hi mummies,
just popped by to say thanks for all the well wishes and encouragement! here's my birth story:
contractions regular at 10min intervals on Mon 11pm.
TUES 1am: admitted to Mt A. after CTG and dilation check (2cm)
Told to sleep to wait for contractions to intensify.
WED 7am: dilation still 2cm+ only.
8:45am: gynae came and broke water bag to speed things up.
11am: only dilated 3cm! put on cytocin drip
contractions started intensifying
2:45pm: dilation check - still only 3cm! piangz.
3:15pm: agreed to epidural. cytocin drip dosage increased, contractions increased in pain but din feel anything cos epi is POWER.
8pm: dilated to 8cm.
9:30pm: started pushing.
9:52pm: baby Kate arrives to the outside world!!
Sorry very exhausted after that so haven't uploaded photos at all.
Yesterday night very discouraged cos kate no urine since discharged at noon yesterday. even though I had latched her on and she had sucked very well 8 times yesterday by midnight! at least 10-15mins on each side every time! But only got colustrum so i also admit no real liquid flowing into her body. CL said her lips very dry, and no good to get dehydrated. after consulting with PD, he said okay to supplement with one formula feed.
so last night (everafter, like you) we started formula feed. she cried less, rooted less (even though i started latching her on demand everytime she rooted) and slept peacefully. best part she managed to poo a lot.
i really really wanted to TBF but couldn't bear seeing her suffer and worried abt complications if she got dehydrated. sigh. guess i'm on the track to having a combination until my milk supply comes in. It's only been less than 60 hrs since she was born (so less than 2.5 days) but theoractically she's 4 days old? so hopefully my milk supply comes in soon. will go and search for that power pump schedule and pump away.
won't be able to come to this thread, but can email me at
[email protected] so i don't miss anything u guys have to say to me. will miss you all, but have to focus on kate now.... finally know what maternal love means!
take care everyone and let's press on!
