Trying to Conceive 2019

dear all, after 4 failed IVF attempts in KKH, I went to taiwan to give my last shot and was blessed to give birth to a boy girl twins 8 months ago. The fertility hospital is considered the "Authority in fertility" and has superior technique which can achieve success rate up to 80%.
As a patient in their mailing list, I saw that they are having a seminar on 27th.
Just sharing . This is the registration from . https://forms.gle/7fc2re7WEqi2nQ947

Did the doc gives u any medicine to boost morphology? Doc said there are cases whereby morphology of 1% or 0% also can conceive naturally.

You can take fertility package for both of u at a special rates offered by various hospitals. Maybe u can choose the doc which u prefer to go with in case u need to go for fertility assisted techniques after that
The TCM gave me various medications and lifestyle suggestions. Thank you all for your suggestion! Will get my wife to go for fertility check

I'm keen to join whatsapp grp too. Thanks. My hubby and I are trying too but yet to receive good news.

Hi, i have regular 30-days menses cycle since forever however i noticed that my clear blue ovulation stick kept showing negative during ovulation period. i did an ultra scan and gynae told me there was "no egg/dominant follicle", anovulation and prescribed me Serophene. I later googled and found that it increased the risk of twins as well as enlargement of fibroid (i have a 4.4cm one). In a dilemma if i should take it :(

Hi, I’m new here. Trying to conceive at the end of the year. Would like to go to the gynae for a check up first. Can anyone recommend me a gynae for pre pregnancy checkup?
I’m considering dr paul tseng, can anyone advise how is his charges? Thanks

Dear Ladies,

I would like to seek your advice on which option I should take for egg donation.

These are my 4 options:

1) My doctor actually recommended me to look for my relatives as potential donors. I have a younger female cousin whom I am very close to, and I can certainly ask her. However, I am reluctant to do so, because I am afraid that the future child may learn about the secret of his or her conception. You know that sometimes it is difficult to keep secrets among relatives. Family secrets easily spill out after some time.

2) The doctor also told me that the government has recently allowed import of frozen donor eggs from a European egg bank. But upon searching their catalog, there were no Asian donors, only Caucasian ones. I am not comfortable with a Caucasian egg donor, as a Eurasian child will stick out like a sore thumb for a Chinese couple.

3) The nurse at the clinic discreetly hinted that I can secretly use a foreign egg donor agency, to arrange for an egg donor to travel to Singapore. But payment has to be kept absolutely secret because this is actually illegal in Singapore. However, the nurse hinted that the doctor and clinic will 'close one eye' and pretend not to know anything, even if they suspect that I am illegally using a paid egg donor from a foreign agency.

4) Then, there is also the option of going to Malaysia or Thailand for egg donation.

Wondering which route would you recommend? I am still thinking hard and considering all options.

I went to thomson fertility centre. The fertility check for both husband and wife is $400plus. After adding consultation and some fees, about 500plus to 600.

I am currently on the first cycle of Clomid. Anyone succeeded with Clomid? My hub morphology is also 2% is it really difficult to conceive? Feeling abit depressed after TTC for about 7 months

wow, didnt the doctor advise you? 2% is nothing to worry about, every doctor (I tested a few times) I've seen said to ignore that.

I actually did some research looking at the articles in medical journals and the latest research pretty much bears this out. it's a old standard that they calibrated downwards but even then they starting to realise means very little.

Unless you are 0% or maybe 1%, it isnt anything to worry about. eg when doing IUI, you can pretty much ignore morphology % , since it doesnt factor in.

The other thing is the morphology factor varies a lot , I've varied from 2% to 4%.

btw 7 months ttc is nothing. 50% ttc seriously was get BFP after 12 months.

Hi,

I’m new to the thread. Me and my wife have been TTC for the past 8 months, but unable to do so. Initially, I went for sperm test and apparently, my morphology is less than 2%. and Started “Self Medicating”, eating more anti-oxident, blah blah. But still no results.

We went to Dr Tan Kien Sing @ Clementi for 3 months, every single time, there’s always acupuncture or medication prescribed. As a male, I was given some pills, 冬虫夏草,ginseng all these.

I not sure how do we track progress. Like mentioned, most of the time, me and my wife are spending ~$200/visit. Excluding those checkup that doctor require my wife to return, we’ve spent close to $900 in 3 months.

just like to understand, at what point do we seek alternative? Or are we getting impatient?

You really need to get better medical advise. 2% morphology is nothing to worry about. I did test a few times, every doctor said ignore that.

It's a old standard they barely look at. only worry if you are 0% or 1% maybe.

it also varies a lot the last time I got 4% after 2% the first time. it's a non factor really.

lol And yes you guys on the thread are really impatient. 50% of couples seriously trying TTC get BFP in 1 year, so dont panic if you are just a few months in lol.

unless you are getting on age say the gal in mid to late 30s, just to play safe might start doing tests after 6 mths but even that's more in case.

Relax... Dont need kan chong

yep. Doctors almost ignore this whole morphology thing already, 2% is fine, pretty common even.. take some multi vitamins maybe.

Also given posters worrying about morphology , have been ttcs for just a few months they shouldn't even be worrying yet.

many couples even if naturally fertile take a year maybe even 18 mths for a BFP and it's normal

Yah I am mid 30s already..so far did ultrasound and SA. Except for SA, it doesn’t look that good. He started me on 2 cycles of Clomid and recommended me to visit a specialist for IUI. I didn’t really want to start on IUI yet.. Anything else in the SA I should be mindful of?

Thank you. I have also seen the progressive motility and non progressive motility in the report but It wasn’t really highlighted to us much. The dr has adviced that 2% may encounter low sperm count and it maybe difficult to conceive. I am currently in mid 30s already.

er.. morphology can be 2% yet have good motility and sperm count. Those two other problems are more serious. The way you wrote I think your husband is more than just morphology issue.

Then yeah IUI if your clomid cycles dont work

what is the cheapest way to get fertility test? i did ultrasound from a gynea and seems no issue. but thinking get my hb to test the sperm too

Dear ladies, do give some feedback on egg donation in Malaysia:

Singaporeans head to Malaysia, elsewhere to find IVF egg donors
Singaporeans have travelled as far as the United States and Australia to find an egg donor to help them have a baby, but many have also gone to Malaysia, checks by The Straits Times showed.. Read more at straitstimes.com.

Egg donation in Malaysia costs just S$16,300 (RM50,000) all inclusive with IVF treatment !!!

S’poreans head to Malaysia, elsewhere to find egg donors

Singaporeans have travelled as far as the United States and Australia to find an egg donor to help them have a baby, but many have also gone to Malaysia, checks by The Straits Times showed. Ms Christine Gautaman, who runs Heart to ART, a firm in Selangor that matches couples to egg donors, told ST about 20 per cent of her clients are Singaporeans who require an egg donor, a surrogate mother, or both. For example, she has had Singaporean couples where the wives were in their 20s but suffered from premature ovarian failure. In such a case, the ovaries stop functioning normally before the age of 40, and the woman would require donor eggs to conceive. Her other Singaporean clients are often older, some in their 40s. She said Singaporeans prefer to use an anonymous egg donor as they have no ties to the donor and can raise the child as their own.
The cost of in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) using an egg donor is about RM50,000 (S$16,300). She said this covers the fees paid to the egg donor, the treatment to retrieve the donor’s eggs and the IVF procedure for the mother-to-be, which is performed in Malaysia.
Ms Gautaman did not say how much the donors are paid. She added that the egg donors at her agency are generally between the ages of 21 and 32, and many are degree holders. Some are even doctors, lawyers and accountants, she said. “These ladies are very well aware of the gift of life they are giving to their recipients and although they do receive some remuneration for their time and effort, they generally are doing this to help others,” said Ms Gautaman.
From January next year, women aged 45 and older will be allowed to undergo IVF here. Doctors cheered the move but they pointed out that many of these older women would need donor eggs to conceive even if they are allowed to undergo IVF here.
Dr Sadhana Nadarajah, senior consultant of the reproductive medicine department at the KK Women’s
and Children’s Hospital, explained that women in their late 40s and 50s will have to use donor eggs to
get pregnant. For women in that age group, if they are not menopausal, most of their eggs may be genetically abnormal by then, and it will be challenging to conceive using their own eggs, she said.
However, there are some women in their 20s who suffer from premature menopause and will also need
donor eggs to conceive. Doctors say egg donors in Singapore are uncommon due to the tedious procedures involved, the fact that they cannot be paid and that people are just uncomfortable with the idea as the child would be biologically related
to them.
None of the five women The Straits Times approached who used egg donors was willing to be interviewed.

Hi... New here. I will like to join in the WA chat too. Been TTC on n off for years and age is catching up. Looking for support n information. :)

I’ve been taking folic acid tablets (off shelves) since yesterday. After taking, Ive been having a mild diarrhoea. Anyone has the same encounter?

Anyone here have fibroid and/or ovary cysts.

Hi,
I did not experience this. In fact, I’m having the opposite because of the other medications I’m taking. I sure do wish that folic acid has the diarrhea effect on me. :(

I think it’s not good to have diarrhea when taking folic acid? I check with the pharmacist, she told me probably I’ve to change a brand

There’s a brand for folic acid? I merely took the ones I got from the hospital pharmacy. Brandless. Cheap cheap. Like less than $2?

Yes! I took that too. But seems like it’s not suitable for me. I just stopped for a few days. Gonna try taking it again, as advised from the pharmacist. If it happens again, I’ll have to change another type of folic acid. Which mg is lesser than the off shelves type

I see. Just check and make sure that it’s the sufficient dosage recommended by your doctor.

Hi all,

I have missed my period for 2 weeks and my last period was on 23/9/2019. I used pregnancy test on 4/11/19 but tested negative. Could it be too early to test? My period is always quite regular and this is the first time being so late. I have ttc for 4 years till now and I don't wish to have another disappointment again. What should I do? Should I make appt with gynea to check or wait for another week???
