(2007/11) November MTBs

lazykat: I intend to bring dried fruits, baby biscuits, bread (buy in HK daily), some pigeon ready to eat stuff. Actually, I think if the restaurant has an acceptable std, then it's ok to feed them, cos they are tots liao.
Any other things I can bring?
Is water safe in HK?

Poissons: Cant worry too much. Things like biting and pushing and hitting are the most common 'accidents' at cc Tots class to be exact. so, just choose a school u think is good for G and send at a time u r ready. I also worry or think about it sometimes, but think no way out. Haha... let them fight it out, unless u r sending him in at 31 months, which means he can understand and do what u say

k@ye: so anxious? natural writing will emerge when they are 4 - 5 years old. Drawing from young will help them write. which means if the child draws more/ starts drawing earlier, they are more confident of writing.
Writing is the final stage in EC literacy. Comprehening, talking comes 1st, and it's natural.
That said, if u practise writing with her, then she'll also write faster. It's uo to the parent.

missA:ya planned but seems like it has been raining for these few days so we decided nt to la.....
can bring distilled water ma.
hayley also never drink distilled etc when she go bkk or hkg le.....so far nothing
happy.gif

ladies......btw mineral water cannot boil one le....got mineral residue inside....if boil may hv chemical reaction le.

missA:airplane travelling~the best time for them to travel is their nap time
happy.gif
cos during take off u can give them milk then inflt they can zzzzz till hopefully landing
happy.gif

Hayley's so far oki......and there's once she sleeps thru till we hv to force her to wake up.Tat time she was already 1yr old

hihi.. popping by since sometimes.. hee.

i have been to few childcare to explore as need to put my gal at childcare in 2 months time.

poisson: Learning vision at MOE building only accept MOE staff but unsure abt the biopolis because quite a distance from bus stop if dun drive so just gave up the idea. learning charges ard $609 for full day and $545 for half day and LSH charges $888 before govt subsidy & gst.

michviv do u know why ur colleague said learning vision no good ah? cos my hubby prefer learning vision @ Surbana One (bukit merah) than LSH tho i prefer LSH. cos when i was at LSH, there were so many students, and was told that there are all together approx 120++ students in the centre.
my fren who is in childcare line told me principal in LSH very good ut superb busy, difficult to catch her. and the curriculum there is better.

anyone has any counter with Montessori? I am keen at Montessori @ dawson place but it was a very very small centre. michviv u have any idea? hee think u very good at evaluating..

Hi mummies

quick qns. are your kiddos holding their own milk bottle when drinking from it? this qns hit me suddenly when I was feeding kicia.

kiros is still being placed on our lap and bottle held by us. wonder if its unusual.

Smile, thanks! Coz hor, i m left handed mah... n i think Claire also left handed lor... I m just worried that the teachers in sch will force her to use her right hand to write! So, i need to know when they will start writing..

Coz being left handed, always kena alot of problem.. Like learning the strokes of chinese characters always got scolded by the teachers for the wrong way to write....

Pig, Claire can hold her own bottle but she LAZY and wants us to hold for her!

Ladies, check with u all... My Mum just called me and told me that Claire cant sleep coz she was like coughing & sounded like got phelgm. The PD said no phelgm when they bought her to see him... So hor, can Claire apply the adults vicks to sooth the cough?

K@ye,

any cherry rub or the kiddo type? adult one dont knw suitable boh lei. if no kiddo one t tis hour, maybe can apply on her soles and put on socks for her. or apply on a piece of hanky and place near her.

PD ever suggest sleeping on side will help with the cough.

Hi Pig, thanks... Will let my Mum know. So worrying, just wanna fly over & bring her home immediately...

I think i will tell my Mum to send her to the PD again tmr if want to hv a piece of mind.

Cindy,
Trishelle looks so lovely and she has nice double eyelids! *envy envy*
Both my girls dun hv... haiz... think it's like the inner double eyelids, cannot see one... haiz... too bad, inherit from dad :p

Ladies,
i agree with Weishy, mineral water cannot boil one leh... whenever overseas, will always try to get distilled water, use it direct and also for boiling (to get hot water)... if can't find distilled will go for spring water usually...

pig,
B holds her bottle herself... but most of the time, she will lie down on one of our lap but hold the bottle herself... she's actually quite late in holding her own bottle, doing tat only after 1 yr... i recall my elder gal, at 9 mths already holding her own bottle!

missA,
looks like A has the potential to be big sister leh.. so, quick quick, give her another brother or sister to take care!

k@ye,
think applying cherry rub on the sole of her feet and covering it up with socks will help... there's another thing which i can't recall wat's it called, it's something that you drip onto a cloth/hanky and hang it ard the cot/bed that will help relieve her breathing if got blocked nose...

mummies, A will be a big sis in Aug when my cousin's baby is born. Most of her stuff will also be given to little cousin.

Thanks for the lesson in the different kind of water.

MM, weishy, This is the 1st flight for A, guess she'll be too overwhelm to KO in the plane. I worry she does not suck on the pacifier cos sometimes she just gam the pacifier and dun suck.

piggy, I visited seedling @ dawson, the teachers din dare to show me around and ask me to put my name in a book & they'll call me, it's been nearly 6 mths and I receive no calls from them. I wont trust centre that does not allow visits citing it will disturb the children.

pig, A holds her own bottle many months ago, shd be when she was <10 mths old. We put her on the bed lying on a pillow. She does not like us to hold her esp rock her to sleep.

k@ye, hope Claire get well soon. I use saline spray to clean A's block nose. My hubby lugi disgusting, he uses his mouth to suck out her mucus!

missA:ya probably, but can try to tell her b4 hand b4 boarding and let her know u're taking the flt and must behave and be nice.Doesnt need to sleep though.BUt water during take off and landing's a must.DUn forget her favorite toys/books/dvd player etc.....so many stuffs right :p,i bring loooooo :p.
I'm afraid she cant sleep well in bali so maybe her bedsheets or pillow case????

YA can use saline...adult vicks....maybe just a little?
SALUTE ur HUBBY!!!!!!!!!!

thank u plim!

Kaye, hope c is better today. She be home soon!

Missa, my nephew is with seedlings at dawson. He loves it. In fact, he already had a space at st james but told his mom he wanted to continue with seedlings. Hmmm.

Pig, travis still don't wanna holster his own bottle too. Whenever its milk time, he just find a soot to lie down and expect to be served. Haha. If no serve, he rather not drink.

Sigh mommies, travis is down with viral infection. Vomitted out all his food taken him. Gave him pedialyte, after visiting the pd, middle of the night, just sit up to vomit out the pedialyte! Worrying. Sigh.

pig07:
Isaac is lazy till now, he doesn't hold his own bottle while drinking milk. Wonder when will he learn? When he holds the bottle he won't finish the milk.

How are you coping with 2 kids? Is it manageable or a nightmare? no.2 good bb?

Cindy:
Congrats!!

piggypiggy:
Which childcare do you think it's good? I have not go around but thinking of putting Isaac to half day child care when he is 2yrs old, so will need to look around soon.

I've been to Carpe Diem at Teck Whye, the teachers seem nice and etc but I don't like to see the boys nake while queuing to go for bath. Is it normal? Wonder how they bath in other child care?

cindy:hummmm maybe better keep him with ur parents or ILs first since u just got ur newborn home?????just suggesting la...play safe mah

piggypiggy:I found it very strange that all my ex-colleagues did not put their children at Learning Vision@Biopolis. This was 3 years ago but from what I recall they mentioned that it was overpriced, and the teachers & the curriculum was not that good. I'm not sure if things have changed since then.

I took a look at Seedlings Montessori from the outside but I found it very cramp also. Didn't even bother to arrange a formal visit. Maybe cos I'm biased as I don't favour the montessori method and prefer more structured curriculum.

I wanted to take a look at Odyssey learning centre @Alexandra but the cost is prohibitive! Very Very ex!!! But that said, its because they have a very small teacher:student ratio.

I like LSH's literature based curriculum. I have also met the principal twice. She is very good & patient. Read that she was one of 3 who won the president's award for early childhood education last year. Though the centre has a lot of children, I don't feel that its too cramp.

pig: Ethan holds his own bottle. Sometime around 11-12 months old, he refused to let us hold for him already.

Have since trained E to sleep by himself when he naps and at night. Last step is to wean him off the pacifier...=)

Matt's been holding his bottle since quite young. I think maybe after 7 months. So long until I forget already. I think it's a gd thing to train them. He also weaned off pacifier in Dec last year in a short period of 1 week (luckily). The only issue I have with him now is to train him to sleep on his own. Cos we been letting him sleep with us cos of the winter. now he's just stuck. Once he falls asleep, I put him in his cot. He is usually ok until middle of night. Will wake up and stand up in the cot and refust to sleep until I carry him or bring him to bed with us. We only had 2 nights of success with him waking up in the cot. But luckily, we still got 6 mths to train him until the new bb comes. Want to get him out of our bed before that, else he will think it's cos of the new bb that Mummy is kicking him out of bed.

Thanks ladies for the advice. Just called my Mum to check on Claire. Mum says she is ok but its strange that when she sneezed, no muscus from the nose but she teared instead. In the background, i can hear Claire talking n being her usual self.. So i think she shd be alright.

Rachel, can u imagine if its a line of naked adult men queue to bath! :p

I think its ok as long as they dun catch a chill or what lah.. That will b my concern!

Michviv & Tinkabel, i accidentally weaned Claire off the pacifier when i forgot to bring it to my Mum's place, she din really make alot of noise coz she s not a hardcore pacifier addict.

She is willing to hold her milk bottle when she was dumped into the infant care when my Mum is sick.

Now, i got to train her to sleep by herself.

Tinkabel Haha, all the best to your moving matt plan. We tried n failed n travis is still stuck with us on our bed.

Hi cactus,
hope everything goes well for u and little moomoo..
have faith and be hopeful okie??

Hi mummies,
talking abt childcare..
anyone heard of brighton montessori??
any feedback??
i also planning to put A into a school b4 moomoo comes along...haiz..
but I feel bad to put him in a school so young leh..
now he takes 2 short naps daily, but if i put him in school then perhaps only 1 long nap, dunno if he can adapt..
plus we always have quite a hard time feeding him his meals..
in school he has to feed himself right?? dunno if he can manage...haiz...
lots of worries...
how how??

missA, u got my mail?

Fushiastar, glad u like the clip!

piggy, me too didnt hv a good impression of LV when i was searching for school for my son 2yrs ago. now i m nt sure if they hv improved.

Weishy, my colleague told me that he tried to contact Andrew yesterday but cant get him leh... Andrew not free>?

MissA, i visited seedling montessori@ dawson once when teacher was quite free and showed me ard and the other time when most of them are occupied but they still showed me ard and ask me to make another appt to visit so they can show me ard again. I coincidentally saw one gal in seedling uniform in the lift and ask her dad how is the childcare and the reply was very positive. i am keen in this cos walking distance. lazy mummy..

rachel, i am not sure which one is good and more suitable le. cos my fren told me it depends on what you want because each centre has their own teaching method.

Michviv thanks! ya ya LSH's principal got few awards and she participate in duno what thing (my fren told me but i cant recall ha!). it is in my list but my husband dun favour it. haiz.
You should go to visit the Odyssey, i went there once and it was superb spacious and i am very impressed. 2 storey somemore. very good environment. very new and very clean. But too expensive. And the staff very friendly also. The principal also called me ask me whether wan me to reserve a seat cos only left 2 vacancy. go go see see look look no harm :p

pig my gal hold her bottle since quite ard 9 month cos i dun like to hold bottle for her. now she got new pattern, when she wants to drink milk, she dun wan me to open up the milk bottle cap, she will open and take out the pacifier then put the teat into her mouth by herself if not she will get angry and dun drink.

cindy, my gal got intestine infection ( i called it stomach flu) she drink milk/ eat porridge/even drink water , throw out everything + diarrhoe, doctor advise to give her isomil to stop diarrhoe and can only feed her rice water/ isomil/ glucose/barley every 2 hourly. take care!

sorry for the long post :p

wow so many posts to catch up!

ASHM, congrats! do u have any cravings now? i can try to bring it for this sat's PDS party. hehehe

Cactus, pls rest well. so relieved & happy to see that post's ending. Dun walk so much har...

Cindy, baby T is a replica of Travis! but she has beautiful double eyelids!

i made some progress wrt to Jovan's sleep routine. now we dun rock or cradle him to sleep. every evening, when i see tat he's tired. i'll ask him "R u tired? Do u wan to ong ong (sleep)?" if he's willing to sleep, he'll walk to the kitchen door, point to the milk tin & say "milk milk". after his milk bottle is passed to him, he'll wave goodnite to everyone in the house, walk to his bedroom & sit next to his cot. i put him in his cot & he drinks his milk there. it's so different from his old routine when i rock or cradle him to sleep (almost like forcing him to sleep). now he's getting too heavy and long for me to cradle comfortably - 10.9kg & 80cm. btw he has a habit of drinking milk halfway & dump the bottle in my hand, then roll or walk ard in his cot, then drink milk and finnally sleep. mummies, r ur kids behaving this way too? and it still take sometime for him to fall alseep. somedays it takes as long as 1hr. on good days, it takes only 15min. issit normal har?

Hi Mummies,
Seems like many can hold their own bottle.. perhaps i will start this noon for Kiros. maybe on lap and we let him hold the bottle, or on bed and we hold for him.

Hi K@ye,
If she teared then could be blocked and not runny nose.

Hi Rachel,
Er, this second baby hor not as easy to take care compared to kiros. maybe cos kiros been too good thats why now when taking care of kicia that i find Kicia 'naughtier' and harder to manage when actually she could just be behaving like any other baby. She is 3 months liao. Confinement nanny left saturday and she is back in my hands again.

Hi Tinkabel,
seems like Matt is progressing very quickly though he and kiros are borned same day.

pig07,
Not really la. Matt's not considered fast. I know a few kids is developing speech faster than him or started walking faster than him. But I guess each kid has their own timeline for development. Dun hv to be too frantic, just be patient. Like Matt, he still can't drink very well with straw, still spills all over. I sometimes almost give up but still trying to make him learn. But he is imitating people's action or words. So we hv to really careful. So funny, that day after putting toner on my face, I pat my face dry. He saw and followed me to pat his face. Haha...

Pig, yalor.. she tear coz she was taking the nose medication. So now, my Mum dun let her take the medication... Usually i try not to let her take medication unless its very jialat~!

Tinkabel, ya.. Must be really careful.. I remember some time back, i utter the word, "FxxK" coz i slipped and fell... My hubby told me that Claire was uttering the word liao... So now, i m cutting down on the amount of "F" words used!

k@ye: Hope C gets well soon. Great to hear that C has been weaned off the pacifier. E still needs it during nap time, helps him calm down. If he doesn't have it, he'll cry. Let me see if I can wean him off gradually starting this weekend.

piggypiggy: haha...now you have tempted me to take a look at Odyssey. Have to ask my hubby if he's willing to part with that much $$$. Especially since we also have a maid. Hope your gal gets well soon. Remember to feed her rehydration fluid (eg: Pedialyte).

Now I feel very busy cos I'm trying to start my own business whilst my current job is getting busier. Thank goodness for the cost cutting so I don't need to travel so much. Blessing in disguise. =) Want to get my business up and running before number 2 is made later in the year.

k@ye,
hope C recovers soon and back to her garang self again! i really love to see her pout her lips! :D

aiyoh, C is fast in picking up words... my C still at 'mum mum' and 'mammaa' stage leh... so sian no new words coming out of her. she also very slow (or shy) to try to utter new words except her own made up baby language which can be so cute & funny at times! :D

tinkabel,
agree wif you; all babies have their own timeline and development milestones. i've resigned to this thinking after seeing how 'slow' chloe is with her milestones but still, she reaches them in her own time! now she's sprouting her 5th tooth when the rest of the todds have either had all their milk teeth out or sprouting molars but mine? well... in her own time lah. :D

rachel,
1.5months to go... gan cheong or not?
hehehee... i'm still contemplating about the delivery, a bit xin yang yang wana try natural but the horror birth stories puts me off... and for C-Sect, yet choose date! argh... everythg v lazy wana take action and do!

pig07,
my gal started to hold her own bottle around 8mths but then decided she wanted to be fed... but since she hit 1y/o, we will tell her to hold her own bottle, esp the last feed before bed (she takes it in our bed). sometimes if we try to held the bottle up a little she will quickly release her hand and expect us to continue feeding. but i will take her hand back to the bottle... so after a few rounds, she gets the hint that she has to do some 'work' to have milk! :D

catherine
gald to know that you managed to give J his sleep routine. it's so much better for you, no nid to rock/carry him liao
happy.gif
his pre-sleep pattern with the milk bottle is almost the same as my gal's; drink half way, pull out and wana pass it to me (waste milk everytime!!) but i try to coax her to drink more. some times she's willing but most times she will turn away and try to find her pacifier and suckle it - irritatingly waving BOTH her hands and making that irritating sound that she's had ENUF of milk already! me n hb really bo pian with her pattern... so spoilt!! grrr....

re: PDS last lesson this Sat
we'll not be going coz hb got other commitment on Sat, so we'll be doing make up lesson on Fri mrng instead. you ladies/todds enjoy the last session n the feasting ya!

Michviv, wow.. another entreprenur in the making! Claire prefers to play with hankies more than the pacifier so its easier for me to wean her off...

Kitty, Claire is good at picking up anything that is bad! She even purposely cough to let me hear how phelgmy she is!

Now i m just worried that she might not want me when i pick her up at the airport.

kittybride:heee u so funny kakkakakka.

pig07:ya hayley also can hold her bottle quite fast like 9 months or so....since 12 months she hv been drinking from straw bottle ,hassle free for us :p

hee so fast ur kicia 3 months already
happy.gif

K@ye:wow claire really those garang type le!!!!

Weishy, we call her, "Dun know how to die" in hokkien...Hubby insists that she takes after me but actually i think she takes after my MIL.

wahaha... k@ye, yup, i know wat u mean.
i also scold C using tat same line each time she pulls a stunt!

last nite she again try to jump/run on the sofa then bend over to pick up the phone which we placed on a lower side table next to the sofa. she almost topple over (1st time) and her legs were hanging up half way while hb managed to catch her.

she bruised her left cheek (i thk it hit the side table). she cried like crazy (guess she was stunned as well coz of the fall) while hb tried to pull her up n console her. but me, i stood nearby n scolded her upside down and even wanted to smack her butt for that stunt but hb stopped me - say i so fierce!

but then, not even 10mins after she stopped crying, she tried that same stunt AGAIN!!! wah piang... really "em zai si!!!" - and this time round, kena smack buttocks by me! muahaha.... must teach her 'hard' lesson then she'll learn! (alamak, i sound like the evil step-mother!!!)

dreamer - thanks!
happy.gif

weishy - we can have early lunch say at 1130am since Jones the Grocer is only 2 doors away from Gogo...
happy.gif

Catherine - Thanks! No cravings now leh but get hungry easily...heeheehee...so I am eating like every 2-3hrs... I am going to bring mini cheese cakes and chicken pies and michviv is bringing curry puffs on Sat...
happy.gif

Michviv - Good for you!! Do let us know when all is set and maybe we can be your clients...
happy.gif

Kittybride - Oh so cant see you guys on Sat then... maybe we can meet for coffee after you give birth...at least when you finish your confinement.

Cindy / Kittybride - What FM do you intend to give to your new borns? I have a brand new big tin of Enfagrow 2 (if I dont remember wrongly) and I can give it to you if you are using the same brand. It was given to me by Parkway Group a few months back as sample and I am using NAN for Ash... the expiry date is 2010. Let me know ya...

Brushing Teeth

Mummies - have you started to let your kiddos to brush their teeth? Using the normal baby toothbrush or the one that you can stuck it on your finger to brush? Do they brush every morning and night? Thanks!

Ashm, yes travis brushes his teeth on his own, hmmm. morning yes but night, Haha occasionally cause he be taking milk after that, so a bit redundant, but will try to instill the need for brushing at night too. Now every morning when he gets up and takes a walk ard the house, he will do the brush teeth action and bring me to get his brush and toothpaste. Haha.

Fm, yes I will intro enfa series if she can take it Haha, so uu can pass to jeff on sat, or if kitty wants it, u can pass to her too. I am fine.

Thank u for your wishes dreamer, missed your earlier post.

ASHM,

you can pass the milk to cindy coz intend to give my boy either similac or NAN or even S26 GOLD... not sure yet. hv to see what FM the hospital feed him after delivery.

btw, how is NAN ah? i know some mommies change to NAN from Friso but later changed back to Friso again. dun know which is good liao... headache!

Cindy,
how's enfalac? heaty or not? stool is soft?
i was told friso is closer to mom's milk but a little heaty, hence the stool either a bit hard to gor lee type.

re: brush teeth
i used the finger brush on C when she started sprouting her 1st teeth. she was amused by it at first, then it become irritating and now she refuse it oredi (even when i sang the 'this is the way we brush our teeth...' to her).

i got her the kiddy toothbrush 2 mths back. similarly, new 'toy' to try out but now she's refusing it completely! once i bring the toothbrush closer, she will turn her head away liao and even bury her face on my shoulder!

only managed to brush the lower tooth and upper ones have to FORCE her to turn her head towards me and pry open her mouth - usually end up with her crying. dun thk is a good idea coz this makes things worst - she ends up hating it even more!

nite time, usually drink milk n wana sleep liao... if bring her to brusth teeth, another drama! sigh...

cindy, envy your Travis so 'dong shi'...

Ashm,
Just want to let you know that Friday confirmed I going... so see u at Gogobambini at 10.30am Dempsey. talk later so busy at work.
and congrats =)

Cindy - Ok i shall pass the FM to Jeff on Sat.

Kittybride - I have been using NAN for Ash when he was 3 months and so far so good. I gave him NAN HA 1 & 2 and NAN Pro 3 now which can last him to 3 years old. His stool is also normal, no constipation or hard stool. He loves to drink water so I guess thats why he has no poo poo problem.......

Brush Teeth - The nanny will brush his teeth in the morning and sometimes he refuse to open his mouth or will bite her if he is not happy... As for night, the last feed is usually at about 10ish so he fall asleep right after the milk and hence cannot brush for him then.... We also afraid that he will throw up if we were to brush his teeth after milk. He is not like Travis so gwai gwai bring the toothbrush to mummy...
happy.gif

Teeth brushing:ya hayley also brushes her own but of cos nto clena enough la(day/night)....it think all these if do daily sure can
happy.gif
and need loads of praises!!!!now she knows!!!!

cos we all clapped when she poop so she claps when her poop comes out too kakkakakakak

ASHM:hey can use the nice tasting toothpaste :p,i using FIRST TEETH TOOTHPASTE got natural appe/banana taste :p
K@ye:hehheheheh but i like claire style :p
