IVF at NUH--feedback pls

Thanks Bluenosebear & Mitzi! Next critical milestone for me is to scan for presence of yolk sac and maybe detect heartbeat next wk. Only when I hv nailed these 2 will I believe I'm truly pregnant.

Different TTC stages have different obstacles to clear. Whatever stage we are at now, let's all jiayou together!

Oh yes! I have one observation to share: 

When I did ER and ET in NUH, I asked for multiple bed ward since I would only spend a few hours there. 

But on both occasions, I was given a free upgrade to pte ward simply because bed space in the common wards were all taken up. I think this has got to do Nuh being a govt hospital - the demand for common ward would tend to be higher. 

Sistas who are due for ER/ET maybe can try your luck? : )
 
Hi anne: you were really lucky to get free upgrade leh. But it's true that single bedded ward was quite empty. maybe next time can try our luck. hee...
 
Hi i wanted to do the menses D2-3 scan i called to try to make an appt yet they say no slot to sqeeze me in and ask me to come back next mth i do not want to drag any of the test as i want to get it done asap. Is there anyway i can do? any advise? TQ
 
Hi piky, have u registered for ur cycle w CHR yet? If yes, they would advise u to call CHR when u menses start, then arrange u for D2 bt n scan with a time slot. If u call the NUH women's clinic appt hotline, they will prob tell u no more slot. So u better call CHR to arrange.

Which dr u see? Have yr dr decide which protocol for u? Can i know what is the reason u going for IVF?

I will see Dr PC Wong and they have recommended long protocol. what about you? When do your start your first set of shots?

Hubs and I tried to conceive naturally without success and tried 5 rounds of IUI which failed. So we decided to go for IVF.

But so many injections! Do you have any children already?

i'm seeing Prof Wong too.I have done my blood test and going to see Prof Wong next week for my blood test result and he will decide which protocol for me.Btw,this will be my 2nd IVF as previously done a failed IVF at KKH.Do u mind to share what make u tried IUI? For me,the reason i do IVF coz of my hubby sperm's issue.I dont have any children yet...haha,yes it is so many injections and by the time u will get used to it.

my hubby went for biz trip so I tagged along for a sort holiday. Melbourne is a nice city. Now is winter, weather is nice too, cooling and still got a bit of sun. it's really good to get away from the working life here. But I naughty din control myself, had icy beer and wine in Mel. really good keke

?How's ur preparation for ivf in Aug? I still haven registered yet. still undecided when to try again.
 
Hi mel,i went to see Prof Wong today and get all my blood test report & hubby SA report.Prof decided to use short protocol for me.I havent decide which month to do IVF as Prof schedule are very tight,he will on leave most of the day of Sept,few days on Oct,few days on Nov and most of the day on Dec, if i do on Aug cycle then by the time ER & ET will be IVF lab closing time,so i have to count my menses day & plan properly to meet Prof Wong's schedule. I will let u know once i decide...

Hi mel, something to add... Prof wong told me my cycle called cetrotide protocol. Are u the same as u mentioned prof Wong going to do short protocol for u? This is my first time heard this terms....haha
 
hi lavendar, thanks for the update. yes i was on cetrotide for my short protocol. If im not wrong, it's a diff med which is similar to suprefect to supress and prevent natural ovulation.
any idea when is lab closing time?
 
hi mel,CHR lab will be close on 29 aug - 9 sept.so we are going to be the same protocol...hehe! I think the short protocol really a lot shorter time compare with long protocol...haha,so will be less injection.
 
Hi. Anyone knows when can we do FET after MC? I didn't do D&C so my "old lining" probably not cleared cos for the month of MC and the following month I didn't get my period but only spots. Today Prof gave me med to regulate for July menses. Initially I planned to do FET in Aug but now I am unsure as July period would still not be natural but med induced. If I do in Sep, Prof would probably not be around... Any advice? Thanks.
 
Hi Lavendar, yes short protocol definitely got less jabs. how's ur preparation and have you decided which month to do?

Hi MelJ: for "clearing" or regulating menses after mc or ivf, TCM is a good choice. have u ever tried it? i read some of the sisters in forum also had this prob and TCM helped. for ur considerations.
 
Hi Mel, sorry for the loss. I also had my MC last Friday and can understand the pain of losing bb. My discussion with Prof was that we should wait for at least 3 months to regularise our menses. It gives rest to our body as well. I am also going for natural mc and planning to do my fet after 3 months. If u decide to go for September cycle and prof is not around most probably Dr. Chew will stand by for him. He is also good, I bfn under him as he was stand by for Prof during my last fet. Yah, initially Prof told me the month of MC is not counted, need 1 post MC period and at least snother one normal period. But today I asked him if it's ok to stick to Aug FET cos I didn't have proper period since May he said can. I return home feeling unassured. And today then I realized he referred me to Dr Fong YF for hysteroscopy. I recalled the bad reviews and am not willing to go to him. So now I am waiting at my gynae clinic to see if he can give me advise on the 'wait' period and if he can do the hysteroscopy for me this month. Call me KS but our reproductive system and embbies are far too precious to be risked for unknown... Will update after I see my gynae.

As for Dr Chew, I really don't know. I have had an injured (bleeding) cervix with an established private ivf Dr previously so I am worried.
 
Melroze, for the last 2 months I did tried TCM to 'clear' menses. This month I even took pineapple and black fungus but still no flow. Today Prof said last month the med did help cos I prob need estrogen

I've checked w my gynae. He said from the ultrasound, I did not ovulate and it showed that I should be on my way to having a period for July cycle. And the med Prof Wong gave me today will regulate my cycle so July will have a period.
He is able to perform hysteroscopy for me but he didn't see a need unless it is to diagnose if I have adhesions/scars in uterus. But he said cos I got pregnant previously, it showed my body can get pregnant, and told me to stay positive and he will review me again end month after my period. As for whether can resume FET in Aug, he said when I do my natural FET, Prof Wong would be able to tell if my body is back to normal again cos if not back to normal, lining etc would not be ready.
 
MelJ: hope everything goes smoothly and ur july menses come soon so that your could plan ur FET accordingly! Jia you

Melj-when I miscarriage, I did D&C, my menses also delayed.
I took Dr Zuo med, & eventually manage to come & regulate back like after 3-4 months, though after D&C, menses was very delayed for next month.
 
MelJ: Any good news on ur menses?

Egg_Factory: how abt giving CHR a call to check out the registration? Think they will advise u to meet prof 1st before registration. btw, care to share what made u decide to change to NUH?
 
Mel: Thanks for the info. Do you know if Prof Wong schedule very packed? Do I have to wait weeks/months just to see him? Not sure how it works as I was with a private clinic.

I am changing coz I have some issues which my current doc said he is unable to help and I heard the nuh doctor knows. Also we spent a bomb after 2 transfers.
 
Ylgoh, prof is a very nice doc. He is straight forward and will gv no promises. So don't loose hope after hearing it. He will do his best. You will be in good hands don't worry.

Hi all may I knows anyone done HSG before? It is really uncomfortable? Need to take any pain killer?
I done blood test today under pc Wong and he ask for do HSG 6-8days after menses. How is the charges for HSG?
 
Ylgoh - I got my HSG done before going to ivf. Its not much painfull. Just like iui. it costed S$ 228 @ NUH. I didnot take any painkiller before or after. Some people bleed a little but for me it was nothing. It is best to get it done at 8th day of ur menses. Most probably doc doing the test will give u fair idea about the result. Hope this helps.
 
Hi, I am new to this thread. previously in IUI forum. I shd be going for ivf in aug if prof wong agree that i go for the short protocal.

Will doc give mc after doing HSG? By the way do you know is there any subsidy rate for doing HSG or those blood test or ultrasound at nuh?
 
Ylgoh, yes he can gv u mc for HSG. Please let them know that u will require a certificate. I am not sure about the subsidy rates. I am not a Singaporean so never thought about it. You can ask chr nurses. They might be knowing.
 
ylgoh-If U want to have subsidy rate, then U would need a referral letter from Polyclinic to be referred to subsidized clinic. Then U would not be seeing Prof. U also cannot choose any Dr.

Hi i'm new in this thread.. Will be doing my first ivf in august.. Seeing prof wong tmr to confirm if i can go ahead as i've had 3 cycles after my miscarriage in april.. After that will get paperwork done at CHR.. Getting a little nervous now.. Went to prof wong's private seminar and he had shown us the needles and syringes for the injections.. I'm kinda freaked out by needles

min81-The needles are quite fine, U will feel more of ant bites.
CHR nurses will be teaching U how to use them.
U would be jabbing yrself or yr hubby?
Think that the jabs will be reaching yr goal of having bundle of joys. ;)

Bluenosebear: I will prob register for Nov cycle too, but my menses likely to be late Oct or early Nov. I scare to have 2ww close to Dec holiday season. if it fails again, my holiday will become sad xmas with tears.
 
I also went to his seminar last sat alone and the needles for short protocol look scary , look long on the slide. The nurse show us the needle , how to draw the chemical from the bottle. It was interesting , too bad my DH can't make it that day .
 


Ya most likely I wld have to jab myself cos my DH was hiding when I jab myself dur the previous 2 iui . I think I am not so scared of gonal f pen .
