Pris, ur celebration sounds wonderful...
Mashy, yup Pris is right, i'm in the US. PD just ordered "infant allergy" blood test, then we had to bring her to some lab for them to draw blood. it was quite tough watching them poke her to look for a vein. the lab tech said my baby has chunky arms. in the end, they took from a vein in her hand. 1 test tube of blood.
sorry my experience won't be too helpful for u cos i'm not in Singapore. we didn't have to pay for the test cos it's covered by hubby's insurance.
the PD ordered the test becos the rashes were kinda all over my baby's body n her face so he felt that it's not that she touched something she's allergic to. if ur kids show this type of symptoms, a blood test might help.
the test checks for the main allergens - cow's milk, soy, egg whites, dust mites, dog/cat hair, peanut, walnut... i'm waiting for the complete test results to be mailed to me. will post again when i get it. what i've listed here is what i manage to write down when the doc was talking to me.
the blood test also checks her immunoglobin level. doc said my baby's is quite low so it's not like she's the type of kid to react to everything.
i checked the price of those special infant formulas n they're really expensive. so i think i will continue breastfeeding but will change my diet.
while it sucks that i'll have to give up a lot of foods, i'm glad we found some answers n hopefully, my baby won't hv to suffer anymore.
