(2006/04) April 2006 MTB

Hi tracy, you saw me? U worked there? Heehee....been busy so haven't been on the forum..

My gal naps twice, once in morning 10ish another in afternoon about 3ish but of course weekend when she sees daddy and mommy things can go haywired. Hmmm...trying to train but not successful still have to carry for naps..but with my mum she can pat her to sleep.

Biting..
My girl has been biting me and chewing on my clothes when she wants to sleep at night. Wonder if she's teething (but I don't see major eruptions) or she knows I am having a 2nd one? When she wakes up and cry at night, she will want to climb over me.

babe,
think she's searching for the nipple.

Wow.. finally some postings here. Noticed that our threads hv been relatively quiet nowadays. Isn't it?

Not as active as previous times. Probably trying to handle the toddler.

May I ask, anybody read Positive Parenting?

How do you find it?

Xuanting lo, she is so rebellious that i m worried that we may spoilt her.

My mom and I've tried leaving her cry for a while; but nowadays she seems to be challenging our patience too.

Worse of all, she nowadays refuse to sit in her car seat and wants to move about in the car?!!!!

She is the type of girl that has her character. Want her way, means her way. My mum and I cannot force our way through or use our "hard" methods. She kind of listens to her dad and we think, it has to do with some children "eat soft, don't eat hard" character?

How do you handle?

Half of my mind wants to spank her; but she would yell louder when I scolded her.

Then, another matter too.

Lately, I happened to find out that two of my secondary school classmates - guys, got married this and last year, didn't invite me.

They invited my best friends though.

But just me.

Somehow I felt so sad and hurt. Because in school days, my best friends and I always in the gang and these two guys are relatively close to us. I used to help them in the homework too.

I just felt so hurt inside. My best friend mentioned rencently about the event on them bringing their baby out. One part of me think, "well, Xuanting definitely would create a scene and so luckily he didn't invite me", but the other side of me think "so sad I can't gather".

I used many methods to comfort myself, e.g. I can ve my own time, I save on the hongbaos etc.

Yet still feeling down?

Isn't this ironic?

Am I crazy?

chenoa, I stopped bf since CNY and she has never done this before. I have given up and allow her to bite on her soft toy to sleep. Don't know if it's her way to comfort herself to sleep...arghh I know it's disgusting but what can I do?

Aiyo, after our church camp, keziah has been waking up a few times in the night to cry. She refuses my hb to carry but he persistently carried her and left her on bed beside me and immediately she falls asleep. Is it she lack security? How to revert the cycle?

Kolarie, don't get upset. Somehow I realised when you don't keep the links, people tend to forget you. These days life has been quite lonely and revolve around the family. Sometimes I also wonder if people remember me..heehee...just gotta take the initiative sometimes to make the connection which I am still trying to myself.

Markers and crayons
Wonder what kind is good to buy for bb to scribe with as I realised when I open the magic pens I have for my girl to write on, she will want to touch the tip. Is that ok? Then her hands will be all messy. If not I stop her then she can't go on playing..

Koalarie, pat pat.. dont be too sad, such things bound to happen. maybe it could be that we keep missing out their outing since we pak tor / marriage / give birth that's why our friends left us out? old / new friends needs to be maintain of coz' for best friend somehow they will understand and no matter how long u didnt meet them we are still able to talk rubbish to each other. that's the bond that best friends are all about.

But norm friends All needs to be maintained, just like i stop clubbing ever since i have isaac.. so those clubbing crazy friends will stop asking me although once a blue moon they will still ask but I/they kw they ask for the sake of asking. after awhile they wont ask me anymore. coz' my ans is standard "har.. want lei but cant coz' isaac needs me at 9pm"

Dont feel too sour about that, i guess if there is another simple gathering by them. find time and effort to go even is only 15 mins hi - bye they will remember you.

I really make a lot of effort trying to juggle family (both side and mine), friends, old friends (with no kids/not married), colleagues. is really not easy. Like one of my good friends, i really make an effort once a month i will travel from pasir ris to west just to meet at her hse. of coz' she is always very nice she will prepare nice food for me and isaac. what we do there.. rot and rot hahaha

DISCIPLINE
i kw exactly how you feel about this! is tiring when try to pacify him and need to bluff him here and there.

give in to him scare i spoil him, dont give in to him he scream until the tears big big and he will hold his breath. i'm trying very hard not to feel soft when i see his big big tears and "holding breathe" but mission always failed when i see his whole face turn red. hiaz now distraction dont seems to work coz' he will remember after awhile what he wants.

HELP NEEDED!

Anyone bb stop wanting to eat solid food? Say use to eat 1 bowl of porridge, now only 1/2 a bowl and poo poo 3 times a day (hard ones).

Not sure is it teething, i thot is teething but then the poo poo is hard so cant really be. so i thot it could be weather.. hot. aiya, now big big headache.....

BABE

if is non toxic crayons / markers that should be ok. coz' at GUG they let young children to play with paint and is with their hands. so i suppose that is ok as long as it is non toxic.

Hi Evon,

Just to share I have been reading Positive Parenting. I find it quite useful 'cos they offer guides and suggestions on how to handle our babies. But those methods are easy said than done. But at least, I got a "channel" to turn to when I'm helpless. I do try to apply some of the methods inside, but haaa.. not easy lor. Esp when I got to be calm when my gal was throwing tantrum. Really testing my limit leh.

About your friends, I think don't be upset anymore. I realised it is very difficult to find friends nowadays and sometimes those so-called friends just do something that you don't understand. I have a friend recently who has been ignoring me also. It is very upsetting 'cos I do not know why she treat me this way. And I cannot recall I had done anything to make her unhappy. But at the end of the day, I told myself it is her lost 'cos she is not treasuring my friendship. If she treasure my friendship with her, she should come forward and speak to me if she is not happy. But since she choose to go away, I guess just let her go away.

So, cheer up.

Cheers~

Mom_yam,

When Jas is teething, she eat lesser than before also. After a while, it went back to normal. However, nowadays she is not so "qing cai". She will choose what she want to eat. Not like younger days, I cook what she eat what haaa...

RE: Not eating solid food

You know I have been facing this prob since dont know when already.. Amanda has 4 teeth growing out at the same time, doesnt eat much and yet poo poo 3 times 2 days ago.. and didnt poo yesterday... think might be cos of the weather.. so dont worry too much..

Evon,

RE: BB tantrums

Amanda also has her temperments too.. if she wants something meaning die die shes wants it.. and I told my hubby.. seems like almost all the April bbs are like that and he said, 'seems like the april mummies all dote on their babies alot.. so the babies' temperment shld be the same!'

Used to club very often with a big grp of friends or should I say different grps of friends too.. but after being a mummy.. and after getting married.. my priority is my family.. and I begin to filter out friends who dont really matter and really focus on those who matter to me.. inevitably, our circle of friends will dwindle as we get older.. but the comforting thing is that we still have those friends ard us who really matters..

Hi Babe,

Ya, I saw u with hb and bb. My office is nearby and went to Robinsons cos it is on sales that day.

Enya is also biting my clothes. But she is a tu tu addict so situation is still not so bad. I think it is due to teething. For the past week, she is having frequent and loose stool. She will also wake up in the middle of the night to noise. A bit tiring for us recently.

Thanks all. I feel comforted.

It is not that we didn't gather.. Hunniepot, think i told u before that i was a FA for a while?

Well, kind of these friends were also my prospectus and so I got to call them too.. n then that is it, these two guys nv bother to ask me for gatherings anymore.

Think, they still think i m a FA and so avoided me as compared to my best friends.

Nowadays, truly hard to find good friends around especially when they know you are a investment/insurance agent!

Anyway my poly friends re trying to arrange for gathering fortnight later. I would definitely join in. Got to catch up on how ppl re doing too.

Re: Our babies
I guess, like what ¾üsays, our babies born in the period of summer, so very tempermental and easily fall sick.

Not sure if I told you before as well.

He said, try not to have babies born between March - June period. Best is to have babies born in Autumn or Spring. = )

Re: Positive parenting
Jasminetea, so worth to get the book? I saw there are many different books on positive parenting. Which one re you reading now? I thinking of getting the Positive Discipline: The first 3 years and borrow the "Power of Positive Parenting".

hi mummies,

thanks for your input..... still have babies go for 2 naps in a day... me not alone....

went to a family dinner last week, one of my elder relative commented how come my girl is still getting 2 naps in a day... gotta let her nap once.... then me stomp... so wanna survey here lor.... hee...

re: BB tantrums
hmmmm... seems like apr babies are sama sama temper? my hubby said me is the one who spoil my girl, me admit lor... but me think that my mil has a part too... she's too good to my girl... she has never raise her voice at her just said "dont do this, dont do that" but my girl wld still do it... sigh... my girl threw her milk bottle, my hubby scolded her. she quickly turn to her grandma. so mil carried her and "sayang" her lor.... but me quickly get my girl from her and passed to my hubby. so he was able to "reason out" with her.... mil said she still young lor... me told my hubby, if my girl is huai huai, ppl tend to say credit of mil. but if my is naughty then is the parents fault... am me too baised to mil?

Evon

I'm reading Power of Positive Parenting. Was thinking if I should buy "The First 3 Years". To me, quite worth lor 'cos I'm reading it quite frequently, usually on my way to work.

My girl recently loves taking off her diapers and walk all over the place half naked... anyone experiencing this? How about those who let your babies wear cloth diapers, does this happen to your child?

solid food,
KJ also eat half a bowl of porridge recently, or less than half. But he has just recovered from diarrhoea so I just let him be.

KJ also refuse to sit on the car seat for long. We will have "new" toys for him in the car, new mineral water bottles, Mommy's old toys, and let him entertain himself in the car. So far so good but cannot travel far.

BB tantrums,
KJ also start throwing his tantrums, he will arch his back, throw himself on the floor. I just leave him on the floor and walked away. I dunno what I am doing is right or not because I never read any books. Sometime, KJ will soften his crying and run to me, then I will asked him why is he crying. Yesterday, he refuse to come to me because he wanted me to give in to him, so I just told my mom to watch him while I shut myself inside the bedroom. I could hear that KJ was crying so much that he do not know how to stop. My mom tried to pacify him and finally he stop crying. When I came out from the bedroom, KJ came running to me, then I asked him why is he crying. He ignored me and lie himself in nursing position and start pulling my t-shirt up. *hiaz*

I am very scare that one day if I dun buy something that he wanted in the shopping mall, he will start rolling himself in the shopping mall. If that really happen, it will be very hard for me to just walk away and ignore him. So I start to walk away and ignore him at home first. Hopefully, he will quit that nonsense.

cludding,
I never like to go clubbing but my lucky husband is still going every now and then. He is lucky to get a wife that never stop or nag him when he go.

Anybody here knows for any place where I can upload my videos and post it on my blog? I used to upload my videos to youtube but they were very very slow nowaday. I dunno if my videos are the one with problems or youtube. I want to try another site.

hunniepot, at least yours go ard half naked. Mine likes to go ard fully naked. *laughs* seems to be like he doesn't like to put on anything. clothes that he dun like to wear, he will take it out, unfortunately only successful if the shirt size is loose enuf.

Hi ladies,

Enya loves to be naked too. Especially every night when I change her into her pyjamas. She just refuse to put them on. Crawl around just with her diapers on.

According to my mum, Enya will stay put and be good when her nanny wants to change her. I think she is more afraid of her and she bully me and my mum.

Hi, gals. How's life? Been missing for quite a while. Got a lot to catch up...
kao_sticktongue.gif

Just came back from HK and older Isaac caught chicken pox on the last day. Now praying hard tat younger Brendon wouldn't get it.

Can anyone advise if it is alright to bring younger boy for chicken pox jab now? He's due for it currently. Wasn't clear abt what the doc in HK was saying then.

They have become very very difficult, aren't they?

My gal now dun want to eat anything, except snacking on soda crackers. Very frustrating to cook already and she dun want to eat. Also don't want to drink water. Hardly any urine throughout the day as compared to last time when she'll pee wee every 45min to an hour, and within 20-30min after drinks. I get so mad and stressed every day because of her eating pattern (or rather, the non-existence of it).

She will keep pointing to the bread on the table but when give her the bread, she don't want to take at all. It was an overnight change, cos till early this week, she was still a bread person. Really dunno what she wants ...

And she cannot take "NO" for an answer. Will wail when you try to stop her from biting the remotes, or keep away the stuff she wants to play with (which are always remotes and the things she rampaged from the bag like keys, wallets, handphones, pocket tissues, etc.). That day, she searched through my bag, threw everything out on the bed and cried when she cannot find my handphone. She very smart also leh....once, I gave her my old Nokia 8210 in bright red casing in exchange for my present LG phone, she held it for a few seconds and then put it down and come looking for the LG phone but she also dun mind her dad's less than a yr old's Sony Ericson ... wah, so young already know which is new technology and better meh?

Another headache is, dunno why she suddenly loathe / fear the bathroom. She was still ok on Wed evening for the bath, but on Thurs morning, she cried non-stop when I carried her into the bathroom and she don't want to sit in the tub at all, cry until the whole face turn red and choking breatheless. Same for that evening. Hb asked how I bathed her, how come she scared of the water, but there's no difference how I treated her what....then Friday, same reactions but I realised that she's actually not afraid of the water, but simply don't like to go into the bathroom. Cos she also won't want to pee in the toiletbowl / sink, and whenever I enter the bathroom (to brush teeth, wash hand, drop off a soiled nappy) she'll stand outside and cry and cry. She wasn't like that before...

WHAT'S HAPPENING TO HER??????

Chenoa, I must agree. What is happenning to them???

Really wonder is it teething that causes them don't want to eat & drink. Fussy abt food, tase, look, etc...

Riz now only drink abt 80ml of milk each time. Total 3 feeds only. Best part, 80ml of milk can last the whole nite!

I quite luckily at this moment. Food intake still the same. Except he might at times take a longer time to eat. Keep my fingers cross.

As for the bathrm, could it becos too much 'force' to ask her to pee there in the end she gets probia?

I also worry abt Riz Milk / H20 intake. How???

Hi all,
Hehe, somehow feel consolated when I read all the postings about your little tots having unusual behaviours nowadays. Haiz, my gal oso ler, different from her usual self. Dunno wat happen oso????

- No appetite to eat normal meals;
- Keep clinging onto me like koala bear;
- Keep wanting to be carried;
- Quick tempered, wail n scream when she dun get what she wants or when we try to take away from her. But luckily she dun do that when other people (like cashier/ sales girl) ask from her.
- Suddenly wake up in middle of nite and insist I bring her outside our room.???

Is it bcoz they start to have their own set of thinkings now and are fast approaching the Terrible 2 stage??? I nearly broke down today after tolerating her 1 whole week of tantrums. Luckily my mom n DH come to my rescue... Duno what to do oso. Can't bear to whack her. Only can scold n explain to her.
sad.gif

When talk abt temper, I lose my temper and screamed at Riz. Also used force him to lay dw to drink milk. He cry & cry (Those cry is like 'tat' cry) He tried to show me the tiger paws with he 2 hands (Which we taught hin how to do tiger)purposely to try to scare me off. So funny. Want to laugh but mad dw inside of me.

bblim, I also did lose my temper to Riz. He so naughty and ... Aiya! don't nod how to describe. HIs father got mad and lose his temper to scold me!

When at nite I got fed up in carry Riz to sleep, He will cry and cry. I let his father carry him.

Hi Ladies,

Recently, Enya is also a bit out of control too. Will cry over small things and if you dun let her do what she wants to do, she will cry the whole house down.

She is also very sticky to me. Does not want any other pple to carry except those that she knows. In the night, she will sleep lying on my tummy or on my arm. Sometimes she wants to carry to sleep too. I suspect it is due to teething.

She has another 2 more bottom teeth coming out. Super cranky especially in the night. She is also a bit picky on her solid food. My mum cooked porridge for her and she only took a few mouth then dun want liao. Rather drink milk than eating the porridge.

Yesterday, she started to have a little running nose. Keep sneezing and have loose stools. Must be teething causing these problems. Haiz....

Cheona,
cool down.
Seems like what amy wrote's true. Xuanting also behaving very weird too for a while.
Remember there was a time she doesn't like to bath? Well, she kind of got over at her 4th month then out of blue moon, same problem replayed and this time she refused to sit down and insisted on standing and clinging to me/ my mom. And so ended up we got wet too. My mom thought she saw something and went get flowers from temple to let her bath. Strangely, it kind of work?
Anyway, she refused to take her porridge too. She only wanted to eat rice!

i'm glad we've this forum to share. At least we know we're not alone facing these weird situations.

Here's something to share regarding bb's tantrum:
-------------------------------------------------------
Q: My son is 14 months old and if he doesn't get what he wants, he throws a terrible tantrum, throwing himself on the ground or swatting at whoever happens to be close. Help! What can I do to break him of this terrible behavior?

A: Those tantrums that you describe sure can test the patience of any caregiver. For the 14-month-old child, however, they are about the best way he has to let you know that he's determined to enjoy something, eager to stop what he's doing, or feeling hot or cold or hungry or full, bored, tired, or rarin' to go. As language develops over the next six months or so, your child will be able to express his needs and interests more diplomatically. For now, first satisfy yourself that he is not in danger, then scoop him up and playfully distract him with a sing-song style of reassuring words and alternative activity. Know your own limits, too! If you're out of gas (and wishing you could throw a tantrum yourself), find someone you trust to lend a hand with your child. I wonder, by the way, if your boy might be an excitable, dramatic personality by nature. If so, he's probably just as boisterous when he's laughing with joy. He's the type who, in time, can funnel his intensity into great leadership skills and great efforts to be successful. Peter A. Gorski, M.D.

Hi,

My 13 mths plus gal suddenly refuse to eat...dunno what happen, wondering if she's sick of the porridge which I've been preparing for her...she's been eating brown rice until recently she dislike it so much that she refuse to open her mouth and dun like to eat fish also..sighh..may I know what your child has been eating daily? eg. breakfast, lunch and dinner?

Hi mummies,

I would like to check what shampoo you use for your little ones?

I'm using Mustela. But a bit ex I feel. Would like to look for alternatives.

Hi Moomooko,

My girl is still a milk girl. Only 2-3 solid meals a day. Can be cereal or porridge. But I realise that if the porridge is too plain, she will reject.

Hi Moomooko,

I'm facing same problem with my girl. She used to love to eat. Anything I prepared she will eat. But nowadays, she has been choosing food.
sad.gif
Anyway, here is what I'm feeding her.

Breakfast : Bread, Cornflakes. (she no longer taking baby cereals)

Lunch : Porridge with dishes (steamed egg, steamed meat)

Tea Break : Yoghurt, Biscuits, Fruits, Bao etc

Dinner : Rice with soup/dishes

Shampoo

Tracy, I'm using Mustela initially too. Now using Gerber. It is cheaper in the sense that it is bigger size as compare to Mustela at that price. So far ok. Smell nicer too.

Hi Jasminetea,

My girl's nanny actually use the Lactacyd to wash her hair as well. But b'cos she perspire until sour sour then the lactacyd cannot cover the sour smell.

That's one of the reasons why I'm looking around.

Moomooko,
Here my imput:

Breakfast : Bread, Biscuits, Bao (will give some food that adult eating)

Lunch : Porridge (she love it...) / Rice

Tea Break : Biscuits, Fruits, Bread, etc ...

Dinner : Porridge

Milk intake : Morning, noon, evening, night. (150ml)

Tracy,
hmmm..i also wash her hair twice, cos she perspire alot....but worried "feng"....and we adult also not advisable to wash hair everyday....
so, me confuse....

Re: Shampoo
I change from California Baby to cheap cheap Pureen after Reanne turned 1yo.

Re: Hair Wash
I normally wash her hair twice a day unless she is sick. Then I will skip the evening one.

*sign* I posted that KJ eat only half a bowl of porridge recently. Then suddenly for 2 days, he finish up whole bowl of noodles or porridge and even asked for more. Today, he was back to half a bowl of noodle or porridge.

I used Lactacyd until I cannot stand the smell of KJ hair. Then I switched to Johnson head to toes.

I go for Gerber too. Bathe him twice. I bought those toy sponges that are squeezed into mini capsules and once they are dropped into water, the membranes of the capsules will melt, thus revealing different types of animal figures. Brendon loves to bathe w them. Every time, he will struggle when I pull him out of the bath tub. These animal capsules are non-toxic too.

Does any mommy experience their bb's teeth sprouting 4 at one go? 2 molars and 2 lower front teeth? Can't bear to see the irritation he suffers...
sad.gif

I also wash Amanda's heair twice a day. Used to be using Gaia, but way too expensive.. now using sebamed.. but will be switching to Johnsons Soothing Naturals (very nice smell)

Amy,

Where do you get those capsules from?

My girl is sprouting 4 teeth at a time now.. but all are insicors

Hunnie and Petite, muar still at work. Will try to snap a shot tonight. I am also thinking hard where I got them from as my supplies are running low...
sad.gif

I bought some from States and was using them sparingly until I chanced upon them here. So happy I grabbed everything I saw in his store. The shopkeeper must be thinking I am a freako!!! kekeke...

Hi,

May i know if my 14 mth child can eat 1 piece cheese with bread everyday for breakfast?
how much cheese do your child eat?
my gal love to eat so wondering if it's ok to eat 1 whole piece of chesdale cheese...

Hair wash
I wash my son's hair once a day, and it's enough to make me hope the next day won't come so soon, cos he'll scream his butts off everytime a bit of water runs down his face.

I use Kodomo Baby Bath for both his body and hair, hope it's alright cos it's not specifically a shampoo.

Eating habits
Like many of your babies, Aiden is starting to show his likes and dislikes in terms of food. He especially likes sweet potato porridge, so I cook that quite often, and steam some chicken/pork and veg to go with the porridge. So far, I'm still happy with his intake of food.

Milk
He takes 180ml in the afternoon, together with some snacks, followed by 200ml at night. It's still way below the recommended daily milk consumption, but I can't find any other timeslot to feed him milk. He's not a formula milk kind of guy. But he still loves to nurse, even though I'm not sure my body is producing much bm now.

Parenting books
"Positive Discipline" is on 20% at Popular till end June, for Popular card members. I'm reading one of the volumes now, together with Supernanny. Find it so hard to remember the concepts and methods. Read today, forget tomm. Brains rusty liao....

Hi Amy,

Shawn sprouted 8 teeth at the same time. 4 molar, 4 cannines. He has 16 teeth now... it was all in 1 week.. terrible.. he woke up many (as much as 10) times at night. Plus he had running nose then too. Luckily it's all behind us now.

Su,

My Enya is also having running nose now and then. So it's teething that cause the running nose lah. I was on the verge of bringing her to the doc.

Last week, she has frequent poo poo. This week, she dun want to poo. Really dun know wat to do.

HI Ladies,

Riz is drinking his milk again. Not at 240ml yet but aleast he now takes 15-30mins to drink his milk. YEH!

Su, that must be terrible for you & Shawn... 8 at one go. I can feel it. OUCH!

took gab for her 14th month jab today.. told the pd that she is very fussy with her food. she said its normal.. she oso said i should give her food with more taste and let her try all sorts of food even spicy ones. told her gab has turned vegetarian. so she suggested to inclu tofu, mushrooms for proteins.
wow SU, it must be really terrible for both shawn and you during that period. gab's 2 molar is giving life to itself recently and she is such a devil during this period.
yes i think at this point of time our lit tod know what they want and have they OWN mind now.... can't imagine how life will be when they start to TALK??? now can't talk aldy so manupulative!!!
