When do HDB charge us this maintenance fees? usually around how much a month? I must do my counts liao ah.... i am just so happy that very soon i can get hold of my keys and do my reno! How long i also not sure but i know it's soon. Heeeee....

YEAH man! It's really good news when i went in to HDB website to check it out. Though it's stated that the PROBABLE COMPLETION DATE is 1st quarter of 2010, i can say that they would be able to complete the entire construction before early 2010? But how long after it's totally complete to get our keys, i have no idea leh.... how nice if i can get hold of my keys in NOVEMBER! Then i have time to do reno and shift in before i start to work! SO nice...... hahaa.. pocket super big hole nia! But i think i have to get a loan to do reno liao le...... but nvm, as long as can get out of this bird place, i don't mind working extra hard to repay my loan!

From the day we get the flat in 2006... my FIL has been nagging us about our lovenest too.. cannot this cannot that... keep on say and say.. as if i don't know.... he know me so longgggg still don't know my style meh.. can't be mah! More or less sure know lor... i do things he should 放心 mah! SIgh. But this time round, i will try my best to psycho my hb... hmph! Baby shower he last week ask also... luckily my hb know that i very dulan with the previous week when he ask me so much about confinement etc... so he reply him HAVEN'T DECIDE and we walk off! Wahahahaha...... he angry but also bobian... don't care him lah! He keep on emphasizing "Your confinement doing at our house right!" Keep say... i got my own plans loh.. who cares... and he has no rights to interfere in what i wanna do either! Baby coming out soon then all start to pull me here and there.. think i toy ah....... stupid! Everything also must listen to him meh.. FAT HOPE! =P

PLUS, every night cannot sleep well. Early in the morning 5+ 6 being disturbed by FIL's loud movements coming in to my room... try to sleep back also cannot... then later on MIL's turn.... pissed sia!

Actually my mum told me can drink barley... i believe my mum lah since she's very experienced... and she did tell me don't take dang gui so i never take any at all plus i don't like dang gui! hohoho... now our body considered very 'heaty' liao so try not to take too much heaty stuff... not very good wor...

Me also getting more excited seeing suddenly more mummies popping although my edd is 28/9. But i still got some outstanding issues to settle especially mw work..sudden change of mamagement and moving of office already making me having many sleepless nites liao. Hope everything can be settle soon.

Sorry to say, your FIL very kaypo leh! I tot usually it's MIL? Doesn't he get it that his son is all grown up, married and has his own family now?! It's time he just keep quiet, "retire" and enjoy his grandchild.

If yours is a build-to-order flat then all u need to do up is the kitchen... and maybe build-in wardrobes. If u dun hack here, hack there and do too much build-in cabinet then u should be able to move in quickly. But hor, u'll need to do LOTS of shopping lor, for furniture, appliances and lots lots more. Pocket BIG hole! Haha cos my pocket still haven't recover from my reno.

Haha no need to say sorry. Cos i also buay tahan living with them liao le. I feel so sad for myself. LOLS. My MIL is from behind mah.. my FIL do the sayings mah.... he always think he is right and what he does is for our own good.. if he really do it for our own good, he should do something else to help instead of open the mouth and niam niam niam unnecessarily! Too demanding and selfish!

Mine is BTO, i opt out of the flooring & doors that time cos i wanted Homogenous tiles instead of Ceramic tiles. I will have to do the flooring, doors, kitchen cabinets, MBR build-in wardrobe, living room (display cupboard, tv console, false ceilings) and window grilles. I wonder how much will these add up to. I won't be hacking anything cos already very small and only 3 rooms so not going to hack anything. You think within one month can shift in mah? LOL! I will have to loan loh then take few years to repay back the loan.... no choice ah... but at least i will live happily there without having to face all these nonsense!

princessxiaomei> keke. dunno how come got warts oso. but doc say sometimes it juz lives in ur body. juz tat when ur immune sys is weaker, esp during pregnancy, it tends to grow out n be visible. there is no sure test to test if a person have warts if it doesn't show too. so cannot c de warts doesnt mean we dun haf warts too.

anyway decided on csect cos my edd is 23sep. gynae is goin on holiday on 18till21sep. so in case if i deliver earlier, gynae not in sgp, another gynae will have to do de delivery wor. but i m comfortable with current gynae. so i think i'll juz go ahead with csect =p

lose weight = wanna deliveER? no wonder my gynae so kancheong ask me y i lost weight. i say i dunno. cos i really dunno =p i told her measuring machine spoil. hahhahaa =x

wow. with the amt u wanna do to ur hm, can tell u it's not cheap wor.

the fees hor.. depends on ur town council and ur flat type. it monthly one lo.. charge us but nv maintain the estate one.. money suckers...

doing renov - time abt 1 to 1.5 mths, provided the able to finish the works and handover to u on time.
can start planning the reno works if u r not engaging an ID. can think of the ideas, colours, probable and impt furns to get first (eg. bed, wardrobe, tv table, sofa etc). take note of the furn sales time or smthing lo

go around the ID/ contractor reno shop to "collect" the reno brochures and compare the similar works for ur type of flat and u can roughly gauge the cost. unless u wan to do customise furn, then it will cost more - a lot more

wow u gonna do alot of things hor..if u want to budget then better don't engaged ID leh.. just contractor lor.. cos ID sure end up very ex.. i do very little things but my reno cost adds up to a huge amt..

Can start to do some sourcing and research on some ideas like what Jess has mentioned lor - what kind of theme for your house, colours, designs, electrical appliances, tv, washer, etc. so when the time comes to collect your keys, dont have to waste time to look for such things. Have FUN!!

i'm still adding on to my big hole lor.. cos still have some of the kitchen cooking wares to buy. But since i wont be cooking for now, that can wait lah.

Cos my BTO is standard.. not premium.. and it's like bare condition.. cannot even shift in to just lay the furnitures.. no tiles one lor... lols.. i am only doing very simple one le... some of my friends intend to do wardrobes for all 3 rooms, hack this hack that, build this build that.. mine considered very little le.. LOL! But yours is condo still need to do lots? My friend also did spend quite a sum of money with the same house as yours. Can't wait to see how her house looks like too!

Maybe next time you all can intro me what kind what brand of washing washing, refrigerator, aircon is good?????

I think i wont be engaging IDs... but i know my FIL die die want us to get the fengshui master to see where to put this and that in the house.... this fengshui master also will help us calculate my baby's name... and he was the one who help us choose the wedding date. Since it's like for the sake and benefit for us, i will agree to let the Fengshui master to see for us.. i wont be buying new bedroom set for our MBR cos i will be shifting my current bed to my MBR, the current wardrobe etc too...

Been reading the thread but tired and lazy to post.. seems like morning sickness coming back abit.. few more wks to go.. REN!

Went for my gynae appointment yesterday, boy weights 2.7kg at 36 wks… seems small for a boy.. gynae advise me to go for c-sec again and asked me to confirm on then next visit. He also recommend GA to epi as he says lesser side effect.. haiz.. I’m still thinking…

Ling > now I’m also not controlling liao.. been drinking lots of cold water ice cream etc etc cos I think of the fact I cant drink for the one mth confinement.. so I whack nw lo haha..

Lots of stuff I hvnt do yet.. haha.. only managed to wash bb’s clothes.. cot not even set up yet.. hvnt buy new mattress also.. hvnt even buy diapers too and of cos hospital bag not packed at all. My boy better don’t give me a surprise and come out this two wks..

shelled.. wat time you going for the bb fair? I'll pro drop by during lunch hrs tmr.. if there's any gd buy then grab hubby along on sat to buy...

no prob.. we all can share the info and ideas.. cos i DIY my hse and just find contractor to do it.. sm contractors thot im from ID shops trying to get 2nd opionion quotations that most of them ignore me.. -_-"

u can try to go IMM where there is a lot of ID/ contractor shops there, they will display the brochures/ leaflets of the reno package, or u can smtimes find in ur letterbox. do a bit of homewk to see the works carried out and pricing.
strike out those works that u feel it not required to do. but those featured in the leaflets are all priced very cheaply and at cheap rate (eg. tiles). so if u intend to use a higher/ better item, be prepared to pay more.
Can get contractors with gd recommendationd from your frens =)

gd that u using back ur bed n wardrobe lo.. then can take measuremts and roughly "position" them in ur new flat layout plan

Fengshui ar.. be prepared to pay lo.. for the viewing, buying their "ornaments" not cheap lo..
u can read up a few basic fengshui that usually pple follow in SG, from the webs if u intend to start playing with design of ur hse

u got the plan from HDB liao rite.. roughly place sm furns to see the layout or smthing lo =D

i have been dd my hair - coloring, rebonding and hair treatment since i was expecting #1. my stylist sae it is ok becos he never touch my scalp with the chemical.

Dont think too much - as what you sae is a bonus that you can select date on 090909. better then you opt for natutal then have to E- C section right. Be Happy K

Yeah i'm having tis problem also - cant sleep but very tired. Wanna turn my body also diff. Haiz.... on 1 hand wish baby come out soon, on another hand, wish that she can wait till 090909 so at least i still hv some more free time. wondering how will life be - 3 children. esp #2 just started to walk, now her hobby is gg to all cupboards to pull out whatever she can reach. *faint*

Got like that one meh. Doesn't seemed logical to me! LoL! Hopefully the areas in the house won't be in odd shapes.. else very hard to put things... i have the floor plans but i think there are some slight changes to it.. so might not be very accurate!

I have been eating cakes and ice creams ah... within a week, i can eat these almost every day! Weather too hot liao le... buay tahan! LOLS! Cannot control my cravings suddenly! Woahahaa...

haha.. my hse going to be 2 yrs old liao..
i have the photos after reno, but smtimes lazy to take so it is incomplete of whole hse. we do "upgrading/ moving bits of things here n there" in phases over the past 2 yrs.. like currently bb's rm is a new phase (soon to take it)

IMM have a mixture - more exp comes with the ID, then some corners are just simple ID with the contractors. can go take a look. since got furn shop and those toilet/ kitchen fixtures/ wares shops too. i cannot remember if there is a lot of reno shops la.. hee sorrie.

yea, do the measurements again after u get the keys, roughly just "posittion" ur current furns in lo. And do chk for defects by HDB

mine ex cos we got an ID and hubby had wanted quite a lot of things to be done and we did some hacking here and there to wire up the whole place also... kinda technical lah... i also dont know how to say.. but the big and small items also add up to the reno costs lor.

I agree with the other mummies, I engaged a contractor instead of ID too. Save a lot, furthermore, I feel that my 4 room flat is so small and the layout is also more or less fixed so no use getting ID. I just look at magazines and decide on a theme or colour and get contractor to do. The contractor I engaged also provided me with drawings and designs, I just modify them to what I want lor. My reno was done in abt a month, it was the buying of furniture part that took up more time. Cos I low budget and fussy, must source long time for the pi and qi furniture

Expenditure to buy things REALLY adds up ok. Be prepared and budget carefully! Buy only those u need first. Dun be like me.. see things I like, I buy, thinking it's nice to have.. then eventually no money to buy the essentials. Hahha else u ask ur friends and relative to get for you.

actually i am trying to get my hb to get my relative to do for us cos he also did many things in my mum's place and i am quite satisfied with his workmanship & service. But he seemed very reluntant loh. Sigh. NEvermind, i try again. Hahahahaha.. Expenditure really will add up i believe! I will only get those i need first. 600x600 homogenous tiles is it the big tiles? I want big tiles but no need that big.. cos my il's house tiles is those old ceramic small small squares lor.. i want bigger tiles. 3K+ for 4room? Hmmm... mine is 90sqm... only need to do these tiles for living room, 3 bedrooms. Kitchen i leave it as what HDB gives. toilet tiles also leave it. Maybe next time when i have more money then overlay the toilet tiles loh. My friend was telling me about 5K for my floor tiles! Making me a little scared... cos seemed so expensive! LOLS!

One of my friends actually did her reno to her premium flat at 12K.. so i was thinking maybe mine will be around 15K? But she did certain things i won't be doing lor.. plus minus here and there also don't know how much liao le.. every single thing counts ah..... -.-"

Everything seems to work well for me. This time round, breastfeeding is more on the right track. Still TBF my gal, think my milk supply comes in already. But I gonna work harder, latch and pump, to establish more milk supply. BF is not easy, but if you are determined to do it, you can!!! I failed for my #1, but have succeeded this time. Everyone can too! Again, be relax and stay positive, jia you!!!

yea.. defects - after getting keys from hdb, check ur hse carefully, fill in form and send to ur town council within 7 days. (if i rember correctly)

ya.. take ur time.. meanwhile maybe get sm decor ID magazines to read bah.. heee ("pyscho" u to start dreaming ur dream luv nest)

ur hb can "talk" ur FIL into paying for it bah? leave it to him.. hehehe

I have been dreaming a lot ever since i am born. Hahahaha. And indeed i dream a lot of my lovenest cos i'm crazy over it... can't wait to get out of this placE! Wahahahaahahaa..... I'm not sure if my hb will be able to do it successfully... cos i merely ask my dad if he would be able to sponser me with a capella stroller which cost 300+, he say NO PROBLEM and even ask me to get even better ones..... then i told him capella is good enough for me. And indeed my dad sponser me! FIL knew about it, i hinted him twice, it's bought by us but paid by my dad. Then hb told him once to sponser car seat, which is also around 300+... then he 'tek gong' and until now never want to sponser. So it's like UNSUCCESSFUL. wahahahaa... i am not going to do the psycho-ing cos i hate to talk to them.. cos every time talk to them, it's like they demand from me. Got once talk until i collapse loh........... LOLS.. damn funny right! kena kek during pregnancy mah...

Can can.. you remember can liao.. dont forget... but no hurry.. cos my memory also quite bad... after ur confinement bah!

mittens : i only have 3 pairs of WHITE plain ones and 1 pair is blue strip one. That's it. Wahahahaahaa...

what are some of the ideas that you have for your house so far? even though mine's arriving later that yours, i'm planning stuff like: orange kitchen with black tiles, either one shocking pink sofa or shocking orange wall in living room, elevated platform to separate a small living area for adults from a generous reading/play area for the kids, computers allowed but no tv in the house, dark grey study area with white shelves, dark grey bedrooms with white furniture. have an ID in mind (he helped my parents design one of our previous homes) but i haven't decided whether to engage him or just plan everything myself and let a contractor handle the job. i estimate that his ID work costs 35K, plus reno costs, electronics, furniture, will work out to about 60k?? i have a close uncle who's a contractor with pretty good workmanship, but i'm hesitant to engage him cos very hard to pay relatives to work for you. don't want our relationship to sour if later i'm not satisfied with his work, he miss deadlines etc

your dad was very sweet to sponsor your stroller. i read abt your predicament, i think back to that time in 2005 when i got married and was just months into my first job + husband still studying. i was super poor then, and my parents had to sponsor 5k into our flat's down payment. parents in law never sponsored anything cos they're not very well to do themselves. thereafter, first 1-2 years after getting married really had to live very frugally. i'm glad to say now that with both me and husband working we're living at least comfortably. sometimes when i go shopping at the supermarket, and i see that prices are so inflated, i feel bad for people who are not so fortunate. must count my blessings =)
