Namie, I just checked out the bee, looks super cool! Where to get bungaroo pdts in sg? What do u think of peg perego?

Ming, tks, I will chk out both Bjorn n manduca
happy.gif

Summer, I just did some quick googling on internet, v mixed comments abt cordycep, some experienced spotting so gynae asked to stop. I think I will tk moderately, once a mth from now but skip final mth cos heaty, so abt 3x
happy.gif

On spotting, my colleague asked me this qn the other day cos im expecting boy, she asked if i had spotting in T1 cos she heard of this myth about expecting boy n wana cfm if it's kinda true, i also heard of it but I didnt experience spotting so at first I thot I wld be having girl. Just wondering whats ur experience?

Esther> My sis #1 is Girl, #2 is Boy, both spotting so not true. Mine both Boys both spotting. My SIL no spotting when her #1 is Boy. I think is up to individual baby/body lol..

yep esther,
the price tag is a bit hefty,

but me and wife keen on bee.

in us its only USD 600 lo....
sg easily $1150

but coolness, canopy colour change, mechanism, parosol, takes the cake.

where got?
mother works
mother care in habourfront centre
first few years in paragon

we haven bought yet... (cos warranty issue la...)
from what we researched,
every building only can have 1 shop selling.

Ming: Yes, we're driving up this Sat. I oso agree that Genting looks very dated and tired. All the rides nvr ever change. Oso dunno why my kids like the place so much. I dun like the endless crowds of ppl queuing for rides, restaurants etc. but no choice, just let the kids enjoy themselves and for my hubby to pass his time at the casino too? But I do like shopping at the World of Cartoon for baby and toddler clothes, they usually hv a good selection of Pooh and friends clothes and it's quite cheap compared to Singapore
happy.gif

Was any rides closed when u were there? I read from Genting website that the indoor theme park Gondola ride is closed for upgrading.

Esther: I oso agree with Namie that it's better to hv both stroller and baby carrier cos the baby bag is really heavy with all the baby stuff. And the stroller is really useful when u go shopping, can hang all ur shopping bags on the stroller, just make sure it doesn't topple over from the extra weight
happy.gif

I used the Baby Bjorn Synergy for my #3, it was really good to use till baby reached 10kg, then it became very straining on my back (probably cos I'm petite and thin). But my baby loved both the Baby Bjorn and the MIM baby sling, he used to nap for really long periods of time whenever I used either. My galfriend managed to use her Ergo baby carrier all the way till her gal was abt 3 yrs old.

Summer: I think it's okie to take cordyceps now. The staff from Eu Ren Sang told me we can take all the way till 8 mths or so (twice a mth) and then stop taking it thereafter.

Dear all,

I'll try to send some of the pics. I intend to sell, cos it's very tedious for me to reset the setup especially the electronic rocker & FP rocker & playpen which I hv kept them up for hyiene purpose. I even disinfect them b4 storage.

The others small items I'll tke pics but not for the above I mention. I'll only do the setup when collection demo purpose.

Thks.Your understanding is greatly appreciated.

Hi, haven't come in for.a while. went to langkawi last min for babymoonbut tagging #1 along. maybe another 2 yrs since i travel again!! Hope everything's goingwell for everyone!

Why is warranty an issue?

I was looking at the demo videos didn't seem to see that bee can stand after folding. I like the yellow colour but if I get it, might go for green, grey or black haha.

Was it at the recent baby expo fair n cheaper? Also any GSS offers now? I did a quick search on internet n i think bee only came to sg few yrs ago n a mommy bought at then baby fair for $999. I suppose now might be cheaper cos US$ weaker n technology more advanced, but seems like not true. Yes, the price is hefty, im trying to convince myself it's worth cos it's for #1 now n later maybe #2 can use haha. I need a stroller which is super friendly for public places n transport.

Are u considering other strollers?

Esther & serene, ya.. I read those comments too. So when my mum told me abt cordyceps, I told her nt to buy 1st. Better ask ard and check before taking. Hmm.. As wat everyone said take in moderation shld b ok.
On spotting.. I also had spotting during T1. Gynae abit worried so gave me med till it's gone and asked me to rest more. I'm expecting a boy.. My 1st bb so I'm not sure if it's true or not... Lol.. But I guess sometimes it's more on our body.
Esther, I bought a quinny zapp stroller and comes with maxi cosi fix for newborn bb for $599 at motherhood fair. Quite a gd deal.

may: trying to PM u, but u dun accept pm. =)msg wo okies? u added an order of 纯色(浅粉)月子服
(短袖+长裤) & 点点款月子服 (深粉)(短袖+长裤) total is $31.10/- pls advise if u are still ordering. payments to posb sav 126-93221-9 =D Thanks

The Bee is fixed price controlled by Bugaboo. Mothercare, Motherworks & First Few Years all selling same price. They dun go on sale at all. Not in baby fairs nor GSS or even morhercare own seasonal sale. Cos I tried all means to get it cheap when I bought mine, but to no avail.
sad.gif

Btw I'm mesmerized by the easy wheels of the Bee where I can really push with 1 finger.

Esther: yes it cannot stand on itself when folded. And if u looking for something to bring up/down the public bus, the Bee could even prove too big as it doesn't collapse like a real umbrella stroller. I suggest Maxi Cosi Milan or Peg Perego Pliko Mini, much lighter at 5kg and fully collapsible at one single pull of a handle.
happy.gif
otherwise, the Bee can go in & out of trains pretty easily.

I'm even tempted myself to get a maxi Cosi mila for traveling. I'm a self-confessed stroller junkie. I look and recognize models like how men look at cars. Lol.

Tks summer n Namie. I also like pliko mini n researched n watched e demo b4 but not very sure if it's ok for nb. I think pliko mini is like mini cooper n bee is like spider lol...

Pliko Mini unfortunately is not for newborn, 6 months & up when baby can sit up right. U can go to Mothercare MS where a young lady does a very detailed demo and lets u try. Can't rem her name though.

May: u can try to drink Perrier water to ease heartburns.

hi namie,
nice to know you are enjoying the bee.

hi esther, you should check out the new colours,
Tangerine.

warranty... erm?
if u buy from 1st few yrs, u push back, confirm they will help u tighten screws la or etc...

if buy from amazon, how to push back.

thats what i meant

Good morning ladies.. how are u this week?
I've been bed resting since last Thursday and have to bed rest till end of this week and it is really bored, feel like want to run away from here >.<

Spent 1 day in hospital last Thursday due to continuous spotting, but it is almost gone after eat doctor med and bed rest...

talking abt stroller, me and my hubby is looking for quinny buzz, it looks very strong and comfy and we think to use it for our 2nd kid too later... like investment
happy.gif

Summer: during #1, I took cordycep powder twice a week. Can't take more as very heaty. But it's very good for both baby and mummy.
But now the price increases alot... Expensive!!!

So far I have not take any for #2.

Esther: I am using Baby Bjorn carrier and had 4 strollers (hee!). 2 are from newborn onwards and the other 2 are for older children.
Personally I seldom uses stroller as not all places are stroller-friendly and if u taking public transport, it's very troublesome especially during peak hours. U can wait 7 or 8 trains and still can't get in. Especially with the population now.

I have BF #1 all the way till now, so my diaper bag is not really that heavy. Just set of clothes, diapers and wipes.

<font color="0000ff">Namie:</font> <font color="aa00aa">Yest was hving the very bad heartburn.. 1st time ever.. My hubby bought dinner home for me still hv it.. But surprisingly after dinner heartburn does away.. Which my sis still comment that I can still eat wif the terrible heartburn.. Haha..
Next x will try Perrier water to see if it helps.. Thanks
happy.gif
</font>

Wenty> oh u were hospitalized due to spotting ah..But at least after full bed rest and medication your baby is safe now. Do be careful and bed rest if you still have spotting in future. We are all halfway through the pregnancy, jiayou &amp; take care!

Esther: I would suggest Manduca, Patapum, Beco and ErgoBaby for carrier as they all offers the waist supporting belt whereby baby's weight is seated and distributed to your waist and not on your shoulders. If I'm not wrong BabyBjorn's design has weight pivoted on shoulders. My friend uses Bjorn for smaller baby and she switched to Manduca when baby gets heavier, and never look back!

For me, I'm happy with Patapum. You can try out baby carriers in this quite famous shop in United Square. They will do demos and allow you to try until shiok then buy.

http://www.babyslingsandcarriers.com/

The Bee is $1,149 for chassis plus sun canopy. I used up all my son's 1st birthday gift vouchers to buy and still burnt a big hole of cos. I now become Mothercare VIP member due to the purchase. I'm not sure if Mothercare VIP 10% is excluded for this item, if can you might want to use my membership for 10% discount (just quote my IC or mobile no.) and you will become a member yourself too.

Peg Perego Pliko P3 and Pramette are good too. But I din buy it because the seat seems to have too much fabric that makes me feel it's ultra hot for baby to sit in. But they are very suitable for newborns as it almost converts to a cot! I love their one-hand fold, with just a tug, the whole stroller is folded and free-standing.

Mummywong: Yes my mil made cordycep ginseng chicken soup of me once every 2-3 weeks.

SnU: I tried to order from Amazon US too, but they dun ship to SG. And if I use VPost, the shipping charges is $200+ so total price tag would be $1k. Might as well buy in SG so that you can have it immediately and warranty issue will be solved too.

Or buy 2nd hand, usually abt $750 - $900.

One major con abt the Bee is their accessories are so damn irresistible! I'm already contemplating to get new color sun canopy, cup holder, seat lining and standing board for my 3-week old Bee. Hold my horses...

lol...

Morning all mummies and mummies to be!
happy.gif

Baby, keke.. Ok.. Since it's safe can ask my mum to go ahead with it.. Anyway, it's too ex to drink it too often too. :p

On Bee stroller - how abt quinny Zapp xtra or senz ?
I personally feel combi stroller is equivalent to closing with one hand n one fold stroller ... We are debating bêtw functionality( combi miracle turn ) vs cool looking n brand (quinny sEnz). Quinny Zapp xtra can't fold easily cos need to dismantle the seat first , senz can't roll along easily when closed .
Any advice ???

On exercise - anyone know where offers swimming facility with pre natal aqua class ?

hi namie,

yep, i tried the exact approach too

amazon - rejected
vpost - typed in volume and weight, $300+ shipping and fuel

so now still KIV.

considered b4,
"1st mth party, let out news, all give mothercare vouchers please......"
hahahhahaha

the umbrella nice also right?

we went to visit friends with kids and consulted them about strollers,
thats how we got poisoned.

SnU: I gathered all vouchers and exchange online to same type, for e.g. Capitaland or Frasers so that you can buy from Mothercare in their malls. Then I emptied hubby's and my credit card points to all Mothercare vouchers to save more. In total I saved about $300. If you buy overseas, you can't use vouchers at all.

I din get the parasol as I think the sun canopy is good enough. Unless I bring my son to botanical gardens or marina barrage or the beach, which we seldom. And I think the parasol gets in the way when strolling. Just my preference lah..

U can read about my comments abt the Bee and my other stroller at http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/messages/5453919/7139186.html?1339336634

hi namie,

what you mean saved $300?

or you mean paied $300 lesser in cash
but instead used points and vouchers

anyone gt confinement lady to recommend to me, i been searching and calling. All are fully booked.

However, I understand that Selena's currently busy at the moment, so pls be patient and wait for her return to add u, thanks for ur understanding
happy.gif

SnU: i paid $300 lesser in cash. The rest are gift vouchers from friends and family and from credit card point redemption.

Bee is my first choice initially but price was a little steep that time, near 1.5k. It's gd deal below 1k.
I gotten zapp xtra, it's easy to fold once hands on.

Hi, i'm most likely going to get the combi miracle turn costing around 459 bux.. like the fact that it's easy to move around with it, got reversible handles, and easy to close and open
happy.gif

Aside from this, has anyone gotten baby cots from Ikea? If so, are they stable?

Carrier and/ or stroller:
Namie n Baby, tks so much for advice and Namie, tks for offering ur MC member discount
happy.gif

Based on my research so far, it seems like strollers which are suitable for NB tends to be bulkier. Since it is likely i will avoid going out with baby to public places in first few mths, i think i will get a carrier first, probably Manduca, carrier can also use at home when pottering around the house after confinement period. When baby bigger, may use carrier less to avoid strain on our backs. Only concern with carrier is not sure baby will become clingy and wana be carried all the times and later dont wana switch stroller. Btw, i watched many demo videos last night and i don't seem to see that manduca can be used with baby facing outwards unlike bjorn, any idea?

KIV a few mths then get a lighter stroller for bigger babies e.g. pliko mini or bee (still very tempted lol and when bigger no need to buy the cocoon :p). Since bugaboo is fixed price, how about peg perego? Any idea when or where to get gd prices?

Cordycep:
I think the price shot up more than 100% after the reports on chinese running atheletes consuming it which helped them broke world records, demand > supply.

Baby cot and/ or play pen:
Definitely cot over play pen rite? Which brand or what are the features to look out for?

Diaper:
Earlier, there was some posts on diaper grabs, i told my mom i also wana grab diapers, she opined that the diapers would turn yellow by my EDD, really? lol

I'm still contemplating whether to do part-time washable diapers.

summer: ur quinny zapp seems like a v gd deal! let me know how u feel after taking cordycep, i took on sunday and i felt moody and tired ytd but i'm not associating it with cordycep but other factors :p

took a day off yesterday to have some quiet and me time, was thinking that no way i can ever do it again for the rest of my life after my baby arrives
happy.gif

Elizabeth, i like the reversible handle for combi miracle turn too. And it has a bar/ railing (dunno what you call it) in front of baby which some of the other models do not have. I may also consider getting combi miracle turn...

Elizabeth,

I bought a toddler bed from IKEA and I find that the material is not good. On a few occasions, we find ants in the process of building nests in the wood. We find that the wood has not been thoroughly treated. But the prices of IKEA cots are of course lower.

So paiseh, Ming already advised me earlier about the Manduca, memory failing... it's suitable for 3mths up and cant face outwards... haiz, back to the drawing board again...

Esther, yep.. I oso think so.. Can use from new born till older.. Also bought bjorn carrier.. More for my hubby to carry baby around esp when we gers shop.. :p
Don't think it's cordycep.. Perhaps baby is taking most of our energy away..
happy.gif
have a gd rest,ya..
Will let u know after I take it cos my mum will be boiling some bird nest instead 1st..

SnU or anyone else,

If you are a member of First Few Years, can I borrow your membership card? I'd like to get a Britax car seat from the shop and I can save 10% if I have the membership.

Thanks!

Hi everyone,

just to advise about my bad experience with a confinement nanny:

BEWARE of this confinement nanny:

Chew Yong Ying from Ipoh. Also known as AH YONG. Ask to see her passport to verify it is her. Born in June.

She is about 55 years old. She is the replacement they sent because the other confinement nanny's father died halfway through the confinement period.

What she looks like:

She is very plump and is a bit hunched over. She burps very loudly too. Talks a lot. Can speak and understand English although not very well and she pretends that she does not understand. (She speaks to and teases my daughter in English all the time). If you need her picture, I am happy to send it to you.

What the living arrangement is:

We let her have the master room with ensuite and the baby in the room. The WHOLE sink and bathroom is full of her stuff - mostly creams and lotions and other beauty products. VERY messy and untidy. She also has a pot of our laundry detergent in there which she uses like it's free.

Basically, she is VERY lazy, very wasteful, complains A LOT, very untidy and has NO knowledge of the right herbs or foods for confinement, and does NOT know much about babies at all. In fact, I know more about babies than she does - and I am half her age, and not a confinement nanny.

These are a few examples of how bad she is. There are many more worse examples:

1) MOPPING - She drops hair (both head hair and pubic hair) all over our floor and refuses to sweep or mop the floor. My husband has blonde hair and my hair is long. And I have brazilian wax. So the black short hair and pubic hair on the floor can only be hers since we do not have other visitors. She says mopping or cleaning any part of the house is not her job.

She is supposedly from GPLS. The last nanny I got from GPLS was excellent and in fact swept the house every day without us asking! She picked up every hair as well. And she was 60 years old. She did not ask for more money and in fact mopping once a week is in the job description.

2) MORE MONEY - This nanny claims that to cook for my husband and wash his dishes, she should be paid extra. My husband eats the SAME food as I do, and uses only ONE plate per meal. All the other confinement nannies have no problem with this. Even the confinement nannies from agencies did not ask for extra money just for this.

3) WASHING BABY - She tried to shower my 14 month old daughter and every time, my daughter would scream very loudly for the whole shower. Finally one day I peeped to see why my daughter is screaming so much and I saw the woman was very rough and did not know how to shower children at all! She let all the soap run into my daughter's eyes and mouth and nose and inside the ears!

4) CHANGING BABY - Every time she changes or cleans the new born baby, the baby will also scream like crazy. So one time I ran in there to see, and saw her poking in my baby's nose with a tissue and she took so long to change a nappy that he got cold and so he was screaming every time she changed or washed him.

She does not know how to change nappy at all. The bed had to be changed 3 times in 1 week because she let shit and pee go all over the bed, even with a changing mat under the baby!

5) MINDING BABY - She complains a lot about the baby waking up all night and crying all the time. This is what babies do and the job of confinement nanny is to mind the baby 24 hours. This is why she is being paid more than a full-time maid. She complains that Singapore is so hot, the baby is so noisy, she is so tired, her throat is sore, her tummy is sort, etc etc.

6) BURPING BABY - She refuses to wind / burp my baby properly. He has a lot of wind and I recognise the cry because of wind. But she said "oh he is breast fed so he doesn't have wind." End up I have to burp him and care for him myself. She only washes him once a day.

7) COOKING - She does NOT know what to cook. So you have to plan the cooking and herbs yourself. She will say you can take everything.

8) EATING - She loves to eat. Every time I open the fridge, she will come to the kitchen to see what food I am making to eat, and ask me what I am eating. She even asked my mother to bring more pig trotters and vinegar soup for her because she likes to eat that soup! She thinks she is the queen or what?

She is very picky about food and asks us to bring her special white bread, special 3-in-1 Milo, etc etc. She wants to eat our cheese, our fruits, everything. We are ok with that IF she is a hard worker. But she is SO LAZY, we do not feel like giving her more food! She is not here to eat. She is here to cook confinement food and to mind the baby and she is not doing her job.

9) WASTING OUR STUFF - She uses our things like it's free. In 7 days that she's here, the laundry powder ran out. The toilet paper ran out. The kitchen paper ran out. Even the garbage bags ran out because she used a huge bag for a little thing and then threw the whole thing away. All these were NEW and replenished when she arrived. Even the mops were new when she arrived.

The garbage bin got flooded inside because she somehow made a hole in the garbage bag and the garbage fluids leaked through. I had to wash the garbage bin because it is not in her job description! The mop turned black because she did not wash the mop after using it.

10) In the 7 days that she's been here, she requested to go downstairs to have dinner with her son because it's her birthday. We allowed that without problem. Then she said she wants to end the confinement period early by 3 days because she wants to go and attend a wedding in Malaysia. No sense of responsibility at all! Very selfish and lazy and greedy.

11) She had the cheek to ask me to find her $3000 (28 days) jobs. She says that she heard some nannies get $3000 this year because it is dragon year. I said to her those nannies are very experienced and very hardworking. She did not get the hint. There are also nannies getting only $1800.

So she said, in her previous nanny assignments, she's always gotten very large ang pows - hundreds of dollars each. (I heard her mention only 1 or 2 other jobs that she's had.) And that if she worked for agency, she would get very large ang pows as well. She was trying to hint to me to give her very large ang pow! We gave her ang pow out of courtesy only as the ang pow was given to the original nanny and not supposed to give to the replacement nanny. And ang pow is based on performance - not on what the nanny demands.

12) She sleeps so much that my husband commented how come she sleeps more than the new born baby. She eats and sleeps most of the time. And tries to change everything in my house. She opens windows that are closed, and closes windows that are open. She folds our clothes haphazardly so that I have to refold them. I have to wash up a lot of dishes and clean up after her. She leaves garbage on top of the bin instead of pushing it down and into the bin. She drips garbage water on the floor and does not wipe it up. So basically I am not resting that much!

13) She asks me personal questions like what do I do, what does my husband do, how much money our furniture costs, how much our rent costs, how much we have to make to pay for all these. She even counts how many rooms and air conditioners we have and how much it costs. She even asks what my parents do, how much money they make, etc. She is basically trying to gauge how rich we are and then trying to spend our money by using up all our stuff, and then make us pay her more by giving her big ang pow! She keeps saying "oh go and buy more of this and more of that. Just go and buy!" Every day she is here, there is something to buy!

I have been very stressed in the 7 days that she has been here. But I cannot get a replacement as it is towards the end of my confinement period and no nanny will take up the remaining days on her behalf. As she is not from agency, I also cannot force her to find a replacement. even if she's with agency, I doubt they will find a replacement for such a short number of days left.

I do NOT feel safe with this woman at all. I would not leave her alone with any of my children and have to keep an eye on her all the time. She has no experience and is very lazy.

She claims she does not know why the baby is crying or why something is finished, etc. She has no sense of responsibility or urgency.

She can spend hours in the bathroom and in the kitchen. We can't go into the kitchen when she is in there as there're plates and vegetables (and meat!) all over the kitchen and we can't do anything in there as there is no space. We have to mind the baby when she is in the bathroom, so basically we are doing her job for her.

She even took pictures of my children without my permission. I am very dissatisfied and unhappy with this woman. She is wasting my time and money. And compared to my experience with other confinement nannies, she is VERY TERRIBLE and NOT recommended. We have been very forgiving and open-minded and have given her face by not telling her off. But she is one of those people who think that if you give her face, she must be right.

In summary, she is a very greedy, very lazy and very bad confinement nanny. She has no characteristics or skills that are essential to this job and she should not be doing this job. I do not feel safe or rested with her around.

Just to warn every one about this nanny. Engage her at your own peril. Especially if you have high standards or have experience with very good nannies, this nanny will make you very upset and unhappy.

Hi All mummies I had detail scan today.. Is a gal...doc say everything normal n ok..

However, Bb hv 2 vessels instead or 3..I'm worried..so doc advice to go for another scan at kkh or thomson.. 1/10 will hv tis condition.haiz...

Angel9: wow! That really sounds bad. Instead of helping, she is adding on to your burden and stress.

That is what I am worry abt.
So won't be getting a confinement lady. Get my mum to help out and order tingkat. Not too comfortable to have a stranger at home. ;)
