Jenny,
Its sounds like your baby might have food allergies. Cos the flu never goes away and baby cant sleep well, these are some of common symptoms of food allergies. Or baby could be super sensitive to dustmite? The faster solution would be to change bedding, mop floors and clean the aircon daily for the dustmite possibility. For the food allergies possibility, you can try change to FM for babies with food allergies such as Nan Ha etc...you have to check with other mummies which ones they are as i'm not sure. Then you have to try eliminating cow's milk from your diet first as you are breastfeeding as well and cow's milk allergies are the most common type of food allergy.
Another thing is...have u tried to put baby on a schedule yet? My baby feeds every 3-4hrly. After every feed, I will try to get bb to sleep (abt 1-1.5 hrs after each feed). I tried all kinds of methods to make my bb sleep (carrying and rocking, rocking in bouncy chair, carrying her in the bouncy chair) The methods all work at first but then after some time don't seem to work well.
This final method is working well for me so far: I have sleep time routine...
After each feed, bb's mood is the best so i can leave bb alone on her own, or i will play and talk to her.
After 1hr or 1.5 hr, bb will start to get cranky and rub eyes or eat hands etc...then i will start bed time routine.
1. Wipe face and hands. Change diapers.
2. Put bb on the bed and sing to bb lullaby and pat her.
3. Then i leave the room and let bb settle to sleep on her own.
U have to start the bedtime routine before bb gets cranky and start to cry or bb will become upset for this method to work.
Also when i first started this method, bb will cry its lungs out. Don't pick up bb. After 5-10 mins, if baby is still screaming, you can pat and sayang bb and then leave bb to try to go to sleep again. Its supposed to work after a few days, bb will cry only for a while and then will still drift off to sleep by itself liao. But this method is only for hard-hearted mummies who can stand bb's screaming. BB can cry up to an hr if you're trying this method for the first time.
Also, I will make sure to feed bb every 3-4hrly. Even if she is sleeping, i will gently wake her to feed her. I found out that if i let her sleep too long, she tend to be more difficult to go to sleep after the next feed.
I have a really fussy and cranky bb too. I feel that after i started her on this schedule, she has improved by crying less often.
