hello mummies,
i felt so left out.. haha.. hb and i decided not going to do a bday party for amelia.. cos her little bro maybe out anytime then.. his due date is 27june.. most prob csec on 16-19jun.. better for me to rest at home.. i am a perfectionist.. if i had to do bday party, my son may end up premature.. oops..

btw, if u all are keen to do party at hotel, can consider hyatt hotel straits kitchen.. they have a private dining area.. big enough for abt 100pax.. was planning to use that for amelia's full mth but the place is so popular with bday parties that it is always fully booked.. price u pay is the buffet price at straits.. and if i remember correctly, hyatt card got further disc

he adores it!! aiyah basically he like food not to mention it's sweet one, finish very fast ! have u start egg yolk? i started him egg yolk last wkend to test allergy 1st.. in case u ask, i mk hard boiled egg. gave him 1/3 to eat on the 1st day. gave him some to eat on it's own, the rest put in porridge cos very dry.

Actually, it seems to be the opposite for my hb. Maybe becos he is away most of the time, he really wants to do the bday things for D. Hence, I am pressured by him to start early even though it's gg to be a family thing.

fatmom, don't feel left out... while we're celebrating our kids' first year... you're celebrated Amelia's first year AND a new life all over again! How advanced is that?! Anyway, I'm not doing a bash either. Just 2 or 3 small sessions of dinner with the people that matter in Kyle's life.

So here's to us no-party mums!

Bub's Diet:
After a few days of food boycotting, I've just moved Kyle on to rice yesterday, using that with his meat jars and fresh veges instead of cereal. Goodness, the hungry monster gobbled down 1.5 baby bowls-ful tonight and still wanted more. I stopped and after a while, offered him some fruit instead. Won't his stomach explode?!?!

... On that note, I don't really get why some parents of toddlers (like 2-3y/o) still bring a flask of congee out for the kid.
Does anyone know if there's some plausible explanation or benefit to this??

bbmarilyn/ahnet, does AZ sell candles? I need the no. 1 candle... Prefer solid colour, but those that I came across are all multi-coloured or polka dotted.

ahnet, tofu can add to anything... Creamer is right, I mix with avocado sometimes. Tonight, I mixed it with yogurt and apple/raspberry puree.

sweethalo/Samsam, my hb doesn't really care what I do for the birthday as well, so I'm just gonna take the opportunity to do as I please haha! I let him choose the flavour of 1 tier of cake though. Hehe.

createjoy, haha S can drink from Magmag straw, but since mummies here talked about Yakult straw, out of curiousity today, as I was drinking my grape Vitagen, I let S try. She sucked out some of the grape liquid, face had a funny expression for a short while as she adjusted to the taste, then started shouting for the bottle as I put it away wahahaha! Quickly distracted her with something else. She must have loved it cos it tastes so sweet!

cassey, S was eating my jap rice today hehehe... just a couple of mouthfuls, she had already had lunch then. Oh and bigger kids eating congee, remember I was talking about a kid at Botanic Gardens eating congee, which mum brought out in a flask, as the parents ate pizza and pasta? Yes the congee was very thick, not the runny nonsense, but STILL. It's the standard tri-colour thing people cook for babies, green/orange/yellow bits mixed into porridge. Oh, and speaking of weird diets, I have a friend who fed her kid rice+fish+veg every meal, everyday. While it sounds nutritious, I can't imagine it being nutritionally balanced over a long term... Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I am also planning Aug's party mostly by myself but I think Daddy is also excited abt it since his little one is turning 1. Its just that he has no time and men are just not into party planning i think. I consulted him abt the venue and cake flavour though. Prob going to order from Pine Garden the lychee martini cake since everyone is raving about that. Looks like Aug is just going to look at his cute cake and not have the chance to eat it=P Anyway i figured cakes will be too sweet for him hee.

Im going to try to source for party supplies soon. Been procrastinating. I checked out SKP. They sell the balloons rather cheaply but i am still thinking helium or not. We will see how it goes. Going to attend a friend's son 1st birthday party with sesame street theme this sat and I will see if i can get any ideas.

I share creamer/createjoy's gripe abt hubby being able to sleep in on weekends and mummy having to wake up so early 7 days a week to take care of baby. I feel so sleep deprived. Aug is still doing his nite feeds. Im determined to try to stop his night wakings when he reaches 1 year old. Gotta think of some way.

Bluedream, ya, so now when im feeding Sermaine cheese, I will tear into small pcs and press in onto the puff and she ate it. I think she love food that is crispy? I notice when I offer the ‘ya kun’ toast bread she just simply love it!!

Sermaine porridge all along very colourful. Usually is fish + pork OR fish + tofu with at least 2-43veg. Given her cherry tomato, purple cabbage, cabbage, broccoli, carrot, pumpkin, all sort of spinach, shitake mushroom and even whole egg.

createjoy, that's what happened to Kate - she Miraculously sucks from the Mag Mag straw the 2nd time i gave it to her. she sucked so hard that she kinda choked when too much water came up the straw.
The first time I gave it to her, she bit on the straw and didn't know what to do with it. The 2nd time i gave it to her again was a week later.

he always cry after milk or evening after biscuit.he see us eat he cry wanna eat also alamak..so normally i give him teething biscuit while i eat dinner. add water give him back the btl he suck happily till nothing he cry again. i scare it's not becos he hungry but he greedy just like to drk without knowing full yet..
OIC Jarius not more than 90ml that means he every 1.5-2hr drk once?

wanted to try to intro cheese but not sure which to try.

has quite a hard time feeding him cereal/milk this week. he doesn't seem to like them now. his milk intake has dropped. duno isit due to teething?

but not much of a problem when feeding porridge.

bbAug, yea now baby is more active liao. Genieve abt weeks back didnt want to sleep abt 8plus which is her usual sleeping time. When put her to bed she wana play and roll till about 9plus when she is really tired. Before dat normally she can pat to sleep pretty fast after water/milk. But this last for awhile and now seems to be back to normal again cos i realise part of the reason sometimes she dun go back sleep after wake up is due to the warm weather until i on the aircon. I find babies is jus unpredicatble and changes their pattern as and when one. Mayb u can try to get him to sleep slightly later so at least Aug wont wake in the middle of the nite and disrupt yr beauty sleep?

Ecmom, oh u have bad experience with PG cakes ah.. I have tried my sil lychee martini cakes for her son's 1st year, it was good as good as the slice cake. Mayb its the icing type and your customise drawing..

Shelisa, u not ordering strawberry shortcake for strawberry sermaine meh.. hehe..

Jus to check yr baby nap how many times during the day time? My girl sleep 2 to 3 times and sleep about 30mins to 1hr. Is it enough huh?

I brought at Cold Storage at Taka, the brand is perfect italiano, it is a bar size i taste it myself, not so salty. Tubbymummy cut into chuke for Skyla to hold it herself but i haven try that before

Creamer, i did that before, filter the raw egg yolk and cook into the pooridge. I have feed Sermaine egg white too

I wish to move on to rice.. but due to ashton constant constipation, I think it is best that he eat food that is smoother for his stomach.

ya i scare he allergy so i only give egg yolk n my tot is hardboiled sure clear cut no egg white compare to filter it. anyway also cooked wn throw inside porridge. u can do it your way. haha i'm qt a "play safe" mummy so i usually give whatever doc or book recommend after another mth. actually alot food is whether we comfortable to give them. so many gave bb their own food, egg, cheese &amp; whatever fried food before the recommended age.

Rationale for most parents still bringing out food jar for 2-3 yr old kids - some parents wanted to stick by the no salt, no sugar diet for as long as possible. Had an ex-colleague whose daughter was on such a diet till 4yrs old. Thereafter, she still watches her diet closely, with almost zero non-healthy snacks (like sweets). Another fren of mine had no choice becos her boy only had his first tooth at 13 months and couldn't find suitable food at times outside. Now that he has more teeth, she sometimes doesn't bring porridge out, if she knows that there are suitable food for him to eat.

I am not a super strict mom even though hb n I have allergies. On and off we let D tastes (really just taste a few mouths) a bit of our food, if suitable, like KFC mashed potatoes, v sweet soft fruits such as mango, rice, pork ribs soup, etc. Well, ultimately, they are to grow up n eat like us so as long as he is eating a variety, healthily, I m not so fussy about that.

Have not given D cheese on its own. Usually added to his pasta which is cheddar cheese.

Erh... I have my reservation about cleaning toys with vinegar leh... wouldnt the plastic parts all get spoiled? Usually vinegar "eats" into plastic that's why we don't find them being sold in plastic bottles, only in GLASS btls.

Bought the Laughing Cow brand and gave Noah abit to taste but he didn't seem to take to it. On the other hand, when I have normal cheese slices in my bread and break bits off for him, he likes...

createjoy, I had bad luck with sippy cups, so I just tried my luck with straw top MagMag, and she miraculously just knew how to to suck. Chew on straw a bit, then somehow sucked. Like katelee, she also choked here and there the first 2-3 days, and sometimes too much water, it'll just drip out of her mouth all over her clothes, but now seems ok le. So maybe just keep offering till one day figure out? Keke... For cheese, I just read the nutritional info panel and buy the ones that have less sodium. Those that don't list sodium, I didn't buy, just in case... Oh and for milk, S also cries after 210ml, so I have been slowly increasing till now 250ml, don't dare to go up further, cos I also can't imagine how her stomach can be big enough to contain so much. She seems happy with 250ml.

bbjun, agree that no salt/sugar till they are as old as possible is the best way to go, and may be the motivation for parents bringing food out for their kids. But I don't think at that age, their food should still be gloopy...

That was the part that scared me haha.

There are stupid cats downstairs fighting super fiercely, with all the accompanying screams. ARRGGHH. If they wake my kid up, I'm gonna throw water bombs downstairs! Super irritating, now they have progressed to wailing in heat!!

I'm a cat lover, but I can truly understand why some people detest stray cats. Argh.

re: tofu
btw, my mil told me dat tofu cannot be eaten together with spinach. cos "you du" (got poison). dunno why lah, maybe chemicals reaction or dunno wat. dat day wanted to put tofu and spinach in j's porridge, but mil say cannot, say some veges cannot mix with other things. so ended up i added tofu wif pumpkin.

i jus cut a portion of tofu den put the rest in a container and back into the fridge. when i next take it out, i will pour out the water in the container first den cut another portion out again. dunno y somehow got water one leh.

so envious to read babies drinking 210 to 250ml of milk. wonder when J do dat...

jus nw i tried btl on him, cry and cry and cry. keep wanting me to latch on, keep crying and crying until he fell aslp. so poor thing....
