For my second cycle last year, Dr Tan and the embryologist recommended to transfer 2 day-5 blastocysts although we have discussed to only transfer one earlier on. It's dependent on the quality of the blastocysts. The quality of mine weren't that good so they decided that transferring 2 back would give me a higher chance. In the end, both implanted but one didn't developed. We are blessed with a healthy baby. Good to discuss with ur primary doctor about it. Agree with towkayneo that twin pregnancy have risks for both mummy and babies. Need consider very carefully.

I guess depends n the luck 2x I transfer i thought high hcg got chance of twins n can settle once but end up also singleton haha

I went to KKH today and get a progesterone jab. I was very lucky to see Dr Tan. I went to Clinic D and the nurse advised me to go to O&G because Dr Tan had gone for a meeting and he would not be seeing patients in the afternoon. So I went to O&G and took a queue number. But I decided to walk back to Clinic D and wanted to ask the nurse when his meeting would end. I think God wanted me to meet Dr Tan. Just as I was at the counter asking, he walked past and I called out to him. He said he would see me. He then did a scan for me and prescribed me the jab. So thankful that I saw him today.
Lucky u!

Me too! The HCG for my first pregnancy was 1048. I also thought got chance for twins, end up also singleton. Now have to go through it again!

But I think when doctor knows that we are pregnant with singleton instead of twins, he is actually happier for us because he knows that the pregnancy most likely can be carried to full term and there will be less complications for mother and child.

Dr Tan always tells me God has never created women’s womb to be pregnant with two children at one time. The womb has always been meant for one child at one time.

Did you cheekily ask him, whose malfunction when there are 2-3 babies in the woman's womb? :p

Hi tatdecembergal, wow! Yeah our cycle timeline is really the same (almost), except my ET is on 11th April.

Who was the doctor who did ET for you? I requested to do ET on 12th April but was told Dr Tan would be away in Japan for conference. So they said do it on 11th April instead.

How many embryos did you transfer? Did you BFP?

A female doc with short hair did ET for me. I cnt recall her name thou hahaha...but she was very cool and steady.
She gave me the option to transfer 2 D2 embryos on that day or to come back again for 1 D5 blasto, but both me and my HB felt we wanted to have 2 D2 since the chances are the same as 1 D5, so i had 2 transferred. And yes i BFP with HCG beta of 933.3 on 16dp2dt.

My 1st US appointment with Dr Tan would be on 9th May, which is next Wed :)

BTW, did u experienced any cramping/pain after BFP?
I had quite bad cramp/pain earlier this monday night that i woke up from my slp. There was no spotting/bleeding thou.

ooh see...so for D5 blasto they only allow to transfer one now.

Yah i think so. When we asked the doc what she would suggest, she said she would opt for 1 D5 cos she dun like twins lol...cos higher risk and complication. But she said 2 D2 chances of getting twins is less than 30% also. So she let us decide.

Haha all with same explaination. Is the doc Jessie Poon?

Wow! Your HCG is double of mine on 16dp2dt. Mine was only 442.4 on 17dp2dt.

Why is your scan earlier than mine? My scan day is on 11th May, Friday.

So far no cramping/pain. Is this your first pregnancy? If yes, think the womb is expanding to make space for the growing embryos.

Maybe you are having twins?

Seems like all the doctors will tell us they don’t like twins but for people like us who go through IVF to conceive, we want to have twins because we don’t want to go through so many times.

Cos i am supposed to be travelling from 9th (Night) till 16th. So the nurse helped me to slot appointment with Dr Tan before i fly. But I wana check with him if its actually ok for me to travel also. If he advise against it, then will have to forfeit the trip on the spot.

Yeap, this is my 1st pregnancy, not too sure whats going on inside the body also hahaha.. but im trying to assure myself that as long as there's no severe pain / bleeding, i shudnt worry too much.

What support med did they prescribed you? They only gave me folic acid and oral progesterone pills after my BFP.
During the 2WW, i still had the vaginal insert. When i asked the nurse, she said these are the standard med they give until the appointment with the gynae.

Mine is first thaw cycle so they prescribed me Progynova, Crinone gel, and Folic Acid before ET. After BFP, they prescribed me Progynova, Duphaston and Folic Acid. After my brown discharge, Dr Tan prescribed me Utrogestan to insert. So now I’m on Progynova, Duphaston, Folic and Utrogestan.

so far how do you feel?
hopefully our scans will show york sac and positive results :)

Hi

Ehh not true... I transferred 2 D5 Blastocyst.. my dr was Dr Sadhana and she gave me the freedom of choice to transfer 1 or 2... unless some other docs who will push for 1 D5 only... didn’t know 1 D5 = 2 D2 .....

I asked them and they say don't need, just finish tonight one. If Monday confirm preggy, they give oral med. Just upset why the staff outright say I not preggy when nothing has been confirmed. Since ask me to retest, means still got hope right.
I am in the exact situation as you. It’s a lost case but SGH nurses tried to mask it. They ask me to go back for a final BT next Friday, probably to ensure no more HCG and to arrange for the next FET.

How many days post transfer? I Guess as Long as the number increases nicely, should be fine?
13dp4dt... I think lost case... very low at 21.5. The nurse was very secretive about the number over the phone but when I met them, another nurse told me the number. Have to schedule the next scan.

Is it 50 or 21.5? We really cannot control the outcome of the 2ww.. u still have frozen?

21.5. The nurse over the phone gave a rough 50. When I went down, another nurse told me 21.5. So it is lost case. I still have 4 frozen.
But these two transferred were the better ones le.
I think I need to start to remember any conception now is a bonus.

Sometimes it’s late implantation? Dont gv up, there is still hope. Wait for ur next BT&c hw.

SGH have a policy not to disclose the hcg level over the phone. When I asked for my numbers, the nurse only told me good numbers. Subsequent weekly blood test, I only get last week results when I am back for my blood test.

Hi, got ladies who took HL all the way till BT, did u continue HL after BFP? And those with spotting after BFP, did doc give u extended HL?

I was covered by HL all the way till week 13 coz of spotting which ended at week 12. Was on maximum support including progesterone jabs alternate days. Do rest more if you have spotting.. Work can wait.

I see, that was because u were spotting right? 2nd tri onwards no more spotting right? Your employer was ok with such a Long HL?

How about this round? Did u continue ur HL after BFP?

My employer was fine with the HL as long as it is within the number of HL that the employees are entitled to.

I was only given 3 days of HL after ET. After that, I went back to work.

Yup. I know they have that policy of not telling patients. It has been like this since my first Fresh cycle in 2015 which was successful.
I did a hpt b4 my BT this time. Really didnt expect such a lowdown when I got a BFP on hpt. Won’t waste money on hpt for my next FET. Still grieving.... haiz

hi all.
anyone knows around when in the IVF cycle will we know if we will be doing frozen ?
i understand that certain doctors prefer to do frozen.
i personally prefer frozen too because my work will be easier to manage.

i was just wondering if there will be cases where if i am put on fresh but due to ohss symptoms i am suddenly switched to frozen ?
roughly when will i be informed of this switch?

sorry for many questions but it is because my boss is the one who prefer to be pre empted ~.~

i am now with prof wong at nuh.
i am very new to ivf also. not done any before.
my case is slightly different because i need to control my thyroid levels first.

anyone of you have similar kind of boss ? :p

tia~

Prof Wong has no preference to do frozen.

Are u at the stimulation stage already? If u have a lot of follicles (like 20 over?) during stimulation, then you will be at risk of ohss.

Otherwise prof usually will go ahead with fresh transfer

thats very helpful.

i will be checking my thyroid with thyroid specialist soon. so it is during then that i will know if i can have the green light to start with ivf.

for now, not even on any ivf medication yet.

Hi, did my FET on 24 Apr. BFP on HPT... now waiting for blood beta tomorrow... hoping to have good numbers. Failed 2 FET already & my 2.5yr daughter from fresh cycle.

Dont think KKH has issues with transferring 2 5-day blastocysts. I was offered to transfer 2 by Dr HH Tan... but my frozen embies didnt survive except 1 blastocyst.
