Alfafa,
Was going to touch on insurance then my pump session end... so here's part 4 of my travel series...
Tip #2: Buy Travel Insurance
Basically no insurance means totally zero chance of being looked at in the hospital. Do make sure the coverage is high for medical expenses just in case. USA's medical cost is freaking expensive. My visit there to diagnose that i got mastisis and get prescription cost me ~US$460, which was more than what i paid for both me and bb C's insurance. Whew! I bought AIG.. very impressed with them i must say.. called them before i went to hospital and they advised for me to call back should the bill be estimated to be higher than S$5000 cos they would pay direct. Good news right? COs travel insurance is normally on a reimbursement basis, imagine if the cost goes higher than 10K? where to find the cash to pay first right? When i submitted my claim, there were a lot of missing documents cos i din know what to keep. Submitted my claim with a covering letter and the cheque came with no questions asked. really impressed.
Tip #3: Make do without toiletries
On my trip there... i packed my usual toiletries to use on board, cleanser, toner, etc... end up, never even used it.. hahaha.. so dont bother packing all these lah.. try to bring something that is allin one.. dont have time to use... too busy looking after baby... hahhaa For toys.. i brought but end up she was sleeping through the whole flight back so no use at all. And bb is actually quite happy to be sticking onto me allthe time.
Tip #4: Carrier or Stroller
U can actually choose to check-in the stroller at the check-in counter or check-in stroller at the gate. If u check in the stroller at the gate, u get to push the stroller at the airports. Not very useful in my opinion cos my stroller went on the wrong flight for my SF leg.. grrr.. Also for stroller, u have to carry baby from stroller at the security check points and put the stroller into the X-ray machines. Real troublesome
I think u are more comfortable with carrier. For carriers, u dont need to carry baby out. Just wear the carrier with bb in. However, make sure that there is absolutely nothing that is metal on the carrier (not even metal buttons) else u would have to end up removing them. Quite a hassle when u are alone with the baby. By the way, some under-wired bras do activate the sensor so just wear nursing bra lah... too troublesome.
Hee hee... that's the end of my travel series. I hope that it is really useful for u.
