im going for OSCAR cum gynae appt coming thurs... can OSCAR scan see gender? haha if not, dunno when my gynae will arrange for next appt. hopefully not after a month...

 
Wow, so many mummies get to know the gender of your bb, so excited. We rushed out to buy baby gal clothes immediately after my detailed scan 3 years back... since my #1 is a gal, everybody been asking me if my #2 is a boy, worst is my mum n MIL told my gal to tell me she want a didi... Anw, I don't really care cos I'm more concerned on bb's health rather than gender. If bb is a boy then the oldies wish will be granted, if gal then my #1 will have a playmate n hopefully won't be as naughty... Clothes n toys can be shared too...



Re : tummy size

Mine is really exploding n I just asked my maid to bring out all my maternity clothes to wash n iron over the weekend... I'm only week 14 now... Even my gynae told me at week 11 that all my colleagues should know but I told her nobody asked me as I try to conceal by wearing bb doll dresses...Mb they know that I'm panting thats y din ask...

 
I don't know leh... that time when I did OSCAR, I was only at my 11 weeks. So the concern was to ensure bb was healthy. My appt is always 4 weeks apart. Don't worry, you will know in due time.

 
I understand from my gynae that Oscar is done 11-14 wks. The triple test is from 15-18 weeks. I opt for Oscar n at that time, the foetal length is of the right size so we just go ahead.

 
Yup, I also heard Oscar is only accurate between 11 - 14 weeks. Beyond that, cannot be done.



The sound of the word triple test is already scaring me. The needles. Mine is this Friday.

Re gender: Heng my MIL didnt put pressure on me. To us, as long as bb is healthy - that the MOST important. Only my mum hoping for boy.. haha.. she worried if i get a gal again this time round, we may ended up with 3rd bb. Living expenses are high in SG so my mom dun encourage too many bbs.. haha..

 
Pommes - Congrats on finding out the gender! Hope I'll get to know in 2 weeks' time (18 weeks by then). Maybe I should also "bribe" baby with the first gift! Haha!



Cramps - My sinseh advised to take calcium supplements at night to prevent cramps. I am a regular sufferer of leg cramps since sec sch days. Since being pregnant, so far so good (TOUCHWOOD). I take my multi-vits and fish oil in the morning and the calcium tablets at night.



Did the OSCARS at W12 and blood test at W14. Oscars cost 200+ at NUH while blood test was 100 at gynae's clinic. Detailed scan only at W22, is that very late?

 
#1: u shld hope it is a mth. My gynae told me tat if ur bb is fine and healthy we will always ask u to come back in a mth time..

 
By the way, do gynaes issue letters for travelling during pregnancy?



Already confirmed a roadtrip + cruise trip for month of April. Still planning another for May. Hb joked that I'm determined to cover 海陆空 before delivery :p

 
@kylekyra: Yes, mine does and I'm gonna collect it from him this Friday because am going away on a short trip.



You should get it from yours if you are going away cos the immigrations of some countries are very strict about letting pregnant ladies clear customs.

yes.. gynaes will write a note to confirm the weeks of gestation. But gynae told me it is not required until the end stage

 
yating - hmm... I only had OSCAR. Done at gynae's clinic itself, paid $4oo+. the next milestone to clear baby's health is the foetal abnormalities scan (detailed scan). Mine is scheduled at 22 weeks at Camden centre



kyra - have informed gynae about our plan to travel, but since we haven't decided on when and where, will get his letter next visit. Unlikely, we are going anywhere in this 4 weeks.



You going for cruise? We are also thinking of, but haven't book anything yet. What's your package like?



simbaobao - hee hee... gynae first question was "have you all know the sex of the baby? Not yet? You all want to know?" Then he scanned and measured and then showed us baby's penis. He then loudly said "confirmed is a boy."

I'm going for my swim.. finally. Gynae gave green light to exercise now, walking, swimming and hee hee.. sexual intercourse.

 
Lol! Asked my 5 ur old niece to guess if I am carrying a gal or boy, she said gal. She prob prefer gals so can play together? Then I asked what if it's a boy? She replied " I don't mind"

daddysbao, Yating, Gina, SJ, b.isforbb: Thank you for your concern! [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] Fever was 38.5 yesterday, doctor confirmed it to be flu. Given MC for today and tomorrow. Slept from yesterday 9pm till 2pm today! o_O



And Mummies..it is not normal to feel menstrual cramps feeling now, right? But I do not have any spotting..called my clinic and they said if the sensation persists should go to clinic tomorrow. It is not very painful but it is just the usual discomfort. Am considering going to KK 24 Clinic later tonight if the sensation persists...

I think monitor ur situation. If the cramps are not getting worse and no sign of spotting, maybe can see gynae tomorrow if the symptoms persists. Cos i not a big fan of KKH 24 hr. Heard of too many bad experiences

I'm having the Cramps yesterday morning and its lasted for more than an hr. Not sure it is b'cause I walked too much, I rested for quite awhile n the cramps was gone.



Any MTB had the same problem?

 
Cramps feel more like those side aches u get without sufficient warm ups before exercise. Tummy is like wobbling with each step.

 
Drifting in and out of consciousness because of flu meds. The cramps are feel like..when you hold your pee too long. And thing is, I visit toilet often so it can't be that. Maybe will see gynae tomorrow morning if it still persists. Sigh what's wrong with my body.

 
Can't get to Slp again.. Everytime I turned one side n fixed off awhile.. I had mini bad dreams... Nw my head us like gg to burst anytime...

@koume / jojo88: I do get such cramps too but I suppose it's normal unless it's absolutely unbearable. It's on and off so I've never taken it too seriously. As compared to menstrual cramps which is like prolonged aching, this feels more like tight pulls and releases.

Thank you for those who responded to my message. The gynae does not recommend my wife to undergo amniocentesis as the risk level is not really high at a ratio of 1:330. Instead, to ease our anxiousness, he recommended wife to be scanned by a doctor instead of a sonographer at the 20th week detail scanning. Not sure whether it will make any significant difference but I guess a doctor would probably give a more detailed diagnose. Need to top up abit more for that.

Kyra: Yea detailed scan will be done between wk20-22. So u’re right on track! =)



Koume: Are the cramps that you are experiencing strong? Coz I get tight pulling feel too pretty often but we can tend to have these more in the 3rd to 4th month or so coz of the stretching of the ligament that supports the uterus area. But of coz to be safe, do see your gynae if you’re worried yea! Take good care and rest lots today too!

I read somewhere tat as long as cramps are not worse than menses cramp, then it shd be fine. gynae also say cramps are normal as long as not very uncomfortable until need to lie down.

 
Hey mummies - want to ask something silly. We are not suppose to drink milk 2 hours before/ after taking iron pill right. Wonder if we can drink milo then? Cos it contain milk powder so i am worried. I have been drinking milo within 2 hours from taking iron pill all these while.

 


hello mummies.. been 'missing' for quite some time.. last thursday was my week 16 scan.. supposed to see gender, but alas, this naughty one clammed the feet shut and used his/her hands to cover the privates! what a shy baby! after much probing to see if baby will turn or move the hands away, baby decided to sit on his/her butt! it was totally impossible to find out gender.. too bad, gotta wait for another month for the DS.. scheduled on 27th April at TMC..



baby is now 11cm, and mummy gained 1kg in a month.. not too bad, hope the weight gain will not be too rapid.. hehehe



im wearing maternity clothes already, cant fit into any normal clothings.. my tummy looks like 5 months preggy instead of 4 months, and i always attribute it to the fats that were stored in me before that la.. hehe
