Ttc - trying to conceive
Edd - expected delivery date
Opk - ovulation test kit

my menses came but only like spotting red red type... how to induce more arh?
Maybe you wait 1 to 2 days more? I also normally hv spotting 1 to 3 days before the real menses come. As for induce, heard before drinking parsley water but hv nt tried before.

Are you sure its menses and not inplantation bleeding?

hello RetroNe,
yea mindboggling all the shortforms initially.
i am guessing TMC is thomson medical centre, that's the common one.

here is a link to more acronyms common (dpo, bfp, bfn...) and not so common ones.
http://www.resolve.org/support/Managing-Infertility-Stress/infertility-acronyms.html
other similar lists if u google pregnancy/TTC forum acronyms.

Oh, I don't mean yr colleague bluff. Apologies. The TCM lady may hv made claims tt we were not wise to catch her in. Initially we believed her & went str to Dr Chen. After spending some precious time, flights (we were overseas) then & consultation fees, we checked around & found not necessary.

no worries :)
this JE St 21, TCM lady u mentioned is from Ying Chuan right? sorry to hear u spent so much time and effort, at least u realised it... its a tough journey for those of us in this boat. pretty much willing to try anything ... sigh

Nonetheless... Congrats on yr happy news and healthy babe! :)

received yesterday nite. catching all yr baby dusts :) :)

just wondering do you ladies tests twice a day? pls share what works best for u.

I read afternoon is the best time to test, but cannot be too dilute the urine, have to be few hrs.

so far I've tested once daily. last month i had double lines but lighter than control lines for 2 days in a row (ie negative). not sure if i ovulated. seemed to have O, based on bbt and cm. Previously i think when i saw similar double line, i assume it was fertile period, was not tracking bbt or cm back then. I did get pregnant, but ended w mc sadly.

You're very fortunate that your embryo managed to attach to your uterus & not dislodged. Some dislodged & say hv miscarriage.

Congrats to you for your precious miracle baby!

Hi all, I have been ttc for 1.5 years. Recently decided to go to TFC for consultation and found out that I have a good ovarian reserve but not really ovulating and would be going for HSG test this week to check whether the tubes are blocked.

I had hyperthyroid since 15 yo and later become hypothyrotism after iodine treatment. My TSH level have been fluctuating between 3.7 and 5 for the last year and I just realise that the TSH should be approximately 2 if I am ttc so gynae advised me go back to my thyroid doctor to adjust med dosage. Not sure if it is because if the stress, my menses have become more haywire this few months too. I am wondering whether does TCM helps with such problems. Anyone have any experience?

Hi there, I have been ttc since Feb this year, got a bfp in May but ended up in chem pregnancy. Now back to try again and really need some encouragement. Is there a WhatsApp group that I can join?

Hi, been TTC-ing for about 1.5 years. Early this year, did 2 times of IUI at NUH but not successful. I decided not to try for the 3rd time and now I am seeing TCM Dr Tan from Clementi. During my first appt, he did acupuncture on me and was given some herbs to be taken before ovulation. Now after ovulation, I am taking the "an tai yao".

I also went to pray for Zhu Sheng Niang Niang in Toa Payoh and taken 2 red eggs.

Anyone seeing Dr Tan and at the same time planning to do IVF?

Hi Shigure1234, when are you going to start IVF? Do you plan to continue with Dr Tan's acupuncture and chinese medicine while doing IVF? I already thought of stopping Dr Tan's treatment and going to IVF straight. I don't think i can take his medicine for so long. But I am not sure if his medicine and his acupuncture should go hand-in-hand with IVF

Same thoughts. I have seen him for 2 months. Not sure if medicine acupuncture really helps. Medicine is so yucky and costly in long run.

Hiii everybody.. I am a little bit confused with my clearblue OPK test.. i have checked 4 days in a row and the results are all smiley face.. is it common to have same result like this for 4 days or more? i thought ovulation should happen 12-48 hours after the first smiley face? Thanks!

after i test positive on opk, i will stop testing, cos if ovulation occur, egg will release btw 12-36 hours, no point to test as the result will all have smiley face.

Hi all! I am new to this forum. Married since Late 2014, went to KKH to do fertility tests in Dec 2016 when we did not conceive naturally after 2 years of marriage. My cycles were going wonky for 1 year plus (30 to 52 days cycles!) because of work and life stages transition (single to married + staying with inlaws).

Tests were all good - hubs sperm mortility was alright and my tubes are not blocked. Took letrozole for 3 - 4 months and helped to make my cycles go back to normal. Unfortunately I still wasn't getting pregnant, so doc at KKH asked if i wanted to go for IUI. In the end I decided not to, for now.

Meanwhile I realise I have subclinical hypothyroidism (which means based on the blood tests all the hormones are fine except TPO. My antibiotics are attacking my thyroid but the thyroid is still functioning okay. Have symptoms of hypothyroid - weight gain, brain fog, anxiety) which I was told western medication has no treatment for this. Decided to see the famous Dr Tan Siew Buay at Chinatown for the past 3 months to 'tiao' my body holistically - including thyroid probs which she said TCM can help.

Just wondering if anyone has subclinical hyperthyroidism and managed to conceived? And also anyone has or have heard ladies getting pregnant after seeing Dr Tan and how long did it take them to get pregnant?

Baby dust to all! Jiayou in this journey together :)

Hi, I had subclinical hypothyroidism as well but I am not sure what you mean by TPO? I am taking thyroxin to regulate my T3 and T4... At first the numbers went all haywire when I first started as I was given the wrong dosage and I was taking other supplements as well. It finally stabilized now after a few try and error...

I am not sure why you say western medication has no treatment.... The journey might be tumultuous for me esp in the beginning but was glad that in the end it all worked out.

Hope your hypothyroidism will get better too!

Hi there, welcome.
Do u have subclinical hypo- or hyper-thyroidism cos both are mentioned in yr post? u prob mean hypo and TPO antibody , not antibiotics?

Have u re-do your bloodtest after TCM? is it improving? Will be good to know.

i have borderline sub clinical hypo, cos had thyroid nodules and removed one side. I did managed to conceive but cannot sustain my pregnancy, thyroid level could be one of the possibility. only started meds after. still trying.

yes , as yahisaMai said, Levothyroxine is the standard western meds. (Glad to hear u managed to stabilised yr conditions, YajisaMai :)). I am also taking Lexothyroxine and TSH under 2 is good and optimal level of TSH for pregnancy is 1, cos the moment u are pregnant, baby will need yrs to support.

If u have high TPO, there could be autoimmune conditions like hashimoto, not sure if that's what u mean? if u have tried taking the standard levo thyroxine (T4), and don't get better ... there are alternatives like Armour thyroid, or combination of T3/T4 compound. very few doc in Sg prescrib. Need to find more progressive doc, and there are.

With thyroid or hormone related, it takes time to fine tune your levels, and finding a doctor that will work with u.

I recommend this book and hypothyroidmom.com website for info.
"Your Healthy Pregnancy with Thyroid Diseases"
by hypothyroidmom.com founder Dana Trentini and Mary Shomon .

hope this helps and baby dusts to u too!

Thanks! I was just given the clearance early this month, was so happy that it finally stabilized. Feel more relief and confident to try now too.

ladies,
what is your TSH level?

if my TSH 2.3, is it consider as normal or as sub hypothyroidism? TPO level I don't know, never did that blood test. I asked my rheumatologist last week about my TSH, seems she does't know... Which doctor should I ask about hypo?
Bought iodized salt just for prevention..

it's within normal range, not hypo. is this with or without meds?
if u are generally healthy, prob dont need to be too worried abt it.
Do u have symptoms that made u concerned? does iodize salt help?

my TSH was previously was still within normal range actually, but on the higher side. if i wasnt TTC, will not need meds. except i had recurrent miscarriages, had thyroid operation and low energy, so my docs suggested to bring it lower and also the minute i know i'm pregnant, the med dosage will be adjusted.

my TSH last checked was abt 1.07 (with levothyroxine)
T3 & T4 range shld be at top quarter for optimal level too.

i worked w a few docs to get to this range. my initial O&G doc didnt think need adjustments. u can ask endocrinologist or functional med docs. reproductive endocrine shld know too.

grumpet,

I heard that if you are TTC, your TSH level should be under 1.5. My is 2.3 without meds, worried if it's too high for ttc women.
Iodine helps with hypothyroidism.
