Good morning mommies!

I've delivered! Super duper long labour man. Contractions came arnd every 7 mins and it was 27 hrs from 1st contraction till he finally came out..Yes Fazzy, thank God for epi! Thought I could do without it coz the 1st 19 hours were still bearable. Gave in after the gynae broke my waters, contraction were really painful after.



Here's little Brandon! He's 3.4 kg and 49cm long. Arrive 7th July.

 


Hmmm...can't figure how to post pics from IPhone. Will put up when I get more settled at home. Confinement aunty coming tonite.



Oh birth was natural, didn't have to be induced coz contractions came in 3 hours before Gynea's appt. Baby sure knows how to choose his timing yea.



Gonna catch some zz now.

Ak: ya u need to pump more often to bring up the supply. AS for the massage, I have frens who started massage after 5 days cos their ML claims that she use a different method to massage, different from those who delivered naturally. Maybe you can check with your ML. IF the method is the same, I would rather listen to gynae. every one is different so maybe for you, it is really not advisable to start at 2.5 weeks. SInce we trust our gynae from start, we might as well wait another 1.5 weeks to be safe ya. You can try looking for another ML too.

maybe the question u want to ask urself is - do u want to tbf bb. cos if you want to tbf, u hv 2 increase ur latch frequency and downplay your FM feeding - 60-80ml of FM means 1 feed for a ur bb's age. if you think ur supply is going down, go to your gynae and get motillium. it's an anti-nauseous drug but helps aid milk supply.



besides that, u may need to keep a diary of how often u r feeding bb... do not let ur bb fall aslp while feeding cos it just means she is nursing on ur nipple for comfort - just like using a pacifier...



u will probably need to express after every feed if possible to empty ur breast. if your nipples feel sore, it could be due to the sunction so chk ur breast pump.

AK, my girl behaves the same way too. I try to latch her on as much as I can - it can be tiring as she comfort sucks alot. But because I'm open to formula feeding, I'll bottle feed her if I'm 'sucked dry' and she's still crying for milk. I seldom express as most of the time I'll just latch on directly. I only pump if she's fast asleep and doesn't want to latch on while I'm already engorged and dripping away with milk.

Re: massage, I will start mine today- exactly 2 weeks after my c-sect. But I'm not that worried because bleeding has reduced to just spotting and my womb has already contracted substantially. My wound is now just a line above the pubic bone. But I'll still ask the masseuse to avoid the wound area just in case and anyway my problem area is above the surgical site.

Am going for the gynae checkup later, hopefully everything is ok & hv good news (e.g. my StrepB test result comes bk ok....).

 
BM supply:

hi mummies, just to share: in the first few days my supply was quite low, only about 30-50ml each pumping session. so had to top up with FM a lot. but i persisted and started pumping after each time i directly latched my bb girl. it was tiring, esp in the wee hours in the morning when i just wanted to sleep. but in the end it was worth it, now my bb girl is 2 weeks' old and i'm consistently pumping 100-110ml each time i pump. I still try to latch as much as i can but sometimes the timings don't match, so i pump and bottle feed. pumping after latching really does help! even though it's not much pumped out, it helps to build supply. the body will produce more milk when it senses that the milk is being used up. hope that helps!

Hi ladies,

Can any one introduce good massage lady? I had engaged Siti Hana, she only did 2 massage and went missing in action. I rang her and sms her for a few days but she refused to answer nor reply to me. Sensing something is wrong, my confinement lady tried to ring her on my behalf, upon not recognising my CL's HP number, Siti answered the call, but when my CL asked about my massage appointment, she slammed down the phone and switch it off. I am really disappointed with Siti that she live up to this bad reputation. Previously I was warned about her this type of irresponsible attitude, however, I still chose to use her, as I thought I should give someone a chance unless she proved herself unworthy. So now, she is really unworthy of my trust.



So now, I will need to find a new massage lady, appreciate if someone would recommend.

A friend just told me her induced birth for #2 took her only 5 hours! Gosh! Haha, now I'm having the jitters! It means TONIGHT if fast and early tomorrow morning! Although second labour, it still feels sooo.....soo... u know, unnerving!

Jaclyn - you at TMC right... get your gynae/nurse to find you the LC and see HOW you bf...from there hopefully can pinpoint why the pain.... I asked the LC every day t o make sure I got latch on properly... I started off with football position for first two days then slowly change to cradle hold position...





babycoco - i try to feed my gal every 2.5 to 3 hours... she sucked about 25 to 30 mins each feed. I pump after every day feed, yield from 20ml to 40ml range...

Sufficient rest and liquid intake is also crucial to milk supply...make sure you have enough Zzz time..

Just finish feeding BB and put him down to sleep. Oh... I managed to pump 100ml this morning. So happy.. supply is slowly increasing. So happy. But then I know it will decrease as the day ends.



Congratulations to mummies who had popped. Sorry ah.. I couldn't name you all out one by one cos the thread moves too fast and after I finish reading all postings, my head too full of information liao. Haha!!



Mummies who are in labour ward, Jia you.. very soon your precious one will be in your arms.



Mummies who have not popped... Enjoy your time now cause things will be different after you popped which will be soon... hehe!!



AK: Dun be upset by your milk supply. Actually I am also taking fenugreek now too cos I find my milk supply quite little. And during my last visit to gynae, they also give me some supplement sample to increase my milk flow. So now my milk supply is slowly increasing.



I pump every 3 hours like that.



As for massage, Mdm Ida told me have to be a month later.. that's why now I have not had any massage yet. 2 weeks is too short for womb to heal completely. Even my gynae also told me the womb and the outer wound will take about 1 mth to heal.



Pumping Pal from Mumsfairy: Anyone bought this? Is it good? I feel like buying cos always leaning forward to pump is really causing a strain on my back.

There are pros and cons to choose btw IFC & maid..



Pros for IFC -

the teachers there are experience and bb might get more independent and can learn more things.



Cons for IFC -

- Its depend on 1 teacher handle how many bb.

- pick up time shd be ard 7pm any later a chgs of

abt $50 might occur..



Pros for maid -

- can help to do hsework and take care of bb basic needs

- more freedom and personal time



Cons for maid -

- supervision is needed

experiencing tummy tighting and pain now.. but will go off when in sitting down and lying down. Wonder if this is BH. I am already in my wk 37 liao.. kinda worried cos appt to see gynae is on monday and last visit he recommend to induce. so might opt for induce this coming mon or tues liao..

May - why gynae suggest induction? You carrying a big Bb? if the tummy pain pain goes off after you shift your position, it should be BH

 
May: If it goes away when u sit or lying down, it is BH. Dun worry too much. You will definitely know if it is contraction. ^_^



Eliss: I bottle feed my boy for BM or FM. I only spoon feed him once in the hospital only.

The one my ger attend 1:3 or 4

By 7pm have to fetch ur child.

When bb is sick, u have to take leave to look after.

I don know abt other, when i sent my 1st one to IFC, at the beginning, she tend to fall sick, Most important, u must feel comfortable with the IFC u sending ur bb.

 
Eliss, gynae suggest induce cos bb suddenly grow fast abt 500gm in 1 wk.. bb was 2.7kg when wk 36, on monday gynae check, he say bb was ard 3-3.3kg.. so he suggest induce if want normal delivery..

 
ic...thanks Ann...I'm doing TBF but spoon fed my gal with EBM...scare of nipple confusion leh... My CL has suggests I rest thru the night and she can bottle my gal for night feeds.... how how?



Night feed, doing twice daily...BB gal takes about 1 hr to suck continously for 30 mins.. can see that I sleep deprived now... argh

Ann ah, cant help worrying la... cos my bb cot not here yet... and call the supplier he say will try tomo nia even tho i told him i will deliver earlier..



mummies, can i ask, do u give FM to bb when u are still in the hospital? what brand of FM do u give?

 
+ my MIL like not kan cheong like tat... cos now i staying wif my parents and confinement will be at MIL place so few mths ago already bought staff for bb and ask my hubby to steralize them but didn't do till now.



Ask hubby where the CL will b sleeping cos if sleep wif bb, then we need to prepare matteress for her else she hv to sleep with me... he also clueless like that saying he will ask his mum... i pengz...

 
May - ic... you small size too? i have a friend who had encounter the same problem as you, but she does not want induction and wait for BB to arrive his own. During those days, she ate very very very little... so as to slow the growth of her BB... in the end, she gave birth at 39 weeks, normal delivery with no epi, baby was 3.2

 
Ann, do you also breastfeed or just pump and bottle feed?



I find my bb don't sleep as much now. I just fed her at 11:15 and she's been awake since.

jellypurin : Thanx for your advices! My breast feels empty for latching bb and so didnt bother to pump. Moreover, bb gal also cant sleep and not satisfied after latch.. so i supplement with formula andshe will sleep very soundly after that. sigh...



springleaf : Have you had your massage yet? How was it? painful ma? My wound is also juz a line now. Do you ve any plaster over yr wound? I have a transparent one which I remove b4 i shower and put back after i'm done with shower. Also, how do you know if your uterus has contracted huh? My locchia has reduced to spotting as well coz my gynae helped to remove alot of it during my surgery.



peanut : so roughly how many times do you pump in the day and for how long huh? If after latching then pump and get only 5ml of milk each time.. can you use the same bottle to continue pumping or must use new sterilised one...then pour all together?

AK, my massage will be this afternoon at 3.30 p.m. As for the womb, I know it's almost back to normal because my tummy is very much flattened to just a small bulge, which was a far cry from when I just delivered - I looked like still 6 months pregnant. I don't have anymore dressing over my wound and it's not bleeding nor weeping. I'll let you know more after my massage today.

 
hi all i am back home. Wow the feeling when i was carrying my baby back home really very emo! I came to the hospital with baby in me, and left with baby in my arms.... so happy



eliss: The nurse ask LC to come a few times but never leh. In the end the senior nurses watch over me. They mostly say the latch is right just that baby suck too hard thats why my nipple hurts. However I think i just need to get used to it and wait for nipple to toughen up. Now I am alternating FM and BM so to give some time for nipple to heal inbetween. Then i will slowly transit to TBF. Really very salute you to TBF all the way!!



May: I requested for Similac. Before I left the hospital today, TMC nurse gave me quite alot of bottles of FM (at least 12 bottles). They also gave me about 10 empty bottles for breastmilk storage nx time. You can request from them! Just be nice , smile smile ask nicely then they give u more =D. Caps for the empty bottles can be bought at the pharmacy downstairs of TMC. ($3 for 3 caps).



Pris: Woohoo our babies share same bday!! Nx time we celebrate together. Hope you are doing well now, your labour is soooo long.. kudos to you for going through that.



Now I am back at home, thank goodness baby is giving me a break.. hubby is sleeping and snoring away. He is as shag as me haha.

 
Eliss: My preference would be to express milk out and let CL feed at night so that you can rest. Lack of sleep also affect milk production. Alternatively, try to grab as much sleep as you can during the daytime so that night time even when feeding also won't feel so tired. Like Mrs Wong always say.. sleep when BB sleep. Haha!!



May: Oh.. Actually my BB cot was supposed to be delivered at end June but my hubby & I got abit paranoid and decided to bring all the items in early by end May. Haha!!



I fed my boy FM on my first day cause after C-sec, I was too tired le. I fed him the brand "Nan".



CL should sleep with BB so that she can take care of BB at night. If BB sleep with us and CL sleep alone.. then most likely is u will wake up to take care of BB at night rather than your CL.



babycoco: I expressed my milk out and bottlefeed him all the way. I don't latched him to my breasts anymore except during my stay in hospital. Cause he is too anxious for milk as he grow bigger and my nipples are too short for him to latch on.



As BB grows, I find they sleep lesser. My boy in the morning also the same. He feed at 10plus then stay awake.. so i play with him lo. After awhile.. put him in cot to play by himself till 12 plus, find him sucking on his hand and still awake so know he hungry liao. Then feed him again and finally sleep.



Sometime they just wan to play or wan u to hold them till they sleep. Doesn't necessary mean they still hungry.
