I called Smiling Orchid to chk on the design of the cakes. They have more designs to choose if we make a trip to the shop or give them our design.

For a "2" cake, the manager recommended Winnie the Pooh. They also have Sesame Street and Mickey Mouse. Min 2 kg. For Butter Cream: $140 + GST (can last longer in aircon). For Fresh Cream: $150 + GST.

How? How?
 
Langlao, see how the response is for the cakes option. If by end of next week, not much response, then u just go down to the shop & get the shape of no 2 & choose the design.

Michviv: Hi wanted to check with you. U mentioned that we can get the diaper rash cream with a certain content from Guardian or Watson's? Can you let me know again, cos want to stock up to bring back to Shanghai.

Also I am starting to let Matt read some ladybird books as well, where do you get your books?
 
tinkabel: You could get daktarin cream which has (miconazole 2%) for the treatment of fungal infection. In addition, you could also get some hydrocortisone cream which is a mild steroid that will help with the itch and rashes.

I get my ladybird books from Popular and Borders. =)

k@ye: I got him all the level 1 "early readers" collection which include stories like little red hen, the billy goats gruff etc. He has now progressed to level 2 books like little red riding hood and chicken licken. E can now re-tell some stories back to us though he is memorizing the stories rather than reading. Nevertheless, all his aunties and grand-aunts still love listening to him read books to them. haha.

have you started Claire on any books?

I need some recommendations on good chinese books though. I only have a few and the rest on the market seem too difficult for E.

As for Chinese books, i can't really recommend but i think if u have any books in mind... U can always read to E.

Michviv: I started Matt on a few titles like "Jack & the bean stalk", "The magic porridge pot" and "the elves and the shoemaker". Got these ladybird books FOC when bought huggies diapers at the taka bb fair 1 month ago and he loves the stories. There are 9 other titles under this first favourite series and I have ordered them all through a BP here. Now want to get other titles not in this series.

Hey anyone has any idea of the benefits of tandem breastfeeding? I have heard both sides. Some say it's good for the older kid. Some say not very good since the BM would contain nutrients that's for the newborn baby instead and not much use for a toddler? I have surfed the internet on this and it seems to have more benefits than cons. I have been doing tandem breastfeeding and replacing 2 of Matt's FM feeds with BM cos I have a lot of milk this time and my ILs are super against it. Keep making a lot of comments about it.

Gathering: We want to meet this wed? Quite last min, I know. I m leaving next Mon night. Anyone got suggestions where to go?

I think some mummies here had sent their kiddos to infant care before.

May I know are they prone to sickness too just like childcare? i'm going to send my #2 to infant care.. relative is not going to help this time round.

does your tummy expand faster this time round? I'm only 9 wks now and tummy is showing already! horrors or horrors..when I had G, my tummy can only see when I was 4mths+! Aiyo..
 
poissons: I have heard that for the 2nd one, tummy expands and shows faster cos already stretched once mah. But for me, think was somewhat the same, but I guess cos mine is girl and bb is small (at birth only 2.64kg)

mamboob, congrats. Not to scare you, but there is a tendency to fall sick more often. Like Matt, he's got a persistent cough. We brought him to PD. He says if he is going to CC, hard to completely heal. So he ask us to try a preventive medicine for 3 mths and see how. Of course, not 100% fool proof but aids in preventing. Esp since we are going back to Shanghai for winter.

poisson: ya.. for my case, my tummy shows early too.. i think its due to my extra tummy and bloated stomach during my 1st trim.. heehee.. morning tummy is not that obvious but after meal.. it 3mth preggy looks like 4mths pregnacy lor.. haha

poissons, mine was the same, cos I puked a lot... now I am 6 months preggie, but still not huge yet.. guess because its a boy its similar to JJ.. it will expanf exponentially next month. But think yes, it starts to show slightly more..

Poissons - My tummy shows when when i was 4months preggie with #2....guess our muscle has been stretched with #1, so maybe now with #2, the tummy shows earlier?

Childcare / school - Ash's PD advised to let him take the flu jab two months before he goes to school in Jan next year....not sure if it helps. I am prepared that he may start to fall sick more often though.....

I also hv the same prob finding good chinese books to read to ZY. Also the fact she seems to appreciate the English story books more - reading is definintely a good habit to instill when young, so I am not complaining now that she keeps asking for more books to be read prior to bedtime.

mambo, when A was at infant care, she was sick very often. Initial months, she stay home about half the time recouperating. Subsequently it's abt once a month. Even when she was in PG childcare it is the same. Luckily we switched the cc, she has not fallen sick since Sept. We diligently give her the sambuscus and also now in this new cc, every classroom has a "branded" air cleaner and also the # of children is a lot lesser so perhaps these factors help.

what's sambuscus? G is having rollercoaster fever since last Sun, the side effects of MMR. Good thing that he is still active and alert so we are not that worried.

Mummies,
Is it true that MMR has got 2 jabs? G's PD said we are to go back for the follow up jab within 3 mths after the 1st jab..
 
poissons - MMR is the 3 in 1 (measles, mumps and rubella) so only one jab. Unless you opt for the individual jab which is 3 in total.
 
poisson - I just brought my no1 for MMR on Sat and it's only 1 jab. I think there is an option of 2 jab but my PD didn't have that. So I go for 1 jab...

heard from PD, after 5 days fever might come. So hope he will not have fever. Hope yrs will recover soon.

thanks for the info on Sambucus. Is it heaty? Cos the last time I feed G with cord liver oil and the multi-vits, my mum told me it's too heaty for him..sigh..so i kinda stopped.

ASHM/Rachel,
G's PD told us that the 2nd jab if not taken within the 3 mths, they will have to get it when they are pri one or something. I also dunno. For fever, it will normally hit after 8 to 10 days after jab. For G, it was after 10 days.
 
poissons, heaty means no poo or hard poo or wat other signs? Everyday A gets this:
1. Morning: 1/2 teaspoon of Colostrum mix into milk
2. Afternoon or Evening: 1 teaspoon of Muliti vits, 1/2 teaspoon of Cod Liver Oil & 1 teaspoon of Sambucus.

She poos regularly and is active.
