IVF/ICSI Support Group

Hi ladies, would like to get your feedback on natural vs medicated FET. I’m scheduled to do FET in Aug, still waiting for AF. I could not do fresh transfer for my second cycle because of high progesterone. My KK doc recommended me do natural FET with letrozole to help me ovulate as she said medicated FET has more medicine and if I bfp, I’ll need to take medications until 12 week. Is this true?

I have been reading that natural FET is more stressful due to need to catch ovulation window. Hence I feel like calling KKIVF to ask to change to medicated cycle.

But on under hand, I’m unsure if it’s good to have so much medication. I am a Hep B carrier (monitored regularly by my liver specialist) so my worry is taxing my liver too much. After each fresh cycle, my liver values become high because of all the hormone injections and it takes a few months for the values to return to normal again. :( Before I embarked on my second fresh cycle my liver specialist gave his support as he said the liver situation is manageable.

Am I worrying too much about everything? My AF will come end of Aug so I still have time to decide.
I've not tried natural FET b4. Like u said natural need to keep scanning to catch ovulation, if no ovulation or missed, then need to cancel.

I thought after ur embryo transfer for natural cycle also need support meds? Like crinone, duphaston, progynova till BT and continue for 12 weeks? Not too sure, maybe ladies who did natural FET can help

I did a natural FET with letrozole, but not with KKH. With letrozole it's more predictable so likely less tracking to do than entirely natural. Took a trigger shot to 100% ensure ovulation occurs when we wanted it to. But even then with this supposed natural route, support meds are needed till 11-12 weeks.

Hi ladies. Just transferred a grade C blastocyst today. Anyone success on grade C blastocyst? Understand that it is of the lowest grade for blastocyst.

Hi there, just to share my experience. I have been following this thread as a silent reader for the past mths.

I only managed to retrieve two eggs. Only one made it to blastocyst on day 5. And on day 5, I did the transfer then I asked the embryologist the grade, he mentioned that the grade was C. On 12th, I tested positive on pregnancy test because on my beta blood test was scheduled on 13th... As I wanted to mentally prepared myself before blood test.

:) Good Luck to all!

Hi

I did a natural FET last yr. initially, my then doc in kkh ordered a medicated FET and I had to take progynova. However I was allergy to progynova. after taking it for 3 days, I developed rashes. Doc almosted wanted to cancel the FET but I negotiated with him. I asked him if I could try natural FET. In the end, I went ahead with natural without letrozole cos it was already too late to start letrozole.
Yes, I had to report to KKIVF for scanning every 2 days and to test for ovulation. Luckily I was able to ovulate on my own and did a D5 transfer.
All the best to u.

I did a natural FET with letrozole(2.5) last month. First scan was done on CD8 then again on CD12. As follicle already reached to an optimum size , I had to visit kkh every alternate day and urine test almost everyday to monitor LH surge. Once I got positive urine test, I was scheduled for ET on 7th day for D5 blastocyst. After that I was on crinone gel support until BT. Then I was switched to duphaston as BT turned to be positive. I am with KKH and now 6wks+ pregnant. As per my last doctor visit on 6wk, I was asked continue duphastone for two more weeks. If I spot any bleeding afterwards then doctor will prescribe more duphatone.

Thanks all for sharing. I think I’ll try letrozole FET.

Congrats! The experience you shared is useful, now I know what to expect at KK :)

I had to abort 2 natural cycle because I was not able to ovulate or follicle suddenly became smaller ♀️ though I had normal cycle. So I chose to do medicated after that. My first medicated had failed hence I wanted to try natural cycle but after 2 aborted cycle, I had to choose medicated. Both failed; one included spotting the next day after transfer.. it was quite devastating experience. Hence I tend to disagree that frozen fet is better. Which is why it led me to 2 more fresh ivf cycles which I had a miscarriage from one of the cycle. No more fresh cycle for me, I am on my last medicated cycle. Not everyone would be the same. See how your body respond and decide accordingly.

We all have a story to tell. Some are fortunate to have one on a shorter journey, some are blessed with one after a longer journey while some don’t regret because all has been tried.

This is also my last fet with a single embryo. It’s time to close chapter and move on. It has been 8years, 5 fresh cycle, 5 fresh transfer, 2 fets, 1 kid and 1 miscarriage. Hoping the best for this.
All the best. I keep you in my prayer

I'm gg for my first scan tomorrow, just wanted to ask the ladies who's been thru the process after egg retrieval are we able to resume norm even though we are on 3 weeks HL? Are there any side effects post egg retrieval that requires bed rest etc?

Unless have OHSS if not its alright. U going for fresh transfer after the retrieval? If yes then can take HL till ur BT. If not after my transfer I just rest a day and go back to work after that as I'm doing FET

Thanks for the reply! This is my first ivf cycle and per the briefing seems like will be fresh transfer after retrival.

I did not have to bed rest after my retrievals. I had some bloating but manageable. Drink lots of fluid as it helps to relieve the bloating.

Hi all~ Im new here! Today is my first day of stimulations. Husband and myself are very excited to be on this journey.

We have been married for 8 years, had 2 ectopic pregnancy which led to the removal of both of my fallopian tubes. Which is why we are left with IVF to have babies. :)

Our pre-checks are very good (according to doctor, we could have conceived naturally without a problem) BUT OF COURSE I AM MISSING ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT REPRODUCTIVE ORGAN.. lol

Anyway, good luck to all of us!

Thank you for your encouragement. This is 3rd I am having single embryo transfer. Previous time was bfn. I just had to go back for every single embryo so it took this Long to do the transfer.. have some faith and be happy and whatever may be.. closure is in sight :)

Work as per normal until ER. If you are doing ET after retrieval then hosp leave until BT.

If you do not have OHSS, usually fresh transfer but this depend on the do you go to , what he believes In. Some doc believes in frozen transfer and some is neutral and will transfer anyway as Long no ohss or issues with womb during stimulations. I had more success with fresh transfer personally but I would say this depend person fo person. All the best on your journey.

I had a more upsetting fresh cycle last year.. like the very first ivf cycle I went through in 2012. 1 embryo transfer. Comparing the both experiences, I am more at peace in this cycle ha! One could just do whatever on one part, eventually there is only One who can give life so I respect that He can only give the best whatever the outcome :)

Hi ! To all my sisters! Now I am waiting next month to do hysterscopy remove polyps ! The doctor said must do blood test one week to check my body condition first ! Feel nervous ! Once after removal my polyps should be soon start doing IVF !

Sorry may I know what is ER and ET stand for ? Bec next month I will remove polyps first , then maybe will to do IVF soon. Doctor didn’t gave any briefing yet , so I quite new to this IVF process . Praying to God blessing one baby I am contented already .

Hi no need to take leave or mc to do the injections. Usually do it at home b4 u head to work.

Save your leave and mc for better use after u get preg!

ER = egg retrieval
ET embryo transfer

May God grant you the desires of your heart

This really made me smile and have hope.. thank you!

Glad it made you hopeful.

I don’t know your stand but because for this reason, there is no need to overstimulate yourself and have many embryos which you will end up not using them. Each of them is highly a viable baby in your case. Think about it ya.
