lazykat, skye : i remember your dotters had the fake measles thingy... kaira after her fever has subsided now has rashes on her body ... how long did the rashes last for your babies ah? she's otherwise normal....

today saturday no doctor....thinking of bringing her to the doc on monday. but dunno if the rashes will still be there?
 


hey dreamer are the pediatrics in holland like always v booked? cos here in the US it's like so very hard to get an appt.

Ueno, don't mind me, I saw your blog and saw the many wonderful picture you took at disneyland. Now i'm really looking forward to going there to celebrate my boy's birthday. heard they have this package that you can buy for birthdays there going to check it out. Btw, you look v good in the pics!
 
suzanne, here the practice is "family doctor", not even PD. we have to register with ONE doctor and see only that ONE doctor.

so far, haven't been to see him yet ...... don't think it's that difficult to get an appt tho.

some things we take for granted back home ya .... =P

dreamer:hummmm think europe prefers herbal treatment so.....and is ur girl having rosella?(something like that spelling) my few friends bbs all got it and its very common.once in theri life time...either now or later....i prefer now though.

the rashes will be gone within 3-5 days..no worries..no need special treatment for that either, they come and go. hope that helps.
 
hi dreamer ya we really take things for granted back home in S'pore, everything is so much more convenient. Brought my son to the peads on Wednesday and the PD told me to let him fight it out on his own for 2 weeks gosh! no medication whatsoever. So i continued to give him his zyrtec that I brought from S'pore.
 
suzanne, i am not surprised at your PD's comments. That's pretty typical of westerner PDs. Or at least I heard that said to me before, when i brought Matt to a PD in Shanghai when he 1st had a running nose in the winter. I guess they just let the baby fight it with their immunity. Very different from Spore, whereby PD administer medicines straightaway.

tinkabel/suzanne - yarhlor, when we call the clinic here, the nurse say its good that babies have fever.... builds up their immunity. and no need to bring in to see doc unless baby very sick!! 8-| if still active and well, juz let her be....
 
That's why... Ayoh dunno why they like to let them fight it out. See them like that v poor thing leh... Can't eat and drink properly. And the worse thing is that I had to drive quite a distance to the PD cos the one nearby was like fully booked till the next day and they didn't even had the option of me bringing my boy in to wait. Ask me to call 911 if it's really serious. Stress man... Can you imagine if I really had his fever running high and had no medicine on hand? Have to wait till the next day then can get medicine... But bo pian lor..,, Seems all the doctors here like tat. Sigh....

seems like Kaira and Zee Yann shared similar fate when it comes to teething and roseola. According to the PD, once the rashes broke out, it means the fever would hv subsided (cos they hv successfully fight off the fever), and within 3 or so days, the rashes would be gone. She did administer some cream to apply and some oral medication to ease the itchiness (if any), and it really went off in 3 days' time. So I'm sure Kaira will be fine too

Today's Gymboree trial was another mad rush, with so many babies! Glad I've met a few mummies tho i think i missed out seashell and Langlao, cos din see Ash mah. Hope to say hi the next gathering.
 
Ueno, haven't planned yet now busy booking my hotels, rental car, shuttle service, have to stress over what to cook taht's easy for my boy during that 7 days too. I foresee I will have hugh luggage.
But I'll definitely use the rides you took as a guide. That'll save me quite a bit of time alreayd as i don't have to go through reading the rides my boy can take.haha!

Morning mummies, hope all the babies + family members who made it down for the trial class had fun. Poor Ethan was so excited that he didn't see where he was going & bumped his head. Thank goodness the bump has gone down somewhat this morning. Was great to meet up with all of you.=)

Lazykat: I agree with you - it was a crowded class! =P Zee Yann really looks like you and is such a confident walker. =)

Poissons: Glad to have finally met you & Garreth - he's such a happy baby, always smiling!

Kittybride: Chloe is such a so cute in her dress. Can still remember her smiling at her mummy & daddy on the "bridge".

Langlao: Can't believe I missed you on both opportunities! So sorry for missing the trial class on Saturday. My friend's wedding lunch ended very late at 4.45pm! Hope Ashlee is better today?

Cindy: Aiya, you should be glad you didn't come for the class la. It was really too crowded!

i am same as poochi. Jovan sleeps in his own cot in his own room since birth with no monitor. i used to sleep with him in his own room coz easier to BF but now i sleep in MBR. oh HB sleep in study room coz he dun wan to be waken by Jovan's cries at night!
read tat for first 6 months, it's better to sleep with bb coz it gives them more sense of security. coz during tat time, they dun even realise tat they are a separate entity from mummy!

i intend to go for a short trip from 14-17Nov. coz 17Nov infantcare center closed (langlao, take note!) & jovan's birthday is on 14Nov so might as well go for a short trip to celebrate his BD. but we haven make any bookings yet. dun even know where we should go!

brought travis swimming for the first time too on sat. it was so fun. but we went to a friend's condo. the mummies who brought bb to public pool, can i ask how u all settle the bath? ahha!

If you have safra club member, you can book Bintan Safra Villa (3 bedrooms) at a very cheap price. I think its abt $200+ per night.
Max is 7 adults in a villa works out to be less than $70 per pax.

I have book a trip to Phuket on budget airline. Hope my baby will cooperate during the 1 hour ++ flight. Now trying to introduce him take mesh up rice with soup. So at least when we go phuket, we just bring along those jar food and mix with rice + hot water..

Joseph is 4 days younger than Ethan and still not walking yet either. I'm wondering too when he can start to walk.

Do your kids hate wearing shoes as well? Joseph hates it! He always tries to kick them off.

Mummies, how was the trial class? Was it good? Anyone tried Little Gym at Forum? Thinking of going for the class tomorrow.

May I know will the bb become more sticky when teething? Cailyn has been sticky to me over the weekend and dont want me to put her down.. she will cry and cry and cry. kept wanting me to carry her. my DH cannot tahan her.. said dare not want no.2... scare both bb crying he will go crazy. Or is she just plainly naughty? sigh...

any good recommendation for cold weather? Good and nice color too.. haha..

Mummies with bb boys,
Wanna check how does your boy greet another bb or new frens? I find that my boy has this "rough" nature, his way of saying hi is by pulling the other bb's hair, face or clothes...I'm worried that he will grow up to be a rude child though we keep correcting him to do the right greeting. Wonder if there's a better way to teach him?

Cindy, I carry my boy and use the shower to bathe for him when he goes swimming in the public pool. We went for the photo shoot yesterday and Javier was so happy at the beginning but towards the last 15 mins, he just wanted to trash things out. Hee...
On MC today, so trying to pack and sort the house out with the maid around.

My boy hates shoes too. Me and my hubby got to hold him down in order to make him wear. But I bought one shoes with the "pak pak" sound. So every step he make, will have a sound. At least now he find it amusing to wear them.

Like to check with you all, where did you get the balloon weights for your party balloons? Can DIY them?
 
Hi Poissons - I guess this is part of growing up - no worries on Garreth being rough.Ashton is also like that - he will smack your face or pull your hair.... My nephew was like that when he was a baby and he is now 2.5years old, he will just say hi when he sees you. No more rough play....

My boy was super cranky when he was teething and all his 6 teeth came out at the same time. He was super clinging, cranky, refuse food, refuse milk.. and keeps waking up at night.

It was really a terrible time. Look out to see if she keeps drooling and any whites in her gum. If so, then got to get ready your teething gel heh heh..

how Jovan greets other kids depends on his mood. but usually he's quite friendly & will give them a big grin after checking them out for a few seconds. i think he likes to touch other babies face when greeting them. i'm not v sure if he'll smack other kids, but he does smack my lips when i tell him to "yang yang" me. hahaha. dun worry abt Garreth growing up to be a rude child. it's just a passing phase now since they still cant talk & still learning how to communicate with their gestures. i always put up my hand & wave abit when i wan Jovan to greet other kids/adults. i think tat's one way - always to show by example.

sstarlight: now she always dont finish her milk. last time she can give 50ml back to me.. now worst, 75ml or more.. she is still ok at night, wake up 1 time for night feed. But she just dont want me to put her down. Even nappy change, she will throw her temper, flip here and here, cry here and there.. wow.. can faint one lor.. dont know what to do with her..

lip balm? no recommendation huh? haha.. i think i need to go down isetan cosmetic counter and ask one by one liao.. haha
 
over the weekend & this morning, 3 aunties mistaken Jovan for a girl although he's all dressed in blue. i think it's due to his hair. i have no courage to trim his hair myself. any recommendation for places to bring Jovan for his haircut? preferably in the west or central.

Mine also.. cry very loud during nappy change. he just refuse to stay still. Give him toy, sing to him.. did everything i can think of. Still he flips and crawl away from me. Every changing session is like wrestling with him.

Lip Balm:
I usually use neutrogena. Never use those colour ones before.. heh heh

There's this place suntec which cuts kids hair. Near the toys R Us..
Else I know VivoCity Toys R us also have hair cutting service for kids.

Re Co-sleeping: thanks for sharing all your experiences. I think I'll try the monitor again tonight and see how it goes. Esp since I'm on leave tomorrow. If its still bad, I'll try him sleeping on a mattress on the floor.

Poissons: Haha. =) Ethan's birthday is the 9th Nov - thats 2 weeks time! Yikes! He was really apprehensive at first and only became more confident when I placed the "A-B-C" foam mat on my entire living room area permanently. Then he progressed really fast cos Ethan is very clever, he know Marble is very hard and will be painful if he falls down so he rather crawl. Once he got more confident, I put his shoes on and took him for walks around my condo holding 1 hand. Now he LOVES his shoes! I will sit on the floor near the door with his shoes next to me and he will walk very fast to me and sit in my lap for me to put on his shoes! So cute! Oh, but do get a good pair with good support for his ankle cos the last thing you want is a twisted ankle when they are still getting used to walking. My mom's friends bought an adidas pair for Ethan & my mom just gave him another baby Nike pair. The fit has to be very snug or else their feet easily pops out and they may slip. That's just my experience. Think your MIL was observing me putting Ethan's shoes on & was commenting that it was too small. haha.

Ethan ALWAYS drools alot. Me & hubby are always musing that no one can get to see his nice outfit cos of the bib he wears. Now its worse cos he is teething (3rd & 4th bottom teeth coming out).

I also think its a passing phase but no harm in showing him how you greet other babies too! I always say "hello", smile and wave. Garreth was ok with Ethan what. Very friendly. =)

Kittybride: No prob! Glad you, hubby & chloe enjoyed your 1st trial.

Mambobb: Don't worry. I'm sure there will be other opportunities! Think Sharron is organizing a trial now. Sorry, now experience with lip balm leh...If you're interested in lip gloss, I recommend MAC. Its cheaper than other cosmetic brands & there's lots of shades to choose from. Another thing I like about MAC is that for every 6 empty/used items, you can recycle & exchange for a free lipstick! Good savings! haha.

Catherine: There's this chain of hairdressers for children. Forgot their name but they have many branches at Suntec (near Toys R Us), at Vivo(in toys R us) and United Square (Level 1 near the taxi stand). Haircut costs $18 and they sterilise their equipment & have small shavers for use on small heads. haha. There's also a balloon/sweet for the kid after the haircut & small TVs to distract babies.
 
Mummies, thanks for your feedback and advices. Realised that it's really not easy teaching and raising a kid.

aye, dun mind my MIL ah, she's a child care teacher so she's quite sharp and particular abt anything on bbs/kids. I also get quite a fair share of comments from her on my boy, used to it liao..haha.

Sharron: How's the lessons at Tanglin mall? For the level 3 class at HF, they had 2 set-ups for the kids that are rotated every 2 weeks. Dun think I'll sign up, rather bring my boy to playgym. =)

L used to bite them, still does it sometimes! Like Ethan, he will bring his shoes to me before we go out. He loves his shoes! Maybe the shoes are uncomfortable thats why Joseph hates them? u can try different brands? L is using pediped.

L will stretch out his hands( like handshake) to other babies n adults. but it depends on his mood n whether he likes the other party.

aiyo..your gal is freshed after the class? my boy totally knocked out and we have to bring him to a coffee place to pat him sleep cos' he hates to be in the pram. Damn jialat, he keeps wanting us, more like my MIL (he bullies her!) to carry when we were shopping around..duno how to make him kwai kwai sit in there.

I'm still hear. Just been a little busy organising Luis's birthday....it is slowly mushrooming out of control!! First it was just gonna be a small family dinner, then a small family BBQ...now its all over the place! (hubby went and ordered a suckling pig...and peking duck..) I'm doing everything myself including the food. I don't like catering much and not really enough people for catering. So I'm making Spanish paella and cupcakes for the party too!! (just want to shoot myself in the head now)
Then I have my older boys sitting their SA2 exams so we are spending a lot of time doing revision!

Hope to join you on one of the trial classes when you next go to tanglin mall.

Oh and keep us updated on the next high tea session!
