IVF/ICSI Support Group

Hi humbug,
welcome to the thread. Yes, throw the resignation letter in her face when you succeed. I thought your boss is a male boss but such a mean lady boss is terrible.

Hi babylou,
hope your hubby will be better after seeing the specialist. Dr Zou is super, sometimes hear her advise patients on other symptoms that is not related to ivf. Think even if i am no longer her patient in future, if got illness will still go to her. Chinese herbs definitely have less harm on the health for long term sake.

hi all
Called my centre and was told the grade of the 5 fertilised eggs at Day 2 are
- 4 grade 1- (4 cells)
- 1 grade 1 (5 cells)
A bit more relieved after hearing this. ET was orginially scheduled to be tmr. But the embryologist said if they put in 3 and freeze 2, the chances for the 2 grade 1- embryos to survive is only abt 60%... we may end up with nothing for FET anyway. So she suggested that we wait for 1-2 more days and choose the best 3 for transfer and save the cost of freezing. But, i read in this post before that it is not advisable to leave the embryos outside for too long! In any case, they will performed AH tmr cos it will be harder to do AH when the embryos spilt into too many cells. They are also okay if we are set to do the transfer tmr. To us, we will go for whichever that offer a higher chance.. so now, we are like on standby day by day.

Anyone of u did ET on Day 5 instead of the usual Day 3?

humbug
welcome to the thread... ya, once u hv set ur priority, nothing can stop it

if u really need to resign, yes, do it with pride and professionally! All the best!

BlesswBB,
yes, I did have white discharge during 2WW, probably due to the progesterone jabs daily. You are having the pregynl jabs, right? So the injections may contribute to that too. Anyway, it is indeed symptoms of pregnancy to feel nausea and lots of white discharge, however do not pay too much attention to all these, they are the most important and reliable. Just stay good mood and think positively during your 2WW.
All the best to you!

nancy,

No AH done before freezing. AH will be carried out after thawed.

Think they have changed their practice. I get to know my embryos grade the very next day after ER.

Yes, you need to sign paper for freezing your embryos. They will mail you yr embryos photos later.

nancy,

PLS IGNORE MY PREVIOUS POST.

No AH done before freezing. AH will be carried out after thawed. Yes, you need to sign paper for freezing your embryos and get to know embryos grade. They will mail yr embryos photos to you later.

Next month coming soon... good luck for your FET then. Oh, u better rest well and avoid crowded places... there is this after CNY flu virus flying around. I dun feel any pain after ER, no blood too. I think Dr Cheng is quite skillful

Breezy
btw, did you have two embryos to freeze? i was just wondering why she said the chances of survival for freezing the two embryos are slim.

linda - oh icic, i must hv read one of the oldest post. i think ivf is a mental torture... lots of waits, anxiety, worries, excitement, but all for a good course. jia you jia you!

Hello everyone,
Just started my puregon injection today as I had to extend my lucrin shots.

Ellsa, Babydreamzy,
How are both of you all doing?

Anyone else in stage 2 now?

Bee, Nancy,
All the best for the upcoming ET.

Humburg, JK, Heart, itjabi, WANQS,
Welcome to the thread.

Heart, what do you mean by 'How is SGH with IVF?' Do you mean their success rates or ??

WANQS, SGH will freeze the unused fertilized embryos, which can be used for FET process

Hi

My mock transfer is successful. Dr Loh did comment my path from cervix to uterus is difficult, there's a tilted 45 degree angle, but he uses a special clip to straighten the cervix for the transfer. There's pain felt (but i can tolerate it) as long as the catheter can be inserted in. Lucky no sedation and other surgery required. Dr Loh is quite skillful in this compared to my previous gynae who kept poking the area blindly till the catheter enters it. For my past 2 ET there's bleeding, but this time round, there's no spotting. I will start my IVF once my period start

hi libby,

that's really great to hear!!!

so glad that dr. loh can do it in a better way for you!!!

good luck!!! ^_^

Hey libby, great to hear about dr loh successful fingers ability to clear the mock transfer ... at least you would be at ease now and be more confident for IVF....

Hi
14/15 embryos survived today. They will freeze them tomorrow. I cant do my ET has dr extracted 31 follicles and fear of OHSS. Need to take 6-8 egg whites for the next 7 days !! Hm...
7 are grade 1, the rest grade 2 and 2-3.

Bee
acc to the embryologist, she said they freeze them in 'STRAW'. One straw can put in abt 6 embryos so when do FET they thaw the straw and survival rate is abt 4/6 embryos.
Wow, u so good. No pain. I was walking like "liang po po" after my ER my tummy was quite bloated. pee also a bit pain. Now still quite bloated once i start to eat...

I once heard Dr zou mentioned that some patients under dr cheng do ET on day 5 instead of day 3. Apparently, higher successful rate. One even had twins. She showed me the pic, one boy and one girl. Stay positive !!!

Jia you

Itjabi
Thanks. Good and bad for such cases. Many eggs but cant do fresh ET. I will be going back for FET in April/May period due to OHSS. How to prevent it? I guess I response too well to GonalF for my age. I am 36.

Since it's first cycle, dr have to start with little first then increase dosage along along the way. But if u increase too much, the bigger eggs grow too fast and there are fewer eggs.

If u dun increase the dosage, the bigger eggs stop growing to mature size cycled failed. That's why i read somewhere that successful rate is higher in second cycle as the doc already has history of u.

Babylou
Hi. Hope ur hubby's irregular heartbeat is due to the cold. I once had irregular heartbeat too as i was talking a medication that i was allegic too. It's good to get it checked.

Blesswbb
Thanks for the link. Nuts i like hee...how are u feeling? BFP

Thanks. Yes, the lab told me only after thawing then see if i need to do AH. U must take care.

hi Nancy

Wow, congrats! so happy to know you have 7 grade 1 embryos..

your no. of follicles were almost 3 times of mine, i guess the many needle pokings and suction have resulted in the slight pain at the tummy. hope the pain goes away soon. Ask for more MC to rest if needed. they are quite generous on this! my tummy is also bloated, the ginger tea doesnt seem to help much.

Itjabi
It really depends on individual condition. My IVF cycle is the same as Nancy. I am 36 too. We were both on 300IU for GonalF for the first 5 days. If i remembered correctly, Dr increased her dosage thereafter as follicles growth seemed a little slow. I stayed at 300IU cos a few follicles were growing well though there were not many. On ER day, I only have 12 follicles, while she has 31... but like what most sisters said, all we hope is 1-2 good embryos that can hatch and clinch onto the womb lining eventually. All the best!

Nancy
Read the cost for freezing. 1st 3 straw (incl 6 months storage) is $513, subsequent every 1 straw is $107. since 1 straw can hold upto 6 embryos, actually with $513, one can freeze upto 18 embryos. but, mine two embryos will still cost $513... hmmm... not so worth it..

Hi koko,

Im doing gd, only that last night my whole body was aching and im feeling nausea and giddy. So i took MC for today..hehe

Will start on puregon tmr.. and im so nervous..

So today was ur 1st puregon jab, how was it? When is ur next check up? if im not wrong we will on puregon for 2wks be4 going on to stage 3?

Bee
Thanks. I can very contented with the results. Dun worry too much abt the day 3 or day 5 ET. They will advised the best for you.

Since we decided to put our fate in their hands but you still must voice out the spilled sample incident though. Let's jia you together.

Try to rest as much after the ET though really can bored to tears at home
happy.gif
I also asked Rebecca when i can start to do exercise also got scolding from her haha ....Hope the next time we meet is at Dr cheng clinic on Level ONE.

Bee
Today I went to sign the freezing consent and paid like a 4 digit sum. Freezing plus the extra for ICSI and medication. Currently, All the bills are in a file, didnt dare to take a calculator to calculate.

TO do FET got additonal costs like hormones jabs etc. So more costs. Anyway, what's impt to do our best and try for a chance. What i can do now is rest and boiling the eggs hee.....

December
TFC doesnt have govt grant but can use 6k from Medisave for first timer. TFC have this package $4922 that cover consultations, lad prep(1st 10 eggs), doc' fees for ER and ET only.

The package doesnt cover drugs like gonalF, tests, freezing, insurance, anaeathetic fees, AH etc. For the balance $1000 from medisave u can use it on what package DOESNT cover. Bee, correct me if i can wrong

Nancy is right. I have used up the medisave $6000, and have to pay in cash now... paid abt $2700 so far. At TFC, the cash outlay is abt $6000-$7000 depending on how much drugs we used and if we opt for ICSI, AH etc... we dun enjoy the $3000 grant from govt.

i keep a folder of all payments too, including past surgery, gynae fees... didnt dare to calculate them too.

hope govt increase subsidise for all type of medical in future or at least increase the amt from medisave!

bee,

Good to hear that you fine after ER
happy.gif

Ha....are you fortune teller? I had flu during CNY. Still not fully recover yet coz flu trigger asthma. Working hard to recover asap.

Hmmm....I also wondering why the survival for freezing the two embryos are slim. There is one lady have nothing to transfer during her FET. Her 2 or 3 embryos did not survive after thawed. Feel so sorry for her.

nancy,

Really happy for you and bee
happy.gif
Have many grade 1 embryos!

Meantime have good rest and 'bu' your body once fully recover.

Yes, will take care myself, thank you.

breezy
can fortune teller earn a reasonable living?? if it does, i dun mind to be one... :D well, i caught the flu virus during CNY too at my suppression stage. luckily i recovered just b4 ER but still had a mild cough, nothing serious now.. a lot of my colleagues fell sick too. guess the hot-cold weather plus the junk food we took during CNY play a part in causing all these... hope u recover soon, take care!

Hi ellsa,

Hope you will get better soon ..

My hubby did the puregon injection for me with guidance from the nurse today. Thank God that it is not painful!

The nurse told me the estimated injection for puregon is 12 days. I need to go back for a scan on day 6 to determine if I am reacting well.

To all ladies who are with kkh,

1. Do you inject puregon in the morning together with lucrin?
2. I read somewhere that kkh combines the remaining puregon .. how do they do it?

I am asking this becos the nurse told me to inject puregon at night at the same time. And the nurse also said they do not combine the remaining puregon. Just thought if we can save some money as puregon is really expensive!

k0k0
wah, ur hubby is so brave! i hv to do it myself cos hubby didnt dare to poke me.

not sure abt KK, but at TFC where they use GonalF, the nurse said it doesn't really matter if it is morning/afternoon/night but if possible inject it almost at the same time everday. they advised me to do it at night b4 sleep cos that's the time i am most relax

Hi Koko and Ellsa,

Today is my D2 of puregon. Puregon is much painful as compared to lucrin. There is a tingling sensation after injecting puregon. So far not much symptoms except for v slight cramping.

I took both lucrin and puregon at the same time in the morning. One after another. I am currently on 200 dosage. What abt u, Koko? I will going for us on day 7.

Hi Ladies, Thanks for the welcome.

KOKO, folic acid can be taken before or after food. It does not matter whichever way as per my gyne.

As for the Lucrin and Purgeon, it is best to be in the evening cause you have to do it the same time everyday.

For e.g. if you inject at 10pm from Day 1, you have to inject the entire cycle at 10pm, if you are unable to make it the same time, you are allowed to inject either 2 hours before 10pm OR 2 hours after 10pm.

Most people do in the night as they are relax and at home.

As for the last 100ml of puregon for the 7 bottles, the nurse will inject all into one big needle... if you need that last jab, they will do it at the IVF centre at one go in one injection. Don't worry they will not jab you with the puregon pen for 7 times
happy.gif
. I went thru that so I know, they jab me with 700ml of purgeon at one go. But that one jab is super painful and the pain will last like 1 day...no joke..
