My advice to mummies, dun force yourself too hard, just enjoy the pumping and the latching on, supply will only stabilise during 2nd months.. dun worry too much about the quantity.. or else will be stress and cant produce much.

My supply is okay, not superb, i only pump when super engorge, each pump will yield about 70ml -80ml one side.. other side empty coz bb latches on another side

latch on will boost supply, really, but i dun like it when my boy uses my nipple as a pacifier! i dun want him to rely on my nipple next time!! when i start going back to work, he will be bottle feeding for his last feed before going to sleep..

I dun intend to freeze my ebm. so whatever that is pumped out is given to my #1 haha.. so far she loves it!

Yeah, I think my boy also use my nipple as pacifier. After I latch him on, he will move his mouth such that it become so small. But one thing he is very gentle, so I still don't feel any pain even though he is only comfort sucking.

Don't be stressed. Initially my supply was 20-30ml too! But I keep latching on the baby and drink more fluid and rest more. This really helped to increase the milk supply. Jia you jia you!

Melody, don't be stressed. My baby also always cry very loudly when I remove my nipple. Same as you, even after 1 hr of latching, he will be crying very loudly (so I suspect he is just comfort sucking). We will cupfeed him after he latch.

I am thinking of latching him at night since I sleep through the night now and don't pump currently. So at least I can pump during daytime for his feeding.

how long did tat take? I am really stressed... today is my seventh day...
already feeding 320ml formula on a daily basis... how can my milk come?
baby cry after feed... mil will want formula for her and say... milk not enough loh... sob sob...

i cant pump out enough to bottle feed...so even at night also latch at least 2 times.

currently feeding 5x (60ml) formula for a 24 hr period...

and latch 5-6 times a day around 30 mins - 1 hr each time... tats back breaking for me but I guess... no choice...

I'm having the same problem for BF as all u ladies here. Sometimes when i feel super stress..i come here and feel comfort knowing that i am not the only one going through this tough period..=)

I'm abit confused abt the c-sec wound.Coz i went to see my gynae 1 week after the c-sect, she juz remove the waterproof bandage and ask me clean the wound and put some kind of powder every day for a week. Never say anything abt removing the stitches... Any advice?

Cindy, some stitches will disolve by itself. My gynae told me that my stitches for epi will disolve by itself after 4 to 6 weeks, so no need to remove.

Oh ok..silicon patch. I'll see where i can get it. It's been 3 weeks since i had the c-sect, i dun feel much pain from the wound, but i'm feeling pain around the surrounding area. Do you experience that? I'm scared that it is an infection.

hi ladies...just got home and just in time too, pouring like mad over my side.

baby has jaundice so i stayed additional nite. and thanks goodness too coz my engorgement was so bad. now still have, still trying to get baby to help me unblock those milk ducts.. :s

i also got some rash (red patches above my cut) (itchy)... gynae sold me a tube of hydrocortisone cream to apply on rashes... check with gynae is best...since urs is pain...

1: very painful massage... rub the lumps u feel in circular motion and push down towards nipple after u find the lump soften...
2: place a warm towel on breast, massage. pump out or latch rite after the warm compress...
personally find latch the best

I am pumping out most of the time, cause baby will cry for milk even after latch on. So I only latch on once a day.

the lactation nurse show me way to massage... but i could hardly let her do more than 3 rubs... super painful...

they say the malay massage lady can help also...

why people only encourage birth but never warn us about all the possible pain we have to go through... worst is we still will die die endure watever pain... as long as it benefit baby...

tat's why they say mothers are the best right? we'll happily go thru anything for the little bundle of joy. funny how latching is not a natural thing for babies..mine is still not latching well. and he's quite stubborn. yesterday i put cabbage leaves to soothe the engorgement. and u know wat? after tat baby rejected my breasts coz of the smell!!! couldnt believe it!

make sure cabbage dun cover nipple and also not more than 1 hr and not more than 2 times a day...

Melody, liewb - i got a malay massage lady to clear the blocked ducts and lumps for me. after that i just try to maintain them. i find it cumbersome to use hot towel so i took hot showers and massage my breasts in them. no mess also.

ak...does it hurt when she does it? i'm like paranoid now. i'm also using hot towel but dunno if towel is not hot enuf, not much effect leh.

melody...my boy tends to nipple sucks and also takes me for a pacifier. very stubborn, tried to correct his latching but he's just having none of it.

Melody > Im in the exact situation as yours. Haf been taking care of my gal's feed, diaper changing etc day n night. Not enought rest at all.

Had been advised to take more rest however my situation does not really allow me too. My hubby had played an impt role at this time (thou he's working FT while helping to take care of bb at day time too, sometimes cos he works from home). Me dare not trouble him much as he would feel tired at work too.

I already broke down when I was discharged the first day back to my mum's place for confinement. Maybe I miz bb (who got jaundice n stayed a day longer at TMC) maybe im stressed as thinking too much or maybe too fed up of my mum's nagging who had been urging me to drink n eat to increase milk supply. I lagi more frustrated when im being forced to eat/drink. Till now, im still struggling with only 30ml each day..2-3x of pumps on both sides.

Feeling lousy, my hb was pretty scared I go into postnatal depression. I know he's trying hard to cheer me up hence I have been more "bao rong". Used to grumble at him for every little silly mistake he done.

I'm due today but baby still not engaged n baby big for my size hence tom going for C sect GA- quite apprehensive but gynae advises this is the better option now. Gonna admit tonight midnight and op tom morning. I can finally see my girl tom!! What a wait

SK - pat pat. i fully understand what you are going through. it is so discouraging when i failed to meet my baby's needs and i'm just too drained to carry on. i ended up seeing a consultant and she said that i had adjustment disorder (have not reached the state of postnatal depression yet). i recognised that bfg is a major stress contributor. so i have supplemented my baby's feeds with formula milk to cope better. yes, i do feel guilty not being able to give him full breast milk, but things will be worse if i don't take care of myself.

sk...when i was still in the hospital, the nurses advise me to try to feed more during the day and try to drag it out at nite. this might allows u more rest at nite. or if u dun mind, give a bit of formula at nite so baby will sleep better and u can get ur rest for at least 4hrs.

ak...hahaha...i've also engage mdm sharifah from jamu massage. had her the last time and finds her to be really good.

i think bf is all well and good but sometimes it's not easy. and i realise that it really doesnt hv to be all or nothing. for my 1st, i did a mix. bf during the day and formula (twice) during the nite & early morns. kept baby happy and i kept my sanity.

My milk came in about day 5-6 and it only started to come to abt 120ml per pump on day 14. From day 5 - day 14, the milk was like increasing about 10ml every 2 days. I was very very stressed initially. The milk only came when I started to relax and rest well. I drink papaya soup everyday and latch abt 6 times daily. Night time I will express out and my Cl will feed. Currently, I still need to supplement abt 1-2 times of FM daily cuz my girl drinks 110ml each feed already!
