Darlest,
Welcome

Soho,
Moomummy is right. MMR is a complusory jab. I gave my #1 when she was 15month old. Apparently the clinic did not update the record and I just recieved a letter from National Healthcare to jab her if I have not done so. If yes, send a copy of the immunisation record to them asap.

snnowy, thanks for the link! i didn't know such a thing exist, i'm so sua ku, haha

re: MMR
according to PD, this is commonly linked with autism but scientifically proven to be untrue. and think it's something to link with allergy aspect, that's why PD will always ask us to give our kids whole egg prior to MMR.

my personal opinion: although our kids are exposed to some side effects after certain jabs, but if we delay their jabs due to this reason, it would likely mean they are potentially exposed to the risks of contracting more serious illness. therefore i do think that if your kids are well to take the jabs, then go for it earlier rather than later (anyway sooner or later also got to do mah). the benefits of jabs definitely surpass all these temp side effects.

Jes
She's yet to take the jab partly also becos she has been sick for almost a month with runny nose and cough.. Jus when the runny nose had recovered yest she gena again and it's getting yellowish... again!! I wonder why it comes back!! v sian lor.. i see her take so much med until heartpain.. MIL say let it recover by herself dun bring to doc liao but i'm worry things wil get serious if untreated.. on the other hand i really can't bear to see her taking medicines for so long.. Thats y even aft she recover i dun tink i wan to bring her to the jab yet cos dun wan her to get sick again in such short period of time and when i'm not in Spore..

Lynn
jus the day before, my MIL said my gal only use 1 diaper during that day cos she also control her bladder sometimes until MIL let her shhh in e toilet.. I'm not too concern abt letting her go diaper free yet cos she's stil a small kid mah anyway wahahaa.. I;m more concern if she jus pee out and mess up the place when she's not in diaper.. wahahahaa....

Lynn..
I'm bringing my parents to Beijing cos last year my mum already showed interest in going there and my father loves history.. So i guess they'll like the place.. Anyway they're already so old, when they stil can afford to walk a bit than better bring them there fast.

As for Bintan.. after getting Nini's passport i feel like jus bringing her to a short getaway with the whole family.. Also feel a bit bad leaving her in Spore with MIL when i go Beijing

Yup Jes is right. Dun skip t jab just bcos u scared t child gets sick...
I am also waiting for K to start talking then bring her to t MMR jab.

pnut, ya for your case u hv no choice but to delay the jab... since nini is still not recovering, do u think maybe can take her to a different PD, since the current medicines dun seem to work for her? hmm... tink for kids to recover themselves not easy bah, cos their immune system not as strong like us adults...

Jes
yah i intend to wait a couple of days see how.. if get worst no improvement i'll bring her to another doc liao... haiz... People keep asking if e doc got giv antibiotics not which he did not.. mayb its really time to giv her liao since sick for so long.. thou i know antibiotics are not good

lynn, wow B very clever leh so fast oredi almost toilet trained... btw, do u put on training pants for him when he's off diapers?

tried to put my gal on potty sometimes but dun work leh, she will scream.

pnut, ya lor, PD dun usually give anit-b to kids unless bo bian bah. anyw tink it's good if u get a 2nd opinion from another PD, else perhaps can consider TCM oso like some mummies do.

Jes
my MIL actually discourages TCM lei.. she said her sis's grandchild cough for very long as well then went TCM become worst got to bring hospital.. Then the other tod she looking aft gena lao sai and dunoe wat else aft see TCM also worst..

nut
after taking all the ang mo medicine which is quite strong for kiddos, seeing TCM is to recuperate. usually angmo medication is more effective faster to recover especially fever. whereas chinese medicine take slower effect. & also not all kiddos like the taste of chinese herbs.

Ali
She has been taking med non-stop for 3weeks+ liao.. From the initial struggle to feed her.. to the gradual corporative toddler to guai guai take the med.. to the finally "i'm sick of taking all these med" and back to struggle again.. Now all the med finished liao she's still not recovering.. Tink i'll stop for a couple of days and see how before deciding

nut
if she is not getting any better, seek for 2nd opinion lor.. probably she need stronger medication. for TCM probably see those reputable lah.. like EYS one.. If not wrong, last time bbzel bot her gal see EYS one & got well with TCM's medication.

duno how's lucas now? hope he is better now.

MMR
i didnt wait for T to talk leh.. he is still blabbering... will effect his speech ah?

I didn't know MMR must wait for kiddo to talk. What's the link, huh?
Nat has an appt for MMRV in 2 weeks' time, but she's babbling all the time. Pls enlighten.

pnut, agree with alibaba, if wanna try TCM, go for those reputable ones. anyw only if u r comfortable with TCM, else jus go to another PD, or consult a specialist bah.

alibaba, my PD said if the kid is blabbering its ok the take MMR jab. its just to play safe although they kept emphasising that speech has got nothing to do with taking the MMR jab. contradict rite.

I tink that's becos some studies are associating vaccinations (esp those multiple in one jabs like MMR) with autism.. says in this modern days there's an big increased in # of autistic kids which could be caused by all these vaccinations (due to some preservatives found in there).... and speech delay is 1 of the symptoms to look out for in austism.. That's y some parents prefer to wait till their child has better speech development before going for MMR as they're worried it'll worsen the development i guess...

Hello mommies,

MMR,
Bb J took her MMR already at 15-months. Only side effect is she got fever and fake measles 1-week after taking the jab. Previously people are scared to take MMR because of the assumed link between autism and MMR. However, that link has been oficially debunked by the scientific community. For me, I'd rather let bb J take the jab early then wait till later cos I certainly don't want to risk her catching either of the virus.

TCM,
I agree that TCM is good to "Bu" the baby's body. When my #2 was 'hit' repeatedly by bronchitis, when she recovered after taking western medication, I brought her for TCM baby massage. It was done at a TCM clinic in serangoon area. The physician is quite good. Initially my #2 will scream and cry during treatments. But each time after the massage can see her 'colour' gets better and not so much runny nose symptoms. By the 7th or 8th treatment, baby's health improved tremendously so we stopped. Thereafter no more bronchitis again.

Talking,
Baby J is quite good in her linguistic skills as compared to her jie-jies. To date she can say words like : Thanks / Raining / Walk-Walk / Mommy / Daddy / Mama (short cut for Grandma) / No no / Fish / Bird.

Most importantly she understand the meaning of the words too. Like yesterday when it started to rain, she pointed outside the window and said:"Mommy. Raining." I was ssoo surprised.

Peanut:
No lah. Not say after MMR sure will kena sick. Alyssa for 1 din get sick at all after MMR. I din give her anything to prevent fever too. But if Nini is not well, then dun take the jab now.

MMR can delay for a while de. My colleague's gynae and PD delay her #1's MMR till beyond 24 mths (dunno she take already anot) coz my colleague was pregnant with #2 when #1 supposed to take MMR. It is dangerous for pregnant women to be in close proximity of any Rubella virus.

Re: Egg vs MMR
The MMR jab contains egg white I think. Hence, it is necessary to ensure that the kid is not allergic before taking the jab. I introduced Alyssa to egg white before the jab and she has been taking eggs (yolk + white) ever since.

MMR, didn't know there's so many complications for MMR, brought my gal for the jab when she was 15mths old..

Mummies, I got a shock this morning when i saw my 1.5mths old boy sleeping on his tummy. My MIL had left him sleeping on his side with a bolster last night, meaning to say he had actually flipped to sleep on his tummy himself. Luckily he managed to turn his head to e another side and not face down else So dangerous! But isn't it to young for him to flip?? And he didn't wake up to have his usual night feed, 12hrs didn't drink till i turn him to sleep on his back then he woke up.. Don't think i dare to sleep tonight, kind of worried..

Fifi
yah but i wan to anticipate that.. i dun wan to risk her getting sick again not long aft the recovery... or being away when she's sick.. like that i go oversea also keep worrying abt her..

Jenn
some baby shops got sell the cushion thing that can prevent them from flipping.. u can check out.. or else everynite worry how to sleep.

Peanut, will check that out.. thanks!

Lilian , Darlest, the bolsters are placed on his left and right side, dun think is slipped cause his face was facing another direction instead when i saw him on his tummy.. anyway, gonna keep a close look on him now...

Fifi, I brought my gal for MMR 3 days before i delivered my boy leh~ the GP never mentioned anything... hmmz~

Jenn,
Yes.. yes.. I used those type of pillows that will prevent baby from flipping. Can get from the Taka baby fair. Not expensive. Kiddy Palace also have.

ChildCare,
Aiyohz... I'm urgently looking for childcare for Janessa around my area. So sad... Kinderland got no vacancies at moment. Next available class will only commence next year in Jan. *aarrgghh* But I need to out her in by July. *headache*

duno u gals have this problem..
ev day at certain timing.. bb will want to go downstair walk walk... -_-" my boy always do that to me only... 8+pm.. will cry to ask me carry .. or lead me to the main door. & wanna wear his shoe... GO OUT~~~ haiyo...

alibaba, yes!
a routine habit for them liao i guess. my gal needs walk-walk 2-3x daily - morning, evening & possible nite. but fortunately for me, i'm not her walk-walk person. she will find her dad & ah gong only.

alibaba
yes, my boy will walk to the main door and stand there to cry if I never bring him for walks after i return home from work..
and if he sees his cousin going out, he'll wail like nobody's business..
sad.gif

And hor bring him out must take the lift down one... if u walk to the lift lobby & Uturn back he will WAIL~~~ gosh... kns cannot bluff him...

if use stroller, once let him out of stroller to walk, he wont wan to sit back his stroller... end up if he tired, mus carry him & push the stroller -__-""

hi all mummies, when does our child need to sleep on pillow? if dun sleep on pillow, will it affect the neck? & also use those kirei hand soap wash their hand?

Re : MMR

Not sure whether it is worth anything....but to share that my boy took it at 15 mths and he did not develop any fever or other symptoms, just like fifi's gal.... so not all kids will get fever...

Jo, poor Lucas, hope he is feeling much better now...

peanut, maybe u wanna try giving nini some supplements? hope to boost her immune system?

darlest

both my kids are on pillows and bolsters leh.... my boy is using the babysafe infant pillow while my gal is using the kids pillow..

kash: i also got the babysafe infant pillow and bolster.. in fact every night he use bolster.. my mom say use bolster hug, will press tight his chest. so when thunders or loud noise, got the bolster to press the chest.. not scare.. just like the beansprout pillows.

MMR: my boy is only babbling as in not talking.. only know how to say mama.. yes i know some PDs say not linked to autism. but some say wait.. am in doubt don know believe who? am worried cause brandon is not speaking.. he very slow.. some children i see when the teachers say clean up your toys. they can bring their toys and put in the bin. mine.. don know how to keep.. haiz..

jes: brandon is not in any training pant. he wear short only. we try to every half an hour bring him go urine. he didn sit on potty. boy boy ma. we bring him to the toilet bowl and shhh.. there are some oops.. some time when we just bring him to urine, he can urine again on the floor.. but NEVER scold him if he didn want to urine. this will discourage him.. if he urine, everyone will praise and clap hands. then he very proud and will show u again.

walk: wow.. so envy.. all the mummies bb here can walk on his own? mine still cruising.. he didn like me to finger walk him. he will lift up his legs or lift back his head so i couldn finger walk him.. haiz. if i let him walk around cruisin then he walk.. haiz.. headache..

darlest: my boy sleeps on the infant pillow.. those flat type. we try to let him sleep the normal pillow. but every time when he turn, he slips down..

babyzel..
u also hvnt bring R to MMR, me too, but my case was bcoz we wanted a reasonable break of at least 2mths coz he was really on/off sick non-stop cycle for a while..since the latest review at KKH was to change his current FM to either soy or goat's milk..hence we wanted to let him take a break for time being..actually his next appt is Apr 1st but i intend to "drag" alittle when it's near to Apr 1st..so i will call to delay again later..

lynn..
maybe u can try to intro hard-boiled egg yolk 1st for at least 3 days..then if ok, then u intro the egg white ba..

darlest..
welcome to nov 08 thread..when's ur girl dob & what's her name?

peanut...
hope u will hv an enjoyable trip to Beijing..i guess the weather shdnt be as cold for Apr, right?

jenn..
was he sleeping on his side when u found him flip?i only remembered when Brod was a wk old..he can actually turn his head to sleep at the other side when we tried to let him nap on his tummy then..but that was during the day time la..so we are watching him..but i think u might just want to rest a pillow or bean spout pillow on his tummy for now? hmm..also he can sleep thruout now at this age ah..this is great~

alibaba..
Brod will hv a certain timing in the day time to go down coz that is the usual timing MIL will need to go downstairs coffeeshop to tabao her lunch..so at the time if he's still in the house, he will also get cranky & point towards the door wanting to go kai-kai..

Hi kash, so gd for your boy!

lynn & kash, i only giv my gal bolster. the pillow come with it when i purchase the cot bumper & blanket when im MTB tat time. the pillow is there on the bed but somehow she didnt sleep on it. my gal sleep she always move ard on the bed. one moment u see her lying horizontal, next vertical..

lynn, my gal can also walk liao. maybe u can start giving him those push & walk walker like baby push cart to train his leg.

hi mothers of Ricky brothers, my princess's name is reyess. Dob is 30th nov. she is overdue when she born.

i also hav not intro egg to my gal yet. when she turn 1 yr, i did boiled an egg & dig the egg yolk to let her try, she crank up her face & squirm & shake her head when i try to feed her again.. after tat i never try again.. coz i dislike to eat egg yolk too.. kekeke..

Hi mummies ...
Lucas fever subsides already .. finally had a good nite sleep for all of us yesterday nite. BUT he is now having his fake measles. His front and back body already got the rashes. I ask PD if its caused by e MMR jab he says got nothing to do with it. For the next one week, he will look like an ugly boy with no appetite.

hi darlest: your baby is just one day before bibi. who has been MIA for a loooong time.

moomum, jes: y'day i brot rachel to fun w tots at cheng san library. only $2 but it's just half hour. toddlers between 1 to 3. the librarian reads stories to them, gives tips to parents, lots of songs & finger games. R sit there & stare, sometimes cry a bit but at least she paid some attention. came home, as expected, all my mum asked was "did u borrow any books for kai?" then turned her attention back to the 2 boys. u gals may want to try since live nearby.

Re: MMR
i echo aly_nat & jes' opinion. for these compulsory jabs under the childhood immunisation program, u cannot refuse to let your child take it. for tt matter, if & when your kids start childcare or pre-school, the school also will want to see their health booklet & remind u to get these vaccinations done. what i know is for MMR-V, there is no need for a MMR booster in pri 1.

aly_nat: your aly at least will change plans. i tried to bribe kai with toys r us also no use. cheh.

Jes,
My #2's immunisation record (6-in-1) was totally not updated at all. I had to called the clinic to fex all their record to SingHealth.

Olwen,
Where is Cheng San library near? AMK?

Alibaba,
My niece also needs to gai gai everyday w/o fail. At least 3-4x a day. Same you cannot bluff her, must take the lift and go down. Must stay at least 15mins before coming up.

Good morning mummies!

olwen,
thanks for sharing the info with us. I din know that there's this kinda half-hour programmes for toddlers at the library. me so back-dated.hehe..
Is the programme only on weekdays? or weekends too?

lynn,
don't worry about your kid still cruising now. they just need that little more time and confidence to walk on their own. you'll be surprised to see them one day, suddenly let go of what he's holding on to and walk towards you.
This was what i did when my boy was cruising. Maybe you can try.
I'll sit somewhere nearby him and watch him cruise. then when he turns to look at me, i'll just open up my arms and call out to him. he'll hesitate at first, but once he got one hand off the furniture he's holding on to, i took that hand of his and slowly led him towards me. he stumbles abit at first, but after a few tries, when he's got more confidence, he'll naturally walk towards you without much hesitation. If he's not willing to let go of the furniture, dun press him to do it. let him have his own time. try again the next time.
I was worried like you last time, but now, i got more headaches as my boy tends to trip and fall alot coz he's learning to run now.. :p

Wtan,
seems like the change of FM does help. in what situation doc advise u to change FM? cos my niece also keep getting sick on / off. nv ending..

wtan/snowy
my boy only aim me when i am at home.& maid told me he is not like tat.. probably he know i can bring him out not the maid bah.. jialat.. so hua kak... believe he is really bored staying at home whole day.. cannot blame him.

now it's my turn liao. he dun like to hold when he is outside... den like to pick up rubbish.. alamak..

Good Morning Mummies!

Regarding MMR:
i dunno if i wan to let my girl take MMR or MMR V at the moment leh. but i think my PD will ask her to take MMR-V ba. My elder girl took her MMR when she is 2 yrs old, i think will also let #2 take after her 18 month booster nearer to 2 yrs old. She is just recovering from her gastric flu which i had spread to both girls.
sad.gif
my poor babies...

Claudia recently vocab has improve leaps and bounds which I am very surprise. yesterday she saw a picture which i didnt notice in the beginning. She was going... Horse horse horse... i was like "WAT HORSE!" then i realised that she is pointing to a horse picture. kekek.... she is also a complain queen. When her jie jie hit her or anything she will faster walk to me and tell mi "Pain pain... (and pointing at the place where her sister hit her)" Then i will ask her wat happen, then she will point at her sister and say "jie jie"... Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....the 2 of them either is hugging and loving each other so much kissing each other all over or sitting there i hit u u hit me... haha...its really amazing watching your kids grow up.

jo,
was reading the achieve, not warm water for sponging hor. its normal tap water at normal temperature.

lynn,
wow! Brandon already diaper free??? good job Girl! my claudia only when she needs to poo she will say ng ng... other then tat she wears her diaper. kkee...

my girl has been taking eggs but dunno if 1 whole egg or not. cos on and off give him. For MMR jab, according to my PD, it is not neccessary for them to take the whole egg. just a small pc its find. and if you babies can take cakes, they are fine to take the jab. no worries mummies!
