Ectopic Pregnancy

Hi Ronniemini,

Don't tell me you want to take the risk of continuing your EP?

The article is one in a million rare case. It is better to seek your gy opinion then taking the risk.

I always believe that god is fare, it take away something from you and it will give you something in return.

Takecare.

ronniemini, it depends on where the baby is implanted at. if it's in the tubes, there is no chance of surviving it at all. Even if it's in the stomach, it's still way too dangerous to continue the pregnancy. that case is a miracle and too rare to bring it up as example.
hope you are not a victim of EP.

Diana, happy holiday!!!

Hi Diana,
happy.gif
. I was quite negative last time. I would wonder why must I have an EP. Sometimes, things are just beyond our control. Be optimistic, now I am convinced that if we are happy and we learn to relax our mind and ourselves, things will eventually happen. Pple always say, they forget about TTC and then it just happen. I am a firm believer of that now.

My previous doc did tell me that having gone through 1 EP, my risk of having another increased tremendously, but there is always IVF. I used to be quite upset becoz he sounded so insensitive, but now I think about it, IVF also not bad, 1 time can strike at least 1 baby if successful.

Gambatte and dont worry too much k!!!

Hi angelsky, thanks for the encouragement. I really hope to TTC asap. But I guess got to wait for atleast 3 months after the op.

How many children do you have now?

Does any one of you have 3 kids or more after EP?

I hope to have atleast 3 kids if possible.

hi all, i have done my op on sunday...removed one of my tube. Can anyone tell me, will EP happens again on my another tibe...im so scare to TTC again. been thru 1 miscarriage in early jan, and now EP...y me! so devasted.

Hi Serene, I think we must think on the bright side. There are many cases of sucessful pregnancy after EP.

I am also worried about my future. But there is nothing we could do but just relax and look forward.

I understand how you feel. Takecare.

Things happen for a reason. Chinese always say "If it wasn't yours, it'll not be yours" Just wait patiently.

Cheer up.

May i know how long after to TTC again after EP surgery? My gynae say 6mths but i heard some say 3 mths. Rather confusing.

Can i check, after the surgery, how long after did you get your menstruation? I had my surgery 1mth ago, till now no signs of menses yet.

Diana, thanks. still feeling rather down...

San, my friends and my relatives told me to build up my health first before TTC again.
so maybe its because we are too "weak"...so sad...

Hi all, don't feel sad. Sometimes I feel down and depress too. I also eagerly, desperatly wanted to TTC. But I think at the mean time we got to takecare of our body and health, to prepare for the future.
Like now, my mom will cook some herbal soup for me. I tried to avoid junk food, cold stuff and also cut down on sweet stuff.
My gynea advise me to TTC after 3 month. I guess it is a case to case basis. Better listen to your gynea advise.

Lets all work hard to keep our body fit.
Cheer up ladies.

So at least i know the minimum period is 3 mths. But now i also worry when will my menses come agin. sianz.

hey, wish to check...after ur EP...how long ur menses will end? i have done my EP last week...till now still having spotting leh...

Hi Ladies,

Need some help. Quite at lost now. Had been trying for this pregnancy for 2 yrs.

Tested BFP and done my beta hcg blood test on 13 Nov, and is 542.9. Today{18 Nov}did another beta hcg, and was only 1100, quite slow to double up. My gynea's nurse suspects might be an ectopic pregnancy. Had an apptment with gynea on this coming Thursday(20Nov)for scanning. But I don't have any cramps, pain or spotting. Can anyone plse kindly advise.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Cacao, how many weeks pregnant are you currently at? Sometimes with an ectopic you may not have any symptoms at all. If you feel any pain, remember to call the gyne asap. I did not have any pain at all when I have my EP, however I had brown spotting before it was discovered to be EP. Feel free to ask any questions, will be glad to help in anyway

.

Thank you very much angelsky!

I haven't see my gynea yet, so also don't know how many weeks am I now. My LMP is 7 oct. Is already 6 weeks past my LMP date. So if based on cycle 35 days, should be 5 weeks. Cos my previous cycle(sep)is 40 days. Some delay after doing SO-iui and took progesterone. Usually my cycle fall within 32-35days.

May I ask when(how many weeks) did you have your brown spotting? Do you have any backache?

Thanks
happy.gif

Maybe still early ba? Sometimes you may not be able to see the sac in the womb so soon after testing positive
happy.gif
.

Actually as soon as I discovered I was expecting I had brown spotting already. But that pregnancy took us by surprise so I did not keep track of my cycle then. I did not have backache but I had shoulder pain, which is also one of the symptoms of EP. You feel as if you have sprain your neck, but the pain is in the shoulder blades instead.

No prob
happy.gif
, glad to be of help to you.

I had my spotting at about 6 weeks. There is no pain or any symptom except bleeding for my case. My gynea did the blood test for me twice and my beta hcg was rather low too, but my gynea told me that I had a black spot near my right overy. From this findings, he suspect that I had EP. And I did my op on the same day that my gynea suspect its an EP.
In my case, I was lucky as I did my op immediately because I already begin to bleed internally but still did not feel any pain.
Cacao, takecare. Things will be fine.

Hi angelsky,

Yah, maybe is still early to tell or too early for Ep symptom to start. Still have one more night of waiting, before getting the answer from my gynea. The waiting time is killing me!!!

Hi Diana,

Can you remember your beta hcg level for both blood test? Thanks for sharing.

My first beta hcg is about 650+ then it double up to about 1100 after 2 days.
What ever the news is jus keep calm n cool. Takecare.

Thanks Diana, I'm trying very hard to keep cool and calm, but is so hard. Did another blood test, result is not out yet. I'm totally stress out. Again thank you so much!

Diana, I had a good cried. As HCG not progressing well. 13nov:542.9 18Nov:1100+ 20Nov:1500+. Gynea said mostly is EP, and also did the virginal scanning. My gynea told me he couldn't find and said let it discharge by itself. Isn't it very dangerous to let the body discharge by itself?

At the same time, I also emailed Curl for her gynea's contact, afraid mine case is rare like her. Can I have your gynea's contact? Would like to seek 2nd opinion. I don't who should I go to. Totally at lost.

Thank you in advance.

If it is EP then shall not wait. My gynea is Dr Henry Cheng @ bishan. Call 6552 7377.
Go for 2nd opinion for a more affirmative answer. Be strong.

harlow.. happen to see this thread again..
Serene, the ans is yes, i had endometrisis, cyst & fibroid, removed.
then i ttc, then got spotting & pain, found out its EP, removed my tube.
God bless, i was sucessful after half yr of trying. my ger is 2yrs old now... i am ttcing again... So dun worry... be possitive..

hi cacao, how is it ? wat did your 2nd gyne said ?
03Dec:118 05Dec:200 was my reading, think mine was a late pregnancy, doc couldnt see anything while scanning on 03Dec.
I waited till 15Dec & did my 2nd scanning, thank God, its not EP again..

Jia you to everyone who is TTcing after EP !

Hi Blessed,

I went to Nuh for my 2nd opinion, seen by Prof Biswas, he is specialises in high risk pregnancy. From my 1st two blood test results, he said mostly is a ectopic, because normally hcg will sure to double up in 2 days. After the scanning, he confirmed is a ectopic. So send me for treatment, vaccination to stop the cells from growing. He said is still early stage so don’t need to go for op. I’m so glad that I had read the above cases and move on to seek for 2nd opinion. Ectopic is life threatening, so pls don’t wait if you find something not right.

p/s: Prof. Biwas mentioned definitely be able to see the sag when hcg is at 1000 plus.

So happy for you.

Does any one know what is the chances of conceiving after 1 tube been removed?
TTCing now, but have doubt about the % of getting pregnant again.

hi tanly, docs will tell you 50% of the chance every month you TTC. When get pregnant after EP, first thing must inform doc and see doc asap, so that doc can monitor.

hi tanly, dun worry so much & jst TTC happily. I had EP & my left tube was removed. The doc sent me to test my right tube was he said doesnt look too healthy (saw while removing my left tube via laprosocopy).

I manage to conceive twice after EP, my ger is 2 yrs now & i am 6weeks preggy.

Yes, for those who had EP before, like what angelsky said, shld go to gyne asap abt 6weeks preggy to do a scan to make sure that it is not an EP.

Hi all, i just joined the forum. I saw this forum and would like to share my experience abt ectopic pregnancy. I realised i was pregnant in early novemeber. During then, I was having my mensus, it had started on the same day from last month, so I thought i was having my regular mensus. However, what differs from previous mensus is that I was having cramps alomost everyday till i couldnt take it. I decided to go n see a GP to get a MC for the day. The GP suggested that i took the urine test to confirm if im pregnant. The test came out positive. I was happy n worried at the same time as i had already been 'menstruating' for 10 days.

The GP recommended me to a clinic at Mt E. i went immediately. The doctor did a probe but couldnt find any sac in my womb. It was supposed to be 5.5 weeks. I told him of my 'bleeding' condition n he prescribed me a drug to stop the bleeding. He also took my blood test and told me to go back 2 days later. I was still worried, so i decided to call up a gynae at Glens which i had went for checkup previously. The gynae also took my blood test, however, he wanted me to admit immediately n had complete bedrest for 2 days. Also, he couldnt find the sac in my womb. He suggested that i shld do another blood test 2 days later to see if my HCG level has doubled. Unfortunately, the hormone level went down slightly n a varginal scan still didnt show the sac. The gynae sugguested that he will do a D&C to clear/ wash my womb. When i heard, i was crying. Few hrs later, D&C completed n i went home. The gynae asked me to go back to his clinic to do another blood test few days later to confirm that the hormone level had dropped to a safety level.

I did the D&C on 7 Nov and went for the blood test the following week. To my horror, the hormone level is still as high as before the wash. The gynae suspected it was ectopic pregnancy as he couldnt find any sac in my womb. Then he asked my to go for a detailed transvirginal scan to find exactly where is the sac. Through the scan, he saw some mass in my fallopian tube. He wanted me to go for the laproscopy immediately. I was so shocked when i heard i had to undergo surgery. So i did the laproscopy on the same day n went back the next day. The gynae also diagnoised me with endometriosis when he removed the moss in my tube. I guess ectopic pregnancy occured becos I had endometriosis.

Currently, it had been slightly a month after the surgery. The gynae couldnt gurantee that my fallopian tube is 100% clear. He removed whatever blockage he can see during the surgery. I am worried that the bad experience will happen again. My mensus finally came back, my cramp was so painful that I couldnt sleep throughout the nite. My confidence level in trying to conceive is low. Sometimes, i can feel slight pain in my fallopian tube...

Hi Twin Star, I did my op about 3 months ago. Now sometimes I still feel some slight pain on my left abdominal (I got my right tube removed). I think after your op it will take some time to recover. Have a good rest and eat well to get well faster.
I am currently ttc, hopefully things will be fine. I am also slightly worry after a bad experience. But willing to take the gamble again.
I guess we all got to think positive.

Hi Tanly,

So good to see your reply. Thank u for the support. My EP is at my right tube and the doctor had cleared it out. I can feel mild discomfort after more than 1 month from my surgery. Even this month, i have the same feeling on my left side. Have you heard if one can still conceive if she doesnt want to undergo the test to clear fallopian tube after EP?

By the way, my sister also had one of her fallopian tube removed when she was very young. Now she is having her first pregnancy. She tried a child for close to 3 years before successful. She tried all methods going to acupuncture/ TCM or gynae visits and even adjust her dietary habits. Finally her efforts paid off.

Now I am eating chinese medicine to help clear my fallopian tube. I dont want to do the HSG test. I guess i will prefer to rest for 3 to 4 months b4 trying again.

Good luck to u : ) Hope to hear your good news.

Hi, I'm new to this thread.

I'm 7 weeks preggy. Initally I was also suspected of EP as my gynac couldn't find the baby at week 5. Went for a vaginal scan yesterday and saw a black dot which is the same size as the scan i did 1 week ago. However, this time there seems to have a white surrounding which I believe its the sac.

My gyna mention it may be the fetus is not growing or that it's growing very slowly. From the books that i read, 6 weeks should be able to see heartbeat. Just wondering if anybody shares the same experience with me?

well, my gynae will monitor me every week to see if there's any progress. If it still does not grow, may have to terminate this pregnancy. really hope the baby inside me will grow...

don't worry too much, just eat healthily and keep your thinking positive. Things will work it's way out.

Today i went for my gynae check. I took a jab for my endometriosis to slow down endometriosis tissues growth. The gynae suggested me to do the HSG test only then will know if my tubes are ok. I dont want to do the test. I hope the chinese medicine will work for me.

Hi Twin Stars,

Why didn't you want to do the HSG test? My gynae mentioned before usually people who has EP before has 3 or 4 more times more chances to have EP again. Thats because if the egg is released from the same side, it would likely get stuck again in the tube.

Hi Mei Ling, pls correct me if I am wrong.
If one of your tube got removed after EP, the chances of EP occuring in the same side is low. Is it correct?

Hi Mei Ling,

I heard that HSG is painful and I am scared of pain. It is done when one is conscious. I do have a condition called virginismsus (not sure of the spelling) so i feel uncomfortable just having the thought of putting something into my virginal. It is really difficult for me to be pregnant with all these conditions. Really sad. Everything now depends on fate and luck.

Hi Twin Stars,
I understand how you feel too. I have been taking blood tests and vaginal scan every week. Always drag to do all this.

And Tanly, here's what I got from the net:

Salpingostomy: this conservative procedure involves removal of the part of the fallopian tube that contains the conceptus. It is done to maximize the preservation of the tube for subsequent fertility. The 2 ends of the cut tube are rejoined after healing has taken place. The woman should be informed that rejoining the tubes results in a decreased fertility and thus a higher rate of recurrent ectopic pregnancy.
Salpingectomy: this procedure involves the removal of the whole fallopian tube on the side where the ectopic occurred. It is done if conservative surgery is not possible, like when the tube is damaged or deformed. This procedure decreases fertility even more than salpingostomy; there is the chance of subsequent ectopic pregnancy, but not as much as with salpingostomy. It is important to understand that this surgery itself does not cause more ectopics. It is simply that women who had an ectopic because of one abnormal tube are more likely to have the same abnormality in the other tube, and thus more chance of an ectopic.

I just went for review yesterday. I had a jab for my endometriosis condition. Has to take another 2 more jabs to complete. Not sure this is effective in controlling endo. Does anyone knows if I shld try to conceive fast or jab to control the condition?

Mei Ling, so when are u going for your checkup?
