(2011/02) Feb 2011

Hi trinket,

We actually booked a place for j for half day school in July thinking he was a little young to go now... But now I feel like I wish July was here already! I don't feel like I am getting much confinement rest at all actually.

Maybe I shd go to a lactation specialist again, like dr wong. my nips are always so sore after he has been at them! Oh yes pls add me to the facebook group georginagray@hotmail.com thanks!

Anyone has an episiotomy ( doc cut to allow baby to come out faster) ? I had one during my firstborn but the pain is not as bad as this one. This is five days and I am really feeling the pain in the area, more than before. Is that normal?

fangfang: I think 5 days still normal.. depends on how long is the episiotomy..

also depends on how fast it is healing..

if u think it is abnormal.. better go see gynae check whether wound is infected?

Hi Ah Ching, glad to hear that it shld still b normal. It was just so painful that I started snapping at my kids when they jiggle me at all. Feeling horrendous for doing that but the painkillers are not working as well as the past few days. I will give it couple more days and see if the pain level subside. Thanks!

Fang fang,

My episiotomy healed faster this time compared to last time. Pain level depends on the severity of your tears and how much yr doc had to cut. Last time it hurt for almost 2 weeks, this time ok after a week.

Any mummy using Medela PISA? Is it possible to hide the pump under a nursing cover while pumping? Am using Freestyle now but hate to wash all the parts. PISA parts look less complicated..

reverie: i have the same issue with breast size and milk supply. what i do is feed twice as frequently on the smaller breast and when expressing do 5 more min on the smaller breast as well. will help increase the supply and i guess size should follow as breast gets fuller with milk.

Been away for some time... My boy is quite a big eater i guess. He's asking for abt 90ml of EBM abt 2 to 3 hrs interval. But, I observed that my BM supply seems to get lower instead. Only able to express abt 100 ml per 6 hrs... And he starts to reject FM and only want EBM since yesterday afternoon. I'm very stress n worried. I don't know what to do later if I don't have BM. Anyone can help or advise??? He's abt 7 days old now.... [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif]

Another thing is, how long will the stiches hurt? It's so painful im walking like a duck at my MIL Hse ... So ugly!!! And troublesome too...I need to climb off bed to attend to baby everytime... Totally no rest for me during my confinement now... [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif] even pee also scare pain... Restrain from peeing now to abt only twice or thrice a day! [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif]

btw, also wan to ask... Is there side effects for epidural? I am having severe itch from my tigh to feet... Scratch till bleed already... And my tailbone is aching pain... I can't sit straight! Plus the stiches pain [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif] whenever I need to sit to have my food, I need to hestitate... Cos after sitting down, when I need to stand, my tailbone hurts n ache badly...

Btw, does all EBM tastes the same? Cos I need to ask ard for it as an alternative ...

Tks!!!

En Xuan, saw your post on Jan 2011 thread on getting EBM supply.

May I ask why you're expressing your BM instead of letting baby latch on?

Below is an informative article on breastfeeding, hope it will help you:

http://breastfeeding.about.com/od/lactation/a/relactation.htm

I did have some itch on my thighs but I don't think it's side effect of epidural. Probably not used to the herbs for bathing during confinement.

Tailbone aching probably due to sitting too much, try to get more bed rest as much as possible. You may want to get your MIL or hubby to attend to baby so that you can rest more. Walk less and your stitches will heal faster [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Please don't refrain from peeing as it's not good for your kidneys. Moreover, you should drink more fluid like longan tea so as to help to increase your milk supply.

@ Joanne : yeah, Its alot! Jus now 8am, MIL feeds EBM 90ml and Bb poos. 9am, he cries and she feeds him another 90ml... I'm dry up for the next feeding at the moment... Hopin the milk can come in before 12pm or I really dunno wad to do... Cos he totally reject FM. He uses both hands to push away the bottle. Force feed him with FM, he spit out, doesn't wan to drink... I'm really at wits end. Know anywhere supply EBM ?

@ Elekos: I only manage to latch him on once in hospital. Thereafter, I bottle feed him after expressing as I feel no confident in latching. I dunno how to do it correctly. Whenever , I try... He cries as he seems not able to get any milk.. I feel stress n stop latching after.

For my aching, I didn't sit much... In fact, bcos siting hurts.. I stand while even when I'm eating... [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif] come to think of it... I really scare of giving birth .

Regarding the itch, I nt sure abt the herbs for e bath.... Maybe today I shall mention it to my MIL, see wads her suggestion...

Btw, my baby's jaundice quite high... Abt 200 plus slightly... Any other way to reduce it? Other than sun shine him??? Cos 260 need to admit hospital... Tomorro need to go polyclinic see doctor again...

Baby's skin peeling badly too... Face, feet, hands, body, back... I feel so heartpain when I see he's like so many problem... My Hubby says bcos when I pregnant I didn't take care of wad I eat... I feel so sad.... His eyes so yellow... I was so worried as one of my dog died cos of kidney failure and eyes yellow was it's symtom then....

Hi mummies,

if you are looking for malay massage, I'd like to recommend Nurin, HP: 96173994, to help with post-natal massage. She's friendly and does very good relaxing massages.

Hi En Xuan,

The peeling of skin is normal for newborn. It can take up to a month for that. My girl has jaundice also. I put her under fluorescent light when there is no sun. Don't worry, it will disappear in a month. The jaundice disappear slower in breastfed babies. My second born had breast milk jaundice and the yellowness went away in a month.

About the amount, I have really no clue. I do not bother to express since I find it easier to latch the baby on. But 90 ml sounds like a baby at 2-3 weeks will drink. Try breast massage, it is supposed to help w milk supply as well.

Yeah, sitting is hell now. I definitely have swelling from my episiotomy. Hoping I will recover in another week.

hi ladies, sorry to interrupt.

may i know how much is the market rate for malaysia confinement lady now?

En Xuan, standing is even worse... if you can lie on your tummy at least can rest your back.

You might want to try renting the phototherapy light from the baby specialist. My boy had mild jaundice, the weather was bad raining or cloudy everyday couldn't bring him downstairs to sun. PD suggested renting the light, shone on him for 3D2N. The rental is about 210+ much cheaper than going to hospital. However, you must monitor time to time that the mask is covering his eyes properly.
