how do you clean bb's toys? those who have the super baby food book, do you use baking soda and water to clean the toys? so far for the bumper mat, i use water nia, cos bb nat licks the mat so i scared to use soap. how to ensure that the toys are clean and safe for bb? any advice? thanks

Hannah oso...putting things in her mouth is now the #1 fav thing to do. when carry her, she will oso chew on our collar etc, etc.

To reduce file size, I use Microsoft Picture Manager, select Edit Pictures and "resize" and "compress pictures". Then save liao then upload.

u got to accept tt bb is bound to waste our precious ebm usually leh.. for me hor.. i hav been giving PH 150ml although i noe tt he won't be finishing it usually.. he usually takes between 120ml and 140ml.. onli very seldom den will complete 150ml.. each day, i waste almost 100ml of the ebm down the drain.. but i okie w it coz i noe he drink to his max liao.. very sim tia... spend so much time n effort to pump.. but wat to do, the little prince appetite so small.. i dun want to miss any chance for him to drink more.. :p

the judge asked me to latch on.. still dunnoe the result leh... sian...

i use water to wipe the toys n mat.. sometimes, i will use bb wipes to wipe the mat too... lately discovered this wipe fr pigeon at kiddy palace.. states tt it's made of eadible detergent.. can be used to wipe toys, soothers etc...

i know this is really none of my business as bb tx is your baby and you as the mother has the absolute right to make the decisions you think are BEST for the baby. But I cannot help but want to at least get this off my chest.

No one here can professed to know everything and to claim their way of taking care of their babies is the best, which is why we are all here to learn from each other and hopefully along the way pick up tips to take care of our babies better.

I have tracked all the correspondences between yourself and some of the mummies here and I am not sure if it was because you did not fully understand the point or you really just have a misguided notion about saving your EBM.

I shall not even talk about the powder, the peeling, the quilt as even though they are actually quite important, its importance cannot be compared to the topic of milk intake.

Your experiment over the weekend has proven that bb tx is able to drink more milk but yet you came back with the response that you are not going to do anything about her weekdays milk intake at your mum's! This really had me in shock. I am still trying to figure out how did you come to your conclusion?

I know how precious breast milk is and how horrible it feels to have it wasted. But we have to remember WHY we are expressing milk in the first place, the milk is just the process, the REASON is for the BABY.

If you are consciously starving your baby because you are worried that your EBM will be wasted, then I really think you must review your priorities and ask yourself is the baby more important or the EBM more important.

A very simple way to solve this would be to top up your bb's milk intake with FM. Give her the 125ml EBM that you are originally already giving. then top up with 30 to 50 ml of FM and see if she can drink. If she can't, at least it's not your EBM that is going down the drain.

I think OCH has already stressed I think in more than one post that babies need fats at this stage for their brain to develop. Surely you want your baby to have a headstart as well and not be disadvantaged just because she is unable to get the amount of milk she needs.

I think I may have written one of my longest and strongest worded message here. It is not meant to be offensive, I am sorry if it sounds that way, it is just a honest message from one mummy to another. I hope you will really read all the messages from the mummies again and rethink your priorities.

For ur gal crying when she reach home. maybe u can tell her at ur doorstep. say REACH HOME LOR. reach mama, papa & tx home lor. my gal used to cry when she lied on someone bed. she knw different. must tell her at whose hse, whose bed then she can calm down. omg.

For the 3-fold matress, it comes with free bed sheet. u can wash the bed sheet if bb tx salivate on the bedsheet. then wkend sun the matress lor to kill bacteria also.

U can buy the ABC mat from KP i think quite cheap lar. $40+ for maximum nos of mats. got A-Z, 0-9 & dunno animal or what character lor. if oni A-Z will be 26mats lor. that is $20+.

Take away the powder from ur mom hse. she buy again take home again. dun throw leh. money leh. can use when gal is bigger.

how often do yr bb feed? my mum will fix the feeding routine, every 3 hrs so if bb tx drink 180ml every 3 hrs + solid, she will think she cannot finish it with such a close schedule. for us, if bb tx is in our hse, I will give her more milk than solid cos her feeding interval time is 3hr+ - 4hr or up to 5hr(if she is slp). my mum told me she will be giving porriage to bb tx next mth.

u know my mum...hai... I did tell her to give her 150ml (the small 125ml Avent bottle, pour milk till to full) but she told me that she will give her 125ml only cos she eat other solid man.
today, I needed to check on her and ask her again how much ebm she gave during her first feed(shd give her more cos everytime during her first feed of the day bb tx can drink more). I also need to remind her if she gave fm, she must give full 150ml cos I pre-scoop for her the 5 scoops of fm.

thks for the concern, no offensive.it is gd to share our views here esp straight fwd.thks for the advice and appreciated. as for the wkday intake of the milk and other matters, no matter how hard I tried to talk to her (nearly quarrel) but she still insist her way to take care of bb tx. my saliva also run dry, head banging etc...even spoon feeding bb tx is also difficult to her(meaning that bb tx will create a mess and I dunno she is patient enough to spoon fed her).initally, she wanted to place rice cereal into milk, I told her strictly no and as what sh or whoever mummies mentioned, this will not train her to be spoon fed next time.


I Will review to my mum today to increase the intake of milk (last time, she kept on telling me brown rice gd cos my brother drink brown rice totally, no milk, I told her no, bb still need milk to grow so milk is the main course while other are appettier only). I even asked her to use the 260ml Avent bottle, she told me she dun really like the big fat bottle. I told her she still need to use in future when bb's appetite grow.
sometimes, she just dun bother to listen, so pek chek man...

after hearing everyone's sharing, feel a bit more encouraged. Hannah took a couple of days to get used to eating cereal. even now, it can be a bit messy, but much improved!

yesterday each feeding she take like 80-100ml! I ask her if she's dieting...stress me! only the later feed at abt 8pm then she guzzled down abt 200ml. Haiz! I think she even "off" BM liao.

if i give her BM, she take small sips, then stop. When give her FM, she take more. Strange, I actually feel upset that she prefers the FM, but then again, now that her FM intake is so much more, can't blame her la. Now cos i'm stopping BM, ss reduce as I pump once a day. But the little bit that i get (abt 50ml) goes to making her cereal... and she eats that, heheh!

1) Selinna is very petty.. anyone who scold her or say bad abt her, she will stare at the person for long until one stop talking abt her. dunno is coincidence or what. then after that they pax go call her she turn her head away leh.. OMG.. how come she lidat???
2) her daddy scold her Noti cos she cry & daddy cant handle her. so she cry on bed. when we are abt to go out. i was carrying her, my hb want to take over cos to bring her to car while i close my door & carry my bag.. my hb clapped hands to ask Selinna go to his hug she turned her head away also. cos she rem just now her dad scold her & put her on bed when we are changing.
3) recently she feel very insecure.. put her on bed 1 sec oni w/o us in sight she cry like slaughter pig.. then hv to carry her to go ard the hse when i am cleaning & washing her btl cooking her cereal etc....

2) stand by herself in her baby cot by holding the baby cot rails & force her butt & legs up & infront & stand up. somemore knw i take camera still can pose to let me take pic.

Hannah oso move very fast, climb all over. So a bit worried... :p

Dun stress, bbs go thro fussy period. Hannah oso sometimes put down only "cry blue murder" as my MIL say. Haha! But, bo bian la. Sometimes carry and carry her lor.

In the recent few weeks, Hannah has ocassionaly started to show if she wants us to carry her by opening up her arms wide and leaning over.

Jen, happy 6 months old to Selinna! dun worry, too much carrot means really eating a lot, and i dun think Selinna has that appetite to eat that much. : ) and yes, one will turn yellow when eating too much carrot or papaya but it will have to be soooooo much. : )

bb tx also has this type of syptoms, she also started to show that she wants us(esp me) to carry her by opening up her arms wide and leaning over. at my in laws's hse on sat, her eyes kept on eyeing at me when I walked ard. but when hubby called her, she did not respond but still eyeing where I am. I think she is developing not only strange anxiety but separation anxiety (hope I'm not wrong). even, I brought her to my mum'plc, when she sit on the walker, she just sit there and all of us think that she dun really know how to ctrl it. but, she cry when I walked away. then I juz stand there calling her name and out of desperation, she pushed herself twd me with arm open. when my mum carry her while I'm having dinner, she just lean twd me with open arms, her action shows that she wants me to be carried.

i'm so glad 2 say tt after being v cranky n outta sorts 4 e past 2 wks or so, mandy has been like an angel e past 2 days. she plays n falls asleep by her self 4 every nap, w absolutely no fussing. she makes happy sounds all e time n smiles e whole day! she's bk 2 sleeping a lot. she finishes her solids in a jiffy!
yest me n hubby went out 4 perf n left her w our frens. 7 o them took turns 2 carry her. she was awake fr 5pm 2 11.30pm (oops! so late... poor mandy) n thruout all this time she din fuss at all! she lets anybody carry her! n at nite she fell asleep w/o fussing. soooo happy.
only thing is she's woke up 4 nite feed again last nite. but perhaps she's teething.... so i dun really mind lah.... now when i c her i just can't help hugging n kissing her.

eh... i hardly clean her toys!!! hehehe... haf lah haf lah. wipe e mat like once in 3-4 days w soapy water than water again. i wipe w e tollyjoy bb detergent which is bb safe. as 4 soft toys, i dump them into e washing machine. e ones tt i can't dump i use wet wipes.

Hi mommies,
Like Gan, I also came back from a family trip to Tokyo sans my Annette, sob. I brought Nicole along, and we 3 really missed Annette.

During the trip, I decided to start weaning off breastfeeding, as I will be travelling intensively for work next month. Thus, now, I am just pumping once a day and latching Annette on as "appetiser" or "dessert" before and after her FM feeds. My Annette is a small eater, only drinking 120ml every 3 hours. But my mom had started her on porridge (fish and vegs) twice a day. Feeding her is quite fun, seeing how messy it can get!!!

Like doggie, Jackie and kimi, I also think you may want to have a heart to heart chat with your mom on child-caring techniques. My mom used to have old-fashioned techniques as well, but after chatting with her, she is now very open to our "modern" techniques!

BTW, rotavirus is definitely less important than pneumococcal (which causes meningitis) but I gave it to my boy anyway cos I remember my nephew kena food poisoning and in the middle of the nite diarrhea n vomit all over bed (not just one, but both his own bed n parents)...walau can u imagine the cleaning up. But think if u want Kate to take it now will be too late liao...can only take b4 6mths.

Today super tired but dunno why cannot sleep. BTW, I m quite happy cos my boy's bottom teeth coming out liao. Can c his left front tooth emerging fr the gums. Didn't even realise he was teething....heng ahh.

Happy 6mth to Ivan...mine also turning 6mths soon. U r feeding Ivan the Heinz rice cereal for 4mth bbs one rite. I din manage to get Ewan to accept it mayb cos the taste is soooo bland. After u add milk, taste like milk with some texture n he hated it. Will scrunge his face up and pui pui out. If i push it back in his mouth he cries. But when he started boycotting milk, I got desperate n gave him bottled food, he loves them. Mayb u shd try another brand of cereal...something with more taste. Good luck with weaning Ivan.

hmm..yup, heard fr my frenz that bb above 8 mth will have the tendcy of it. so my frenz also quietly leave the hse and her mum just divert her boy attention and brought him to the rm.

haa...bb tx will give u a face when strange touch her and then face will turn red and cry.

will bb be restricted when they are seated in the jumperoo cos they only can jump but cannot move here and there like those walker.

no wonder u went missing for some time. as for the heart to heart talk, at the front, she nod her head etc kept saying she know she know before I managed to finish a sentence. after a while, she will be back to her square one - old fashion of child caring tech. no use...since confinement till now (lot of conflict during confinement), she still never change, kept on stressing that I also use this method to raise u all up. she won;t change one like a lepord never change its spot.

pumping away before getting dressed for work. Just want to say hi here n i seem to be missing a lot in this forum. I really cant catch up reading all the posts.

My hayley now ends up coughing.. brought her to c doc again last evening as her medicine running out. I had a super hard time feeding her milk, she keep playing n refusing to drink fast fast. Moreover, i got to coax n sing songs to her to make her drink. Aiyoh!! OMG.. how to bring her out the next time?? so embrassing.

At least her milk intake increases a bit to 650ml /day. Now she back to ebm totally as i worry fm too heaty for her. I try to reduce her cereal intake slightly, so to make her drink more milk. Btw, is the healthy times brown rice cereal same as those new brown rice grain?? My hayley like to eat the brown rice cereal but we feed her alternate days bet. white rice n brown rice cereal as scared too heaty.
Updates~ hayley got 2 teeth popping out on her lower gums.. soo cute.

Yah.. feel very exasperated and sim tia that its just sooo hard to feed my gal whether its milk or cereal! My gal struggling to finish 100ml (2.5 ~ 3 hourly interval). Seeing how some babies here can finish 180ml so envious man. Hubby 'blame' me when i complaint to him and kept saying like mother like daughter coz I oso eat very little.. hehe..

Maybe Nestle got some incentives for PD? (ooh oh.. will I get sue for saying such things anot? :p ) Coz my PD oso ask me to give my bb nestle cereal. somemore she can pass me the nestle brochure and tell me they are suitable for weaning babies! that time my gal only 4mths+ and when i questioned her whether its too early... she say "no, 4 mths is okay.. see the brochure states 4 mths+ can start on cereal already". anyway since then i changed pd liao.

Good luck on your new maid! My brother oso changed his maid even though she love and take good care of my nephew. Same reason lor.. coz she stole from them. That maid very funny oso.. once my brother brought them all to the country club swimming pool.. and she suddenly rush to the toilet (my bro thot she diarrhea or what) then the next thing he know.. she suddenly jump into the pool to swim liao. She actually went to the toilet to change into another t-shirt. hahah!My bro very lucky coz the new maid is sooo much better than the old one!

My gal schedule oso something like that 7pm++ sleep till about 1am+ to drink. Then its like 2~3 hourly feed. But as mentioned, sometimes she will guai guai drink up (can be up to 100ml), sometimes just 1 or 2 suck then stop liao!

Someone mentioned abt giving water during the nite (forgot who! sorry~)... but during the day she drink so little liao.. is it still advisable to replace milk w water? Dunno if she dont have milk at nite, will she drink up more during the day? (Mummies, please give me your opinions!!! thanks)

Envy Envy.. i decide to stop liao lar. my BF-ing carrer. my intiention is minumum to LUN until 6mths. today official 6mths liao. yday i pumped out after bb latch oni pumped out 20ml. sooo devasted..I felt waste of time to pump, wash & sterilise. Nw will not pump out to store EBM in MIL hse liao. will instead let bb latch liao. anyway bb suckling will be more & better than pumping cos i always hear her swallowing "loud" (like we adult drink plain water lidat).
But now wont totally immed stop cos my hse still hv 1/2tin of Anmum breastfeeding milk powder will finish that to add "dessert" or "appertizer" (~learn from linette.. hehe~) for my bb.

or why not u tell ur mom say.. her hse & ur hse very far. u aldy tired out this 6mths of travelling liao. wish to find 1 near ur home one. cos got frd recommend. say let the nanny trial 1 mth then see how. if no good return back to ur mom lor. so she listen liao.. more 婉转 her heart also more smoothen mah.
 


soooo sad see so many of u gals babies start teething. Mine not yet leh. Earlier was many many salivia.. so thot teeth coming. but then hor my MIL saw white white thing on my gal gums. she say that thing no good one according to her MIL (my hb granny).say must burst it. dunno what the hell is her theory. no choice lar. she elderly listen to her lor.
