Chaye, what time does he go to bed? My son always wake up at 6 7am, and the most he sleeps for 9 hours only at night. So he will become cranky when he din nap twice a day.. erm and he doesnt want to sleep and still run about during bedtime, so I got to force him to sleep. I dunno whether what I do is correct or not.

Pixie, dont sianz. I felt very bad yesterday too after punishing my son yesterday night. I felt damn guilty, luckily hubby comforted me and said my son wont remember what happened. Oh well, I have reflected and know that I got keep cool. Like what kam said.. How did you make him sleep? Pat him? 15min is fast. You mean your mil pat him for half an hour?

Pauline , you also pat R to sleep?

I asked this question because Shaun could only roll himself to sleep on his own when i'm not around. when i'm around i cant let him sleep on the bed himself and i got to force him in to sleep in yaolan very bad habit. I dunno how to break this habit ..
 


Tongtong, I got to lie down beside RaeAnne on my bed then let her flip/roll herself to sleep. Most times, it takes at least 30 mins. When lucky, just 15 mins. If unlucky, can be 1 hour (but usually surrender and ask hubby to carry her to sleep before that). :p

I'm looking forward to Sept hols. Will be staying at Amara sanctuary hotel on 11 Sept. Looking for suitable attractions at Sentosa to bring RaeAnne too. Anyone been to Sentosa Luge, any height limit if kid rides with the parent? No info on the website on that. :p

if at my place: coz he is tired, so i just lie down beside him, and let him roll ard, and zzz off in 15mins. if he still wanna play, i will say "sleep sleep" very fierce and he will quickly lie down (coz scared of me) and eyes will start to open, close, open, close...
if at my mil place: naptimes she sits next to the cot and read her papers etc while he roll/stand/jump for a long long time until exhaustion took over and he go zzz. at night, my mil co-sleep with him (i/o the cot) so he will zzz faster than naptimes. but also takes half hr.

if your boy is cranky in the day but sleeps less at night i think its just a vicious cycle. must start to change timing liao?
when i started weaning from 2x nap to 1x nap, i "lun" and let him sleep at 11am instead of 10+, then let him sleep at 11.30 instead of 11, then finally at 12 instead of 11.30....so on
 
btw tongtong, last sat i went to visit my mom cum bfast, and lunch...12noon (his nap time) i was still at my mom's place, left her place at 12-ish and slinged him home...walk-he no sleep, take mrt-he no sleep, board the bus liao, he just re-arranged himself and slept in my arms.
yay! i think he super tired plus be likes to be slinged. how i wish he sleeps on his own like that hurhur

Cheryl, so you will also put him in yaolan eventhough he doesnt seem wanna sleep yet?

pixie, he only sleeps 9 hours at night leh.. not enuff right? that's why he needs 2 times nap. we tried few times letting him sleep one time nap but not long enuff leh. that's why he cranky.
 
pixie, you using mim sling? i got the sling but stupid, still dunno how to use it. i lost the CD and dunno how to fix the sling!! urgh..

Tate goes to bed around 10 or 10.30pm if he wakes up from his nap ard 5pm.

Mine nap time can be 3 hours if yours is just 1 hr u can try to give another nap cos 1 hr is not sufficient and they get cranky if not enuf sleep...

sometime noon time hor, vernon oso slp in sling or in cab. lolz i think too tired KO... very fast 1 hor. like last sat. we go out at 10.. by 1plus he quite sleepy. i think when in the cab, we pat him while he lie down on my thigh, he fall zz very fast. less den 5mins

if he dun wan to zz hor, he wont even let him put him in lah. he will scream n cry loh.. usually he will let us put him in lah

sometimes my boy sleeps for 1.5hrs to 2 hrs instead of the 3hrs he's supposed to take....come 7pm+ to 8pm, he very cranky and tired liao so i can let him sleep as early as 7.30pm.
when i see that he took a shorter nap than supposed in the afternoon, i will let him have dinner at 5.30, 6.30 bath, 1 hr of play till 7.30...then led him to bed, let him roll ard till 8pm...then zzzzzz

yes i using mim sling leh. i didnt have the CD too. i trial and error use. very ez one lar. they have the instructions online. i folloed the online instructions one leh...http://www.momsinmind.com.sg/demo.html#slingusage
 
actually now it is easier to use the MIM sling. when they are younger i duno how to use at all... now not so scare can hurt him liao lol
 
cheryl, i absolutely love the mim sling. from few weeks old until now i still using. i haven tried the piggy back hold nia. will try it someday

wah pixie... 7.30pm is the time when I just reached home leh... most of the time my boy would hv just finished his dinner...

I am on 2 days MC, monday and tuesday. my high fever going on and off due to my tonsillitis. very painful when swallowing even drinking water. din feel like eating. only managed to take a meal for a whole day since sat. now cooking porridge to boost my energy cos I　feel weak now. muscles aching everywhere. When I feel cold, I can feel the chill in the bones...super uncomfortable. this is the worst fever I ever got.

I am not working in travel agency, it just that my coy organise a travel fair for all the stuff to get special room rates and certain packages but all are branded hotels so i consider still abit expensive.
 
Re Nap time

My elias naps once a day 4 till about 6 plus... Then eat dinner. There are times he can wake up at 7pm too! Day time.. Sometimes 12 he can sleep.. nowadays he dont want.. Used to pat on bed.. nowadyas he will keep coming down so we use pram to rock him which he will nap much faster lor.. SO tiring up to now he cant nap himself.. how abt you guys?
 
Just scolded my boy.. very naughty these days dont know why whenever he walks he dont want pple hold his hand.. Put behind his back.. like inspector.. Funny but also make me upset.. cos dangerous .. and he still anyhow throw things when he gets upset not being able do something right oe get his way.. SO angry put him in play pan now and he just anyhow throw everything out though I already speak to him very nicely.. Spank him once which I really dont wish to! And he has rge habit of always beating pple like pull ears lah. scrtch face lah.. bite pple when he is angry.. So mad.. Mil last time never correct hin taht why like that.. So pissed.. Is it normal so afraid Elias will become a big bully at school will he? Worried here

RE: Sleep

I will bring Javin into our room around 7-7.15pm to wipe down him, change into pyjamas. We will read together with him. About 7.45-8pm he will ask for milk. After milk he will carry his bolster then roll around on our bed for 30min then sleep. Then feed him again 1-2am plus depending on wad time i wake up in the middle of the nite. And he will wake up at 7-7.30am.

Its part and parcel of their growing stage that they "bully" pple. Try to explain to him the consequences dun beat him first. Cos now more or less they can understand us already. This is how i teach javin.
 
Tongtong, same same. Until now, I also don't know how to use. Luckily, most times, we use the stroller and she's happy to walk or me and hubby take turns to carry.

Fern, 4-6+pm nap then what time does Elias sleep at night? I don't like naps that are so late cos the kid ends up sleeping very and have adjusted RaeAnne's nap time accordingly.

It's like that lar. Grandparents are here to spoil not to discipline. You got to do that yourself.

Send him to playgroup early if you are scared. Once they go to school, they'll behave. My gal seldom beat others anymore cos there are always bigger and stronger kids than her in class. They can beat her up easily if she tries to be funny. Also, teacher will scold. haha. :p

Terrible leh.. Lik yesterday we went shopping without maid and he so horrible.. anyhow walk with hands behind dont want pple hold.. OF cos we have to force to carry if not wait break things or fall down.. And he pinch me lah, bite me la kick us la.. until we talk firmly he a bit scared and just follow but still bery mischievous wana pull down things from shelves.. Like take barney ride we let seat once he ok mah.. heard mil and my prants say must seat 6-7 times if not he will cry .. Faintz!

Really wonder how elias can mange when have no 2 esp they share room.. with mil(mattress) I guess I will need get a small study table in hall so he wont disturb sibling when he do work and play all in hall liao.. ONly sleeping in room cos me dont intend put cot in hall as very oily when maid cooks one lor.. sian. so tired.. he throw thing out of cot not once but upteen time.. tired picking up again and again his toys

ya, now have to start to discipline liao.. mine oso. think his grandma and aunt spolit him... alway use cry to get wat he want. nowadays i start to discipline him... now he will guai guai let me hold his hand outside...

harnor, 7.30 i just reach home from work too. weekends then i can have the luxury of putting him to sleep that early if he naps too little in the day.
i doubt my mil wants to put him to sleep so early. she always say he wont sleep one lar etc. let her be lor. at most she suffer nia, spent more time looking after my boy when she could've done that rite?

Cheryl: I have witnessed my cousin, who is very demanding. Partly because of my aunt "loves" him so much
Everytime he goes to department store, he will surely WANT to buy 1 toy. My aunt always buy for him and after that, he doesn't play with it the moment he walks out of shopping center. If my aunt doesn't buy, he will wail terribly.
It's not a good way to train up a child. I also often see parents who buys toys for kids without knowing that their kids are in control.
Not only toys, but also other things. Do not spoil a child, coz I do believe every child is gifted and they are born to be good. ;-)
 
HELP - Question about breast pump:

- For breast pump (either manual or electric), do we have to sterilize everytime after use? The Ameda guide says only sterilise once per day, then everytime after use is just rinse and pat dry. Like that the pump clean enough or not huh?

Today it's Hao Re last day at the childcare, they celebrate Teacher's Day today, so let him go. From tomorrow onward, will be at home with me liao. My challenging SAHM life will start tomorrow :)

dunno for ameda, but i sterilize my pump parts every use. not the motor or tubing har.
how is your bfding so far? ok?

btw, i went to see the honeytree childcare already. personally i dun really like the place cos i feel ventilation quite bad. i go in i feel so hot... the whole place is not air conditioned. i prefer got aircon la (pros and cons to it). then also place is small.. alot of children!!!... hahaaha... so i dun really like it
 
Kam, I always sterilize after I pump or if not I pump and put the pump in fridge, then later bring out to pump again, but hor the pump is very cold lor hehe. Btw, why do you want to have haore at home with u during confinement?

Jess, if closed air and no fan, then ventilation is bad. Its good if its not air-conditioned but provided its ventilated with open windows and fan lor.
 
kam, u can sterilise once a day, after each pump, u can put inside a tupperware container n put in ur fridge for next use.

i buy a few sets of bottles, pumps accessories. aft each pump, wash. each day sterilise 1 time? aft sterilise put into a container.

btw, the new packaging friso is packed in msia, no longer in holland..

Just got the Ameda pump today. Used for the first time. Not bad leh, pump for 20min, got 130ml both sides combined, today is Day 11 after delivery :)

Not lah. I won't be SAHM, I am not made to be one :) Just these 2 months only when I am on maternity leave.

got 130ml very good liao, my output was constantly 80ml combined for the 1st few weeks since my boy only took 45ml per 3hrly.
arent you happy that you finally got the chance to bf, since you always wanted this? happy cow = lots of output neh!

Thanks. Yes I am a happy cow now :) Hope this will last for long. I am hoping to BF for at least 6 months if not more. I know it will be difficult for me since I only have 2 months of maternity leave. I will try..... and sincerely hope the pump will help me greatly.

That is very good pumping. :D Congrats!

I sterilised every once a day for the ameda pump. BTW don't sterilise the valves and the "cup"- rubbery part, the rest u can do so. the 2 parts can be spolit easily if u sterilise them.

Gd supply u have...keep it up & keep pumping!

Ameda pump - i oso sterilised once per day. Don't sterilise the valves, bellows & tubing...use water to rinse/wash & air dry.
