not doing any treatment at the moment. just seeing dr cheng, so that he can monitor my cycle. actually wanted to to iui when i first see him. but he told me to go on clomid first. already on 2nd cycle now, if by 3rd cycle still dun strike, will want to try IUI...then will alot of questions to ask you gals here.

worried, i see. yes, Dr cheng will ask you to go for at least 2 rounds of clomid. i had that for 2 rounds, the 2nd cycle dosage was increased. have your hb done SA? Dr cheng also asked me to do HsG before my so-iui. not sure whether he will ask you to do one - just to check that your tubes are patent and ok.

rabbit, actually, to be frank, i am not sure how many times one should try. based on info from the web, it's average 3 times.

my dr does not check much prior to so-iui, just need to ensure the womb lining is ok after day 2/3 menses.

i have done hsg prior to my soiui, and my tubes are fine. btw - i already have an 18 months old boy who i conceived via my 1st so-iui.

if thinking to do IUI... when should we see gynea for the very first time? after AF ended? what do we expect on the first visit? pap smear? V scan? pelvic examination? after first visit can do IUI for the next cycle?

i m also thinking of doing iui when i first see dr cheng. but i wasnt allowed to. i think the gynae will first access your condition, if he thinks that there is nothing wrong wif your DH's sperms, and u r alright, he will advise u to go on clomid cycles first. he will most likely not go straight to IUI. thats what i encountered when i see dr cheng. so now on clomid cycle. maybe it differs from different gynae, so u have to check wif your gynae

Prolactin hinders two hormones necessary to your ovulation: follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH). Both are responsible for enabling your eggs to develop and mature in the ovaries, so that they can be released during ovulation. With too much prolactin, ovulation can't take place.

However, you need Prolactin for breastfeeding. It's required to stimulate milk production in pregnant women.

I do not know of any effects from food intake.. but I do know that there's medication to control it.. got to consult doc.. but since your doc say it's not require, den your prolactin level is not so bad until it'll affect your ovulation.

I remember taking DOSTINEX (0.5mg cabergoline) to control my prolactin..

And I was also told not to scratch, rub or massage breast before prolactin blood test.. dun know why.. but everytime I take blood test.. gynae will ask.. u may wan to check with your doc. I think massaging will stimulate your pituary gland to secrete more prolactin hormones..

u r here

gd tt u have the green light from dr cheng. all the best to yr so-iui, rem to call the clinic n ask if u can b the last patient of if they can give u 30mins to lie down on the bed after the procedure so to allow more time for the specimen to flow in. sometimes must request if not they will ask u to get up immediately.

after tt, rem don't do heavy hsework, no heavy lifting including carrying yr dog if u have any and try to eat as much home cook food as possible to avoid food poisoning from restaurants like i did the last time

lastly don't take too "cooling" food. drink warm water n not cold drinks.

i'll pray for u that u'll succeed n have the desires of yr heart this yr

as this is like a few yrs ago, u'll hvae to add roughly2-4k more depending on how much meds u need.

some pp use it for so-iui for first try which only need the most 2k. but govt will consider it first try n there is no refund for the balance 4k. so must use wisely if u think u'll need it in future

these r jus guidelines from moh. u have to read up alittle n try to ask around before u decide what is best for u at this pt.
i'm also doing acu together with ivf cos the seniors who have gone thru it have very gd results n encourage me to do it.

don't mind i ask how many iui inculding so-iui have u gone thru? if yr hubby has low sperm count or morphorlogy than chances r quite slim. tt's y i decided after 1 iui n 1so-iui i wanna do ivf now cos got male factor n also i don't ovulate. better do when i'm younger. but if u have not tried so-iui, then try it. i know of pp who have tried iuix6 n succeeded so it's very individual. hope this helps

2 yrs bk i did my so-iui immediately afer a laproscopy.And i manage to conceive my #1 who is 2 yrs now.and on this year ard july to sept,i did 2 times of so-iui but did not succeed.So was wondering if i need to do ivf.Hb sperm count is normal,but motility is poor.
Gynea did say cysts wont come bk so soon.so she wont be doing another lap on me.

I am thinking of going for IVF towards the end of the year but I heard from nurses that the doctors maybe on leave etc?

normally after laproscopy, it's easier to concieve cos clear the mess inside. however, it may b clogged up again. did u ask yr gynae to scan n c the condition of yr womb? sometimes it could b the quality of the follicle too. cos each yr our quality gets weaker es after 30. how old are u? if mid 30's n above, better jumps straight to ivf, increase chances. if not try so-iui too many times, u may really get discouraged. yr hubby also need to do a new sa test if it's more than 1 yr ago. for guys easy....jus take vits n "dong chong cao" will improve alot...really....it works for my hubby.
if u have adenomyosis, endometrosis or pcos.....u may need some fertility help. if not can try so-iui one last time then decide from there......

hey, at least u have a kid...i'm still struggling to move to the mother's club

ya. dr loh is on leave in dec....tt's y i pushed up my ivf so he can do for me. when u register for ivf, u need to c dr loh to check yr womb , know yr history etc in order to give u the right protocol as everyone has diff protocol depending on our circumstances.

jus call the ivf center n ask when is the date available to c dr loh to do ivf for first consultation.
when u c the dr. do bring along all yr previous scans, records, blood test etc. even hubby's so he can know yr full history. u shld also tell him wat dtimulation drug u use, how many units, do u respond well to it, how many follicle u have. if u have pcos or any probs, highlight to him as well. also drug allegies......t't's all

i heard from the nurse at the clinic that some ppl conceive after lapro, given it helped unblock the tubes. maybe you can check with your RE whether it is worthwhile doing this again?

the jabs for iui shld b rather painless cos it's in low dosage. however if it is painful, u gals can try icing yr tummy area to numb it b4 jab. it really takes away the pain.

put the ice in a ziplock bag so it will not get messy

when i did puregon at 150iu, it was painless. then the 250iu, it was painful so i really needed the ice. plus hubby often hit the blood capillaries so i bled alot at times

been a long break since i last visited motherhood forum. i've jus seen the nurse @ kkh ivf centre to start my 1st so-iui cycle. started 5 day course of clomid today & will start to inject puregon for 5 days frm this friday onwards. due for a v-scan next Wed.

twin - i realised as you jab more, the skin gets tougher, and it can be quite painful. how many days of jabs are you on? for me, about 12 days, mixture of 150 and 225 iu.

tweety, good you are well assured. just relax and do not look at the needle when you jab.

dishearted - how are you? you should be starting your soiui soon right?

i finished 2 wks of lucrin jabs, 1 wk of lucrin n puregon.......so in total 3 wks of jabs! my tummy has small blue black bruises on both side of the tummy where i jab

ivf is tougher than iui...my iui was great, no discomfort etc...only during 2ww, then i felt bloated n discomfort....think if u do the jabs in the morn, it's not as painful, mine is done at night
