ss dropped
after 1 wk of not pumping, my SS has dropped!! From 160-180ml for both sides, now i can only yield 100ml!! Started pumping ytd again cos i need to stock up EBM so that i can go for my gynae appt and facial appt on thurs!! but so sad my ss has dropped.. must b insufficient rest after i moved home cos i was taking care of bb myself, doing housework and not eating well... i need fenugreek to boost ss!! wat else can i do to boost ss if rest is not possible?
 
rach - haha i also nv see the bp on bravado bras. cos was waiting for delivery in aug and delivered in end sept so din pop in the forum! i wanna get also! but wads the diff between the original and the silk bras? also the nursing tanks from glamourmum and bravado?
 
Hi Pam, for the medela pump causing sore nipple, could it be the funnel being too small?

I have bought a bigger funnel which suck a bigger portion of the nipple, so that the tip of the nipple is not sore. TMC is selling the biggger funnel ( 1 size bigger ) and it is cheaper than getting from mums & babes.

Try if it helps.

my left oso only hv a few squirting holes compared to my right. why quite a number of us got v lazy left boobs huh?

i think for my case, its fenugreeks plus latching plus pumping. i took 3 pills 3 times a day n for that day alone i just kept giving baby my left if not enuf then i switch to right n pump after feed. within 24 hrs my left incr by 10-20ml. second day also same and incr by another 10-20ml. but third day onwards i only pumped in the day and latched at nite due to my busy schedule. and i pumped 30 mins instead of the usual 15 mins. i think by the 4th or 5th day my left supply came back. but my left will always be abt 20-30ml lesser than right and that was how its always been for me from the start so i never bother to make both boobs equal cos generally one boob will always produce slightly lesser than the other anyway.

i think i quite blessed the fenugreeks work fast for me. like mwerkz, i latched all the way for first 5 weeks and hardly pumped. and when i started pumping i only get 100-110ml 3 hourly. after taking half a bottle of fenugreeks, my yield went up to 130ml and today i nearly finished my first bottle and i can get 150-180ml 3 hourly. i think im quite satisfied now so i hv since reduced to 2 pills 3 times a day and hope to "wean" off from fenugreeks soon.

i read form ur blog u have sent ur gal to nanny already? so i assume u can only latch her at nite too?
 
oh dear, im out of milk storage , i only depends on my free glass bottle from tmc.....

guess now i have to stopped pumpin lioa

I have a extremely lazy left boob.. Am contemplating to resort to Fenugreek. But am still trying not to take it first. I really dun wan to smell like maple syrup although i love it on my pancakes..

I'm also using the Medela Freestyle, so much more relaxing than when I was previously using the Avent Manual. But then hor my left nipple sometimes will suddenly have sharp pain and become rock hard leh...don't know why like that

Thanks. Mine is the lazy right boob :) I don't want to take supplement for now. Let me see how it goes for this week since I am pumping more now. Yes you are right, my girl has started to go full day care under her nanny, so I can only latch at night. Luckily my girl can still suck well from my nipples.

ya milk bag will be wasteful lor.. for us low yeild... i stillduno how to combine ebm.. very worry about the Temp.

soo good u bb will take pacifier, my refuse and keep crying now no voice.... soooo sad....then give breast he suckle abit and cry.. i think he bloated but still cant find any other way of pacifier himself, then he suckle my breast and vomit out BM and cry , then no other source of pacifying again, he look for my breast again , and once suckle he cry.. think he really really very bloated with milk..





how long will bb recover from out of voice ah?
 
Michelle - i figured it may be fenugreek cos after one mummy commented, i realised tt baby really did fuss more for the few days i took. so tt day i immediately stopped taking. good thing about fenugreek is after i stopped, supply was still ok. until ytd when it was really low, i took one and it my supply did go back haha! may be psychological also... but baby has lesser of tantrums... cos he will fuss and cry and scream for no reason and i am also not sure if its colic. tried to massage his stomach and he would be "more angry" and cry harder... these few days much better le, so i will only take when i need it lor. hehe my 2 cents worth...

michelle - wah u took so many! i took 20+ and i thought quite a lot liao haha!! but i only used about 8. been alternating them. can they be used to stored ebm and store in the freezer??

Ya, my baby seems to be happy with the not-so-productive-boob, but she would for next feed earlier if I latch her with this boob as compared to the good boob. But now I cannot latch already lor :-(

For storage milk, why not consider Avent VIA cup (or something similar with other brand)? Can store any amount, can combine 2 pumpings, and can recycle the cup. I find it quite good leh.

One night my girl also using my nipples for sucking comfort. She doesn't want milk, cos just fed her, but she has the urge to suck so she suck very hard, then milk sure comes out, and she got angry, pull my nipple so hard that I dare not let her suck anymore. So gave her pacifier. She accepted it this time (she refused when we offered her when she was younger), my nipples are saved!!!

Try offering again when your baby turns older. The experienced nanny said usually babies have strong urge to suckle between 2 to 5 months. My girl will be 2 months tomorrow, so quite true.

Last time my boy also started pacifier when he was 1.5 months. Then self-weaned at 4th month. What I did was pull the pacifier out of his mouth after he fell asleep, so he has less attachment to the pacifier. Think this helped him to wean off easier.

u wan combine ebm, put both diff pumping session one in fridge. wait till temp stabilise den put them tgt. i tried this way. so far no prob.

oo. my bb at first oso spit out pacifier. juz keep giving to him. sometimes he fall asleep, he spit it out, den no need give le. so he dun really use pacifier long oso

for more milk bottle. juz knock on de door of nursery, say u need some glass bottles. dey will usually give one.

Yup.. Been looking at it at the departmental store. I think there is two types. One is metal frame and another is plastic. But bascially, both should function identically..

My gal wants to be carried all the times she is awake.. Sometimes I put her on the netter rocker and manually rock her.. She will quiet down.. so I am thinking if the vibration of the FP rocker will calm her too.. so I no need to be there all the time to rock her.. :p

Didnt want to get the swing one cos I am afraid my older girl want to "try" it too. haha.. My older gal can still sit on the FP rocker if she wants. :p

i only have 12 glass bottles from TMC... at tmc we cant go in any o how at the admit room one.. they have limitation.. wonder how can i get into nursery room at tmc? ned to get any pass or room number to get in?

yours mt A dun need room number to get into nursery room ah? cuz tmc nursery room in at admit rooms lor..

fyi, the VIA cups can only be sterilised for max 4-5 times. after that u can recycle for other used but cant sterilise anymore. i think its becos of the material its made from that cant stand repeated sterilisation under high heat. im very paranoid abt plastics now esp to contain milk that goes into the babies body.

I also find the suction not powerful enough, but Pamelia get sore nipples from pumping mah, so I guess she needs to get a pump that's gentle? You buy over her Medela lah! Then can try try.

Not too sure about Bravado underwired bras. I don't intend to run risk of getting blocked ducts, so all underwired nursing bras are a no-go for me. I got the Bravado Original Nursing Bra (ONB) and Body Silk Seamless Bra (BSS). Both have no wires. but still provides ample support.

There are nursing tube bras from SPRING Maternity (quality not so good), La Leche League and even from a few of the nursing bra BPs in the BP section. Go have a look? I think there are a few thin-strapped ones as well, but cos all photos, cannot be certain it's thin or thick strap.

Empty out the "lazy boob" more often lor. If latching on full-time, then have to squeeze in pumping sessions specially to empty it. Actually in my case, the lazy side also has multiple streams of milk while pumping, just that it doesn't fill up as quickly as the other side, it has less qty every 3hrs.

flower4, I think swing is the swinging motion, different from the vibration. So far, all I see in departmental store are all in the box.

don't think there's anything much you can feed your baby with except milk leh. no young to drink anything else. even water cannot feed too much also

as for your diapers, could it be you never adjust the sides properly after wearing? you need to pull the elastic band out

any one know how much will it cost to operate on knee cap like old age problem, think my mum need operate on her knee cap.

if go by poly clinic wil it be cheaper , how much cash does it need &amp; how much cpf can deduct?
 
flower4> basically, 1st pump, u put de milk in de fridge, 2nd pump put milk in fridge for maybe 30mins. temp sure more or less stabilise to same. den combine them n freeze them. note tat do not leave emb in fridge for more den 6hrs if u intend to freeze. not sure where i read this though. this is wat i do. if i forget n leave in fridge for more than 6hrs, i will juz consume them within 4days

den u juz go mt a get n pretend u deliver there lo. hahaha. anyway i go get so many times. nobody ask me who m i. dey will juz ask how many bottles u wan. some nurse very nice. will even help u call other nursery to prepare de bottles for u. usually i one time go to de 3 nursery to collect. only went once got like 30+ bottles. den when i discharged, dey ask me if i bf, i say yes, den dey give me 10 more bottles

even pampers n mamypoko leaks? den either diapers too big or too small liao. cannot really follow de weight recommendation one. my colleague was telling me his nephew is so small. all de diapers he wear leaks. so maybe urs same prob

flower4, I figured out leakage could be either due to overflowing or diaper too big or not worn tightly enough. Experienced mummies, any other reasons? I also realised that pampers and huggies not that absorbant. I am trying drypers now.

As for the rocker, maybe you should buy those really cheap ones, those netted basic ones and see if you bb likes it. If so, then invest in the FP one. I don't think there is any auto function for rocking so cheap or ex, you still have to manually rock them.

I was the one who said Fernugreek causes wind but not everyone will have this side effect. Was told by my LC.

Using via cups or milk bottles for storage of bm

Like mama to 6j, I am quite skeptical about heating plastic and even glass cups. So what I do is to transfer the milk to the milk bottle first before heating the milk. By right glass should be able to withstand temperature well but I remembered someone mentioning that these glass bottles may crack and furthermore, from an extreme cold temp, you put the bottle in hot water, I am not sure if the glass can adjust to the temp so fast.
