(2008/11) November 2008

Olwen,
U also received the coupon in your mail box?
I am going to buy 2 tins this wkend. Rachel drinks tat fast? How much is she drinking now? My boy will take abt 3wks to finish 1 tin 1.8kg of Friso. He doesn't like milk. Now on pedisure once a week and gradually increase to 1x a day as he is small 8.5kg @19mths and 77cm tall.

Any mummies bring toddler for MMRV vaccine @ 15mths ? Anyone knows when is the 2nd booster jab? Is it @ 4-6yrs? Cos my PD recommended chickenpox booster jab @ 21mths. Then MMR @ P1 in school. I tot is another jab of MMRV.

olwen, how much rachel drink each day?
If she finishes one tin in 10days, that means she consumes 180g of FM each day. Divide into 4 feeds, that will be 45g per feed. Er... dunno that means how many scoops.

Thx mummies for all the wishes!! Im still stuck here. Wish i can go hm. Duno wat to do here exp wait, eat, sleep and breastfeeding bb. Yawnz! Cant wait to go hm tomolo. Hehe. Hope i can bring bb back wit me cos so many cases of jaundice at the moment.

Olwen, my son's name is ayden. Realli fell in love wit the name. I can tell he's a patient child unlike the sis very tempermental. Haha.

Lian
u pm me lah i msg u bk my number. Im so called new member mah. Hehhe. Juz join last yr april. Kekkeke.

jo..
oh..ur MIL is soo hardworking to make pure fruit juice..i think u just let her know that u will prefer to take breakfast 1st then drink ba..in case you are sensative & will get LS easily..i know some pple does..

but i think for L, better not to let him take on empty stomach la..he's soo young..dun think it's really "good" to let him take in early morning, maybe lunch time?

olwen...
indeed not easy..even with 2 maids, sometimes too many pple in the house will be in a "you-thought-i-think-who-confirm" kind of state..sigh..better not to let ur dad quarrel too much in front of the kids too..esp when u hv a older one at home too..

yen..
i do not have the intention to let Brod take MMRV..infact i will probably let him take seperate jabs like gor-gor..

mummy2nia..
ayden is a nice name..congrats once again & hope u get over-flowing supply too..rest well hor..

Hello.. drop by for a bit since I am in the midst of waiting for my drafts to be returned.

Mummy2nia, congrats! like i said that day on FB, may u be blessed with overflowing amt of milk!!

Minky congrats and take care!
happy.gif

Olwen, 1.8kg in 10 days??! OMG. technically speaking, the recommended amt on the tin can last the stipulated time recommended to finish it. i.e. for Gain IQ, it is 12 scoops a day, shd be able to finish in 3 wks. how much is Rachel taking?? u shd be able to tell on wkends no? to finish in 10 days, she shd be taking more than 24-30 scoops a day (using Gain IQ as e.g.)! which works out to be 1.2L!

Re: opened tin of milk powder
I would recommend u all to separate the milk powder into a container u open daily and leave the rest in the tin. Milk powder is a very very gd source nutrients for fungus!! u might not be able to see it and in our high humidity env, they are everywhere. Hardening of ur powder already indicates moisture contamination.

Bear, thanks for t tips on FM storage

mummy2nia, PM u liao
U alone stayed in 4 bedded ward? Your hubby stayed w u anot? Else alone veri boring one leh, somemore cannot move ard.

Wtan,
Thanks for ur compliments!
I chose MMR over MMRV cos the latter needs 2 jabs and subsequently another booster when they are older. Besides i find all the vaccines in 1 jab is kinda scary. I'm still putting on hold for the chicken pox jab and Pneumo. For MMR, the next booster is at 7yrs when they are in pri 1. Sigh!! Why so many jabs.. like never ending.
PG: R loves to sing and play with kids so i thought might as well introduce her to PG earlier. I find as she gets older, she is getting more shy and not so open to strangers so i better let her interact more now to counter this.

Minky,
Yup, i understand it's better to take Pneumo jab as she's going to PG. If she takes now she need 2 jabs. After 2, just 1 jab. Hmmm....

Olwen,
Ur R drinks so much? How heavy is she now? Must be very chubby. Kekeke. 1.8kg in 10 days is a lot leh.

Jo,
I think for kids better not to take juice on empty stomach.

vaccines
aiyahz.. tt day brot my gal for her booster jab and told e nurse nex wil b MMR.. She said why not take MMR+chicken pox and i told her i hav no intention at all to hav that combined jab.. instead i dun hav intention of giving chicken pox jab at all cos most of us also went thru tt pox days wat.. when it comes then let it come lor.. why mus inject so much tings into the poor child.. Haiz. then the nurse went on and went say last time and now is different.. and told me tt dun play play cos may hav lots of complications if the child gena.. ! Somemore giv me brochure.. -_-" Buay tahan lei..

Good morning mommies!

Bear,
Thanks for your tips on storing FM. It has never crossed my mind about fungus breeding. But for J3, since she can finish a 1.2kg tin in about 2-3 weeks, can still keep it in the tin? Cos I scared if my maid portion out the milk, she will contaminate it more with her fingers.

Jo,
I tink eat something first will be better bah. Cos fruit juice is more acidic right? Scared will upset the child's tummy.

Mummy2nia,
Take care and enjoy the rest at the hospital lah. Later go home no more nurses to wait on you hand and foot leh. At least got people visit and pamper you wor. hahahahah....

Hi Lucia,
Welcome! Enjoy chatting with all of us.

Yen,
J3 has already taken her MMR. I did not allow her to take the MMRV cos to me it's a new drug and I'm not sure of the side effects. So being KS, I better stick to what I know. For chic pox, will definately let J3 take it later on. But I also dun know when. Forgotten liaoz. *lolz*

hi mummies, sounds like many tods hv not taken MMR, pnuemo, chix pox etc...
the jabs are really never ending and i hv lost counts too. my gal has taken most of these jabs already and still not done. she's got hep (dun know A or B?) booster upcoming next mth.
any mums bring yr tods for hep jabs already?

Hi mummies,

my boy got to postponed his 18mths jab again...cos he haven't totally his flu n cough with phlegm. N this morn he is having fever...today the CC is closed due to family day so we send him to my mum's place. Currently, his fever had subside but he dun have appetite le...haiz...

Mummy2nia
congrats! Yr prince is lovely

dymples,
I emailed the principal regarding the curriculum and this is what she says ...
Usually when they are new children, the teachers will modify and simplify the daily activities so that more time can be spent allowing the new children to fit in and mingle with existing children and teachers. I will encourage my teachers to provide more hands on activities to engage the new children so that they will not be bored thus causing them to break away from the group.
Means normally when there are new children, teachers wont follow the planned activity list for the first few days. Kinda strange to mi.

Peanut,
I also dun have any intention to let my gals take chicken pox jab cos same thinking as you.

Dymples or any mummies with kids in childcare,
Do you think it is good to let the kid start cc with half a day during orientation and after that straight to full day??
I have been reading up on cc topics cos I intend to let my gals go cc by end of the yr. I read somewhere that sometime a kid like cc for the 1st few days but after that the after-effect comes back double in accepting.
Should I said slowly introduce them into the enviroment in order not to create a phobia in them? Maybe 1st week half day, 2nd week 3/4 of the day and then full day?

babyzel..
ya, u hv the same mindset as me, if all in 1 jab like too much hor..esp when this is a new combination..i also not sure abt it..also since gorgor took seperate jabs, i will let didi also take seperate jabs..it's very good to hear that R is interacting very well with others..then i agree that u shd intro her to PG earlier..i think maybe u can consider the chicken pox jab soon coz she's entering PG ma..but Pneumo i think shd be ok to wait till she's 2 yr old whc is coming soon in a few mths time..

nut..
at 1st i also hv the similar mindset as u when i was hesitating to let #1 take chicken pox vaccination..but aft awhile i thot..with the discussion with #1's mummies friends..even thou no 100% prevention but aft jab if kena, at least wont be that full-blown ma..so i let him took also..

snnowy..
slowly intro will be gd..but hw to gage also must depends on each kids' adapting style..some maybe 1 day ok, some 1 wk or 1 mth still crying also..but slowly will be better la..if not the kid will also find a shock of the environment & with soo many strangers (other little kids) crying at the same time..

Jo,
Oh really yah... but I tot if they continue the lessons as per normal will be easier for the child to adapt to CC mah. So far, the other CC's I send my older gals to did not ooperate like this. Lessons and all activities continued as per normal. Somemore I changed my older gal's CC like more then 5 times and all of them operate like this leh. No such thing as modify the timetable. *scratch head*

Anyway, after 'checking' on J3 the past few days, I find their timetable still same as when I brought her in for the orientation. Still nothing much educational. When I talked with the teachers, they said during this age, they use more games and fun to 'teach' as the toddlers are too young to have formal lessons. Which I also do agree lah.

Snnowy,
I'm those that allow my gals to adapt slowly to CC. For 1st week, I send only 1/2 day. 2nd week is 3/4 day and after that is full day. In the case of J3, cos both my dad and baby got difficulty adjusting, things are done differently. J3 will be going for 1/2 day for whole month of June. Then July will increase to 3/4 day. *lolz*

In addition, once they start CC, the daily routine will change right? I will try to minimise the changes and keep it as consistent as possible.

Jo, i think the principle anyhow give excuse
If every wk got new kid join in, then the CC forever will have that 'relax timetable'
It's not fair to 'old birds' right? hahaha

lian,
I've bought the eggcurd from a dessert stall in chomp chomp market once. found it so-so nia leh. my SIL commented that the milk taste was abit strong for her. maybe u can buy from those dessert stalls first to try then decide lor.

..either cheong for PC Show, or watch World Cup or holidaying liao..hehe..oh ya, maybe GSS too..saw from newspaper those sale & Mastercard also reported the increase in spending..woo hoo..

dymples & lilian,
I find it nonsense too... imagine every week also got new toddlers coming in ... so their planned weekly activity list is redundant cos every week also need to simplfy and modify their timetable to allow new toddlers to adapt.

lilian,
U really dunnoe what's GSS?

lian..
GSS = Great Singapore Sale...aaa...

minky..
i m sure ur side also got sale till u cannot resist gg for lunch, right? yes, PC Show this round at Suntec..

Jo, ya, me live and work in kampung dunno wats GSS.
Kidding lah!!! U know where i work right, here where got shopping???? Got money oso no where throw :p

Jo, i think you should just withdraw Lucas from there... sound like lots of crap.
Wtan, here quite boring bt got kids stuff so i will buy n buy... which is bad.. just got issac a toy story golf club with some balls to play
happy.gif

minky..
wah..ya..i was thinking even thou bored but sure got things to buy one..haha..somehw somewhere..i had a kiddy golf club at home but i m worried the boys will take that to hit each other or hit my tv (hahaha)..so for time being it will be hidden till at least Brod is older then I will take it out..hehe..

minky..
think sac shd be ok la..u let him play now..later when newborn is out then keep in case he swing across at newborn..ok? coz they wont knw what to avoid & will probably thot anything under the sun is fine..

Dymples, I usually split a can of milk into two. Half in tupperware which i open daily and half remains in the tin. I use those big ladle (like soup ladle) to transfer into the tupperware, NOT the milk scoop.. Or else i dunno take how long to scoop man! haha.. must make sure the ladle is very very dry. Soup ladle is gd cos of the long handle hence ur hands dun even enter the tin!

I just came back from shopping. :p hehehe.. i need a break man. so many things happening, at home, in sch and at work. feel really overwhelmed and closed to tears a lot of the time. sigh..

Bear, retail therapy ah ... nice...
If i have the same workload as u hor, tink i would have long become siao liao. Salute u!

bear..
wah..shopping ah..indeed i totally agree..must give urself "me-time"..to re-charge lo..if not can be rather stressing..how was ur damages??

Bear,
Oic. That's a good idea.
biggrin.gif

Wah seh... if I got such full workload like you hor, sure buay tahan lor. Can understand your feelings. Good yah... at least got some retail therapy. Any good bargains to share?

GSS, PC Show,
Wah... I'm also sssoo tempted to go shop shop. But too bad this month I already busted my budget. *sob-sob* no more shopping till Pay Day. Must tahan.

wtan, minky,
Aiyohz... I also scared to let my gals play with anything that got long sticks. Cos they will either end up fighting and hit each other, or they may break my stuffs. Either way, I have 'banned' such items from my house. So bad mommy hor.

Yeah i need time to rest too. but i hardly have time to do anything. if i m not rushing office work, i spend all my time writing up my thesis or play with Z. I m so grouchy and stressed out that i snap at everybody lor. a little bit of thing only i feel like crying. sigh.. hb told me i need to slp more, but how issit possible? i NEED to finish my stuff wat.

Wtan, hehe.. i bought 2 pairs of shoes for $180.. then a bra cos i realised i cannot wear all my old bras liao. they are too small for me!

dymples..
no choice leh..coz at times when u really cannot "watch" at them 100% fully hor..u wont know how curious they can get..i m very worried too...esp when sometimes at my mum's place, the boys are given chopsticks as drum sticks..stress...

bear..
yes..really not easy as a working mum..i think at times when u r at work stress, go home also stress by the kid, really can scream & pull hair one..

wah..nice leh..shoes and bra change size ah..wah..gd that ur asset are well-maintained & uplifted...i need to go get mine too, somemore my asset saggy le..so looked soo ugly..soo sad...

Hi Mommys

My gal is a Nov BB. Have have not attended any classes yet. Didn't want to send her to childcare so soon, but is thinking of a few enhrichment courses. The following are what i have shortlisted, maybe you gals can give me some feedbacks.

1) Julia Gabriel - Playnest at East Coast. Only on Saturday
2) zoophonic - at serangoon
3) Seimpi ay Hougang Mall - will be attending a trail lesson tomo
4) STACCATO at Turf club - going for a trail lesson the following weekend

Hi Jo

My ger will always drink milk at about 7.30am++ in the morning. At 9am, she will have breakfast, i will puree fruits (e.g. apple, pear, peach etc..) + oatmeals ceral. She have been having that since she was 6 mth old. Kind of routine already now.

However, Doc did tell me that if my BB is prone to stomach flu , or weak stomach. Always feed them with boiled apple or pear and not raw.

Bear,
Woohoo, u went shopping.. So nice! Managed to buy lots of stuffs? Good that you have some time for yourself today. U need such breaks once in a while.
Yup, using ladle is a good idea, i use those big metal spoon also wasted so much time transferring the whole tin to the tupperware. Usually i take half then the rest of the half in the tin goes to my mil's place.

R and me just came back from Pasir ris with Alibaba,T n their helper. Spent a great afternoon at the Mainland Tropical Fish Farm.

Alibaba,
R is totally exhausted after her bath.Snoozing right now. Thanks for sending us back home. : )

Peanut,
I also think the same as u on the chicken pox vaccine leh. Last time we also let nature takes its course when it comes to chicken pox.

Lilian,
I ordered the egg beancurd twice. Quite nice lah. But i'm not craving for more.

Its only first week at childcare centre and Lucas is back with a fever today! Haiks.

Lucia,
I told my MIL abt my stomach problem and asked her not to give Lucas fruit juice on empty stomach in the morning.

lucia
i stay in hougang and i dun even know there's an enrichment school in hougang mall, haha

what short of enrichment trial class did yr gal attend and how was it?

jo, hope lucas is better now. lots of viruses going on, got to take care...

my gal is down with conjunctivitis, oso dun know how and where she got it from, as nobody at home has got it... PD said could be a sympton of running nose too, haiz... hope not.

Viruses are everywhere ... we mommies tather fall sick ourselves than our kids fall sick ... rite?

Lucas fever has subside ... but will not send him to CC for the next two days so that he can recover more first.
