(2010/07) July 2010 MTB

Any mummies brought baby to TMC parentcraft for baby massage before? Any good? Thinking of bringing mine for the one for one session altho 3mths plus liao dunno if too old.

Hi all long time no login. Busy with boy & playing a iPhone mmorpg game, the world of magic. Addictive!

Me planning to go HK too during dec but dunno to bk frm agency for those free & easy package or ownself bk airplane & hotel. Sigh!

Wah.. going to Hong Kong is very ex lei for 5th to 7th Nov. Felt like not worth to go.

Mummies, do you all have any other suggestion for me?

I think PH go holiday really abit more expensive. Ann, maybe u can go to a beach resort?

i am thinking of booking the siloso beach resort this Dec as a mini getaway to relax. will be bringing bb along so dun intend to take plane, me not confident yet. but the room is like $300+ per nite. dunno if i mite as well go Bintan/Batam instead. at least got "travel" feel. haha!

Sweetkiss: Going beach resort also nothing much to do for me.. i won't be bringing BB to the beach and play in sea water too.. so not worth for me to go to a beach resort. $300+ per nite.. is quite ex.. might as well go Bintan or Batam.. cheaper and u are right.. got the "travel" feel.. haha!!

i will also opt for beach resort... somewhere relaxing for fresh air....

hk will be like SG, eating & shopping. its not a bb friendly plc so be prepared for lots of carrying....

Irene: I'm using Mini Electric Plus (dual) and it takes 15 min. However, i find that I have to hand express after pumping as there's still some milk left.

Now hubby say maybe we should go Sydney.. I felt too ambitious lei.. scared BB cry all the way from Singapore to Sydney on the plane.

Ann, jus wondering has ur bb fallen sick before ? i feel scared bringing young babies travelling coz when they fall sick, it can quickly be quite bad easily. so i am quite paranoid abt the availability of medical care..... but its just me.

so do remember to bring meds ?

my bb had slight runny nose in the afternoon, by the next mroning, her nose seem totally blocked. i quickly went doc, who admitted her to TMC to do suction of phelgm, nebulise, etc. so i am quite scared to travel far , incase something like this happen again....

Pillow: So far.. my bb had not fallen sick before.. keeping my fingers crossed. Ya.. that is what I am afraid too. I think after so much discussion with hubby, we might just end up staying home or drive up to malaysia. Haha!!

AK , hows your bb reflux ? better now ?

mine has grown out of it now that she is 3 mths old. so even without burp, she doesnt puke anymore...

Ann: yah lor hk trip now damn exp. But I can only go that time. Haha..

Why not u waittill next yr?? Cuz now going holi season so exp.

Ceres: Ya lo.. super ex.. so now tellng hubby we should wait lo. Wait till non school holiday and non PH.. then he can take leave liao(cos he is still under probation in new company till end Nov), then we bring Kayden overseas.

At least your hubbies wanna bring bb overseas.. i mention to my hubby only straight away NOOO. =\

I think we will only bring him overseas when he can walk ..

Hi Kepsis

For tummy time, I will hold my baby face-down on my lap, either sitting on a chair or sitting on the floor. This is something which I picked up during my Baby Yoga Instructor course. I practised this position with my baby from around 1 month onwards, but I start very gently and slowly at first and around 1/2 hour after feeds. She will drool from this face-down position though. So get ready some tissues!

You can check out my post on my blog.

Jaclyn, ya ya location is fantastic. My hb is opposite. Can't wait to bring bb on hol. His parents are going to Bali end of this month. He's very keen for us to join them. I'd rather go Hong Kong.

Mummies, ask you all ah, is $1.3K per pax alot to pay for 3D2N HK trip? Flying by SQ & staying @ Royal Plaza executive club room?

Actually, it's a long time since i travel to HK. So not sure of the current pricing.

Ann, why not you try the budget airlines since sq so ex... For me I'm going there with my no 1 next week since my hubby is over there for work... We'll be staying at Kowloon hotel and it's very convenient... Basically it'll be an eating and shopping trip so leaving baby Tiffany in s'pore... I also can't wait to eat at sweet dynasty... Miss the food there as the last time I went to hk was 3 yrs ago when no1 was in my tummy..I'll update you on the weather but shouldn't be too cold yet... Just a word of caution, the air quality there is not very good leh... Maybe Kayden is too young for it

babycoco: Ya.. it is the peak season. Moreover the last time i travel to HK is 5 yrs ago.. so my mindset is if I have to pay more than $700 for 3D2N trip, it's not worth it. Hubby say my mindset not practical. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif]

sugar: My hubby cannot tahan budget airline and traveling with Kayden, budget airline is not suitable. My hubby is now in Japan for business trip, if I am not working and can bear to be seperated with my BB for a week, I would have gone to Japan with him. Hai.. but life is seldom what we expected. Ya.. i know air quality there is not too good... I am also worried that he might fall sick. But just wish to go for a holiday but also can bring him along kind. Guess I have to stay in Singapore le till I can tahan to be without Kayden for a few days. Haha!!

I am quite emo one.. last yr July I went for my honeymoon for 2 weeks.. i left my dogs with the dogsitter.. the moment the dog sitter drove away, I broke down and cry.. from lift lobby to home and then at airport cry again then in japan cry again.. I can't bear to be apart from my 2 dogs so how can I bear to be apart from my baby. Hubby is saying he think i will cry even more badly than last time if don't bring BB along. I think it's true too.

Ann, maybe you try sentosa lor... Tats wat I did last yr cos my no1 was still small then and my hubby didn't want the hassle of bringing a young tot overseas... Tats why my son will be taking a flight at the ripe ol age of 30 mths... Lol

Today my bb cranky again , last night when feed him he drink a bit only start crying n pushing the teat out with his tongue. This morning aft 6 hrs fr his last feed he still refuse to eat, also push the teat out with his tongue. My mum say he 'hong sim'. I only bk to work for 2 days only den today bb cranky Liao... Haiz wish I can take care of him full time..

Wah I also feel like going overseas!!! I've not gone on my honey moon yet lor... I think it's impossible for me to travel Liao cos my hubby super protective of his son one, only now then he agree to bring bb go garden walk walk n that is after much persuasion so I think if I tell him go overseas he will think I wanna endanger his son!

kepsis,

u not alone! i've not gone for my honeymoon too n now w 2 kids i think this gonna wait for at least another 5-10yrs...

suika

no help at home? i want to go to hokkaido w my hubby but we are shelving for now cos w two kids, i need to think how to settle them before i can go... maybe in 2-3years time ...

Kepsis, how old is your bb? For the past few days my bb hasn't been feeding like usual. But I read at about 4mths, they get very easily distracted. My bb will feed halfway and get distracted by everything, the ceiling, my pj etc. Usually latch on min 15mins. Now less than 10. Then won't feed for another 3hrs. Any mummies also going thru the same thing?

Now I feel quite upset. Before I start working, BB will sleep on his own without much fuss. Or even if he fuss, he will also allow us to pat him to sleep. Eversince I start work, bb wanna be carry to sleep. I hardly see him during daytime, so i give in to carrying. Then 2 weeks back, bb when wanna sleep, will start to fuss. He will cry.. carry also cannot cause he will kick and cry, put down also cannot cause he will turn untill he suffocate himself with the mattress and cry again. Basically just wanna cry lo. So have to carry and let him cry and then he sleep. But at least, after the first struggle, he sleeps lo till 6am like that with a DF at 10.30pm like that.

Yesterday, bb also out of norm again. Fuss and cry and then sleep. DF at 10.30pm never finish & still left 50ml. Then at 12.45am, start to make noise, give pacifier then sleep. 2.45am, make noise again, put back pacifier, sleep again. From then on, I got to wake up several times cos he cannot sleep well. At 5.30am, he finally open his eyes liao. So give him milk. Never finish and balance 50ml again.. vomit a little milk and got to change clothes.. then refuse to be pat to sleep.. got to carry to sleep and same thing, fuss again, kick and kick and then finally fell asleep.

I think he behave like that cause maid always carry him to sleep during daytime cause FIL can't bear to see him cry. Then when bb stay over, in law will remember my instructions but then MIL and FIL scare BB hungry so give him milk in the middle of the night. That's why BB gets all the mix up signals.

I know my in law wanna help me look after bb so that i can be rest better.. but then with all the mixed signals send to BB, i have to endure his crankiness when I am looking after him.

He will stay on Mon and Wed night at in law place. Tue, thurs, Fri nights and weekends, I take care of him. He would be back to normal on Friday night and quite ok during weekends.. when go back to in law place on Mon, I get the shit again on Tuesday night.

So tiring lo. Sorry for the long story but just wanna vent my frustration out.

Ann,

You're not alone. My baby was cranky last nite too. Usually when carry her to bed, she knows it's time for bed and will not ask to go out to the living room. But yesterday dunno why, she refused to sleep, kept wanting to get up from the cot, kept raising her head. My mom, me, hubby carried her, walking around in the room also no use, couldn't make her sleep. In the end went out to the living room, hubby rocked her a bit, then just fell asleep. Dunno wat was up with her

Ann

Maybe u or get ur hubby to tell your in laws how this is affecting ur baby and u? Maybe slog it out for a week to stabilize baby and can suggest they come over at nite (if u dun mind) to observe how you handle the baby when he is stabalised? So they can gain confidence in how to handle baby at night without having to feed or carry.

Claudia: I have told my in laws a few times le.. and moreover i started to work now and my event is nearing so getting more and more busy and cannot take a week leave. My in laws would not come over to stay one. I think grandparents are just worry lo. Hai... I just hope he is just going through a phase now and will get better. I have told my hubby before.. if ever i sense BB is being spoilt by your parents, dun blame me for putting him in infant care and not their care. Even my hubby felt bb's demand is getting worse and worse.

sorry ah, but babies change pattern all the time. it's hard to attribute to one factor i feel. few days they are htis pattern, anotehr few days, another. particularly, now >3mths old, they are more alert.

babies demand will get worse , up and down. its part & parcel of parenthood.

Pillow: That's why I hope it is just a phase and he will get better. Every night, he stir and make noise.. i will pray that he gets back to sleep.

Ann

Guess so lar... That is the set back of getting parents to look after.... But infant care also another set of worry wor...

Pillow

U said it rite. Dunno why my baby refuse to drink milk first thing in the morning.. Last time can down 140 all meals.. Now sometimes even afternoon feed also must coax n coax before finishing... Wonder If it is reverse growth spurt?!

As our babies are approaching 4 / 5 mths old in age soon, any mummies thinking of getting walker? Heard that walker is not good for their legs? Any advice?

vernie

walker's not gd on their spine/back. but then again, many of us grew up using it...

hvg said that, i share my experience with my #1... she din use walker, crawled at 8mths, walked before she turned 1 so and experts say if all possible, dun skip crawling stage so walker may not be necessary

Actually chinese also believe that bb should crawl longer and try not to start walking so soon. The longer the crawl, the better their brain and limbs will be develop.

jellypurin: that's what i heard about walkers too...nanny kept asking me to buy one and put at her place but i am not very keen...coz she says bb dun really want to lie in the rocker anymore...put in walker for him to explore...

how bout exersaucer? bb just sit inside, cannot move but is surrounded by toys to entertain him...any 2nd/3rd time mummy used exersaucer before?

I read an article that says if we really wanna use walker, we can use for at most 10mins per day nia. If exceed, then will pose a danger.

Vernie/jellypurin: my mom oso ask me get walker leh. Last time my younger siblings all used dat onli like in recent yrs then I heard tat walker not gd.

Any other substitutes to recomm mommies??

jellypurin,

got help but no $$ w 2 kids now....had already planned a 2wks trip to Japan already

the longer they crawl better? my #1 almost 2 now still crawls at times....lolx

i guessed using walker shd b ok ba, i believed most of us grew up in a walker too n we're all well brought up

i also used the exersaucer (leapfrog brand) to keep the little one entertained instead of walker. there are reports floating around that walkers actually impede their walking. but we all grow up on walkers rite ? and walking fine right. haha

the same thing for milk, we grew up on FM rite ? but now we believe in breastmilk. same logic ?

re: bb taken care by inlaws

i live with my inlaws and they take care of my kids full time. i have the same misgivings during #1 time about "spoiling" my baby with so much carrying and pampering. But soon wake up to my idea, that "spoiling" of the baby is nothing compared to the downsides of infant care where you have to worry abt whether they change diapers promptly, baths, feeding, flu bugs spreading from kid to kid. nothing pains a mummy more, seeing her kid falling sick again & again from those infectious flu.

i realised that my inlaws is the best caregiver that i can have for kids, with total peace of mind when i am at work. they give their 100% attention and love, yet we worry abt them spoiling our babies? there is no such thing as "over loving" a baby [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Anyone knows if Mdm idah travels to East side? Her "sis" Mariam stopped working till Jan 2011 and I need a ML to clear my blocked ducts (today if possible)...anyone got contact?
