(2011)Twin / multiple pregnancy

PinkD,

I do, I have a wonderful helper, who had only been with us for 2 days before I went into pre-term labour! She mainly does the cleaning etc. I do all the cooking though! She and the older kids walk the dog from 5-6pm, the babies just hang out with me during that time, and I cook the dinner! Only 1 dinner meaning the big kids eat what we eat.(unless it's spicy!), I am a bit strict like that, well I have taught them, eat what's on the table, or don't eat at all. It was hard at first, but I don't have the time to be cooking pandering to all their requests! I let each of them choose 1 dinner per week, that we all have to eat. It's fun for them also. The big kids also do the grocery shopping with me... learning about all the food etc..but sometimes it is a stressful experience to say the least!

Thanks Carle!

I really hope i can manage my twin as i am not really organize person ( But my hubby YES)everthough i am full time housewife now (bleeding when i was 8 weeks and hubby asked me to quit my job n stay home) he will help me to do some housework after he comes back from work [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] We have part time maid because we dont like maid to stay in.

carla,

sounds like u have everything very well organized! It must be quite tough with 2 sets of twins though. I already have 3 including the twins & was asking hubby if my next pregnancy will be twins again. Not sure how I'll take to it. Hahaha. I agree with u on the eating habit. It's either the kids eat whatever is on their plate or don't eat at all!

Sunshine,

I'm sure u'll do fine. Just do things 1 at a time, no fret. I have a PT cleaner who comes once a week. Don't like the idea of a stay-in maid too.

Sunshine, PinkD - thanks for the reassurance! =)

I am now just past my week 16 and going to see my gynae for a scan next mon! excited! during oscar, the sonographer mentioned that I might have 1 girl. I hope the other is a boy and then i can 'close shop' too! =)

Carla - u are an inspiration! =)

Poppy,

how exciting! Hope babies are in good positions for the necessary measurements to be taken! Hopefully can see their private parts too kekeke.

yupz!! seems like our thread has only the few of us. By the way, wanna ask - whether you gals feel that, after a night's sleep, that your lower abs/uterus area is like very sore/bruised? Was feeling it on and off and kept telling myself that cos the babies are growing n 'stretching' themselves, that's why I feel that way. =p

Poppy > For me, we saw one boy first at 16weeks and another seen is gal when i did the scan 20weeks in Mount E. But My gynea still cant see, hopefully tomorrow she can give me the confirmation [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] Yes, close shop if 1boy and 1gal haha...

PinkD > Keep the figure close and as long babies are healthy.

Just to check... should i go for c-section or natura birth? i was worry and told my Dr before, i would like to have c-section as my mother had difficulty to give birth to me and my sister. How about Carla and PinkD? your guy were c-section or natural birth?

Sunshine,

I wanted to go for natural as I delivered my #1 that way. But my presenting twin was breech so no choice had to go for C-section. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Hi Sunshine! Good luck!!! I hope you can close shop after this too! My pregnancy has not been easy, so even if I did end up with a singleton (cos my twins came via IVF), DH told me no need to try for another. It's been 70% nightmare and 30% joyful moments thus far. wish I could increase the 30% soon!

I did ask my gynae abt c-sect or natural but he said he has delivered many multiples via natural so he doesn't see why I can't. I cross my fingers that mine will be natural too! Cos I cannot stand the pain of surgery and the awful healing process. But I don't know how fate will play out... We'll see. =)

Carla: Thanks for sharing! Can see that you're supermom! I'm not a person of routine, so I hope things work out! haha

Thanks Soul! But went to scan yesterday and Dr said their both legs are toward bottom... it hard to have natural... anyway, see how it's goes [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

My back which near the ass is very painful and Dr said it may be expending... but usually is front rite? anyone encounter before? once i lay down on bed and it hard for me to get up as very pain till i cry.. at night, i need to take painkiller( Dr gave)to sleep.

soulvacation,

hope the rest of your pregnancy is smooth sailing & all the best on being able to deliver the twins naturally!

Sunshine,

the pain may be caused by the weight of the babies as well. I know I couldn't lie down on my back at all. it gets tougher as the days go by but everyday that u keep the twins inside will be worth it!

Have a good weekend everyone!

Hi all!

That's where some of you have been... I thought the 2010 twins thread died. Haha, until PinkD told me abt this thread.

My twins are 6 months old exactly tomorrow!!! I have a toddler who is almost 2.5 years old... it's been a whirlwind the last few months, but guess things are getting better. 1 twin sleeps much better than the other twin, so there are still some very tiring days.

CarlaM, can you share how you put your kids on such routines? Did u do CIO with the babies to let them sleep thru the nite? Do they nap at the same time in the day? Wow, I can't imagine having 2 sets of twins...

It gets more rewarding at this stage when they are starting to smile and respond more... Other twin mummies, hang in there!!

Hi PinkD, my back is getting better as i went for walk walk inside the swimming pool... haha..

Last weekend was shopping day for me.. hubby bought me 2 bags from kate space to reward me to have twin babies [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Who is interesting to attend "WOMEN IN THE FULLNESS OF LIFE: A Health Seminar on Pregnancy and Fertility" at Conrad Centennial Singapore on 9 april?

Hi ladies! Can I join in? I m also a twin MTB n expecting 2 boys.. I m coming to week 25. I conceived my twins via ivf also.

Soul, are u with dr loh fm kkh?

Hi all,

I have a twin brestfeeding pillow to let go. I used only for a couple of weeks. In very good condition. Original retail price is $168, letting go at $128 (Self-collect).

PM me if interested! =)

hi all twin MTBs,

I am approaching 20 weeks soon... [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] hope all will have a smooth pregnancy thru'out.

Hi sunshine, we are 1 week apart only!!! Which doctor are u with? Know d genders already? I hope to hv a natural delivery for my twins but last Appt, doc say most likely c sect unless placenta move up [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif] so now I can only hope for d best!

Do u feel alot of babies' movements?

Mummies, care to share what kind of thermometer Shd I get for NBs? Or babies?

hi all twin MTBs, Can i join in? i oso hv twins n conceived thru ivf. Still in my 1st trimester..nw 11wk.. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

hi yumyum,Lucky i have confirmed mei ling as my CL not her Si Fu, Ya Fern. initially still thought that Ya fern is better because she is ML's Si Fu.

hi Vio,Congratulation! I am expecting identical twins and in my 12 weeks. Our delivery date will be very close. Who is your gynae?

Hi Rostrum! Yup I'm with Dr Loh at KKH. Also IVF mommy. But I'm only in my 21st week, so abit behind you and Sunshine. Did Dr Loh put you on hosp leave already?? Cos I have high blood, so he ordered me to stay home. =(

Sunshine: The pain in the backside area is normal as I had pain on the bone around where we poopoo. It's the tailbone area. Gynae says it's normal cos the area is expanding.

It's getting very very hard to sleep at night cos I can never find a comfy position to lie down in! I usually fall asleep only after tossing for a longggggg time cos I'm very tired by then. =(

Mummies,

Have not posted for sometime. My twins are now 8 weeks old. Only one word can describe the last 2 months...Siong!!!

My younger boy twin is a very cranky baby. He cries for every slight reason...and if ignored, his cries will escalate to very loud shrills. This means most of my time focused on him and makes me feel bad towards his more passive sister.

Night feeds are a mess....initially we tried to sync so their feeds are the same time but now, HB and I just assigned one twin each and we wake when our respective twin stirs.

Anyway, they still wake up MANY times a night, especially my boy. I feel bad for my HB who still needs to go to work, so sometimes I take over his twin duty as well, some nights feel like I didn't sleep at all.

Ok, enough of ranting. On good days, when I look at my 3 children, I do feel very blessed.

L and Pinky,

How r u ladies? Your twins must be getting much bigger now. On solids yet?

Are any of you starting to think bat sleep training?Or are your twins already sleeping thru?

Sunshine,

Don't worry abt your HB communication problem with the CL. My HB is English and he manages to get most ofnthe stuff she needs right. Things like red dates and dried longan and herbs for soups etc, it's better you prepare ahead of course.

Ok, gotta run.....guess which twin is acting up again?

Annika,

my twin boy is also the more attention-demanding baby. His sister is very passive, as she can self-soothe with her thumb. But when she's hungry she really shouts! He also wakes up a number of times & I am trying my best to keep to only 1 feed a night. Sometimes when I'm so tired I do give in so that I can go back to sleep asap!

I sleep train the boy by letting him CIO. My girl twin doesn't really need much of an effort as she only wakes up the mostly once. Prior to this she was sleeping through the night at about 2-3months old. Not sure why she has gone back to waking up once for milk, but I am hoping this will be resolved when I introduce solids.

They are not on solids yet. My boy twin had eczema so I am taking the introduction of solids at 6 months. Afraid his immune system is not ready yet & if he has an allergic reaction from some food... oh boy! As for my girl I feel she's not physically ready for solids yet. So I think 6 months should be good.

BebeYee, Meiling is accomodating too. she dun cook as well as Ya Fern but she makes sure you get your rest. Also, she bathes baby in a cleaner way too. Now, chill and just relax...

Soul, hi!!! No, I m not on hl yet.. Are u working? I hope I can work till ard week 34... But in btw I will apply annual leaves to rest at home so now trying to save up all my precious leaves?

Hv u started your shopping for babies? I was advised to finish in tri 2 n rest in tri 3... So I will try to finish up everything this mth...

Rostrum > My gynea is Dr Kelly at Paragon and will deliver at Mount E. One is confirmed baby boy, but another one is unsure. During 20 weeks scan in Mount E, the doctor said is baby gal.. but my gynea still unable to see it. So it difficult for us to purchase the clothes or baby stuffs [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif] anyway, hopefully next scan can tell. Yes, i feel a lot of movement from them. One like to kick during morning, and one like to kick while i am sleeping [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

I bought baby cots yesterday and finally! this weekend will purchase accessories like bedsheet, pillow, music box, toys and etc and almost all setup and waiting babies [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Soul > Yes, hard to sleep at night seen all the position are unconfortable at all! I feel so sleepy but unable to breathe while i lay down on bed due to high placenta,it make me hard to sleep

Annika > Thanks! My hb will try to learn simple madarine and communicate with CL [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] however, my brother will help me to purchase the confinement stuffs.

Hi sunshine, yours is identical or non identical twins? How nice if u hv a boy- girl Combi!!! [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Yr shopping is fast!!! So far I only bought 2 prams, sterilizer, Nuk stuff, advent n Nuk milk bottles.. Will b getting d cot this mth n hv it delivered in june. Are u getting any car seats? Oh. Also bought some rompers, bibs, swaddling blankets, socks...

Any idea how much milk bottles Shd we prepare? So far I hv 2 big n 2 small bottle for each baby. Wondering it's enuff?

U mummies plan to BF? I intend to so tinking to invest in Medela freestyle from online spree.. Cheaper..

Hey Rostrum and sunshine,

Are you ladies in the 2011 Aug MTB thread yet? You can go in and ask Carole to add you to our Facebook page. I think someone is organising a Medela spree there.

Yes, I'll be breastfeeding if I can. But since it's twins, I think I will pump to feed instead of having them latch on.

Both of you are lucky, can still go shopping. I've been confined to the house and am bored to tears! But luckily I already bought the cots, steriliser, NUK bottles, some clothes during the Taka and Expo fairs. I'm left with miscellaneous small items like diaper creams and changing mats etc.

I have a question for all twin mummies here though, do you have 1 pram or 2?? I'm not buying a twin stroller because I think it's too bulky for our lifts and aisles. What do you all recommend?

Soul, i m due in early July, not august.. The spree u mention, do u hv any idea how much does Medela freestyle pump cost there?

U need to confine at home till due?

I bought 2 separate strollers. Maclaren xt 2008 model during d taka sale... The lady throw in 2 support paddings n handrail each.

How many milk bottles did u prepare?

rostrum: Oh ok. The organiser hasn't ordered yet but according to the spreadsheet, the Freestyle set will cost about S$360 not including shipping.

I bought 2 big bottles and 2 small NUK bottles. I also got 2 small and 2 big Pigeon bottles free with the steriliser. So I guess it should be enough.

Yes, I'm confined to the home till the babies arrive... that's another 4 months of utter boredom! It's miserable because though I have time off from work, I can't accomplish much because I feel horrible sitting for too long. Backache, tummy discomfort... sigh

I think my babies will arrive sometime in late July as well, around 37th week perhaps?

Soul, I also hv 2 big n 2 small Nuk bottles n 2 big n 2 small avent bottles... May not get too much till babies are out cos not sure whether they are suited to d brands or not?

Actually u can shop online n join some sprees in smh..can kill time cos so many things to c..read up more also on babies so tt u hv a rough idea of wat is going to happen when they are out.. It's a luxury to slp late n wake up as n when u like it.. I m struggling to get up fm bed at times during weekdays!

Rest more actually can let your babies grow faster... Hang on there! 4 mthsv fast de...

All mothers alert! Please do not use legends manpower agency should i-kare recommend. Myanmar maids suck and the agent Mia when u haf issue and his maids like to 'pls send me back to agent'.

Hi bebeyee, heee.. so, u r my buddy coz both of our twins r abt same week.. :p my gynae is Dr LC Lee. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

hi MTBs and mummies out there, mi quite a clean freak..cant std d dirt in my room.. mi coming to 12wk.. do u all thk i can do hsework, i.e vaccuming, mopping? mi dun feel tired as i enjoy doing d cleaning, jus tat i scared it will harm my bbs. Any advice?

Hi Yumyum, tks for telling us.. my fil is intending to get myanmar maid, will find out which agency he gt fr. Heard fr him tat myanmar maid r veri hardworking, dunno hw true.. any mummies wanna comment?

hi ladies, can i join in too? i'm expecting twin girls & coming to 24 weeks, under Dr SF Loh [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

hi yumyum, i had horrible experience with Legend Manpower Agency too!! i took a transfer myanmar maid from them and she ran off after a few days and i still had to pay them agent fees of 500+.. the agent still can ask me not to be so fussy abt the $$. he is too protective of his maids and these myanmar girls don't seem to be able to take hardship..

Soul, rostrum and i will deliver babies in July ya [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] So great... maybe oneday we bring all babies out and take a picture!?

I also only have 3small and 3 middle size milk bottles and i hope is enough..

Soul> i can understand your situation as i also quited my job when i was 3 months pregnant due to heavy bleeding and admitted in hospital for 1 week then bedrest for 1 month. I also feel bored as i cant do much thing.I am getting better now and i am filling my times with cooking and baking [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

For the stroller, i bought baby jogger city select at mothercare (mothercare fair at harbour front)because i can able to put in 2 car seats and bigger storage bag.

http://www.babyjogger.com/city_select_lp.aspx

Vio > take it easy as you only 12 weeks. Remember you have 2 babies inside your tummy not one [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] however, light cleaning is fine... try not to carry heavy stuffs ok?

Yumyum,

Thanks for letting us know! I had so much doubt when finding Ya fern not up to my standard and agent keep telling me that that's best I could get. Ouch...! Imagine that I had no luxury of ILs/own parents' help.

rostrum,

I went thru natural delivery. Guess that somehow the belief that I got to recover fast since without ILs/own parents' help pushed me through it.

hi vio, train hubby to do or if can afford, get pt cleaner to help out? Got to learn to close your eyes and relax. Priority shd be taking care of yourself and bb. housework is hmmm... not part of the equation. Unless you find it very relaxing to do housework.... even then after 20 weeks.

hi sunshine, okie, noted n will avoid carrying heavy stuff. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

hi yumyum, hubby noe he nid to do, but prob is he doesnt enjoy n thk i m clean freak.. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif] but guys std of cleanliness is owez lower..well, perhaps u r rite, i hv to learn close my 2 eyes n relax.. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif]

Mummies & mtbs, anyone of u attend antenatal class? i m thinking of attending d TMC w Mrs Wong. The feedback is gd and Mrs Wong claimed to be d best lactation specialist in S'pore. when did u all start d classes? The TMC classes onli for mummies > 20wk. For us having twins, is it ok (i mean mayb heavy n cause inconvenience) to go ard tis period?

sunshine, sure sure [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] Can organise a gathering for the babies [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] Must b v cute!!!

Vio, I did not do any heavy hsewk since D1...Gynae also advises not to exert too much energy. If u need to go for any prenatal exercises, do get clearance from your gynae first. My dh has been handling all the hsewk and I hv been closing 2 eyes till now.

Tubao, care to share which gynae are u with and hospital? Is it easy to push 2 babies? what are your twins weight? sorry for so many questions.

Vio, I did not go for any antenatal classes, only by read up and get some tips here and there. I need the time to rest and finish shopping for babies during tri 2 so tt I can rest in tri 3. But I tink its good for 1st time mummies to attend the classes...for me, I am plain lazy and energy level not v high too...

Yumyum, Thks! I am actually not v particularly with food. More importantly is how she handle my twins n have good hygiene.

Vio, please try not to mop the floor. I also concieved thru ivf n My gynae always reminds me not to do any housework n carried heavy stuffs in 1st tri as it is a very crucial stage for us. Moreover ours is thru ivf n really have to

take care. I just got a domestic helper n busy training her for the last one wk.
