oki:
MIL went with me..after her approval..
happy.gif
she even commented that her daughter went work during confinement.. this is the 4th time I went out after birth, including hospital visit!

Joyce,
Ohh icic, my MIL wont interfere one. But am not happy when she said I shld pump out my milk to feed bb rather than latch on cos we dont know how much he is drinking. I told her no cos my milk supply is not well establish yet. Then she kept quiet.

Oki:
She is the one doing confinement for me.. mainly cook, but still nid some respect mah! for bfg, when I had #1, she said a lot like milk enuf/give fm/give water/etc.. but after #2, no more comments.. since she know my pattern...

Tmr will have my massage & I will ask her to cupfeed bb.. which is 1st time doing cupfeed for her! dunno how she will cope..

Thanks Ladies...seems like the California cream is good...i will go check it out.
happy.gif

Anyway i brought bernice to the pd, he says it's viral wo...gave me some antibiotic cream to apply.

Poohwei, try to enjoy ur time with #1 first, try not to think abt ur edd, then the waiting will not seem so long.

Muffintop, can i check if ur boy's skin is dry? like peeling? coz i read overdue babies come out usually dry skin...my gal has alot of skin peeling

915,
mine also hv... she's 40+1. but most cleared up abt 2 wks after birth. i put lotion for her every day, cos some part dry until wanna crack like dat

915, the peeling is normal. When I was in the hospital, the LC saw and asked if he was past due. So no need to worry.

My boy is crying for feeds every two hours ( start to start), eg last feed started at 3 and next feed he will cry by 5. But each feed can last 1 hour ( both bs). So in between, after bumping him and changing, I have half and hour of rest. Is this normal????

congrats to tinklesmum n Cheyanne! welcome to moo moo club!

re: sling
joyce, i juz bought a MIM sling and tried it with my bb -- gosh, think we r too clumsy and she cried so loud
sad.gif
wonder how to put her in when i m alone?!! any tips?

muffintop,

same here...my gal is feeding ard 2-3 hours interval...but luckily for me this time i got good milk flow to store extra in the fridge for the CL to feed.

btw i also latch her and pump the other breast at the same time...dun want to waste the milk dripping from the other side.

Adv_sports:
Adjust the sling 1st, then carry & put her in slowly.. u got watch the cd?

The inner cloth shd be somewhere below ur chest!

915 > So envious of you to have gd milk flow...I just did the same but very miserable..only got 25ml yield leh. How did you manage to get so much?

Hi SK... drinking more fish soup really helps... It'll get better each time you pump... when I was in hospital, the mid-wife kept emphasising that we must tell ourselves we have good supply of milk. If we tell ourselves we have no milk, then we have no milk..
happy.gif
Hang in there!

SK, i dunno also..not sure if it's the pill precribed by my gynae or the fenugreek or the massage by the lactation consultant...

during my #1, i squeeze until 'face green green' also no milk...

in NUH, the lactation consultants come like 3-4 times a day and massage my breast...and they even call me on my mobile last week to see how i am doing..then she came down to meet me & massage me again at the NUH when i brought my bb for checkup last week...she massaged until i can see milk spurting...

joyce, i only went out 3 times...to the pd, gynae check up and do bb birth cert...then did a little shopping for bb full month deco...haha

adv, i also have the same sling...now i cant find the cd...i think i will be as clumsy too...better go find the cd and watch first...

Porky:
1 more time for me is to fetch bb home from hospital as she stayed 1 extra day for photo therapy! Then, bb follow up + my follow-up..& today

RE: Sling

You gals may want to use a dummy pillow/ doll to practice first before putting the baby in. That was what i did before i attempted to use the sling. Different people will use the sling differently and at different angles.

Re: Last to pop..
Think i give up waiting liaoz..Everyone is like asking me..Have u popped?? and my answer will be " STILL waiting!!" This morning, hubby msged me asking if he needs to come home to bring me to the hospital..I told him.I am going shopping..hahaha..instead of to the hospital..Just taking each day as it is now. But now with the new confirmed H1N1 case, think i will take 1 bedded instead of the originally planned 4 bedded so that hubby can accompany me. If not, if they change to 1 visitor per patient...i will be bored to death...hahaha..

hi to all...

thanks for all the well wishes...jus now update le...baby cry n cry non stop...then i realise cuz he too new to surrounding...need us to comfort him...

hmmm...i was shocked when saw the message on SGP H1N1 case...

poohwei...jiayou...u sure can de...make it a "duan wu jie" baby...we all waiting for u...

RE: BF
wah reali xiong...but super hapi la...my right breast not much milk...so end up crying...so sad when need to use FM as supplement...but i wont giv up...

joyce, i watched the video -- thot quite easy... then kalang kabo when hubby n me fumbled with bb in it *haha*

poohwei, yah, think i better try with my doraemon toy :p

muffintop & 915, me also having the same short interval between feeding -- mine is every 1-1.5 hour per feed... gosh, so tired! after bb's full mth this sat, m gonna supplement with FM to get my sanity back!

poohwei, I know how u feel. I get tat message everyday when I was waiting. If I call a fren, she will think I pop liaoz. Haha. Enjoy the last bit of your pregnancy, after that have to endure confinement.

Re h1n1, I might cancel the full month celebration in view of singapore's case.

I was stressed up by my bb's constant demand and in between feeds I can't carry him cos he will aim for the b. Is it too late to try the fenugeek just in case its a supply issue? He's day 19 now....

hihi mummies,

congrats to all who popped!
happy.gif

Thanks all for your congrats notes.

I am home but Jonas had to stay back one day (hopefully) due to Jaundice.

I am very very tired now cos havent rested since the long labour. Been rather down cos no success at all with my breastfeeding (I don't even have enough colostrum - only drips of it on the nipples). Been latching baby on and massaging but doesn't seem to work. I felt rather bad cos Jonas developed jaundice as a result of no peeing or pooing (cos he was not given any liquid or FM at all!). I started him on FM through cupfeed last nitght and he peeed and pooed again... but by then, his jaundice has already shot up and thus the PD had to keep him back for photo therapy.

Furthermore, I am experiencing urinary incontinence due to the long labour, super swollen feet due to the drip during the labour as well...

Sigh... hope things will get better soon.

caroline:
All the best to you and your bb. For the time being, you will have to keep pumping every 3hr to stimulate your breast. Even if not much output, don't be disappointed! Bring whatever you have for bb to drink. I brought 20ml of colestrum on day 3. If possible, you can go hospital to latch bb.

Dodo:
Do you feed on demand? If so, think it's ok that he only drink from 1 side. I'll let my girl drink on only 1side unless she super demanding. So far, I'm delaying teat and pumping unless found lumps on the Bs which means super engorged, but, I do not empty them bp I do not want to over produce for now!

Dodo, my gal also feeds on one side for about 20 min and then dozes off till about 1.5-2hrs later. After that she will wail for milk again and I just offer her the other breast... very tiring but this will improve later on when they are more alert and there are more wakeful periods (based on my past experience with #1).

Porky and okipoki, so nice of your CLs to wash undergarments for you
happy.gif
For me, it has been a habit since young that my sister and I wash our own undergarments, especially panties. We find it real weird if someone else were to do that for us. So, for the both of us, during our confinements, we will wash our own panties since it is supposed to be 'dirtier'. For bras, since we use breastpads, they wont be that dirty and we will leave the washing to the CLs then....

Heat rash:
The first few days when my gal came home, think she wasn't used to the heat so heat rashes all over the neck and forehead. Honestly, for my #1, I used to use nappy rash cream, Desitin creamy and it worked wonders. Just a very very thin layer will do. But for our newborns, I suggest going to the dr to make sure that it is not very serious and that the right medication is administered. When they are slightly older, can try a very very thin layer of nappy cream

how do we store the ebm with the glass bottles we get from hospital? Am I supposed to buy some cover? Can feed direct from the glass bottle?

gd morning ladies!

muffintop, i will pump my milk directly into the glass bottles from hospital and use the cap and seal from Pigeon to cover it and put it in the fridge (chiller).

Then when i need to feed, juz replace the seal with the teat and put the glass bottle into a cup of warm water to heat.

the pigeon bottles look like that. So far i keep the bottles for later use when supply becomes more than the glass bottles..i am only using the caps and seal to cover the glass bottles now.

Thanks Joyce. Can I ask you something. I bought the medala pump with 2 phases pumping - you know it starts off with 2-mins massage then automatically follow by the letdown function. So when you said pump every 3 hours, do I just turn on the massage mode? Or let the pump goes into let down mode and then count 15 mins in total per breast per massage?

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone experienced urinary incontinence after long labour? Basically you cant control your urinary and bowel contractions anymore?

I am quite troubled by this cos a friend of mine also had the same and she said the nerves are permanently damaged...

Kinda depressing...

Caroline:
You should at least pump for 20mins..so that it will mimic a bb latching..but for 1st time mum.. pumping at this stage is very painful & sometimes will cause sore nipples.. do apply some milk or nipple cream to moisturize them.

Muffintop:
You can get the cap & seal from mt A Pharmacy at 70cts each to cover the glass bottles. If you are using normal bottle in future for your boy, you can attached the teat & the cap directly to the glass bottles.

EBM at lower compartment can be stored upto 48hrs, deep freeze upto 2mth to 6mths.. defrosed ebm can only be store in fridge for 24hr.

Never defrose ebm in room temparature.. bring it down to the lower compartment the nite b4 to allow defrose in the fridge.

I am officially past EDD!! 40 weeks + 1 day...MIL checked the calendar and said that it is better to deliver on Sunday or Tuesday. Hence, i will need to negotiate with gynae again later to see if i can push back my induce date..=P

Hi Caroline,
For medela pumps with 2 phases, you just allow it to run for 20 min for both ur breast concurrently. You need not turn off the "let down" mode unless u have abundant of milk. However, after 10 min or so, if you do not feel that you are yielding more milk, you may want to press that button again to stimulate let down.

Thanks Joyce, Poohwei... so just on the pump for 20 mins, let the massage and letdown process happen..right?

I have no milk yet at all! Past few days I only get like 2-3 drops of collostrum, sometime even nothing. Today is my 4th day already
sad.gif

And you are right Joyce, I do have sore nipples. I have the medela cream and also nipple shield when I pump - it's ok to use nipple shields right?

Caroline:
I think it's ok to use the nipple shield as it will protects your nipples against unneccessary abbrasions..

Ling:
No idea KP sales till when tho..

morn ladies...

flu
been sick for the past few days and both my eldest and my baby are also sick from flu. so depressing to see my little baby sick. he couldnt really sleep properly at nite coz of nasal congestion. really heartache to see him sick. :{

blister
baby bite me a few days ago and now on my B, there is this white blister. everytime i nurse him, it hurts!! prob is baby love nursing on that side. does anyone know wat to do with blister like tat???

tinkles mum...i also only had little drips of colostrum in the first few days. dun let that discourage you. usually for #1 time mum, the milk might not come in until the 6 or 7 days. hang in there.

Thanks Joyce.

Thanks Liewb for your encouragement. Most first time mom that i talk to have their milk supply (even the thin liquid colostrum) on Day 2-3, but I have zero! Not sure now if my baby has taken in any colostrum from me also. Sigh..

Anyway I will continue to pump for stimulation everyday. After my baby is back today, I will have him latch on on top of the pumping... Hope you'll feel better soon.

good morning ladies

happy.gif

Adv_sport:

I usually stand while putting bb into the sling..or adjusting the sling..

Nevertheless, you may try sitting down if it's more comfy for u.

Caroline:
If bb is with u, just latch on demand! no nid to pump loh!

Re: Kiddy Palace sales

I just went there yesterday with my colleague yesterday. The sales is still on but dunno until when. There is also a taka additional 10% sales for members from today till sunday.

Re: Inducing...
Have changed the date to this sunday instead cos MIL says its a better date. However, i will incur extra consultation charges from my gynae..Sob sob..

poohwei,
can ask mil to subsidise the extra charges? why sunday is better day huh? bcos it's the 8th day of 5th lunar month?

915, u mentioned ur wrist n back r aching ? mine, too, from breastfeeding... bb dun like breastfeeding pillow... so i need to carry..

poohwei, my hubby went to the mattel warehouse sale -- he said very small but managed to get some toys for our bb and my nieces n nephews
happy.gif
yah, the price not cheap...

hope kiddly palace sales is still on this weekend -- gonna hv mine n bb's 1st outing after 1 mth of confinement!

re: TBF bb's poo
these couple of days, my bb is poo-ing less -- 2-3 feed then poo once... poo is sometimes yellowish with curd-like stuff... any mummies can advice whether this is this normal?

Tinkles Mum (carolinequek), latch on more will get more milk if not try to express out a little a time is ok. The flow will come in soon.

As for urinary incontinence , last time my sis also experience that. Is only for a few days, after that is back to norm. so dun worry so much.
The more stress u are the harder u recover.

915 & adv_sports, wrist and back-aching due to breastfeeding? can try the lay down way.

Hi all,
Congrats for all the new mummies.

Sorry I disappeared for a while. Was busy with work and my dd1's pri 1 exams. Hope you don't mind I join in again. Now on confinement so more free ; )

I gave birth 2 weeks ago to baby boy 3.39kg at Eastshore. It was Emergency C-sect at 37 weeks. Now I'm fully breastfeeding. Jia you to all mummies breastfeeding!

I heard Motherhood fair is coming next weekend 4th June - 7th June. Any good buys at kiddy palace sale?
