Gerry/tweety, I rest on the bed whole day today..past few days was okie.. Dun know y today keep having sharp pain n can't sleep...

 
Mummies, I'm so sad now. Joel is admitted to Mt a for phototherapy just now le. Jaundice still high at 16.6 today. I so bu she de him. Keep crying on the way to Mt A. When i gotta leave e nursery room.. I give him a goodbye kiss then faster run out and cry liao. So diu lian. E nurse also look at me.. But i just cant help it! Not so worried abt e jaundice. Just miss Joel v much. Hope he can come home asap.



On a happy note, dunno izzit e papaya soup works or i miss joel too much.. Or a combination of both. Just now i pump 3.5hrs after Joel's last latch, managed to pump 150ml! Up from 60ml!



Piggy, Mrs chua and those whose bb born last wk.. Ur bbs gain back to birth weight already?

 
Elmo: totally understand how you feel. its like baby was with us all 9 mths and now have to be separated for a few days and its tough. just remember that he is in good hands now and just try to rest as much as you can.

 
Sookie, i gave birth 2x without epi ah. You can do it! It's all ur mind power! But dun think I'll ever want to go through another delivery again!

 
Elmo, I been through it! Mine was hospitalized on tues and jus came home today. I oso cried but have to console ourself staying in is the best cos if we bring bb home, they might nt have the best treatment..cheerup ya, soon bb will be able to go home..,

I know he'll be fine la.. But just cant help crying. Think e hormones are making me v emotional. Think e only cure is to bring my #1 back home. Tt talkative boy will give me lots of joy too! Haha.

Joel is in good hands. Very normal that you got upset. Must be heart-wrenching to have to leave your newborn like that. But this is for his good, the nurses will take care of him and monitor his jaundice. In the meantime, keep up the soup and water intake and pump pump pump so he has lots of BM to drink ok? Hugs gal!

Sorry for the late reply. Haha, yes, maybe we can meet in the clinic on Mon if I have not popped by then. But I have a feeling it will be sometime this weekend. Doing the sweep on Sat at noon. Did Dr L charge you for the sweep?

Phew! Finally I get to log in. This mothering career is tough job man... My baby refuses to feed in the day and sleep throughout but decided to wakeup in the night.

Anyway Congrats to all other mothers that have delivered. Finally our thread is full of action.

Anyone good PD to introduce?

I delivered in TMC so my gynae recommended TMC PD to me....However, my friends mentioned that I do not need to go back TMC PD for review and injection as more expensive...Kindly check with experienced mummies how often does newborn need to do review?

Anyone using Avent Steriliser? Kindly check how often u all sterilise? For e.g we put in 2 bottles to sterilise..then we took out 1 bottle for feeding...kindly check we need to sterilise for the another bottle again? cos a bit paranoid on the hygience....

Kindly check do you all give 2-3 hourly feed or just wait for baby to cry for milk then feed?

After sterilizing, you can keep the bottles in the sterilizer until you need them. Then when you open to take 1 bottle, the other bottle can be kept in a clean air tight container for future use.



As for bf, are you latching or pumping? I am the feed on demand mummy and I did full time latch on when I was on ML.. You can check out www.kellymom.com for volume reference. I was latching my daughter every 1-2 hrs in the first few months..

If u really concern, after u sterilize u can just take out all bottle n assembly them keep aside or keep in air tight container... So no matter how many times u open ur sterilizer, the bacteria won't go into bottles... [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

No the other bottle can still be used.. No problems.. I usually just leave the bottles in the sterilizer until I used them all up.. But some mummies who are worried about it, can store the sterilized unused bottles in a clean container to be used for later feeds until you have run out of bottles and repeat the whole sterilizing cycle.. =)



I only started bottle feeding my girl when she was 4 months.. So not too sure about vol..

mikio: u chose to go thru c sect with GA? When you first wake up your throat will be very dry, and they will tell us not to drink alot of water in case we vomit. And you will feel quite drowsy, but i think if you are motivated like me to see your baby you will struggle to wake up no matter what. A lot of mothers couldn't believe that I woke up 1hr after the op and stayed awake the whole day and night without sleeping... and on the 2nd day afternoon i was off the bed and walking inside the room, then in the evening I could walk to the nursery liao. Today is the 3rd day and everyone says I don't look like I just had a op.......so jia you ok! When I woke up my legs were a bit numb due to the epidural effects but u won't feel that, so you won't have to go thru that, better than me liao [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]



The Mt A nurses are really nice and friendly. Hubby and me managed to master the latching on liao. We can get Parsley to latch on liao, just that she is sleepy so we keep having to wake her up to feed.



Yoti: I BF every 3 hrs... if I wait for Parsley to wake up, erm i think she won't ever. She seems like she doesn't need to feed at all, not hungry. but when we get her to latch her her sucking is very good [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]



She vomited a whole blob of yellow viscous liquid just now, which we assume to be the colostrum. So hopefully it means she's feeding well. I'm doing the side lying position so that it doesn't hurt my wound.



Elmo: Don't worry Joel will be fine soon! My PD is concerned about Parsley's jaundice and her count is at 7.2... but she had early onset so we have to keep doing photo therapy too. Sigh. She has to do another blood test tmr and see what the results are. Maybe we will need to rent the machine home to sun her... sigh. He says level 20 will be brain damage and 15 is red alert. Anything below 12 is ok.

Hope u can come and vist me tmr! =)

but ur bb day 3 only 7.2 is v low leh.. my boi day 3 jaundice is 8.3 the nurse say consider low leh den i bring him to polyclinic on day 7 his level was 22 still ok leh the dr say above 30 den need to admit.. urs is v low leh..

Btw, Gerry is right. One way to wake babies up is to unswaddle him/her.



We have to go thru the routine to wake Parsley up all the time.

1) rub feet

2) rub hands

3) rub chins

4) unswaddle

5) burp him/her



and after doing all these, he/she may or may not wake up....zzzzz.....i don't know whether we shld be happy that she's not wailing for milk all the time....

my bb is like parsley durin my hosp stay even the nurse cant wake him up with the usu method... but guess wat? now at home he dun wan to sleep 2.5hr alr wan feed.... *shake head*

pink, J's level is 16+. So you will choose to rent e light back home and not admit if needed ah?
