IVF at NUH--feedback pls

@Andreanie: LOL! Yes... I believe even those who never heard of the word "Chinese" know more Chinese words than I do (okay, maybe I'm exaggerating a bit... a lot... :p). Sigh... I pity a lot of Aunties who looked at me and spoke Chinese to me, and I had to reply "Sorry, I don't speak Chinese". And then the awkward conversation of determining my race and my inability to speak my mother tongue continued from there. :p

I had my worries before when I decided to stop the support. But Prof Wong said it's okay, which reassured me. No buts, no what ifs... just "okay" with a nod. The only "but" was, "but you must continue with the Folic acid". So, I rented a Doppler instead to hear baby's heartbeat on alternate days.

Same as you, I too took the Duphaston after breakfast and dinner, and changed it to mid breakfast and mid dinner, and also tried just taking one tab a day... Bluek.... Nauseous.... I can't even drink water without feeling so sick.

Andreanie, will you be going for the antenatal programme?

Soulasylum, the blue solution (potassium sulfate) very effective.
I remember i supposed to use it for 5 days but it cleared way before that but i still continued until all the redness disappear.

If what you have is same as mine, then yeah i can't stop myself from garuk2 too. and yes it look like i have skin disease.
i got it on my underarm, bra lines, inner thigh worst.all big big patches.

i will just dilute the solution and use small tower and wipe and wipe myself.

I know know baby movement in week 21. =)

Thanks Vi4n

! I wonder what Dr Anu will prescribe for me, but I will mention potassium sulfate and calamine since each of them worked for both you and Andreanie. I do want these red lobster look to go "sayonara" permanently and not come back, because I really don't think the "red look" is in right now... LOL What you had sounded like what I'm having now... If I don't garuk myself, I'll feel suicidal. It was the PUPPS that you had right? Even the sound of it is making me itchy and want to garuk some more.....

So about 11 more weeks before I start feeling the kick. Wow... so long!!! Lol Is it just me, or the first trimester really feels draggy.....

soul - yes i will be joining the antenatal programme in Jan 2012
happy.gif

how much did u rent the doppler for and at where?
i wanted to rent one cos my next scan is 7 weeks away but hub said no need :S

do you ladies ever heard that ultrasound is annoying to baby? like there is a loud sound for them? I'm not sure about the doppler though.

The dragging period is the 3rd trimester. you will feel like when are you coming out, baby? is it the time? is it contraction? =)

Yes i had PUPPS.

Vi4n - How often do you have to go for checkups and scans after the 20th week? I seriously can't wait for Dec to come.. haizz.....

@Andreanie: Cool! Hubs and I will go for it too, some time after first trimester I suppose. I rented my doppler from this website: http://www.thebabyspecialist.com.sg/ It costs 50 dollars for 4 weeks, I only rented it for 8 weeks. It includes 40 dollars delivery and pickup charges. My hubs rarely said no to me in whatever matter that pertains to the baby. Maybe because I threatened him with, "Do you want this baby to call you Uncle???". Mean?? Well... I call it survival in marriage. LOL

@Vi4n: I might have read about the ultrasound effect on babies, the info is very vague to me right now. So far, there are no evidence showing that Dopplers will cause any abnormalities in unborn babies. But we're advised to be on the cautious side, and not to use it too frequently.

Okay ladies, thank you so much for your advice and also for your time entertaining me here
happy.gif
. I'm going to see Dr Anu now. Will update you on the diagnosis. Ta ta for now!!
happy.gif

soul - my hub doesnt say no to me either if concerning our baby. but for the doppler issue, he said he dont want to add more stress to me. Incase if I tried listening to baby but couldn't hear anything cos baby is not where the doppler is, I'll get kanchiong unnecessarily. Cos he knw i will definitely! Lol!!!

Soulasylum,
That's a good one... hahaha..

Andreanie, I switched to TMC after first trimester screening with Prof approval.
At TMC is every month check up, until 30 weeks i think then every 2 weeks, then 36 weeks is every week.

Not abnormality due to ultrascan.
But the sound of ultrascan is very disturbing to the baby. like it is magnifying the sound of waves

Halo sistas.
Now then I have time to come in, was so busy to rush & finish staff appraisals.
Vi-PUPPS tink only happen in 3rd trimester & I read that it usually happen for baby boys leh.
I'm not sure abt how safe potassium sulfate for the rashes, but calamine lotion able to stop itch temporary.
Soul- I had the hives all over body last Sunday, Which Prof say Maybe is the jabs, so I had stop the jabs last week.
I'm 9 weeks pregnant now.
I went to Nuh emergency twice. Injection Benerjal helps & safe, tablet loratidine helps also.
But injection phenergan & tab priton didn't help initially.
I also found out Bio oil helps to relief itch. I find it much better than calamine becos it moisture skin also.
Jamp- don be dishearten, jia you.
Take the time to tiao yr body 1st

Hi ladies!
happy.gif

So here's the update. Dr Anu can't figure out what is it exactly that I'm having so she referred me to a dermatologist, also in NUH. I'll be visiting what is now my "favourite" place in the world, AGAIN, tomorrow morning. Meanwhile, she prescribed some tablets, which may cause drowsiness and which I'm not going to take at all, and calamine, yay! Got to see my gummy bear though, I was really hoping Dr Anu would give me a scan, heh heh... He/she is doing great, and bouncing actively in there. 27.3 mm, at 9 weeks and 4 days. I wish I could record it on a video... He/she was literally bouncing in there!!

@Vi4n: Magnified sound of waves huh? Hmm.... That might not be so bad, maybe it will be like a vacation in Bali? Plus... I'm sure the baby is bored enough listening to our blood rushing through our arteries. It's like listening to Justin Bieber's "Baby" over and over again... No offense to the Bieb's fans....

@Andreanie: Since your hubs knows you best... Well.... Listen to him then girl!! LOL

Hi Blue!
happy.gif

How are you? And congrats on the pregnancy!
happy.gif

Dr Anu said that it is too early for me to be having PUPPS (is it pronounced as "poops"??? Lol! Interesting if it is). She also mentioned that hives like reaction to Proluton is common, but since I have stopped taking the jabs for 3 weeks now, the cause of my condition still remains a mystery... She did ask whether I'm immuned to Rubella or Chicken pox, which I am... so those were ruled out too.

So, you're 9 weeks?? We're almost the same then! Any pregnancy sickness so far? The Bio oil that you mentioned, it is also used to reduce/prevent stretch marks right? I'll try that too. Thanks a bunch!
happy.gif

Wow, active conversation going on here
happy.gif

I'm busy completing my assignment due tomorrow. I am doing part time studies. So now I know how tough it is juggling studies with a baby
happy.gif

Hope to those mummies-to-be having hives, will get well soon. Part and parcel i guess though I manage to escape that when i was pregnant.

I felt flutering movement when i was about 16weeks. Sometimes, you can just lie down and relax your tummy and ask baby to move, she/he may respond to you. I did that and most of the time my girl responded to me and I will always says "thank u"..hehehe
When you are in 3rd trim, you do not have to ask her/him to move, it will be quite obvious. Sometimes for me her kick is too strong and i can see my tummy jutting out a bit. There were also occasion where she loves to squeeze to either left or right and then my tummy will be lobsided. I did managed to record my baby kicking me and movement on my tummy.

stay happy ladies

Not really lah Blue.
I had started last year so have to just continue but not giving myself too much pressure. As long I pass everything i am happy. Not aiming for high marks.

Su - I hope I can feel him/her next week or so. Now still can't feel anything at all, just gas and some twinges here and there towards end of the day. Not so much aches ard the abdomen yesterday night and today morning also. Somehow feels normal. Can't wait to feel the kicks, twinges and cramps again hahaha...

Andreanie,
Yup i have a girl who has just turned 16 months yesterday and had her first bump on her forehead.

Blue, yeah PUPPS is normally on 3rd tri. but happened to me though i was carrying my girl. Hm maybe that's why my girl is boyish. ha ha..

The blue solution is safe. I used it for this PUPPS and also V infection. and my friend used it too and it is prescribed by a very experienced gynae.

Soulasylum, so another visit to NUH today.
Hope will cure whatever it is.

Yeah the happiest moment during pregnancy is seeing the baby during ultrascan. =) That's why I switched to private other than due to the distance.

Su, you still have energy to study? wow...

Andreannie, now I'm a bit lazy to study but just try n finish it. Try to do whatever I can. I can forsee it's going to be more challenging next yr once I start working. Now, I'm on leave already struggling to do my work. Can only do when my baby is asleep which she hardly sleep day time. My Hubby will take over when he comes at nite so that helps alot.

@Vi4n: Thanks Vi
happy.gif
! Although, I do have an advice for those who are looking for a dermatologist.... NOT in NUH. The waiting time was ridiculously long. I waited for an hour despite having an appointment and overheard a lady asking a staff about the waiting time. I went over to that poor lady and asked her to confirm what I've overheard from her. Apparently, she had waited an hour and a half. So... I did the most sane thing... I left.

And miraculously, my hives has gone away! It started going away last night, after I drank VITAGEN. I read on a website regarding hives, and it stated on the "tips" section on preventing occurrence that pregnant women should consume probiotics. It didn't say that it will get rid of it, but I just thought, hey... what's the worst that could happen? Blue welts?? So, voila! No hives today!!
happy.gif

soulasylum,

Wow.. that's great.. good that you find your cure.
May it disappear forever.. =)

Yeah, Su, I gathered. ha ha..

Good day Ladies!
happy.gif

Thank you for your well wishes!
happy.gif
So far, no sign of it returning. Calamine only worked for 5 minutes. But I don't need it now... All I need is Vitagen! Haha! But I do prefer it not to come back again, ever...

Ladies, I have a question. I was told that my next appointment, which is next Tursday, will be at FCC (Fetal Care Centre). Is that where I will get to hear my gummy bear's heartbeat? Will there be other tests as well?

soulasluym, over there the machine is bigger
n clearer. You can see the heartbeat movement.
If nit wrong can also hear it
happy.gif

Su- able to hear ah?
Maybe when I went the other round they didn't on the sound? I k only see it, definitely clearer than Prof room.
My scan is on Mon, 24/10, also in fetal care. I felt the scan also longer, or maybe sonographer not sure mah.
Su- when will Prof start asking u which gyne to go to?
I'm not sure who to go to. I was thinking Dr Su or Dr Anapoorna (tink tis spelling). I kind of like Dr Su, but need to ask Prof whether she able to handle complications cases, hope he will tell me.

Blue - I hate when doing scan at Prof/Dr Chew's room (they share the same room!). The scan not clear at all! All I saw was a mass of my baby and flickering heartbeat and cannot even print from the ultrasound machine. But I loveeeee the scanner that Prof Biswas and Fetal Care Centre uses. So clear and so real, can print pictures straight from it too.

Blue, by week 12 Prof will ask you abt changing gynae.
What complication do you have?
Not sure if that's the case will prof see you through your pregnancy. Coz when I delivered the other time, j saw him at my ward. I guess he's there to see his patients.

You can consider Dr Su.,I'm with her.
Nice lady. Looks small size but she's got steady hands
when she delivered for me. My Hubby said that when my daughter was out from me, the cord was around her neck but she was quick to remove it.

Andreannie, are you refering to the scan machine in prof/dr chew's room? If so, yes it's small n not clear. I only used that machine till week 9, then was at FCC then I changed gynae dr su used the common machine shared by diff gynae which is located at one of the end, yes that better. Btw they can print from prof room. He printed for me before.

Blue I'll be at emerald clinic too on Monday my visit wif dr su to do pap smear. My appt around 11plus. My girl is also having her injection at main building. What time is ur appt?

Su- touch wood, I don have at the moment.
I mean just incase.
I know Dr Su, becos I work in Nuh before. That day when I went for appt, she was at the front counter & she just smile at me.
I'm not her pt yet, but find her sweet. When I know her, she was only Reg, so that's why I'm wondering......
Appt at FCC is at 8.30, seeing Prof at 9.30

Blue, sorry. Did not intent to say abt the 'c' word. Coz you phrase it in such a way that I misunderstood.

I think so he does some delivery.
I saw him there. Then when I was discharge wif baby, baby needs to admitted again few days later coz of jaundice. She was send back to the ward I stayed. Then mh Hubby saw him there n that was at night. So maybe he will take real special case.

I was send to deliver suite at 12 noon, dr su came like 6plus to check. Then at nite frm 10-11, she was there till I deliver at 2am. Of course she went in n out of the rm
happy.gif

For my case, hubby didnt want to take any chance, he rejected prof's suggestion to do d & c on the spot. We went to see my regular gynae to review our case. We were like playing hide & seek with prof for a few days, I seriously do not know how I survived those few days...it's definitely by God's grace. Prof considered my case urgent as fetal care centre suspected ectopic as well.

My heart dropped when I saw your post, I want to cry, hug hug, Blue...I happen to come in and saw your post that you'll be seeing prof today and some other ladies' posts, wanted to tell you all that the clinic mgr Janet told us prof no longer does delivery...and I saw the sad news before I could post...pls stay strong, ok?

Blue, I'm shocked too.
There isn't any rush to do d&c soon. You may want to go out of Nuh to scan again. That was what I did for my first cycle.
I only did it a week after prof confirm no heartbeat.
Stay strong. We are here for you *hugs*

I went tmc to see Dr Paul Tseng, scan & show same result.
Scan only show abt week 6, Which suppose to be week 10.
So have come to terms already, since from the start is already not very gd signs
Goodgirl- I'm in purple & white top & black bermudas

blue, brave gal, hug hug. You are stronger than me, i'm still having the 'why why why' thoughts till this day...

The process prior to ER/ET is already quite stressful, I didnt know there are still so many hurdles to cross after BFP until I experienced it myself.

This is the 3rd week after my miscarriage, my mum-in-law still doesnt know about it, hubby doesnt want to disappoint her. I tried dressing in tight jeans with big waist belt + high heels but she still didnt get the hint..sigh...

Blue,be strong.
I know no words can ease the pain. I truly understand.
I had gone through that before.
I remembered prof told me to take my miscarriage as a process where god helps md make a decision. It may not be a good one so the development has stopped.
On a brighter side, this shows ivf works for you and you can pg. I can help you pull through this difficult time.

Yes, Su, really need pple like you for inspiration. Fearful after own experience and other sistas' losses too.

Su, can you remember how long you continue to bleed/stain after D & C? I'm still having it, hopefully it's gonna clear up soon.

Jamp, the weird thing when I had my miscarriage is I did not bleed even till the day of d &c.
After the procedure, I bleed like just that day.
After that I only had spotting on off like for 2-3 weeks. Then it went off till I got my next menses.

Su, oh i c...i was spotting from day 12, now almost 3 weeks after d & c still spotting, very tired of these intermittent bleeding...so i suppose 3 weeks still considered normal, relieved to hear that, thanks!
