(2007/03) March 2007 MTBs

astro,
no lah. we all think she's v steady
happy.gif

haha.. SQ: hmm.. that wink hor. let me see how i can interpret it.. wink to astro means,

telling astro:
1. bbgirl is clever
2. same as 1 above.. PLUS hinting astro's slower ?

haha :p

haha.... the power of the written word. never thot of #2. but that does lead me to think of #3 as well:

1. bbgirl is clever
2. same as 1 above.. PLUS hinting astro's slower ?
3. so is SQ (slower)
happy.gif

think QQ went off for a while liao.

astro, it's one of those mornings with just you and me again. the rest of the mummies either siam4 us or buay tahan us
happy.gif

SQ: it's ok one. we enjoy ourselves can liao.. sometimes i think i like pple talking non stop in the forum mah.. entertaining to read.. no?

astro,
i dun wanna debate about #2 and #3. so depressing when i think of it. haha...
happy.gif

dunno if it's entertaining to read. or mummies are getting frustrated with the babbling. but i usually get too engrossed when i'm excited about sth. everybody who knows me knows about this fact. the excitement and enthusiasm just light up!
happy.gif

GrandMa Lor Soh told astro two stories just now.. interesting.. hmm. let's liven up this morning with a game of 'what the moral behind the story" guessing game! :p

STORY 1
"there was this storey abt a mother who loves her boy n spoil him...givin in to his whims n fancies.. lettin him do watever hewanted...showerin love on him...all the time...buying him expensive stuff...

then the boy grew up into a rebellious young man who has to get watever he wants

the man was caught for murder one day n sent to jail. he was to be beheaded. his mum went to visit him in jail n was deveastated

she cried n cried n say...y did u kill the man? u r my oni son..now i'm goin to lose u...

the man asked the mum to come nearer to him..so he can whisper in his ear...when she did, he bit off her ear!!!

and told her... u were the one who gave me everything n i was brought up to think i can have everything. i killed him because he refused to give me wat i wanted. "

What's ur interpretation of the moral behind this story??

STORY 2

"another story on 2 mothers snatchin their baby

one day 2 mothers came in front of a judge..each claiming this beautiful baby belong to her.

so the judge said..ok..now u 2 each hold one arm of the baby and pull...whoever gets him means u love him the most and must have him by all means, thus she will be declared the mother.

so the 2 started pulling...1 started pulling with all her might... she must get the baby... the other pulling with restraint... and finally let go..

so the judge gave the baby to the mother who let go of the bb...

it's not fair! says the winner... i love the bb more. i hung on to him..i got him... she let him go!!!

Moral of the story??

=====================

Done.. what's ur take on both?? SQ, start with u :p

SQ: AH BISH! thanks for the 'flattering' opinioin u have of astro hor... *sigh*

*laments* for all my hot air.. i am still deemed as slow.. *sigh*

My mum ah! she teaching Teng how to press doorbells ah!! haha.. so cute.. coz she always bring him downstairs.. come up sure stop.. wun open the door immediately.. see teng reaching for door bell.. she will guide his hands to it.. and now.. teng wil just reach for doorbelss.. and very happy to see it.. wah baing.. he wld be one of those pranksters who ring ur doorbells and disappear in future!! haha.. but still good fun. :p

astro,
you don't set a trap for me to fall into ah. i just din wanna comment on it oni.

your story?
1st story: i choose to think this reinforces my concept about discipline

2nd story: it's a scary thot. i wonder if i will let go of the bb... umph... another long story

SQ: huh? what trap?? just an innocent request for ur honest opinion of astro only mah..*beam*.. heehee.

so.. what's the moral of the stories? same or different.. in ur opinion? and if combined the stories togeher.. what insight do u have?
happy.gif

haha... still got 5 mins. so refreshed my page.

ladysol,
not steady lah. i feel that i'll be responsible if i have a spoilt brat. and i can't leave with that on my conscience

=================================================
Be careful when you SMS...
A True Story:
This lady has changed her habit on the hand phone after her handbag was stolen. Her handbag which contained her mobile, credit card, purse etc. was stolen.

Twenty minutes later when she called her hubby, telling him what had happened, her hubby says 'I've just received your SMS asking about our Pin number and I've replied a little while ago.'

When they rushed down to the bank, the bank staff told them all the money was already withdrawn. The pickpocket had actually used the
stolen hand phone to sms 'hubby' in the contact list and got hold of the pin number.
Within 20 minutes he had withdrawn all the money from the bank account.

Moral of the lesson:
Do not disclose the relationship between you and the person in your
contact list. Avoid using names like Home, Honey, Hubby, Sweetheart, Dad, Mum etc...... and very importantly, when sensitive info is being asked
thru SMS, CONFIRM by calling back.

hi shopping queen, I used CIO on Kira b4, was working for a while and then she cried again. Now I just bring her to bed and trying to stick to routine daily, she is sleeping better. I read a book from ELizabeth Pantley on ' sleeping without crying' and After reading that I have decided not to implement CIO. It is hard to bring her to bed each time but this will pass and there will be a time where she doesn't even want us to hug them to sleep anymore and we'll miss it. But like what QQ says, every child is unique and shd use various methods accordingly.

Today I'm super moody. somehow I think I'm burnt out. I got ill twice this month. BF is very tiring and taking alot from my body. Hubby is always cooking for us but leave the kitchen in a renovation state after that. Neigbour always come over with her heavy perfume and make up and carry Kira. Kira's hands always smell of her perfume and even after bathing still can't get rid of the smell. I don like the idea of her putting her hands full of perfume in her mouth. My hubby finds this appalling but never utters a word. And I have to be the bad guy again. It's 5am here and I'm still thinking abt this thing on how I can talk to my neigbour about it without sounding mean. This neigbour comes over so often, talks loudly, rings the bell. Am I so free, nothing to do, sit around and chat with her??? Do all mummies have nothing to do??? Babies are so easy to take care of right? Household chores can be done on its own right? 15 hours of work plus, household chores, baby and sleepless nights, all just peanuts right? No naps, no friends to talk to, no going out, just work, come home, baby, bf, washing, ironing, fall sick...is this life...plus annoying neighbour with heavy perfume and make up...aaaaaahhhhh! Help me, God!

Evelyn: long time no see.. take care.. can understand ur moodiness..
happy.gif

i am the straight forward type.. and in my life time 'offended' many people.. i would just politely.. REPEAT my pt that:

1. Kira is sensitive to perfumes
2. I am tired and would like some rest for the following weeks.
if all else fails.. i would put a sign and hang in on my door

" DO NOT DISTURB,,, I AM BUSY!"

tell ur hb that if going to be messy.. then DUN cook.. coz it is so tired to clean up after him!!!!

Mummies

I think this forum is a miracle for my life. I feel so much calmer now, reading the archive. I was so fed up and upset earlier...tks mummies!

KIra understands both 'no' and 'nein'! She would turn and look at me when I say no to her, and if I raise my voice a little, she will stop what she's doing and come to me with a smile. If I look angry, sometimes, she cries but only a while. It amazes me how smart babies are, already knowing the implications behind different facial expressions and various pitch of our voice. My uncle never spank his kids and yet they respect him more than their mother who hit them with a cane at times. I think respect is what we want to have than fear from our children, or not? I'm not sure if I would ever hit Kira with a cane but I try not too. It might be a faster remedy and easier way to discipline but not always the best one. I used the idiom, spare the rod and spoil the child but now speaking to some people here, I realised that there are other alternatives, just that more patience is required. I'm reading a book abt brain development and children. It mentions that children usually don remember things which happens before 3 years of age. Unless they had undergone some traumatic experiences. I can still remember my mum and my dad hitting me rather vividly and my dad not spending time with me when I was a teenager and so on. I do not wish Kira to have the same memories in her head. I want her to experience love. I do not want her to fear me but respect me and understand why she isn't allowed to do certain things. and I do not want her to see that her parents solve problem with means of violence by hitting for e.g. She needs to grow in an environment which is loving, calm and with much understanding! I hope I can meet all these...hopefully I won't freak out!

astro

thanks! sob sob! I really needed those words!

I spoke to my hb b4, but the problem is I have no time to cook and I'm losing weight then if I don eat properly...due to bf...so often I wanted to give it up...sob, sob...so sad, you know!

PAGING MEJO AND HUAJING...

Though Teng is recovering.. but nose still slight runny.. mucus becoming sticky kind. mum says he is recovering. but i think dun risk it lah.. tomorrow teng can't join u gals at playgym liao..

hmm.. sunday maybe got chance.. most likely going to marina parade playgym.. at 4 - 5pm
happy.gif

astro

I think I'll have to talk to the this neigbour since she never get the hint so far, like what you say, need to be direct!

evelyn,
long time no see.
i was thinking, if bf is emotionally and physically consuming, have u consider stopping?
dun forget Happy Mummy = Happy Bb = Happy Husb = happ Family
happy.gif

Hi Evelyn,

Your neighbour also funny leh. is she a housewife too? if she is how cm she still need to wear such a thick perfume around....heee....

Evelyn: just u and me huh? ok .. let's yakk a bit.. hopefull my self deprecating humour can cheer u up a bit
happy.gif

ya.. i subscribed to the idom also spare the rod.. and difinitely the child is spoilt.. but ironically i see the wielding the rod and striking the child as a loss of control on the part of the parents (chiam. going to get shot for this again..aiya.. just type lah..)..

children deserved their rights also.. how can u teach children the values of respect, tolerance and patience if u just cannot take it and use the rod as the easy way out??

too many times.. in our profession, we see young adults turned rebellious.. towards authority and parents. their fault? yes to a certain extent.. but certainly more fault on their parents.. while this might seemed harsh and hard on ourselves.. but in reality. the truth hurts. they say in chinese.. good advice is hurting on the ears.. yeap.. and introspection (n reflection) is something that many dun practice regularly.. when we blocked out the process of reaching into ourselves and asking qns AT ourselves.. we are no longer able to come to a realisation.. and have the resultant courage (and renewed hope) to persue and change a situation..first we got to admit.. what went wrong (with ourselves) then we talk abt changing it.. no pt want to change something but still defensive over the old practice.. then might as well go sleep.. dun waste the time pondering over nothing..

hmmm.. that's me.. my pt.. children need a very delicate balance of love.. both 'harsh' and 'tender' .. to thrive.. that's why they say educating a child is hard.. dunno how many years to grow a tree.. and dunno how many years again to shape a person..

think.. read somewhere. think on Babycentre.. that an infant.. when born has million of connections.. the medical jargon.. something starting with 's' when borned.. and those connections which are not stimulated often in early infancy are lost and never replaced.. this i believe. all of us know..

think not just to intelligence per say.. i think there are a lot of values that we want to incalcuate in our bbs since young.. the most basic being politeness and respect..

i found this url
http://www.babycenter.com/0_developmental-milestones-understanding-words-behavior-and-co_6575.bc

i particularly like the concluding paragraph.. "If you want him to grow up to become a kind and helpful person, make sure you treat him and others that way. "

isn't this what we termed as 'modelling' in education? and that is also my guiding philosophy in life.. AND look up.. it says 24 mths - 36mths.. which means by the age of 3?? and old saying.. "the attainment of 3 years of age marks the destiny of a person".. hmmm.. something to ponder abt right?
happy.gif

Tiong

she's housewife, works part time, but still heavy perfume,I think she can't smell it herself and heavy make up. The women here are like that one, not like us so natural. I don use perfume anymore becos of Kira.

Michelle

I'm thinking of giving it up soon since she's already 8 mths plus and soon 9 in Dec . Somehow I always expect hb to be supportive but I realised that no matter how supportive he is, he still can't understand the emotional and physical stress a bf mother goes thru.

evelyn: if she STILL cannot get it.. use humour.. do the following..

1. PRint out a sign with the words " The Lady of this household is pulling her hair out over the caring of her baby and the clearing of housechores. She is seriously sleep deprived and is not in the correct frame of mind to entertain and chit chat. Pls stay far away from her. She might just come rushing at you with a cleaver if you ring the doorbell this very instant. Thank you very much!"

2. Add a clipart of mad woman with a cleaver for more impact

3. Disconnect the electricity to ur doorbell

4. Use ear plug

5. Lock the door and take the phone off the hook

following the above steps should ensure a peaceful afternoon.. if the desired results are not acheived.. pls go ahead.. and set fire to ur neighbour's house.. BURN THEM ALIVE!!! there u go.. problem solved!

astro

I agree with you. Over here on TV, they debate very often if they shd spank their kids as a ways to discipline them? They asked a group of school children if they would use the rod later as parents, interestingly or shockingly, the ones who were hit b4, said that they would use the same method as their parents whereas the others who came from families against hitting replied no!

Like you said, modelling is the key word! I hope i can make that. I'm really not sure but will have to try very hard cos my temper is rather hot! I screamed at the top of my voice today, not to kira, just on my own to release my anger otherwise, I might hang myself on the nearby tree!

Evelyn: haha. interestingly.. the conversatino that i had with my Miser long ago .. and my general observation hor.. is that if u are spanked as a child.. u wun spank ur kid coz u dun want them to go through same emotional 'tramau' like u.. vice versa.. haha.. hee. dunno which is which lah. but interestingly to know..

and hor.. pls dun thank me.. i am a helpful person by nature. the things i do for friends.. it's ok.. u just pay for my airticket to germany.. and then i can set fire to that nearby tree.. which will in turn save ur life.. !!!

really.. evelyn. u dun have to thank me for that!!! whahaha! :p

astro

I find the burn alive option very enticing;-)

I have to find out how to disconnect the doorbell, very complicated thing, and we have 5 telephones in this house, a LAN, no idea how to disconnect the whole network... best thing is most phonecalls are for my hb...can imagine how frustrated I am at times! Today, in a few hours, I'm going out with my gf, shopping for the first time after don know how many years alone without bb and hb!!! I'm not rushing home this round, he has to see how he manages it...I'm always rushing home from work, from supermarket...and once I'm home, feed bb, or prepare lunch for bb...what abt me? I don go to any gym, no exercise, no friends contact, no shopping, nothing...I really can't wait for singapore to have a life there, and my mum is there, my friends...

evelyn: so.. do it now.. mai tuo liao (Dun procastinate). set fire this very instant.. and fled to singapore!! Astro is waiting for u with open arms!

hi evelyn,
seldom see you online at this time
happy.gif

just came back from fox's sales. bought 40 pieces of clothes. hee heee... very cheap at only $2 or $3. i can't resist

astro

i realised that this forum is more or less my life now but the problem is we don have connections at times...i'm beginning to hate this place. You sure you like europe?

evelyn,
welcome back. you'll be back in a flash
happy.gif

astro,
there's so many "morale of the story". i've thot about it during lunch. told my hubby and we "discuss" about it also.

here's a short one: "there's no right or wrong in parenting. and we are not to judge each other whether we've been "good" parents or not"

my motto is always "as long as i can defend myself with a straight face, it's the "right" thing to do. who cares about what others think of us?!

evelyn: haha.. ya.. still like europe.. when in europe with miser.. we always fantanise on setting up a bed and breakfast providing chargeable internet access to the local community in the small village.. away from the hustle and bustle.. but still connected to the world.. *sigh* so idyllic.. so pretty.. :p

astro,
i went to the sale with the mentality of "ok, let's not waste my time by seeing "rubbish" on display. get in and get out in a few mins"

but i must say i'm wrong.

i mean, how wrong can you go with $2 or $3 a piece?

astro

I thought you want me to tuo...strip...haha... Okay, I'm expecting your open arms...don regret ha!

SQ

I know why you name yourself SQ now! where is fox? What did you buy, for yourself or bb?

evelyn,
ya. i'm SQ not becos i'm good in shopping. but i would do ANYthing for shopping
sad.gif

i bought 40 pieces for her. mostly rompers. v cheap lah.

only bought one short mini skirt for myself. i suspect it's the same as what the other mummies bought also. is it audrey?

this is a warehouse sale. so it's in tampines. opposite direction from where i am in the west
happy.gif

SQ: ha.. like ur last sentence ..
"as long as i can defend myself with a straight face, it's the "right" thing to do. who cares about what others think of us?!"

but hor if i put up a straight face in front of others.. then quickly turn at laugh at myself.. ehh.. can?

making sense.. lethargic afternoon..

How much do you pay for broad band in singapore? unlimited surfing?

I think I need to do the laundry now, kira getting up soon, it's 7.15am here.
