yeah..they wanna go back play water n get stickers from teachers..haha...

i hv to accompany them for 3 days.. so today until fri i join them in sch. next monday my dad will ferry them to n fro cc.

they had breakfast n lunch there today! its such a breeze to hv them eat there!! my trio hv anti bread for weeks... today all ate plain bread like its v yummy. my fussy girl self feed her lunch n finish in 20mins! track record. all finish their lunch within 30mins. never happen at home.. they had chicken soup, rice and veg. they ate like so yummy.. i tried d food myself.. i think d ones i cooked at home is more tasty..LOL..

Pandawife
Your trio look so cute in their uniform. Looks like they suddenly have grown up. The real test is without you around, but with 3 of them together, there is comfort from each other. I remember I got recalled so many times to take #1 home when she was first in cc...haha. Now she is enjoying school so much that on some days when school ended for the day, still don't want to go home.

Panda
Wow.. Cc looks fun mann! So many activities...
And yr trio can eat well there... Means cc is a good choice.
Makes me kind of assured to send my girls there next yr..
happy.gif

So far how u find the cc as compared to staying at home? Its only lots of playing or there is teaching also?

Bubblybear, yes! I see them in sch Oso feel they hv suddenly all grown up! I m trying my best to let them hv lotsa fun these 3 days. We play laugh sing n eat.. Hopefully things don't get too ugly when I m not there on Monday. But d teacher did request if they reAlly fuss alot, for me to send my helper over ..coz she dont want them to cry too much. At d same time she don't want me there coz d kids will stick to me.

Baby, it's v different type of learning compared to at home. The pro of my teaching at home is I giv them one to one attention.
In cc 2 teachers to 10 toddlers. The positive side is the kids learn to b more independent n Oso learn how to share n get along. The other benefit I see is the teachers r trained to conduct many short activities one after another for them. At home I can't keep up w the energy ...

They hv story time, music song n dance, phonics, coloring, etc etc.

Hi mummies, been a silent reader here. Any mummies here tried to conceive number 2 on a second course of fresh ivf cycle? How did u folks cope while managing an active toddler? Conceived my little gal via ivf and she's now a bubbly 1.5 yr old.. No frozen embbies so thinking of embarking on a fresh cycle in jan to try for number 2.. Thinking of the logistical planning and challenges now with number 1 being the sticky pudding that she is. Any mummies here can share your experience?

Pandawife
Yah, we can't be there all the time, they have to get used to not having mummy all the time. Last time, my #1 always have problems when comes to sleep time, its always the time she will fuss, just don't like the envt there. Some days she gets by not sleeping at all in cc, or her nap time is super short, on and off I pop by to peep at what she is doing. Pity the teachers, they can't rest as they got to be with her while the rest of the tots are sleeping.

Val Lee
I would say, just bite the bullet and go for it. Of course, just managing 1 kid is a breeze, with 2 there are challenges at times, but you will manage somehow. Not sure if u are a SAHM or WM. For me, prepare to send #1 to cc before #2 came along, which is also about the right time for #1 to learn to be more independent.

pandawife
ur cc is good, at least they let u spend the first few days with ur trios. mine didn't, my boy really cried like mad at the start, made me feel really bad then.
i can imagine it is a load off you, coz really not easy for u to handle all 3 alone, but u just did a wonderful job for the last 1+ years!
gosh how time flies! its time to think abt their 2nd birthday celebrations already!

grumpus
wanna ask you if u got experience on this... my boy gets mossie bites from school, after tat he keeps scratching it. its like never healing. i tried to put plaster to stop him from scratching, but is hard for the wound to dry up. without plaster, he will scratch. what cream do u use for mossie bites to stop the itch and help heal?
btw, what face sunblock hv u tried that is good? i ususally the banana boat but dont quite dare put on face...hahahah.
body lotion? dont know why my boy skin is so dry. my PD gave me samples of Physiogel cream, not too bad but once dont apply, will be dry again

Gan
grace started full day cc? finally my boy has stopped crying in the morn already! yeah after 6 long months! u shifted? your area got playground? if not, you can come over my place, there is once behind longhouse.

Val

I did fresh cycle for #2 when #1 was 2 yrs old. it's really quite manageable. for 2ww i stayed at my mum's so meals n laundry r settled. but I still send my girl to classes n climb up n down her 2 storey hse

happy hippo
I hv an antibiotic cream from pd for mossie bites. I apply at night before they sleep but really hv to stop them scratching before it will heal properly.
yr boy has mild eczema? prob change his body wash? n must moisturize daily. my girl uses cetaphil restorederm body wash n QV moisturizer. moisturizer is 2-3 times daily.

happyhippo
U must moisturize your boy daily, in humid country like spore, skin should not be so dry. My kids skin is dry here and #1 has ezcema too. But when they go back to sg, they don't get dry skin and no ezcema flare-ups too. I need to moisturise the kids here like mad and still get flare-ups esp. winter.
For sunblock, I use sunblock for 'sensitive' skin, mild enough for use on the face. But if want to spend more can go for more expensive brand.
I'm also using cetaphil restorederm and also QV bath oil together. I also tried QV moisturizer.

Val Lee, I went for FET when my girl was 8months. When she was 1year old, i did another round of SOIUI (convert to IVF) but didn't make it. Retrieved 20 eggs but only 1 transferred. Egg quality was bad.

I still manage my #1... Do housework, laundry, ironing. Let her sit/jump on my tummy. 2WW was stressless and a breeze. I realise my problem is not with having to manage #1 but my health is not in tip top condition.

Anyway I started seeing dr Loh in July this year. Scheduled for SOIUI for sept this year. But I called n postpone to 2013 (will start aft CNY). My girl will be 26months then. Ideally when your #1 is 24months, I think it is a perfect time to start. Your #1 should be busy picking up new words from now till 2years. I am sure u don't want to miss out that.

bubbybear
my girl is the opposite! she gets flare ups cos of sweat. when we go aust her skin is very good! no flare ups. in sgp evey few weeks flare up

happyhippo, i always thought this first 3 days thingy is common practise is all ccs. i just survived 3 days w 3 clingy kids there!! i must say its really v tiring! more so than at home coz in a new environment n w new pple..they are super duper sticky n clingy! i cant even pee coz once i attempt to leave d room they start screaming!

but its v v good time to understand what they will b doing in school, bond w the teacher and also to brief her on the patterns of my kids.. definitely time well spent!

Hi Bear, Faith and Grumpus

Thanks for the feedback. I have low ovarian reserve and the advise from my gynae was not to drag for too long before trying. Plus, i am 34 going to 35. Time may not be on my side with my condition. I am intending to embark on the next cycle ard CNY period. Probably will be like Grumpus - to stay at my mum if i need help with my sticky pudding.=) Wishing for my 2nd fresh cycle to be as lucky as my first tho!

Happy, grace is still on1/2 day, changing her to full day next year. She has been falling sick so often that every month, 1/2 the month she is home but she isok with school, seldom cries when we drop her there. I injured her big toe very badly on Tuesday , her toe is bandaged so she is home now.

We have a playground at the place we stay. =) but need to get used tomnew place as itnis so far from town....everyday traveling will be stuck in jam.

Ur boy's cc does not apply insect repellant when they r outdoors?

Happy, speaking of mozzie. My girl first day in cc got 5 big swell of mozzie bites. She was wearing d uniform dress and teacher spray n apply repellent. Din work well. Aft tht I spray at home before going. And dress her in leggings. When in sch teacher spray again. I also pass them a bottle of lemon grass spray to us on their clothes. The 2 subsequent days no more mozzie bites for all 3. Need many layers of protection.

Pandawife, 5 mossie bites sounds scary to me. Did she get it from the outdoor play? I also notice your #1 always got bites on his face, compared to Linus. Lol.

Just faith, indoor is ac. I suspect from outdoor coz they were outdoor for 1 hour. D mozzie probably feasted on char n drop dead. Lol!
Lucas not mozzie bite now. It's an allergy rash n he kept scratching it until become a big red mark ! This boy v sensitive skin. Can b allergic to dust! I hv hard time keeping everything clean at home so tht he won't flare so often. But even harder when we r outside to prevent it from happening..
Linus skin not so sensitive compared to d other two. His skin color also slightly different.. Not as fair as Lucas n Charlotte. ; )

He go cc 3 days teacher super sayang him. V funny.. She kept looking at him. . Even during nap time look at him n tell me "aiyoh, Linus even sleep also so cute n handsome !"

Pandawife, my hubby saw the video Linus play with water. Keep saying my girl's behaviour also like him. Lol. He watches the video two times. Lol

Is mosquito patch useful? I bought but never use before. My girl never kena mosquito bite. She will scream ants, ants when she see insects flying around. Lol.

grumpus, bubblybear
thks! will give cetaphil restorederm body wash n QV moisturizer. i guess can find at watson/guardian ya? wow must apply 2-3 times daily. i applied only once hehee. me slacker.

pandawife
no leh my boy's cc didnt allow us to stay first 3 days. thinkg back, must hv been tramatising for him, sighhh hope it didnt scar him for life!
yes i also started putting mozzie patch on my boy. i also put in extra for teacher to put after they shower/change him.

gan
yes the teachers got apply repellent when go outdoor. come to think about it, its like everyday morning got outdoor, eveyday got spray insect repellent....hmmm not sure if good for skin or not.
wow grace is gd, no cry. oh dear, how did she hurt her toe?

Happy, I didn't know grace was behind the door and opened n knocked into her toe....the toe bleed n the nail got 'lifted' up... Very painful. Went t see dr twice, to make sure she is ok.
Was my fault........too careless

I asked d cc teacher about patches. She says also not 100%. There r kids in class who uses it n still got bitten. I got spray repellent for hands n legs. Lotion one for face. Plus a lemon grass spray to spray on their clothes.

happyhippo

cetaphil restorederm can only get at hospital pharmacies.
hv to apply moisturizer after every bath or wipe down or swim. cos tats when the skin loses moisture.

there's no 100% way to stop mozzie bites. patches r effective when they're small. as they grow taller the patches dun protect their limbs. I use California bb mosquito spray. not too bad but hv to always re spray. my elder used to get bitten quite badly too in sch. now I put a bottle of California bb spray in her bag n she gets sprayed before outdoor play.
still the occasional bite but nothing too serious la

Happy, since u mentioned high grade, why don't you bring him to clinic? Check his weight so much correct dosage can be given. In clinic, they give the orange syrup. Think it's brufen.

Gan
My small girl also hurt her finger when she place her hand at the door and my elder girl close it... Even putting the door stopper does not prevent this from happening.. I got a huge shock when i saw her finger.. One of the nail totally came off and i saw bloody flesh... I didnt bring her see pd.. I put those traditional blue lotion, "green grass oil" etc... Now much better...

Oh dear baby......She must have cried very badly...what is green grass oil? We sent her to kkh a&e, then Thursday we went to the specialist clinic. She even had an xray of the toe at kkh a&e.

Is the nail growing now? How do u protectnthe are? Do u bathe her?

I m very scared to wet her wound n I wrap her foot in plastic bag when I bathe her. Her nail has not drop, but the lower part of the nail is purple in colour

grumpus
Really, I prefer to live in spore, so I can be lazy, no need to apply moisturiser. Same, during the colder months, like every month also flare-up. Stop and start again. Sigh, you get something one way or another no matter where you live.

Have you found any product that you think is particularly good ?

I have not found something that I would swear by. Just hoping the warmer months would last longer...

happyhippo
Its usually nurofen and needs Dr's script to get at the pharmacy in spore. If high grade, bring to clinic and request to get some pessary type fever meds at the same time, can stand by for future use(*touchwood*). These are usually very effective.

Grumpus how do u teach ally to spit out during brushing? I am usig those toothpaste that can swollen n I think it taste good Coz my gal always suck and swollow instead of spitting

grumpus, justfaith, bubblybear,
thks, fever came down, but down with phlegm cough. went see pd just now.
blurr me, forgot to ask pd wat we shd do when high fever. coz wkend rush to hospital also quite tramatising, long wait. I just gave paracetomol, drink more water to hydrate, cool bath. wat else shd we do?

Gan
Its some chinese medicated oil. Call 青草油... I also put this when i have cuts myself... I didnt wrap my girl finger cos wana let it air and i believe will heal faster... I bathe her as usual thou she will whine and refuse to shower...

The nail is still attached to the bed of the nail.. I think i will let it drop off on its own or let the nail outgrow it. Its alrdy 2 days since she hurt her finger.. Now so much better.. She didnt complain of pain and uses her hand as per normal...

My girls alrdy know how to spit out water when brushing teeth.. I put water in her mouth and ask her to puke out.. I demo a few times for them... My elder even knows how to sort of gargle the water inside her mouth before spitting it out.

bubbybear
for winter I use this olive balm from Margaret river olive oil factory. u shd check it out. their products r pretty good. can order online
http://www.oliveoilsoapfactory.com.au/

Gan
I use the swallowable type of toothpaste too. just hv to keep reminding cannot swallow n let them learn to rinse too. aly is not very consistent too, sometimes she is able to spit out but sometimes she still swallows. I remember my elder took until almost 3 before she was consistent in not swallowing

Gan my kids also eat d toothpaste n kept asking for more! I ask them spit they eat it Liao then spit saliva. Lol

Haiz.. Charlotte down w fever today already. Exactly one week in cc fall sick. Suspect it's viral fever. She is more prone to it than d boys.. Today she will go my parents place and d boys continue w school.

Panda
Aiyo yr girl down with fever ah... Thats the problem with cc... But cant avoid hor... Just got to give time to build up immunity..

Hows yr work? Better than sahm? Or u miss staying home with the trio? Did yr trio cry when they are dropped at cc?
Eating and napping all ok?

Grumpus
Will check it out, I've never come across it...haha..living here so long. Will it leave a scent of olive oil on the body ?

Panda
Its just the beginning... Just due to spore weather, wet and damp and in air-con room mostly, bacteria breed easily . My nephew in spore, its a common thing that sometimes he is home for 2 weeks in a month without attending cc.

Baby, char fell sick partly coz not eating well. My trio now not sleeping well at night coz adjusting to new routine. So every morning in cc when it's lunch time they r tired n cranky. So teacher just giv them milk n some snacks I pack from home.

Going to work has alot more freedom. I hv time to sit down for proper breakfast n lunch. Lunch time can also run errands and do some shopping. I think d kids r better off in cc then at home w a pek chek mummy tht keeps screaming at d maid. My maid still blur .. She always hv timing problem. Dunno how to assess situations. Like she will come n ask me which cloth to clean what when my kids r screaming n I n tryin to pacify them. Or like this morning I rushing to work she come n tell me Charlotte milk bottle for cc the label peeling. Charlotte not going to sch today. She knows. And she could hv told me last night or tonight. I ask her she says she scared she forget. Them write down lah!! I told her many x. Write down if can't remember.

bubbybear,
haha my mum found this place during one of her explorations of margaret river. she bought one tin of the balm and found it to be very good. now we all hv a tin, and this time round i bought one for my mil too!

the balm does leave a faint scent but its pleasant smelling and not very strong

Panda
I guess the kids need time to adjust to the new routine.. Hows char? Fever down?

Talking abt maid... Hai.. My this maid come less than 2 mths complain abt tooth pain.. Then ok liao.. Comes leg pain.. Say so pain till cannot work. Just brought her to see dr.. Spent $40... Tell me at home she dont do hsewk.. Here too many work so leg pain. Sometimes really dont knw whats wrong with these maids... They tot they can just work little and get paid more???
I told her all maids in sin is the same. Got to do hsewk, cook and look aft kids... She is not the only one.. Want to earn more $$ then be expect to work more. Its a fair world. Work more earn more. Face problematic maid adds up to the alrdy tiring work.

Dear mummies, I'm a reporter from straits times. We're looking to feature a range of mums to be, for a year-end report on your hopes and aspirations for baby due in 2013, preferably with a story which can inspire and encourage others trying for a baby. Pls PM me or email me at [email protected] if you don't mind being interviewed? Can also pass the word around, Thanks!

Baby, yes my kids need time to adjust to the routine. My 2nd boy past 1 week every night super sticky to my Hb. Keep waking up cry n wants my hb koala him! Poor hb hardly slept..
We feel tht he is insecure w the changes. Cc teacher also says its a transition stage. Once he settle down in sch will get better.

Maids!!! I find that pinoys generally can't take hardship compared to Indonesians. My previous indone maids even wake up at night to help me never say they r tired. Day time I ask them to go n nap they also tell me no need. My pinoys never wake up at night at all can tell me they r tired only doing chores!
I m really looking forward to the day I can be without maids leh... But it won't be anytime soon coz I wanna spend time w the kids after work. If no maid means I hv to do all d chores n prepare all their things.. Now w d maid she can help my parents feed n bathe them aft sch. I knock off just pick them to back for quality time. For now it's a good arrangement ..

Panda do you need to work late? I tend to work late.... N till now I dun trust my maids to prepare my gal's stuff so every night I packed her bag to school n my mum's place n prepare the milk powder. Quality time during weekdays is to put her to bed which I do daily. But that sometimes drive me crazy Coz my gal can toss n turn for more than 1 hr

Packing etc I wld do when my gal sleeps

Gan, you need to be in the room when she is still awake? Grace is prob 2 now?

I had to go thru 1-2hrs constant bringing (prob 30 times or more per night) my elder son to bed when we moved him to a toddler bed for the 1st month. After which was a breeze. Nevertheless, we push back his bedtime to 9pm n do a series of activities w him; bedtime ABC and number w his dad, storybook reading and lastly songs. And I will jus switch off the lights, tell him I love him and ask him to slp ok? Which he will always answer ok. And then I will leave the room. He may still toss and turn but will not get out of the bed...

To add on, he is always very active at night, ESP when my hb n I are at hm. So i think our wind down activities tt take ard 30-45minutes help.

He will slp within 15mins

Soon to be grace is turning 2 next month and she sleeps late nowadays 10pm to 11pm. I have wanted her to sleep early but she seems to sleep later n later. She is used to me around as we sleep in same room. In fact lately when shE doesn't sleep I'd leave her in the room after I gave her enough 'warning' that mummy is leaving the room. She wld cry very badly when I leave and usually within 2 mins I will return as I dun want her cry so much. My usual bed time activity is to chat with her awhile and then pat her to sleep. Will be movnh her to her own room this weekend. think will sleep w her before letting her sleep on her own as it is new environment

Panda
Ya lor... Philp maids really too good life in their hometown.. Come here not used to taking hardship.. Work abit complain.. Pain here pain there...
Now after nearly a week still say leg pain.. Say medicine doesnt help at all.. Only when sitting down or sleep then no pain... Duh... Feel like screaming at her.
I spot her many times when we not around.. She just anyhow mop.. Mop living hall and kitchen only take 5mins.. One time mop everything.. Didnt rinse the mop.. Despite me telling her many times must rinse often else not clean... All fall on deaf ears..

I also wish i can dont need a maid... Im thinking if this one cannot improve then when next yr come.. I may forgo having one.. But that means i got to do chores and cook and handle the girls myself... Hmm

Gan
I too zz with my girls... I find it ok as long as they can fall zz on their own.. No need to carry or pat.
I have move my girls to toddler bed.. And now they are sleeping together each on their own bed in the same room...
I will give them bottle of milk.. When finished, switch off lights and tell them nite nite.. Both will toss and turn and fall zz... Then after they zz.. I will then leave the room and do my own activities... Their bed time is usually 8plus pm.
