(2010/07) July 2010 MTB

congratz to all mummies who just popped! Seems like I missed out on the actions here cause I just popped too! On 27 July 2010 0836! I'm a July 2010 mummy afterall =D

I have problem with breastfeeding too! Baby able to suckle but I think my milk not in yet, so baby doc suggest supplementing with FM cause baby seems dehydrated [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif][IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif]

Will be discharged from MAH in any moment! Finally can go home and rest on own bed.

coolqoo Jiayou!! baby will be out any time!!! =D

anyone able to update the names of mummies that just popped?!?! lazy to read the earlier thread...so many! So far shann, me, mrslong & ??

2nd day of confinement & I really cannot tahan the weather (heat). Perspire like mad even when I sleep in aircon room @ night.

Still need to wear socks at home.

I hv a lot of water retention on my leg & face. Tummy still looks like I'm 6-7mth preggie.

Anyone has the same prob as me??

How do I get rid of water retention?

Tdy tried pumping, only managed 20ml on both side together. Actually I also dunno when need to pump. Just feel boobs abit hard, then go pump liao & no fixed timing....is it ok?

mrslong: for my wife...she will try her best to pump every 2-3hrs..reason since latching gg to be very painful at this moment...at least pumping will stimulate the bb sucking...so as to generate more milk.

My in law got a very long and tight stocking which she bought in watson for my wifey...seem to help with the water retention..

coolqoo, all the best for your delivery and enjoy ur stay at MAH =)

after bb came back from hospital on tue for jaundice, he has problem latching on. guess he's too used to the cup feeding cos it's so fast and easy for him. was struggling to latch him on for tue & wed but he din suck much so always have to top up with some EBM/FM. Finally today he remembers how to latch. After latching him on both side for almost 1 hour, he is now satisfied and happily asleep.

Hi mommies. I've been a passive viewer of this thread as my baby's EDD was between 31st July and 1st august, so i din noe which month to join!

My baby was born on 21st July 2010. Her name is Jovie =)

She was born in TMC.

Nice to meet you guys!

Anyway just to share my frustration.. My baby is 8 day old today. I tried to latch her on for the first 4 days... but my nipples were bruised, sore and cracked till i cant even wear any tops or bras! anyone had the same problem?

Now, i m tryin to pump my milk and top up with Formula milk...

Just curious... how much milk can you all pump when your baby was ardoun 8 day old? I only manage an avergae of 40 to 60 ml each pump when i do so for 30 mins... is it too little?

My 8 day old is drinking like 70 to 80 ml per feed... cant meet her demands..

thanks all for listening!

Junie,

don't drink water first. Take red dates drink or holic or milo. Like wat I mentioned on ur FB, best to start massage asap lor. If not u try to put on a binder overnight. I'm thinking of buying the lana pants (hubby owes me a present) to keep everything in shape after my massage session.

Anyone keen to get the slimmingpants?

And oh, I'm suffering from constipation!

Feels like poo pooing but very painful and as if something is stuck there! [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif]

CEcilia,

ur pump yield pretty alright [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] don't stress yourself ya. Btw, r u using twin pump? If so, 30 minutes seems long. Maybe u can try pump at 2 hour interval? Meanwhile, drink alot of fluids( I didn't touch water though), papaya fish soup and fenugreek.

Vernie,

get delphalac (tools softener) from pharmacy. Tt's wat dr chua prescribed me to help with tt problem

mrslong,

buy the med...it's v useful....i KS took till finish whole bottle coz no wana take the risk later stop med then poo poo too hard my wound erupt lagi worst

Cecilia:i guess u are doing fine...my wife at this point of time(which my bb is 11days old) can only manage the same amount as you. So seem you are doing alright. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

As for the pain...unless it is latch properly..if not this will happen. Sames happens to my wifey. Perhaps can ask Parent Craft for help?

Sillyhp - yes, im using medela pump in style advance... 30 mins is a bit too long? then how long should i pump?

Sean - thanks for the encouragement... i have gone to parentcraft like 3 times already.. but then my nipples are way too sore and they bled... so i really don't dare to try again.. feel so lousy as a mummy..

i tried to console myself that by pumping out, it's still breast milk afterall? =(

Parent craft encouraged me to pump 5 mins, stop, then massage, then 5mins again...

i wonder if i m doing the right thing!

cecil, since your nippples are damaged now, have to give it a rest.

apply your BM on your nipples and airdry them as much possible. this will speed up the healing.

1. at night when zzzz, air dry your breasts

2. in the day, you can buy apply nipple cream and wear medela breast shells in your bra so that the nipples is protected from grazing against your bra . wearing breast pads will still keep them in moist environment hence will slow down healing. so best is the breast shells, have ventilation.

Cecil: it happen to my wifey too , in term of bleed. Just use breast milk to lubricate and air dry...it will lessen the pain.U are not lousy la..i guess some prople go through the phase like u(eg, my wife)...Let yr nipple heal..so that you wont have the phobia of latching.

Yes..no doubt about it...expressing breast milk is still good for bb(that my view) cos it still yr milk after all.

What you need to do most improtantly is to stay positive...let it heal...try again...knowing that it will be the best gifts for your bb...I think that all what we want to achieve also...hang on..[IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Cecil: and remeber..u are not alone...there pepole who also share the same challenge...every body of the mummy works diff...sames goes as every of our bb behave diff...so dun stress up ya..[IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

talking abt latching n expressing..some mommies really "look dwn" on expressing..i am doing 100% expressing now n no latching at all n some of my mommy frens who knows abt it give me some "comments" or "look" as if i m not treating my boy right...

cecil.... another tip my LC gave me was to use warm towel to wrap round your breast a few times before massaging then pump. My bb is 20days old and my pump yield is ard the same as urs....

and yes express bm is still the same! [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

hi mummies,

for the ones with girls, have anyone of you bought leggings ? where did you buy them?

cos i'm thinking of doing away with swaddling since she's already in her 5th week so i plan to get leggings.

hihi, would like to seek advice from you guys here. I initiated breastfeeding late due to various reasons and it is now more than a month since my baby is born. As such my milk supply is very low now. If i want to start breastfeeding my baby now, is it too late? Does anyone knows if i can start getting the milk to "come in" now after a month?

My baby needs about 90ml of milk per feed now every 2-3hrs. As i can't pump out this amount now, i can only allow him to latch. And it is kind of tiring now to let him latch every 2-3hrs (sometimes even shorter). I am clueless now if i am doing the right thing. Any advice?

Mrs Long, you faced the same concerns as me when i just delivered. I hated the whole confinement period especially the weather. Though i tried to shower everyday, but i still feel itch all over at the end of the day due to the sweat.

For your tummy and water retention, it will go away after you have your massage. Just remember not to take water will do as it will make the water retention worse.

Don't worry about milk supply. I got very stressed up during my first few weeks too and i cried alot. My milk supply hasn't really "come in" still but i have already learned to take it easy. Just let your baby drink whatever quantity you can give. Even if it is 10ml, it is definitely better than nothing. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Sun tan,

the pants cost $268. hmm someone mentioned it is very effective. I want lose all the Preggie weight gain lor.

U mean ur friends look down on u? Omg! Motherhood is not abt tbf alone. It's a long journey and encompasses many aspects. Ur friends r just too myopic( pardon me [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] )

Bbliss,

call parentcraft to ask is foc. But go down to get face to face consultation gotta pay. I dunno the fees thougH

Cherry.sue, yes from this forum. Online shopping here is very addicting. Esp when u see so many cute stuffs for baby girls. Hee...

phy,

Wah its quite ex..hmm..not really look down, but they just give me the feeling like i am not giving my boy the best which i should or can give.. its a bit dishearted to hear their comments, but i heck care also..to me, as long as its BM, why does it makes a diff between express and latching..

Sun tan - I agree with you. Expressing and latching still produce breast milk afterall..

Do anyone know when the actual milkflow will kick in? My

milk flow varies... Sometimes 30ml from both sides, sometimes 70! So it's very demoralizing to see small amt after the end of a session.

Anyone here feed their baby formula milk 100%??

Are there any mummies here using medela swing? Need to check if I'm using my pump correctly. When I massage and press nipples, milk will spurt out n flow is good (which gives ms confidence that milk supply is gd). But when pumping, milk doesn't spurt out as much and flow is little ( takes away my confidence). Why??!!

cherrymum and cecil,

My bm just came in today (5th day), till yesterday its only colostrum. But supply very low for now so i also top up the balance with FM. Hopefully can catch up soon.

suntan,

sorry to say this but your frens have a very lopsided view of BF. ya, who doesn't want to be a pro at latching but some things just dun work out the way we want to. EBM is still the same as TBF. ultimately it is the milk that goes into babies' stomachs that counts, right? at least your baby's on BM and no FM supplement. mine i still have to supplement with FM

Mrslong,

i had water retention around my ankles when i got home, not becoz i drank water (i did that in the hospital) but it was becos i walked too much. what i did was just sit down, take a break and prop my legs up on a stool and the next day, no water retention liao.

i'm drinking loads of water these few days till my sore throat wears off - too much red dates!

Constipation,

you can request from your gynae. mine gave me some enema but told me to only take it when if it's really serious. in the end i didn't coz i had my 1st poop 4 days after delivery and thereafter, almost daily. eat more high fibre food. i take cereals for breakfast and fruits after every meal. and green vege too

Breast milk stimulants,

i tried the papaya fish soup - doesn't work on me. neither does red date tea. but getting enough rest is what matters to have milk to continue coming in. not that i've a lot of supply though..hahaha! anyway, i've stopped comparing the amt of BM that i can pump to some mommies here who can pump out sooo much (so envious!) - i'll just do my best for my baby. little BM is better than none at all

Fazzy- wow ur milk supply sounds like it's v high!

How many days old is ur baby? I'm looking forward to the day I can fill a bottle with my milk...

Perhaps ur breast shield is too small that it restrict ur milk flow?

Sun tan,

hee I'm closing shop le so wanna get back my figure!

Ur friends har... It is not a competition to see who can give the best to the kids. Afterall, one's medicine cab be another's poison. The journey just started. Long way to go [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] right frame of mind keeps mothers stress free and produce happy kids [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Cecil, me loh... I give FM 100%. I salute to those mummies who can bf for long but I'm not ashamed that I didn't. Motherhood is afterall not all abt breastfeeding. Jiayou, if u are determined to bf, u can do it one! [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]
