Reflections as a mother
Mummies, today I am supposed to do relief for a teacher whose class was HORRIBLE! They are in P6s, out of the 20 or so pupils, half of them are not interested in their studies. Several of them have NO respect for authority. They just act out as and when they feel like it. Acting like gangsters, etc. I talked to the teacher aide who was in class with me, and well, surprise, surprise, the parents don't give a ****. If it were me from the past, I would frown on the kids. But now, I looked upon these, and I pitied them. They're results of very very bad parenting. I was told that when calls were made to the parents, most of them didn't care. So what if the school provides counselling to the pupils, for 12 years of their lives, it was mostly moulded badly. How to remould? What can remould them? Naturally, they are not motivated to study. I really peifu the form teacher. I couldn't see how I could teach in such a disruptive classroom. It got to the point when the teacher aide had to separate the kids into two groups. One group was left to talk/play among themselves while she taught the other group who was more willing to study.
Let's be parents and be responsible for our children. I reckon these kids were neglected. Their mannerisms are so gangster-esque and their disrespect for authority - sigh.
I just want to go home and hug Jo.
