Here’s Why You Should Visit BOUNCE, Singapore’s Newest Trampoline Park!

The scorching weather these days might have prompted you to cross out outdoor play on your list of activities to keep the kids occupied. Fair enough. But there’s no reason not to indulge in some good old fashioned play at an indoor playground. Been there, done that? Then head down to BOUNCE, Singapore’s newest trampoline park!

Located on the ninth floor of Cathay Cineleisure Orchard, BOUNCE spans about 24,000 square feet and boasts some impressive Olympic grade trampolines! Our team paid a visit last week and boy, did we have a bouncing good time! Our session was to begin at 4pm, but the kids were already raring to go at 3.45pm!

Before entering the trampoline park, we had to put on our special BOUNCE grip socks (purchase them at $3 per pair) which feature little rubberised circles on the soles for added friction (lest we slip on the trampolines, being the amateurs that we are). The team filled in waiver forms (this can also be done online to save time!), listened to the safety brief by the BOUNCE staff and before we knew it, it was 4pm! (sessions here start and end on the hour) The kids needed no instruction. They raced ahead of us!

Trampoline Dodgeball

We started off with the trampoline dodgeball section which turned out to be a good cardio workout! If you are a dodgeball fan who thinks the sport couldn’t get any better, think again! Throw in trampolines and you have double the fun! Trying not to tumble clumsily can be challenging at first, but you will soon get the hang of it. The aim of the game is to keep bouncing while trying to avoid being hit by the opposing team (don’t worry, the balls are soft). Needless to say, the kids LOVED it!

Slam Dunk

For those of you who have absolutely no flair for basketball, here’s your chance to make that once-in-a-lifetime Instagram-worthy slam-dunk! With the aid of a trampoline, of course. Give yourself three jumps to build up some momentum for that final slam-dunk which Michael Jordan would be proud of. The kids, being kids, preferred to go straight for the basket with just a single bounce off the trampoline. Choose whichever style that works best for you!

Free Jumping Arena

This is the spot for kids and adults alike to experience the thrills of parkour in a much safer environment. There are a total of 28 interconnected trampolines in the arena and you can bound from one to another in quick succession. There are also angled banked walls for you to scale at the end of your bouncing routine. Defy gravity in style or just feel free to bounce away on a single spot for an adrenaline rush!

Big Bag

This was my personal favourite at BOUNCE. Judging from the number of times the kids had a go here, I think it’s pretty safe to assume that it was their favourite too. So what’s the Big Bag? It’s an enormous inflated landing spot that will receive you lovingly as you plunge into it from a height. We bounced our way forward on the trampoline and launched ourselves into the five-foot-deep pit several times and soon found it to be rather addictive. Extracting yourself from the Big Bag can be a challenge as the impact of the person landing nearby you can make you lose your balance. Slow and steady does it!

X-Park

This adventure challenge course is also known as the Ninja Warrior obstacle course. This section of BOUNCE may not be suitable for all children as there is a height restriction. You need to be at least 125cm tall. The kids found it tough to complete some parts of this obstacle course, so it would be more suitable for older children, teens and adults. But the rock climbing wall was great for all ages!

Getting through the entire obstacle course demands a fair amount of upper body strength and I found myself with sore arm muscles the next morning. My personal favourite out of all the elements at X-Park was the final “flying fox” challenge which saw me racing down an aerial runway. What is really cool about this course is that it allows the kids to approach each segment as a standalone so that they can take their time with it!

If you are in the mood to challenge yourself, buy an RFID wristband at the counter and scan it against the RFID reader at the start of the obstacle course to find out how long you took to zip through it! The wristband can be used during your next visit to BOUNCE. Do note that you will need to wear sneakers or sports shoes before you can attempt the X-Park course.

If you have a tot who is three and above but under 110 cm in height, fret not – he isn’t going to be left out. BOUNCE has a designated jumping zone for little ones from 10 am to 4 pm on weekdays and 10 am to 12 pm on weekends. The minimum age for jumpers is three years, and there is a weight limit of 120 kg.

You are bound to feel thirsty and hungry after that 60-minute workout. Refresh yourselves with bites and beverages from South 38, BOUNCE’s in-house cafe that offers Australian style dishes. Parents, you can also tap on the free wifi here. There are lockers available at the premises to store your belongings. The restrooms are conveniently located on the same floor.
