Than i think i will faint too if there is one near..... never expect it to be so ex!!! Maybe you can get other choice like bb sitter if you really dun want a maid. Maybe you let me know where you stay and you are looking for which area bb sitter. I might be able to help you coz i know alot of aunty and they are really good at sourcing for this kind of nanny things

haha jilian, i definitely not the fussy type. before our part timer started, u shud see the amount of housework i left undone... my excuse was pg women need lots of rest... can't do it all :p

1sttimemum, i work in paya lebar road/airport road area, hubby's office at shenton, we live in katong (so it's about half way between my office n hubby's office). so best is around katong/marine parade/kallang area so in case there's anything, either of us can rush over easily. if u can help us find, will be very grateful. so far all the aunty i know i asked already but no one got any lobang. even my frens/colleagues also no lobang.

Wow..tt infant centre soo expensive?? I didnt know tt..cant imagine how pple who sent their kids there can afford it..they should really consider lowering e fees to benefit more people.

Hehelike u, I dont really fancy e idea of having them staying w me..but bobian leh..for e sake of my bb, as I definitely doubt I want to b a SAHM, I hv to get them to help 2 take care as my parents also prefer to b e free & easy type. Beside, travelling up & down daily can be rather tirring given tt we dun hv a car..Im also not for the idea of seeing my bb once a week only..like dat definitely no bond between us.
Wow..u lucky gal..able to work from home..my company, though wanted to b family oriented..has yet to implement such policies leh..:p
 
re infant centre cost.... i was also shocked. but i got these rates off the Min of Youth/Community website where they list all the registered child/infant care centres.

those are full day rates, but even the half day rates not cheap. about $800 - $1000! (plus the subsidy drops to $200 only) not sure if it's cos of my location cos i didn't check those far away from my place.
 
hi ladies, thanks for the encouragement.. will give him bm as long as i can.. beside time, care and love, i think this is another important thing i can give him.. this morning went to poly clinic to check on his jaundice condition.. gosh, long Q!!! the Q was all the way out of the building.. Went alone with Nixon, carrying him under the hot sun, all sweat, all the long wait, go up and down of the building for registration, seeing doc, go lab do blood test and go back to doc again.. gosh..

luckily the doc said he's ok, dun have to go back to poly clinic to check on his condition anymore

was busy cleaning and feeding him when we were home as he poo poo at poly clinic and after i changed him to new diaper, he poo poo again... headache.. but managed to catch some sleep in the afternoon after i expressed out bm and feed him..

still thinking if i should get the cl or not, cos i'm more or less can handle nixon liao, as long as he dun cry.. keke.. his crying always make me lost.. is just tat will be harder on my mum..

still have 2.5 weeks to go before nixon's full month..

now, nixon and me are staying at my mum's place and hubby staying at his own place.. kinda miss him too.. cos only get to see him once or twice a week till to his work commitment.. feel lost and helpless sometimes when he's not around..

I stay at kallang but doubt can find one here coz i did check around my area so far dun have it lor..... maybe i can check with my office aunty and see if got any lobang for paya lebar or marine parade.... hope can source for that. I just find that infant care too ex liao... imagine that you almost put all your salary towards there and + the transport and everything which i find it not worth at all. I only earn $1500 per month if to put in infant care than i would rather be a SAHM....wahaha

you are really a great mum and i must look upon to you leh!! I am wondering if i can cope with bb alone but i will try coz you have set a good example for me!!!! Keep up the good job but if you are tired than maybe get a half month CL which will cost $800 which i did a check with PEM before......

ya, CL agency!! That time i did consider to have one for 2 weeks but find it really ex so i am dun think i want liao.... coz MIL coming to Singapore to help up but becoz she knows nothing about confinement so think to have a CL around and teach her abit but end up i am the one dun want..... not worthy it, rather take the money for other uses!! How's you massage???

Sounds like you are manging pretty well despite the fact that your CL played you out in the last minute.. really 'pei fu' you! Like what the rest of the ladies here suggested.. you might want to consider engaging a CL say for half a month.. as you ought to be resting and recuperating as much as possible? But of course.. you know best.. and listen to your body... whether or not you need the help of a CL.. as it is just another 2.5 weeks to go..

Hmm.. guess it is a little too late liao.. cos you've got to sign up on the same day as us in order to be eligible for the discount. Think you can contact some of the May or June MTBs.. think they are consdiering signing up for cordlife (from what I read). You can also contact RuiLing from cordlife for more info.. her no is 91763353

How much discount did she give? I think stemcord is $250 cheaper than cordlife. What is the reason u choose cordlife since u will deliver at Gleneagle?

The discount given is for group sign up of 3 pple or more.. discount is standard across cordlife.

Initial Fee: $1470 (w GST)
Sub annual fee: $262.50 (fixed for 21 years)

Discount given: $100 off second year annual fee

The reason why I chose cordlife..

- Its parent company; Cygenics is a listed company (thus deemed to be more stable)
- It has offices worldwide
- It is AABB accredited (you can go to the website to read up on this)
- Stemcord is a local company (personally I dont feel as secure if I were to bank my bb's cord blood with them)

The above is just my 2 cents worth.. different mothers will have different opinions.. hope this helps!

They will give you a kit once you sign up with them.. and you are to bring the kit along with you when you get admitted.. just show it to the nurses / gynae.. GlenE has been cooperating with cordlife on many cases liao.. they shld know what to do.. but good to let your gynae know b4 hand also..

You're doing great! I think the first few weeks/months is like that one. We wonder how we can cope. But after adapting and getting used to it, it'll get easier as time goes by. So your mom's doing the cooking/cleaning for you as well as helping with the baby? Maybe if you want to give her some time to rest, you want to try catering confinement food for the next 2 weeks? They do have 2 week packages. And they can add on normal tingkat for per pax. So then your mom will have food too.

Super expensive right? Sigh. I suppose for parents who have no other option, then no choice.

Actually that depend on your company lah, if they are really understand than maybe no penalty but still diffcult to say lor.... huh!! for my case, i really cannot tahan to be a SAHM coz i will either turn myself crazy or turn my hubby crazy.... wahaha!!! My ah lao also dun want me to be SAHM coz he say i will be too free by than and start to anyhow think liao, which is quite true lor!!

Yups, not everybody can be SAHM. I really admire those who can. That's why I was trying so hard to find a compromise. One that can let me be more involved with the baby, and at the same time have outside interaction. Hopefully it works out. If not will be SAHM liao. Then I help you take care of your baby lah. :p

Actually I did tell my hubby if in future my working arrangements don't work out and I stay at home and take care of baby. I might as well kill two birds with one stone. Take in one or two more babies to take care. Then like you said, get extra income and the babies can play together. But now no experience yet, so cannot. Maybe later can consider.

1sttimemum, for the first week, i think still someone to take care of the baby.. cos u wont be able to sit comfortably, after delivery, to feed ur baby and baby needs so many feeding a day.. for me, the first week, baby was still in hospital, i was still quite ok.. but have to go hospital everyday to see him, to bring my expressed bm for him.. managed to feed him everytime i go but the cant sit too long cos of the stitches and the wound.. this week quite ok though still in recovering period...

for my post natal massage, i've engaged the same lady (Khatija) as jilian recommended, hunniepot also using her.. will start the first session this thursday cos tomolo going to do baby's birth cert.. was given 2 weeks but we didn't agreed on each others' name for the baby.. so sad... :p

hunniepot, still coping with it.. although tiring to look after the little, but quite enjoy doing it.. especially when he smile at me, "wink" at me.. all tiredness gone.. can feel the bond between us now...

Must tell us if Auntie Khatijah good or not ok? I love massages leh but so far haven't gone for any pre-natal ones, cos like quite expensive. Just relax for your massage and enjoy for a short time. Remember to feed baby first or express ebm so your mom can feed if baby gets fussy during your massage. Take this hour off for yourself.

Thanks for your advise... just now also told my sis that if she is free than must come up to my house and see if everything is okay and becoz MIL dunno how to cook confinement food so must try to get some basic recepie to teach her. Everyday will eat almost the same kind of food liao but as for herb soup, i think i will just dump everything into the slow cooker and cook so every night can at least have a good soup to drink.

jilian, ya, had arranged the time with her liao.. my mum only come back for bring me lunch and bathe baby at the same time, then go back to her stall, bring me dinner then go back to work again.. when she reaches home after work, she needs to wash mine and baby's clothes, boil the milk bottles, teats, make red date drink for me.. like endless job for her.. sigh.. how's ur preparation?

1sttimemum, my mum cooks the confinement food for me everyday.. basically all ginger and sesame oil lor. but eat more fish cos it will increase bm.. i'm still ok with all ginger meal.. cos i'm not really fussy over food.. but i've cut down on ginger and sesame, meaning i dun eat the ginger and cravy but the vege and meat.. cos the nurse told me big quantity of ginger and sesame will increase my baby's jaundice level if i give him bm.. for those "bu-pin", my mum said must wait for 2 weeks then can take.. and for chicken, must wait till wound recover then take.. my mum used to be confinement lady, so she knows wat can eat, wat's not.. hmm.. i try to get some recipe from her then pass to u, ok.. ciao

Only washed baby's cotton diapers so far. His 0-3 months clothes not washed yet. Some stuff like mattress and breast pump and bottles haven't bought yet. Waiting for the baby expo, hopefully got good deals. Also haven't ordered my confinement catering yet. Only thing is reserved Auntie Khatijah and signed Cordlife. Haha...

If I go into labour tomorrow I sure die one, cos nothing prepared yet. *touch wood* But I give myself deadline. By end March everything should be done. *fingers crossed*
 
I am super boring le..... nothing to do. Now waiting to go home, how i wish i could pack and go home so at least can go back to do some packing rather than staying in the office doing nothing!!! I am thinking to cook the fish tail and papaya soup this weekend and start to drink liao coz i read from one of the thread that we can prepare ourselves now so when bb is born the milk will be establish. Dunno how true but my sis say can try as is no harm and fish is good. Try out also to find out nice to drink or not.... haha!!
 
Just to check if there is anyone here with a smoker at home??? Thinking to buy a air purifier to put inside the house to clear out the room.... anyone can recommend me which brand is good and how much do i have to pay for??
