mbb, wennie, lil, my sil gave pediasure to her kids after 1 yr and their appetite really improved after that. but hor, now both kids now in taf club.

this morning brought ivan to see a very pro pd at tmc...thinking if he said ivan weight is really to worry ..then i will give him FM! but turn out he said no to FM ask me to continue give BM...

my sis gave my 'unweanable' niece pedisure 2weeks ago...now her cheeks seems to have more'meat' she not fussy eater in fact she eat alot n everyting but she also move non stop...my sis still cant wean her off n her second bb due jan 08 !aiyoooo!!

Ivan not underweight lah, acc to book/infor that bf bb won't be obese and weight will be maintain.

yup, gd for u to intro so many food stuff to Ivan, my mum only stick to fish, veg(1 type only) and meat only. then at my mil's plc, tx will get to eat pumkin/carrot (not everytime), potato, steam whole piece fish. i will give her tofu only. so tx has limited food varieties than Ivan.

to me, Ivan has developed much faster than tx. u know, heard fr my fren that her sil 's bb only got 2 teeth only. she is already 18 mth liao. worries or not man...

do u brush Ivan teeth? hmm...how to brush bb's teeth, scared brush her gum then bleed how? anyway, tx's 2 teeth not fully developed yet too tiny to brush but will make sure that she rinse off any milk with water after the feed. Have told my mum and dunn if she did that but I did that for her last feed before I leave my mum'plc daily. haa..so funny, when she taught her bb how to use the toothbrush, the toddler use it to brush toilet floor.

recently, over the weekend, hubby and I will take her to education tour to supermarket before bringing her to my mum'plc on sun and mil's plc on sat. now, she know the fruits name esp apple, orange, banana and when we asked her where the apple at the hse, her head will turn. one of the time, she even use hand to gesture the banana liao.

my cousin in law's bb (only younger than tx by 11 days) still dunno how to sit but know how to crusie ard the bb cot liao. tx still dunno how to pull herself up her play pen(last week, then I lower down her playpen only, she was sweating like mad, clothes are wet mah..even tough fan blowly towards her play pen)

thks for info. what type of mattress do you use for Tim's cot? tx's mattress is those sponge mattress which is bought at John little. ever saw those mattress at kidmall and Tom n step but more or less are similar. anyway, will check it out at neighbourhood furniture shop to see if it is cheaper to make the playpen mattress.

lil, the kids used to be choosy abt food and would not eat. after pediasure they eat more. it kinda open up their appetite. then they eat a lot lor. sigh! always ask for bread and biscuits. you know how grandma will give when kids ask so they are now in taf club. trying to even cut down on the rice they eat during main meals. so poor thing.

sylk, think its really everything here....maybe its 'shui tu bu fu'. just have to take care!

afcai, i have an extra mattress for my cot so i use it in the playpen now. i'm not sure if those furniture shops do custom order mattresses or not.

jav attended the trial at 11am slot. Normally his nap time is around 11am also. tat day he woke up at 7plus am. i tried to make him sleep at 9plus am before we left for BJG @ 10.30am. but he was still veri energetic. therefore he was abit cranky during some part of the trial.

jav also will stand n jump on his high chair when we feed him. i hav to use one hand to hold on to him to prevent him from falling n another hand feed him. feeding him nowsaday is also a difficult task. even if i giv him a toy to distract him or let him watch his fav elmo vcd, he will still struggle off his safety belt n stand up after sometimes.
regarding the weight, javier also weight less than 9kg but he is more taller n more than 50 percentile. as i was quite worried his height during his 6 mth assessment when he was less than 50 persentile. Our bbs r more active n love to crawl or walk around during tis stage, their weight will definitely b affected. As long as they r happy, healthy n eating well, we shldnt worry too much.

hope Regina is on the recovering path. my jav also down wif mild coughing n running nose. feeding him medicine nowsaday is also a great challenge. the moment he sees mi wif the medicine needle in my hand, he will turn his head away. when injected the medicine into his mouth, he will split them out.

oic. think have it cos i order most of my furniture fr the bt batok branch neighbourhood furniture shop near interchange. I should have tailor made the mattress before the arrival of tx. I think seahorse brand is much better quality in term of other tailor made no brand. acc to the seahse staff, he said the mattress can last for 7 yrs. so if that case, in future, it can be used for my no 2.

Ruffybear - thks. think the price for seahorse mattress has increased. currently, we have a seahorse brand single mattress cum bed. usually, will let tx lie there during her changing times (after bath and change of diaper loh).

Thanks thanks. R is on the slow road to recovery. Her fever is still hovering around, already into it's 5th day. Eye infection is gone, just a couple of days of watery eyes and slight discharge. To look on the bright side, I am glad it didn't happen in Italy, and maybe she's just training us to deal with it, else in Panama when we are all alone, it'll be worse.

Aiyooooo!!! Poor meg. Sayang her for me... she's a brave girl!! Seems like when they walk, we'll be even more tired!!

Oh.... mummies whose babies are not eating well, I dunno if I have just found the answer or if its because JT is having a growth spurt. she has been eating one whole bowl of porridge every meal... i know its normal for a lot of bb here, but for JT, that's like 4x of her normal intake. I am giving her Appeton multivitamins drop for infants, which contains lysine which is supposed to be an appetite booster. Maybe that's what is in pediasure that makes the kids want to eat more. I am not sure if it is really working, but so far so good!

I also hope this would last. I never imagine tat she will eat 1 whole bowl of porridge in 1/2 hour. It's really like striking Toto!! Although she still needs to play and I need to constantly give her something new to play... but at least she is eating!!!

Kimi, can organise during weekends? Then your hubby take over Mandy?? Maybe you can jio a few of us staying nearby for a trial run? Can earn extra income, and can let Mandy socialise more mah? Try 1 session and see?

AIyo.... JT already stopped her nite feeds when she was 6wks old... altho she does wake up for feeds sometimes during growth spurts.... but its an on demand thing.... Wah wonder how you do it every nite, and you have to work somemore.....sometimes babies stomach has wind is because of the things they eat, such as sweet potato and broccoli... and also milk bottle... no such thing as having wind on empty stomach lah.... you should start training him to sleep thro the nite, if not it'll be very difficult when he becomes a toddler.

yup, agreed with what dora has mentioned. my col told me do adult woke up during nite for makan?? no right so if ethan can slp, then let him slp, or else it will become a habit for him as he grew up, he will wake up at night for feed. think ethan shd be weaning off night feed soon...so bravo...u shd be happy, right.

wah... thnx for all the comments, ladies... i must be a super woman to be able to survive with 3-4hrs of sleep every nite... hee... but these few nites have been letting ethan sleep thru n he is doing quite well... n i have more sleep too... hee... n no more panda eyes... hee... haiz... sometimes really cannot listen to mil too much... now trying to convince her to change ethan's menu in a nice way... wish me luck...

1. when will bbs outgrow nite feeds?
My boy has never ever slept thru nite b4. Now still wakes up at least twice a nite for milk. I dun mind giving him milk since he is not drinking much during daytime anyway. But sometimes he wakes up n refuses to go back to sleep...that's what makes me super tired. Now that he is older it's better cos he can understand when I scold him n tell him to sleep.

2. is it ok for bbs 9-10mths to forgo nite feeds altogether? ie last feed abt 10-11pm till next morning 9-10am...
It is ok but what can u do if ur bb wants to wake up nightly for feed. I guess u can try to train him like some mommies here did but that means letting him cry himself back to sleep for many many days. Is it worth it, when all it takes is just giving him milk n he will go back to sleep. To me...NO. They will outgrow this in good time...trust me, my SIL n my mum never believe in training bb's to forgo nite feed n eventually all their bb's outgrow this.

3. how much does ur bb drink at nite? cos usually ethan only drink abt 120ml at nite... but these few nites he has been refusing nite feeds altogether... wasting quite a few bottles of FM liao... haiz...
My boy drinks 150ml or less. Sometimes if he drinks earlier I will make 180ml but it takes 1hr to get him to finish that amt. He will still wake up for his nite feeds.

4. wat happen when ur bb is teething? ethan has ALL e symtoms of teething, drooling, cranky, biting everything n anything, refusing milk n porridge but juz nothing comes out... any tips to make it easier for him? have tried teething gel but ethan ends up sucking everything... dunno if it really helps...
Same. Drooling alot, cranky n reduced milk intake. Mine was super cranky such that middle of the nite he will wake up n cry. Give milk dun want, carry, rock also dun want. Tried teething gels...useless. On days when I think he is going to hv a bad night I give him a dose of panadol b4 he goes to sleep (on PD's suggestion). That seems to help. He wld also drink better after that.

i gave up putting E in any chair for his feeds cos he gets bored n will blow his food everywhere. No point giving him toys etc cos he just throws on the floor n continues blowing. Now I sit him on the bumper mat n let him move around. He comes back when to me for the next spoonful when he has swallowed. Makes life much easier.

I was also apprehensive like you, but JT was really only on plain water and biscuits for 3-4 days, so I was desperate enuf to get the multi-vits. Anyway I dun intend to give her long term. If she continues to eat well, then I'll probably stop after 1 week or so...

dora, hmmmm, those days you put into her porridge, did she finish? its difficult to administer such things for bbs. i dun wan to waste if they dun finish the meal. i'm trying to give tim some acidophilus but afraid he won't finish then waste my $$$! sigh!

meg's milk intake (210ml~240ml) is really good. remember one time u were worried abt her intake oso. are u still bringing her to yu guo? i stopped yu guo after 5 times or so. wonder if we were to continuously go, will help sophia's intake anot.

my pd prescribed appeton multivit for my gal. been taking it for abt 2 weeks liao. no significant increase in the total amt she drink/eat... but at least slightly easier to coax her to finish almost 120ml.

I called the hotline Abbott, the nutrition advise me not to take Pediasure yet, ask me go for Gian IQ for few mth 1st & ask advise fr PD whether my bb is underweight or not (of course, if i'm insists, then can ask sample fr them also but hv to reach 1yr not less),,If PD comment need to change then change lo..She also suggested schedule for my bb (which is almost the same timing for my bb la) just additional the 2oz milk

6 am - 180 ml milk
9 am - Cereal mix with milk & Fruit (about 1/2 bowl)
11.30am - 2oz milk
12.30am - Porridge
3 pm - 180 ml milk
6 pm - porridge
9-10 pm - 180 ml milk

Actually my DS is now 8.8kg, he's drinking at max 180ml but not all the time can finish. For me, i think he's a bit slim, he's about 25-50%. He's not picky about his food, but just not a greddy bb lo. That's why i wanted him gain more weight

About the multiV- i'm also giving him just drop into his milk every am. (but not Apetton brand) prescribe by PD.

I added the multi-vits to just a small portion of the porridge. I make sure she finish that small portion 1st before feeding her the remaining.

By the way, my hubby is going to US tomorrow. Dunno if the ulu place that he is going has Toys R Us or not. Will ask him to check it out then let you gals know.

I use the rubber finger 'teat' which comes with the 1st teeth toothpaste. I use it and show to Hayley and she will auto open her mouth and let me clean happily. But if I use a damp cloth to wipe her mouth, she refused to open her mouth for me.</font>

0730 - 210ml milk
1030/1100 - porridge
1220 - 210/240ml milk
1430 - 1 big tube of fruits
1630 - 210ml milk
1830 - porridge
2030 - 210/240ml milk

my only complain is tat she dun eat much of the porridge (yesterday she finito 1 bowl of carrot, brocolli and fish porridge tho).
and if we go out, she will not wanna drink her milk coz she get distracted

talking abt food, Denise had been taking her porridge with threadfin, loin meat, potato, carrot since 7mths for lunch n dinner. Smtm only alternate with spinach or broccoli. No change. I see liao oso bored haha.............

1500 - 150/180ml milk
1900 - porridge n some fruits after
2100 - 150ml/180ml milk
0230 - 80/100ml milk
0530 - 100/120ml milk
Some biscuits in between.

Same here, me also not v adventurous with my boy's porridge. Everyday the porridge is cooked with either threadfin plus scallop, salmon or lean pork meat. After that I add pureed sweet potato or pumpkin plus either brocolli, spinach, asparagus or avocado. Occassionally cook with potato but find it too tasteless. Yesterday I tried giving him mashed green peas as the green veg n he loved it bcos of the sweetness. Kept rushing me by pulling my feeding arm. BTW, I also add two slices of ginseng into the porridge everyday. Pei fu Kimi...hv even given dao miao etc. I m worried my boy's digestion system cannot cope with certain veg so will slowly add variety as he grows older. My friend's daugther was given alot of variety when she was a baby then end up her digestion system cannot cope n she pooed blood. So me v kia si.

my hubby was practically chanting 'playgroup! playgroup!' these 2 days whenever he saw me.. so i tot bt it. it'd b gd 4 mandy too if i start a playgrp. i roped in my lead tchr (i used 2 partner her) who's v gd w kids n is oso a sahm now. she's interested. n since we both kinda miss teaching little kids, so....
we both feel tt if we're gonna start one, we wanna do it properly. so will find a nice aircon place + get all e materials.
so can i ask, how many o u r interested? we can always haf a trial 1st. if response is ok, we'll go ahead n prepare n propose a lesson plan. o cos we'll charge a reasonable rate.
