Reheating frozen food cubes: Just pop it into the microwave to save time. Put on low to medium setting if you don't want to nuke it. There's no need to 'thaw' separately. Mix up well so that there are no hot spots.

As for storing & freezing baby food, baby food jars are great. They're the right portion size, don't contain harmful plastic and they're FREE.

Sweet pea puree
I tried a bit, YUCK!!! :p AHhaha fed Ian with it, his expression is so funny... all scrunched up but he still ate. I'm sure pea is good for him (Tho' I hate eating them myself :p) how can we make it more tasty for baby?

Also I bought those ready made puree in a jar, Ian can't finish a whole jar. Can I scoop out some and then refrigerate the rest? How long can these last in the fridge?

Fitti diaper order for Sengkanger

Katgrrl my mum was also telling me that the glass bottles i got from TMC to store milk (which i have never used- haven't even gone to their pharmacy to buythe caps) can be used to freeze baby homemade puree...but was wondering whether they can withstand the freezing and microwaving...

Itsy - Ready made baby food can be kept in the fridge for about 24 hours.

I wash and keep this jars to defrost and heat up my frozen homemade purees.

paige> really? keke. haven bought diapers in msia before. but i olways tot it's much cheaper in msia =p

ya lo. now my boy can eat de cereal so fast. n i buy those heinz purees in bulk liaos. one shot go buy 10bottles -_-

btw, if u wanna buy those glass caps, buy from me can? i got loads of them tat i bought from mt a when i wanna use glass bottles, but realised i bought more caps than de bottles tat i have -_-"

reheating frozen baby cubes> actually i can juz pop them into de food warmer. forgot abt it totally

Marie,
The last round I have same issue and gynae confirm I pregnant lor. You might want to self test if you have relationship after bb born.

Paige,
Thought mamy poko is having offer at RM43/pack.
I usually buy from M'sia cos it arnd 50RM which is S$20.75/packl when no offer.

I use the TMC glass bottle to freeze BM. So far ok. Don't used too much microwave to hit bb food. Microwave not advisable for bb.

Cereal
Anyone start porridge already? When can we start porridge?

glass jars can be used in the microwave. Just don't submerge hot jars in cold water. The sudden change in temp can crack them.

There's no science to suggest that microwave is harmful to babies (or even adults). All the microwaves do is to excite water molecules and in return, this friction generates heat thus heating up the food. If u're worried about exposure, just stand away from the m-oven.

Paige,
No, Ipoh is also like an oven. It's soooo hot and we didn't have air-con. Very hot. Here is hot too, but still managable.

Itsy,
No need to make the puree "more tasty" for baby. The idea of giving baby veg/fruit puree is so that they learn to accepting the original taste of the food, whatever taste it is.

Connie,
Sure you can start porridge. But porridge itself has very low nutritional value, unless you add in veg etc. Why rush into giving porridge?

today 2nd try with avocado puree. she seems ok with it, though i don't know if she actually likes it or not? but i think its not as flavourful or sour like apple, so no cute funny expressions. haha... she ate abt 3/4 of what i prepared followed by another 60ml milk. i've a question. she didn't wanna finish her puree though after that she cried abit, thats why i made the 60ml milk, so means she's still actually hungry? but if she's still hungry, why doesn't want to finish her puree? so does that mean, she doesn't really like it?

kiki,
It's a very new and challenging task for a young baby to take puree. It's tuff on their tummy and the digestive system, even just to swallow takes a lot of effort. So, when she doesn't want to take puree anymore, just stop it, and give milk if she asks for it. NEVER force baby to take puree if they refuse to. Cry could indicate a lot of possibilities, and we can only try offering different things till she is satisfied. The fact that she stopped crying after you gave her milk means good woh, cos that mean you can understand your baby's need pretty well already :)

kam
thanks. yeah, she fussed abit while feeding, i fed her a few spoons of water in between, i think its too sticky so she's very thristy, then she was quite happy to eat somemore puree, then eventually she start to purse her lips and turn away. i thought she was full so i stopped. but after 5 secs, she cried abit (not full blown cries) so i figured maybe she's still hungry? was surprised when she finished the 60ml milk.

after that bao bao already, she start to rub rub eyes then i pat pat her and she slept.

Silly question on Apple puree
Do we need to steam it b4 pureeing it? If I'm using a blender, do I still need to remove the skin?

Or should I simply scrape the raw apple using a metal spoon and feed bb?

itsy,
You can either steam it before pureeing or scrape raw apple with a medal spoon. See which one your baby likes. Yes, have to remove skin. Don't give skin to baby, same with other fruits/veg, esp carrot.

Hi kam,

how many times can we feed our bb puree daily?
i feed my bb cereal once daily and during the weekend is cereal for lunch then puree for dinner. Is it too much?

berrypie,
For my #1, that's what I do - he had cereal at cc for breakfast and before coming home (when he was about 7 months whereby cereal can replace 1 milk feed), and I fed him puree at night. As long as your baby is willing to eat and you don't force him to eat, there is really never be too much :) Start with small amount, and adjust day by day.

itsy
waiwai said her boy had diarrhea when fed with raw apple. maybe better to cook it?

mummies,
anyone knows 1 apple can make how many baby cube puree?

My babies don't like sophie too and I now have one unopened one. who wants to buy?

For those of you who blend bb food, do you find that blender doesn't work well because the portion is too small for the blade to reach? I tried using my philips blender and i constantly have to use a spoon to push the fruits near the blade. if not, the blade will just be rotating and blending anything at all. I tried to feed them avocado but they don't seem to like it. Initially I used a spoon to mash it but the spoon couldn't seem to mash the avocado into puree form so, I had to use the blender.

If u freeze fruit puree, do you just thaw and feed it cold? or do you warm it up first? but a bit weird eating warm fruits right? Similarly, if you feed those bottled puree, have to put the unfinished one in fridge. for the next feed, do you heat it up?

kiki:
i dropped hair when #1 was 7-month old - I was pregnant again and stopped dropping hair!

xmasc:
I'm still TBF, but menses returned in Jan. then menses come every alternative week till last week...

itsy:
my #1 gal had diahorrea after eating raw apple at 7-month...

bbq

Gog off then saw ur post..

I used the Braun handheld blender tdy. Works miracles! I only puree-d 1 small apple n it did the job in seconds. No prob reaching any bits of the fruit at all, n the puree came out smooth.

ok off to bath.. had a very tiring day
