Val, btw u mentioned u brought ur kids to science centre water play. Is the water play area foc? Or need to pay money to go in? Thinking of ideas where to bring my son for weekends.
happy.gif
Just visited changi airport T3 over the last weekend. My boy enjoyed the slides.

Thanks canopy for sharing.

Shice, yes need to purchase the ticket to go in the waterplay. According to the staff at science centre they said this waterplay is part of science centre. I paid $25.00 in total on last Friday for 2 adults and 2 kids. Each kid is charge at $4.50 if I didn't remember wrongly

Shince, thanks for updating the list!

Bliss_ling, it's really not easy to take care
Of #1 when preg, sometime my boy really clingy, I'm lucky that he's still quite cooperative and he started his half day cc last well and everything turns out well so now I have some time off in the morning...

Shice, thanks for updating.

found out from the sonograher last week when I did my detailed scan that TMC having renovation now, converting some clinics to rooms. Should be completed by Jan, I guess.

RE: Room
This time round, I will go for two bedder instead. Had one bedder previously and hb will stay with me overnight. But this time round, he will have to go home and help look after the two kids + fetch them to come visit when I deliver. Very scared to be alone at night.

Anyone knows if TMC gives out parking coupons when we are admitted for delivery? #1 I was at Mt E, confirm no coupon, parking was crazy. #2 at TMC, but can't remember abt the parking.

Valerie, you been to the playground with water play at the shopping mall roof tops? Changi city point, Tampines One, Nex has them.

Pasir Ris swimming complex, the one near the interchange has a slide and playground at the shallow pool suitable for toddlers. Charges normal swimming pool admission rates.

Bliss,
Glad that you are getting better. It is so 'xin ku' to be sick let alone being sick during pregnancy and so many medicine restricted. Usually when I'm sick, I dun take med at all, just take lots of orange juice & lemon juice for viT C.

Your MIL is really a 180 degree change. Next time bb born, tell her after work, you will take care yourself. Let her have a taste of her own medicine for not being nice to #1's bb time. If she carry your boy, take over from her. Hate this kind of MIL when they should know that gender depends on their son's sperm and not our egg.

Canopyhaze,
Thanks. Will give ENO a try. Getting heartburn so often that my MS came back a few days ago. Can only eat a little at a time and feel so bloated. I dun remember having heartburn till close to 30 weeks.

Junior,
I think detail scan report depends on where you done your detail scan.
Detail scan which is also known as Screen scan is usually carry out between 18 to 21 weeks
Why: To look for abnormalities of the organ, spine, brain, limbs and palate, plus check for chromosomal abnormalities and baby's growth.

How: Through ultrasound scan

Routine: Yes

Risk: None

Accuracy: Usually accurate.

My detail scan is usually done at Mt A which will include a 2 pages report and 2 x-ray film of the baby showing the following:
Presentation, Bi-parietal diameter, head circumference, foetal abdominal circumference, Fenur length, Transverse Cerebellar diameter,

Other inform includes: Skull, Spine, Heart, Stomach, Kidneys, Bladder, Umbilical cord, Placenta and Amniotic fluid. Counting of fingers and toes as well as cleft lip is done on the spot and sonographer will get us to witness on the screen.

At the end of the day, the report together with the x-ray film will be given to us to keep. So far, I have made them into scrap book for my #1 & #2 like these.

Piyoz,
Boys are really shy in revealing their gender in our thread...

I will also be going for 2 bedder cos hubby also need to help out with 2 kids. Plus mine is c-sect. Room stay is around $2500 not including doc's fees.

Mummies,
For those going for c-sect, can I check how much is your gynae charging? My gynae charges $2400 for epi c-sect, like very ex. I was informed if the dates is on 31 Dec or 1 Jan. there will be surcharge for both doc as well as hospital. For my #2, I delivered 2 weeks in advance so gynae said this 1 might end up in end Dec also.

Morning ladies!

BBlove, your detail scan report seems to be very worth it. Still got film somemore. TMC only 4 sheets of paper.

Bliss, good that your mil is proactive this time round. Mine opposite. Never ask or talk about baby issue till today. But when come to my boy, she will yak and yak... Still remember that when I had my boy, still got 1 dozen of ready to drink birdnest. This time round, nothing. All the 'bu' stuff and soup were prepared by ourselves. Didn't even discuss about the childcare issue. Hubby as usual, super cool and relax when come to own mother. Told me that his mummy will take care wan, don't worry. Ok, i shall see about it.

Cheese, it's sept already. Is your boy in CC? how's he coping?

Hospital Room: My appt is this coming sat.. will check with the clinic assistant if I need to book... Will go for 2 bedded as well. 3 of my friends got discharged on the very next day of delivery this year. One told me that she stayed in hospital for less than 24 hrs loh.... But they are all under KK. Hope TMC not so heartless, let mummy rest for longer period. Guess dragon year not enough bed for certain period. Those on normal delivery were made to discharge very fast.

@ Val, yes I've booked for single rooms at level 5 and if dont have then will go for premium single.

@ hammiebao, glad that ur boy is adapting well in cc. Have a good rest while u can = )
I do agree with the clingy part, always want me to carry, hub keeps telling her if i carry her then bb inside tummy will not be comfy. Nw getting better = )

@ piyoz, I also cant rem whether got free parking coupon.. I think need to pay ard $3++ per ticket and we were given 3 tickets as I stayed there for 4 days 3 nights.

@ bblove, Thanks gal = )

yes I do agree with u abt mil.. hhhhehehee...
I tried not to take med so opt for honey instead, in the end my wt increase so much on top of Mcdonald .. lol

True lor, son told her it the guy sperm and she refused to acknowledge the fact. Well cant be bother with her.

Should have make a scrap book for my #1. I too lazy to do it.. "slap forehead"

Do agree with friends that u have film so it better cos TMC printed it on paper.

@ Friends, wow.. can see the difference. Well, for me, no bird nest thou it a boy nw.. plus she still asks hub to pay her back for the black chicken monie when hub told her to boil soup. Black chicken cost $5.60.

Guess most guys are super cool abt childcare issue cos they always assume that the mother will take care of bb when it comes.

Hopsital room: For TMC, my friends get discharged 2 days later in the afternoon. Not sure abt other hospitals. Well for KKH, guess alot of ppl goin for it so maybe no bed

I am from KK and i realise they din give me the detail scan report to keep. Is that the norm? Do u all tink i can request a copy of it to keep? I really hope so man.

Good morning ladies!

Piyzo: TMC will give a parking coupon for each day u stay. However, like bliss has mentioned, you still have to pay $3. So for example, if your parking fee is $18, you just have to pay $3 instead. But this is provided your car is parked at TMC's carpark itself and not the public carpark at the other end.

Bliss, I guess wong BB said don't feed FM probably she dont wan bb to get used to FM and reject BM. But if really insufficient BM then next alternative will be FM. I will also don't want my bb on pacifier unless she cry badly want it. Because when I was a bb I had pacifier until I am quite old probably age of 7,primary one. My teeth and jaw not align and teeth crooked. Although I have done brace and re-alignment, I prefer my gal not to have pacifier so that next time she can have nice set of teeth then no need to suffer with braces like me.

Dear mummies, can tell me is Carter's baby clothes true fit? I wanna buy some clothes online from Carter's. Should I skip NB and buy 3mth for my bb? My fren ask me to buy all sizes lo... Just in case baby big size cannot fit NB.
Can advise me this MTB?

@ shice, I have requested for the level 5 = )

@ canopy, oh, I went for hospital tour last fri and was told that there is only 2 single rooms in level 5.. Maybe I heard it wrongly.. gosh!! Hubby filled up the form and the customer service at counter looked thru the form and said ok , will try give according to our request.

@ Averie, hehhee I was not a pacificer bb but my teeth were crooked and wore braces for 2 yrs.. nw still need to wear retainer during sleep time but I been skipping on that for awhile..

My sis was a pacificer baby til 6 yrs old and her teeth also crooked.. hhuumm.. maybe it our genes..

For Cater's baby, I bought 6 months old for #1 cos bb outgrown very fast. Buy bigger can wear but if buy smaller, it be a waste if cant wear. For #2, I get the size of 9 months cos my bb is big according to scan.

hi morning ladies...

yes i brought my kids to NEX before for the waterplay.

i hv never let my kids put on pacifier coz i think the shape of their teeth & mouth will not be nice if they put on pacifier. i think its just a habit and if we dont give the bb might not know abt this pacifier thingy.

i also heard that without pacifier, bb tends to be harder to look after but i m fine with that.

bliss : hmmm....maybe there are only 2 rooms thats y i couldn't remember. But stay @ level 5 is definitely better. I like the feel as it is brighter and more cherry. Better energy there i guess.

Initially my appt was 28/9 too but hubby not free so change to 27/9. I am prepared to Dr Lim's nagging again...like bb too big, cut down on carbo/sweet thing..etc...
happy.gif

Thanks Shice for updating
happy.gif

Hammiebao, haha.. my boy same as ur boy lor. kept lifting up ppl's clothes and point to their tummies and said 'baby'. sometimes ask him where is baby, he will lift his shirt. lol! my hubby said must be i taught him that!! :p

For mummies who are looking for ideas where to bring your older kids

Averie, i think start buying sizes for 3mths onwards or bigger. Like what bliss_ling had mentioned, bigger sizes can wear longer..
happy.gif

@ canopy, agree more brighter and it makes one happy too..

@ Val, maybe if i change to 27/8 then good can see u.. hhehhehee... Fri will be pack cos hub goin to dentist and #1 goin to SGH in morn for her lower arm review with plastic surgeon

@ Bliss_Ling: My next app 5 oct! arg too bad just 1 week after u. haha. Btw i was so surprise to see u gain so much. N yr bb now 500g plus!! mine only 325g. i was thinking wat is the average wt for 20 weeks. But Dr lim said mine average and is good. but i afraid like quite small.. i wan chubby bb. hehe.. that time my #1 only 2.7kg.. and before birth Dr lim keep advise to cut down carbo and sweets stuff.

Btw how much is yr CL? THat day i post about my MIL taking care and on the evening my HB ask her agn.. she say ok and fine to come my hse at day time and night time go back her hse. woo.. relief.. can save alot too. As my MIL do quite a good job for confinement when i see her do for her daughter.
happy.gif
so u staying yr mil hse still ok? when is yr new hse ready?

I was wondering "JAN" mummies any outing after all bb out? keke

Mummies: At lst i also tot pacific no good but no choice. my #1 was on pacific too cos he cry to much so MIL suggest to give. but i think once they start to go childcare they shd be able to quit of eating it? My sis son not eating pacific when abt 2 yrs old plus.. Cut a small hole on pacific n slowly they wont like it.
happy.gif

@averie: Carters cutting are smaller. Choose 3-6 mth for newborn beta. the best is to ask for newborn clothes from frens, relative or yr sibling. cos is really a waste $ to buy NB when they only wear for v short period.

Length of hospital stay
I delivered my #2 in the morning and wanted to be discharged after that. I was second time mum and had a 2 year old at home so didn't want to stay. But I was in nUH then, and the peds just did his morning rounds so cannot discharge bb yet, so had to stay one night.

Think it's very common overseas to deliver and discharge. Hospital not nice place to stay.

Pacifier
Both my kids didn't use pacifier butyl dd#2 ended up sucking her fingers!!!! Can't chop off fingers so now haizzzzz... Maybe pacifier better:p

Mount A
No one's staying there?

Bb's clothes
Carter's one size larger than normal Asian size.

Yiping
You at pte suite? They might want you to pay for report if you aren't? I was pte patient at NUH and didn't receive a physical report too, though the gynae did a rather thorough run through with me. Didn't even know such things existed

@ sweetdream, my cl from PEM. Took Pre CNY cos no more cny package as no nannies available. It $2050 or 2080 then govt levy $175. All confinement services will end by 2/2 so if I give birth early then good, it on edd then i will go w/o CL for 2 weeks til next available cl will be on 15/2 with addittional surcharge of $300.

woo woo.. glad that the arrangement with MIl for your confinement is settled = )

Nw after knowing the gender, life gets better for me in her hse. hehehhee
My house will come latest by 1st quarter 2014. Will have a bash to celebrate ... lol

True once in cc, the usage for pacifier will cut down..hehehehe but mine still asking for it ard 8pm .. Once she told me " i dont want tutu". I was so happy cos i thought wow finally can kick off this habit.. Then less than 30 mins, she "begging" to use it.. see how strong will she is toward her tutu..

Outing,
I welcome Jan mummies to my place once it ready but then it will be ard Jan-feb 2014. Hope in time to have a gathering to celebrate their 1 year old..

Bliss ling,
Yah nowadays I'm trying to change my diet somewhat. Cut out sugar, eat slightly less rice, get my mum to cook 50% White rice 50% brown rice (cos I simply can't stand full brown rice).
But last night I cheated and had durian snowskin mooncake! I had slightly less rice in anticipation of the mooncake. Haha. Think it was a good trade-off.

Averie,
Newborns dun have to wear very fitting clothes. They outgrow clothes within 2-3 weeks. I find it very pek chek if I didn't even get to let them wear more than 3 times. Cos u need to standby clothes change of 4-5 sets daily so u definitely can't rotate each piece fast enough. The usual practice is to swaddle them totally in a wrap or nappy so u can't even see what they're wearing most of the time! If this is your last baby u can't even console yourself by reservin for the next child.
I found carters to be on the small side. Best to buy at least 3mths.

Clothes,
Any mummies know of current sales or lobangs for button front tops and separate pants? For home wear style.

Fullhouse, I will be staying at Mount A!
LM, I also want to buy top with button infront! Carter's have but only got up to size 3M. My friend ask me to go mothercare buy size 0-3 which is bigger than Carter's.

Sweetdream, i like the idea of baby outing after babies all delivered. Let me know!
Bliss, I want to go to the baby party. My hse will also be ready in 2014. Where is your new hse?

Averie,
Thks for reminding me of mothercare! I had one set of those I think. But stock is always limited and it's not cheap. Once it goes on sale it runs out very fast. Having said that, if the designs are cute I'll still buy. Lol.

I signed up for the Childbirth Education Programme with Mt A. First class on 4 Oct 2012. Looking forward as I'm a first-timer

Home wear style baby clothes
Earlier there was a post on the Queens st stall, opposite Guan Yin temple. You can go there get first 1-2 months baby clothes. Plain cotton kind. Got button and ribbon tie tops. Got pants (covered sole and open sole) too. At the same time can get napkins, mittens, etc. Mostly is plain plain home wear, no fanciful kind like carter, old navy or gap.

My advise is for carter, old navy or gap clothes is mainly for gai gai one. Can buy bigger size like from 3 months onwards. Coz first month normally wun have many chances to wear. Maybe get 1 super nice outfit for first month celebration can le. heh..

Fulltime,
I will be staying at Mt A.

Baby front button clothing
Sometimes Taka and OG all that will have those PJ style front button like 2 for $6.90 or something like that.. #2 will recycle whatever left from #1.. haha

@ LM, good trade off for mooncake with less rice.. hehehhee... Me too trying to cut down..

@ Averie, my place will be in Yishun. How abt u?

@ hammieboa, # 2 will recycle whatever left from #1. Baby outgrown very fast ..

bliss, started my son for shichida in Jul this year. 1 term only. He enjoyed the classes, esp the motor skills and songs. Wasn't paying much attention in class initially, but after 1-2 lessons, he knows how the class activities work and what to do during class. It's a good exposure for him, other than playing in his infant care. Got learn abt shapes, colours, difference, similiarity, ABC, counting, phonics, etc. Quite alot of varieties. Will carry on for him until the day he doesn't learn/benefit much from it. Btw, i find it difficult to flash cards at home for his current age, 17months. Very active, will run abt if not snatch the cards.

LM: There's a shop at Queen Street diagonally opp the Guan Yin Temple that sells cheap bb stuff in packs of 6 or so, in assorted colours of the same design. Quality decent for home use. About $12-$15 for a pack of 6 if I recall correctly.
