i read that article on another website too. it's interesting, cos i always thought that the baby einstein dvds were not particularly bright or captivating for babies, as compared to baby signing times where the lady is smiling, dancing, singing and showing the signs. oh well, i guess as long as we take these dvds as light entertainment once in a while for our kids and not as a substitute for actual learning, it's not so bad
happy.gif

miu66,

Agree on that count too.. so long as we dont rely totally on the dvds or vcds to teach our children.. it shouldnt be a prob.. cos having those vcds ard is really handy.. at least I can let my girl watch the vcds while i do other things... otherwise i really have no time to myself

I agree..

DVDs are something for amusement but not for educational. I read in book that still needs lots of parenting and us talking to our children to enable them to learn fast.

Hi everybody, haven't log on for a long time since my No. 2 was born in end Jun. Very busy coping with 2 babies (hee...). Thank God hubby is around to help, but sad that he's going back to US few days later (boohoo...).

Our maid is coming today, anyone got any advice for us (first timer) to share with?

kao_cheers.gif
Congrats to the mummies who's having No. 2 too.

Miu66 -pm u on something

hunniepot- gee...I know I still owe you one.

Hi Stephz,

Congrats on the birth of your 2nd one! May I know her name? We intend to plan to name our 2nd one Amelia if we have a girl..

Its ok no problem, I know you are very busy.. no need to forward the pics to me
happy.gif

<font color="ff6000">stephz</font>
congratulations!!! how are you coping? hope everything is going well, maybe you can give us some tips on how to deal with 2 kids if you have time
happy.gif

Hi Stephz
Congrats! Totally understand your feelings about your hubby going away esp now you have your 2 babies. How long will he be away from home?

My hubby going away for biz trip for 2 wks, I already feel very sad.

Really hope everything goes well for you.

Congrats, Stephz.

Ya, do share tips on how u cope with 2 kids. How does your no.1 feels about no.2?

Do take care and come chat with us here if you have the time.

yes yes Stephz, share some updates on caring for 2. Will have to manage that very soon..

Any of you have a Quinny zapp? Arghh I regretted buying a Quinny zapp and selling my maclaren. Realised it's really no good for baby to nap in it. It can't be inclined and my gal's head end up daggling around till she woke up. Muz say it's good and light to move around. Not sure it's worth the buy now.

Hi ladies,

Me 1st day on my new work place. Still quite free, so can login to chat.

Babe,
My girl already dun want to sit in the pram anymore. No point investing on one now.

Tracy,
Haha, mine too. Will only use it when going to those stroller-friendly places. N for short while only coz my gal can't keep her butt in it for long.
sad.gif

Hunni,

So envious of you ler. Get to relax b4 starting on your new job. Enjoy the Oyster Mee Sua, Crispy Chix cutlet n Smelly Toufu. Yum yum, making me hungry now. Gotta go prepare lunch now.

Congratulations Stephz!! take good care of yourself huh..

Hunnie, my girlfriends and i are planning to go to Taiwan end of this year although i went there early this year. But it is in planning stage cos i am not really willing to be apart from nixon..

I spent my national day at KK with Nixon. He was hospitalised for 3 days cos of stomach flu. Was vomitted 20 over time in a day. By the time we sent him to hospital, he was already dehydrated and low blood glucose. Was put on drip to prevent further dehydration. He was discharged on Sat but still poor appetite. Really afraid he will get dehydrated again.. refuse milk , porridge and other food.. luckily he loves yakult and i gave him some ribena... he is less active these days, just wanna lay on the bed or cuddle on mine or my mum's arms to rest... hope he will be active again like before.. really pain me to see him like tat..

<font color="ff6000">jumbo</font>
so sorry to hear abt nix's condition, poor thing
sad.gif
hope he gets better soon!

<font color="ff6000">babe</font>
i wanted to buy the quinny zapp cos i thought it looked really cool but a few friends told me abt how their kids couldn't really nap in it cos of the no-recline thing. well, i can't say i made a better choice cos i bought the maclaren volo in the end, super light (3+ kg) and convenient but also doesn't recline! still ended up using my original Graco stroller when i wanted K to nap outside. oh well, nowadays she also doesn't want to sit in the pram either, she wants to walk behind and push the stroller like me!! so we got her her own toy stroller at toys r us last week
happy.gif

hey, mommies check with you har..do any of yr bbs still cry when they wake up? hmm.. i find isaac cries most of his time when he wakes up but at times when he just feel like waking up his mood will be very good.

Jumbo.. hope by now Nixon is feeling better.. sick bbs are usually more sticky than normal days. seeking of comfort i guess..

Jumbo,

I really understand how you feel. Enya stayed in the hospital for 2 days last mth. It really takes a while to build up their health again.

Hope that Nixon feels better now. U take care too.

Hi everybody,

Life still ok tho hubby not with me, thanks to the new maid. Just that my No. 1 will stick to me and No. 2 is too young to let her take care, so still quite busy (but dun mind to drop in a while to say hi).

You may not believe it, my No. 1 was admitted to hospital the day that I went to hospital to deliver my No. 2. Got the same condition as Nixon. Due to that, my No. 1 went to stay with my in-laws after discharge, so both sisters didn't get to meet until 1 week later, which I still do not allow both to get close for a while as No. 1 still had diarrhoea then. So I scared now and got the Rotavirus jab for my No. 2.

Mummies with No. 2 - I would advise you get this jab for your newborn as it seems that it is getting common for kids to be infected with it. Our No. 1 is too old for the jab already.

Jumbo - No worries, my No. 2 is now bubbling like she used to be.

Regarding sibling rivalry, it will always be present, just that need to minimise that. So far, my No. 1 was quite ok with the No. 2.

<font color="ff6000">momyam</font>
K doesn't cry when she wakes up in the morning from her whole night's sleep, usually she'll call out for us or i will listen at her door and hear her talking to her toys BUT recently for her afternoon naps, she wakes up and will be in a really bad mood for at least another half hour. noticed yesterday after her nap, she was still yawning and fussing for the next hour, i wonder why.... dunno whether she sleeps "too much" for her nap, last few days the naps lasted for around 2 hours. last time only abt 1 hr

<font color="ff6000">stephz</font>
remember i told you my maid was supposed to come this saturday? well, i got a call from the agency this past monday saying the maid failed her medical exam in philipines. why? she is 1mth pregnant! felt a bit annoyed cos me and hb have been rushing around the last few wks trying to clear our "store" room to make space for her and hb went away for a work trip and i was nagging and nagging him to help me clear all our old things before he went, and now there is this delay! anyway, i went to the agency yesterday and decided to take a transfer maid, so she can come quickly. i know a lot of ppl say transfer maids are problematic but she seemed to be ok and oh well, i figure it's all down to luck whether you get a good maid or not. i really hope so!!

Hey Jumbo,

Shawn's having a bout of stomach flu too. We spend an evening at KK too because of his high fever. He had fever first and when it subsided, we thought he was fine and left for Perth (during national day week). In the end, he had diarrhoea and refused to eat or drink anything except for biscuits and milk during our 5 days there! we were so stressed. He's still having diarrhoea but his mood is definitely better. We have never been so happy to be back in Singapore!

The pd said that there is a stomach flu bug around, so mommies, please boost up your babies immune system.

thanks mummies for the concern.. hope he will fully recover soon..

Ruixiangmom, replenish ur boy with lot of water... take good care of urself huh

Is there any mummies can recommend any makan place with playroom inside?? Like the one we had during the birthdaybash at Globetrotter?? Wanna know more similar restaurant for us to dine in.

chenoa, think i will go to Ju Shin Jung Korean BBQ for the coming gathering with my jie-meis for my wedding.. we want it to be in the west as we all stay in the west.. Thanks huh..

welcome for more suggestion
happy.gif

here's another fun place: http://www.gogobambini.com/

It's at Dempsey Road but it's not a dinner place, more for lunch or tea. Been there a few times, my girl enjoyed herself and the older kids look like they were having a crazy good time on the big playscape. There is a separate play area for toddlers so you don't have to worry too much abt the big kids trampling on your little one
happy.gif

miu66 - you hit the jackpot! i wanted to try that place LONG LONG LONG LONG LONG time ago. but just that i dt have the opportunity, hmm dont kw what i'm busy with HAHAHA!

heard that the parking there is quite terrible, do you have any problem with that?

so anyone want to date me to go there and check out the place? *blink blink* i promise i wont bite, i wont talk so much, i wont grab yr baby and kiss he/her hee eheee

jumbo,

i went to Ju Shin Jung Korean BBQ @ west coast b4..hmm..the playroom is not really big..think can only accomdate 5-6 kids..if there are other older kids then have to kep a look out for Nixon lor.

Hey it's been a long time since we last had a Apr mommies gahtering...anyone planning for one? Ke ke ke..I know I am quite lousy at this..Momyam wanna try?

<font color="ff6000">momyam</font>
no lah, i thought the parking was ok. it's free so that's good hahaha. weekdays definitely no problem, then i went once on sat morning, parking was still ok but the place was pretty crowded cos there was a bday party going on.

must remember to bring socks for yourself and your little one otherwise u gotta buy their yucky neon green free-size one for $3. entry is $6 for under-3s and free for adults.
happy.gif

i find that it's quite a nice outing cos can also go to ben & jerry's next door for ice cream afterwards. ben & jerry's also has a small play/art area for kids and some of the seating in the eating area is swings so that is also fun for kids. if i'm not wrong, this outlet also serves sandwiches and burgers, so you can have a meal there.

rach, they dun have staff inside the room with the kids?? cos i scared big childcare will knock nix down..

yesterday nix knock himself on my parents' bedframe and got a cut near his ear... sigh.. he is so unlucky..

smurfy, when u want to go?? u want to be organiser?

miu66 u make the place sound so interesting how i wish i can go now. :s that place can do mani / pedi somemore. wow lioaz!!

hey, jumbo guess what isaac had a bad fall yesterday on his head and now the big baluku pop out.. kanna scold by my hb last nite.. coz' he felt is my fault

Hi ladies,

If there is any gathering going on, pls update me ok. I have not seem many of you. I can only remember how hunnie, chenoa, babe and draik looks like. Met hunnie and chenoa before. Saw babe and draik thru their blog. I will try as much as possible to make it if time permits.

Just want to check how many of you had enroll you little ones to the childcare centre? If bb not going to childcare, then should we enroll them into some classes or what?

I'm for sure not going to enroll Enya to childcare until she is 2. My mum's order. So I hope she is not losing out to other children that are attending childcare. A bit lost at what to do with her.

Jumbo,
there's no staff manning playroom in Ju Shin Jung. When we went there for dinner on a weekday almost a yr ago, there's only 2 kids (siblings). YY did not went into the playroom cos she was still too young. The weekday crowd seems to be more office / colleagues / friends, mostly koreans. Maybe weekends will be more family thus more children there.

momyam, don't anyhow arrow me. So many mommies out here keep quiet everyday then hear about bambini, suddenly pop out.

Gatherings
I oso keen on the gatherings ler, if any. Pls keep me in the loop too. Seen other threads organising regular meetups/ playgroups makes me so envious. Seems like our thread are a bunch of shy/ busy mothers lor so not many gatherings. Hehehe. I quite free on weekdays but limited $$$ to spend so got such lobangs, pls chio me k.

Playgroup/ Childcare
Most probably gonna enrol Reanne in Kinderland Playgroup in Civic Centre since her cousin is there too.

Hi mummies,

Long time never come in and talk. Was quite busy at work and at the same time, try to clear as much as i can before i give birth next month. How I wish i can give birth now. This 2nd pregnancy is abit strain for me.

Stephz,
congrats. I hope I can cope well with my son n my bb when she's born.

Playgroud
I will send my son to a playground centre which is nearer to my mum's plc so that it is easier for them to send n pick him. Have yet to source. Will probably look around during my ML.

Gatherings,

i also keen to join gatherings leh.. so far have attended a few..but seems like it's so long since we last have our gathering.. Guess mummies are busy with #2 or coping with work bah..

How about this.. I volunteer to organise a trip to Bambini BUT BUT BUT... mummies here, pls kindly understand that i've never been there before as well..so if any qns, pls refer to the website or call them directly to check ok..

http://www.gogobambini.com/index.php

Am pretty sure that weekends are available to most mummies, then again..also to many other mummies lor..so i would like to suggest we go weekdays instead as our kiddos are still young..if it's wkends, might be very crowded and higher chance of getting knock down but other older kids there.. Working mummies, if can..pls apply leave to join in the fun lor.. ( I know leave is very precious..but it's just once awhile lar..try, pleasss) Can let the kiddos mix around and have fun while mummies can interact with each other lor..

Tentative Date : 5th Sept (Wed)
Tentative Time : 2pm

Open to any other suggestions..

Interested mummies, pls kindly add in your name..

talk about outing only...everyone started to appear and get excited liao...kekeke

Thanks Rach for informing me. xie xie! I will try my best to attend since I m on leave that day bringing Keith for his 18mth jab. If he no fever, I will bring him there to join the fun.

I have been there once during the national day holiday. very shag for mummies loh...coz we have to follow our kiddos around but is a good exercise lah. pregnant mum plse get a helper coz got to climb and crawl inside de...can get quite stuffy when crowded. It is card system meaning like marche, everything charge to card and payment upon exit. if never makan or drink anything, the bill will be S$6 loh. car park is free but limited lot. I went early so parking not much of a problem

Wld like to join but totally no idea how to go. As it's a weekday, I need to take bus/ Mrt there.
Anyone can advise, if not I may need to give it a miss?

http://www.gogobambini.com/information.php
scroll down to "our location"
driving: it's near botanic gdns, check street directory.

mrt: i think the closest ones would be orchard and commonwealth, but you would have to take bus/cab from there.

buses: listed on the "our location" page, not sure how accurate. honestly, it is quite a long walk in, esp if it is a hot day and you have your little one with you.

i suggest that those who are not driving meet at mrt station and share cab?

the toddler play area is not very big but i think it is ok cos it's likely the kids will just be running between the play area and the cafe anyway. they also all like to go and look at the big kids play on the big playscape but it's not really very safe for them to go inside the playscape if there are many big kids (unlikely cos it's mid-week).

anyone need more info, please let me know
