the parentcraft nurse said use cabbage leaves for 30mins to soften the lumps first, if too hard and engorged baby won't latch well also.



actually for my #1 2 yrs ago, for initial engorgement i also used cabbage leaves, as long as use it in moderation and keep latching/pumping regularly supply won't stop or reduce.

 
Jelly, my CL and massage lady tell me to use hot compress and massage...which is exactly what tmc parentcraft said NOT to do, so it's a bit confusing la. I'm just trying to latch as much as I can. Latching seems to be the consensus heh.

 
yup, i also thought cabbage leaves will reduce milk supply too.... it does provide some relief but initial stage, i don't dare use them.



i only used cabbage leaves when i had bad engorgement but milk supply has stabilised already. and i do find milk supply dropped when i apply cabbage leaves though..

Went Dr Choo appointment yesterday, bb still happliy staying inside, no sign of contraction. Haha... Still on the waiting waiting & waiting.... bb weigh bat 3.3kg at weeks 38+

Good morning mummies.



Trying to catch up with the thread while BB is sleeping and CL & hubby went marketing. Had just discharged yesterday. Tried to BF baby at home but not successful yesterday. He was crying away. CL say he is too hungry le that's why cry and refuse to latch on cos BM coming too slowly. So we gave him some FM and finally he quiet down. CL was very encouraging. Told me to not take it to heart cos I think I felt quite stress and upset. She say drink more water, eat more, rest more and use the pump more often and milk will eventually come. Just feed BB as much as I can. Most imptly, ask me dun give up. It really felt encouraging.



Yesterday, I use the pump to try to stimulate my flow. The first time I pump... i wasn't expecting anything at all. When I saw colostrum collected in the bottle, I was so happy.. even if it is a little bit. CL took and gave it to BB to drink.



After I had my last latching with BB (for at least 20mins, so happy) last night, I pump again.. this time round, I had 20ml. Felt even more confident. CL also faster take to let BB drink even though just finished latching not long ago only. Maybe she felt better to give it fresh and also dun waste it. Haha!!



CL let me rest for the night and didn't wake me up cause she say she wanted me to rest for the night and since I dun have much milk flow yet.. she dun wan to disturb my sleep.



I felt so much well rested this morning. Felt more confident and mood also lighten up.

i remember Mrs Wong said to only use them when you have very bad engorgement, when breasts turn rock solid. otherwise, massage the breasts to relieve the engorgement

yay! nice CL you have there. ya, dun stress yourself over BM, if not it will affect supply. just supplement with FM when not enough BM, then when BM comes in full force, just take baby off the FM



gynae oredi told me that my baby will be formula fed within the 1st hour after birth since she's used to the high sugar environment in the womb - sigh...due to my GD lor. so praying everything will be smooth and her sugar level will balance out

 
ica: Ya.. my CL fuss over me like a mother hen. Haha!! She also fuss over my hubby like one. My hubby find her abit naggy. Haha!!



Keep telling my hubby must go market early so that your wife can have the freshest ingredients. Haha!!



Dun worry about your BB. I am sure she will be fine soon.



Trying to make an appt with PD tomorrow or the day after but so hard to call in to the clinic. Always engaged.

 
For those who have popped, I'm soooo envious of u... Haiz, waiting is no fun no fun... Really like everything in s...l...o....w... motion.. Arg! Can't wait to be able to lie on tummy again...

well, my edd is 4th July, waiting for bb to come out herself..but oso afraid if she overdue, doc ll suggest to induce..

anyway, for other mummies who still in waiting mode.including me, hehe, enjoy our remaining time bb in ur stomach oh!! this is the only time we can feel bb movement in our body, sure ll miss the feeling very much after deliver..

 
Cheese u working still? I'm on leave this week... Actually been on leave for 4 wks le. So... Really hope bb comes out this week.

 
Lynn -- er.. how come u use cabbage? u know it can stop ur milk supply? use hot towel to sponge it.. and let bb latch a bit longer to ease the pain. i jus came home.. i was in 318 then 311 cause not enuff room... baby is also back with me [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

 
Hello mummies! Congrats to those who have popped. My birth story:



25 June 2010



4:30PM: Arrived at gynae's clinic for CTG check and final confirmation whether induction can proceed. Baby’s heartbeat is good, no contractions.



5:10PM: Gynae did a VE. Cervix is soft but not dilated yet. So he inserted a pill into the vagina to get the cervix to dilate to about 1 to 2cm. Advised me to admit to MAH about 6 hours later at approx. 11:30pm to midnight. He said he will come to break the waterbag after I have epidural done. Baby should be delivered by Sat, 26 June.



5:45PM: Went for nice hair wash at Junction 8. Felt a little uncomfortable, but still feeling OK.



6:30PM: Had a nice dinner with hubby. Started to get moody and felt menstrual like cramps. Thought it was just the pill taking effect.



7:00PM: Updated my family about my admission to the hospital later that night. So everyone was expecting the baby to arrive the next day, 26 June.



7:15PM: Arrived home to prepare for admission later at night. Pain started to get unbearable. Went to shower and realised I have started bleeding.



7:45PM: Called gynae’s emergency number and told him about the pain & bleeding. Also told him I was on the way to MAH.



8:00PM: Arrived at MAH. Hubby dropped me at the main lobby and I walked in with just my phone, wallet & admission letter while he went to park the car. One of the staff was pushing a wheelchair meant for another patient, but she saw that I was in pain and quickly diverted the wheelchair to me. Pain is getting unbearable. Those people queuing up for the shuttle bus & taxi all looking at me. So paiseh!



8:05PM: Wheeled to the labour ward. Nurse quickly took my admission letter, checked my weight and send me into the delivery suite. I told her i am in pain and wanted epidural. She checked my cervix and said that I am already 9cm dilated! She told me she can call the anaesthetist but doubt he can make it on time. Suddenly a whole team of nurses & midwife came in, quickly set up the laughing gas for me to relieve the pain, changed me, put me on antibiotic drip (since I have Strep B). Encouraged me to hang on and concentrate on my breathing. Hubby too. It was really dramatic. Different nurses checking on different things – one did admission, one put me on drip, another changed me. So many things happened at the same time. One nurse even said that we were actually expecting you at midnight.



8:15PM (thereabout): Waterbag broke. Felt a gush of water flowing out. Nurse said gynae is on the way already. Keep encouraging me to concentrate on my breathing.



8:30PM (thereabout): Gynae arrived. Nurses and midwife quickly set me up in the position for birth. Told me to start pushing. Gave 2 small pushes first. Nurses told me to imagine being constipated and trying to push a poo out. I gave one big and long push.



8:36PM: Baby Ian came out, wailing loudly to the world. All pain gone and I couldn’t believe everything happened so fast!



10:30PM: Informed family about the birth. Their reaction: “What?? Thought u r admitting only at about midnight?”



Midwife/nurses told me for next pregnancy, it will be faster and I have to come to the hospital earlier. Was so dazed and amused by what happened that I couldn’t sleep that night. What a dramatic birth!

hmm.. after csect, i was able to see and latch bb after 4 hours cause she was in the warmer..



first latch, she wasnt keen, shes a sleepy baby

then waited for another hour, she latch but wasnt too confident and both of us are trying our best to OJT..



then 3rd latch, i told the missy i wanna try by myself so she left us alone. i look at bb and told her.. "baby, lets me patient and learn this ok? mommy wait for u, u wait for mommy..."



and wala!



she took in my breast and she starting sucking.. at first was painful but subsequent latches was great. im having milk le.. saw white liquid liao.. can tell that shes more full also..



hmm.. at first i latch her 15 min on both sides.. now i increase to 20mins cause PD say her "reserves" are almost used up so she will take in more...



planning to increase to 25 mins tomorrow and see if shes ok with that.. her poo poo and pee pee is ok also... [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]



oh ya, i got engorge.. so i went into the toilet, fill up the sink with hot water and dip my breast in followed by a massage then use milk to moist it.. if left engorges, i let bb latch left first so that she can take in more from the engorged side...

 
sweetkiss - I'm in wk 40 already so gynae said he only allow 3 days delay... if not got to induce on Sat mid-night... I'm also quite scare that I will go through e-csect... but wanna try if can natural or not leh... so hoping bb will come out b4 this sat...

 
carol: i lost a bb at about 20 - 22 weeks in Feb 2009...had to do "medical abortion" to remove the fetus...it is something like a stillbirth but since bb was less than 28 weeks, they dun call it stillbirth officially...since bb is well and full term already, gynae suggested to induce as bb will not gain anything extra by staying longer in the womb...we are being cautious and kiasu here...

 
Ann, wanna ask you how much fm you give your baby. i'm also breastfeeding but my milk only started flowing today but really very little. bb always hungry but i'm trying not to give too much fm.



ica, ya my bb was fed with fm cos blood sugar a bit low. but subsequent tests show blood sugar normal. so no need to worry.



Vernie, your bb is very cute, such big eyes.

infants need no more than 30ml per feed. try 30ml first, which is 1oz then u make again if bb seemed hungry.



if ur infant a week old? if ur infant is a week old u may need to make about 60ml.

 
thanks jelly. my bb is only 5days old. have been supplementing my bm with fm cos if only bm she wakes up every 1hr asking for more. if give 30ml, she'll sleep for 4hrs. is that ok?

Went for gynae checkup yesta. Still no signs yet. Cervix is still closed. Lots of amniotic fluid still. Am 39 weeks and 5 days already. I'll have to be induced on Monday if baby doesnt appear by this weekend.



Really really want to have a natural birth experience. Keeping in prayer that he will decide to come out tomorrow = )

 
Pris, I am suffering lor. Heart burn and bachache and been throwing up. Tomorrow check up will see if bb is gaining weight, if not much shall take up gynae's suggestion to induce...

Good Morning Ladies..

Yesterday & the day b4 bb Charlene nt moving much, therefore yesterday went down to Gynae clinic for appt. Gynae advise to C-sect cos he don wanna risk the baby inside too long... & as my cervix is still closed therefore, even induce, the chance of getting emergency c-sect is high, therefore I will be opting to c-sect within these few days.

 
keropi - are the cramps coming every few minutes? if they get more intense and can't be relieved even if you move/walk around, and they come with tummy tightening, better call the gynae...

went for checkup today. i'm 37wks but baby's at 40wks, weighing 3.8kg! likelihood of c-section, so gynae said to think of a date after 38wks. will make final decision after next wk's checkup. cervix not dilated so no point inducing. also gynae prefers that baby comes out after wk38 so that jaundice level will not be too high

 
Pris: Same ! I am also praying that baby will choose to come out on his own, else gotta induce nx Tuesday cos im already 2-3 cm dilated.



This last part really difficult! Walk oso so tiring, sit also tailbone pain. Turn over in bed also feels like something hammering my pelvis. Apart from that, i am getting menses cramps feeling more regularly now but it only occurs at night and never frequent enough for me to go hospital. Im always able to sleep them off.

Master Arif is born on 30 June 2010, Timing 11.45pm, At week 36+3Days, Weight at 3.535kg.



Lucky never wait for full term 4 more weeks, sure kena C Section if he is toooo Big.

27 June 2010 ( Sunday ) 3am , admit to KKH Delivery Suite due to 20 minutes apart contraction. BB still small to be induced and contraction is getting moderate to NO MORE PAIN. Blood PRessure is SUPER HIGH so die die, Hospital have to monintor at Labour Ward incase they need to C Section me. Did VE cervic open 2cm only.



28 June 2010 - Still in labour ward, BP well maintain, than sent to Normal Ward for review and discharge. Cervic is 3cm open so gynae need to do some urine test before can discharge me.

8am and 6pm injection to open BB lung were given incase deliver early.

Evening packed well wanting to go home, urine result came and gynae says need to keep me one more day as Urine contain som traces of BLOOD.



29 June 2010 - Back to the normal ward, gynae says if today urine and BP ok you go home.Urine results and Blood test result all came back SUPER GOOD. BAd news BP start to climb up again which is VERY BAD for mummy.



30 June 2010 - 7.30am, Gynae came did a VE and told me I am 4cm Dilated, I told her BP hig due to my conraction. So she says ok i will arrange for you to Labour Ward cause Labour ward every 4 hours i can monintor you. Normal ward every 6 hours which is bad for me.



10.30am sent to labour ward Room 17. Nurse gave a short brief AGAIN about the procedeurs and asked me to change my clothing. After fixed the Drip PLug and CTG rope i was on the bed most of the time till LUNCH time. Eat lunch macdonald set meal (Hubby eat the Hospital Food) kekekekkeke..



Enjoy watching the Cartoon Network Show TOM AND JERRY for few hours as Gynea got to do a OPERATION of a twin BB via E-CSection.



3plus Gynae came. Read all the test results and told me I AM GOING TO BREAK your water Bag since your BP is still not well control. So i say oklor.



The process of breaking is like VE. Once break can feel warm sessation water oozing out. 4plus still no pain of any contraction gynae says going to drip you with oxygin. It trigers contraction.



Mild contraction like period cramps came on and off i still can bear with it till 7plus. Injection for pain killer were given at the thights as i can feel more period pain fornt and the Back.



8plus Gynae came check the Cervix and says it is 5cm open only. She says increase the dosage of my BP medication as BP is very high too and she seat beside me, talking about controlling my pain management method.



9plus she went to another room emergency request. I control my pain via the breathing method with hubby FULLY gear Cheer Leader..



11pm gynae came in do VE again. This time BB head is already very down and she says can push any time. She and the nurse prepare all the items needed for delivery and some paper work.

Than start the battle. Few pushes 3 sets of 3 pushes, Walla BB Arif is out.



Gynae did the weighing and was shocked, your BB is more than 3KG Mdm Siti. I told her i knew it since last week bb is big.



So off BB went for a cleaning session while i was there drinking Red Bull and thanking all the nurse that were helping me.



Hubby snaps few photos here and there. I sleep from 12midnite till 3am at labour ward before the push me to normal ward at 4plus.

Went to bathroom just now to pee. Before I could pee, a glob of stuff came out. It was bloody discharge and quite red. Is this a bloody show? Thought is brown? Anyway I put on a pantiliner and came back to bed. Don't feel pain in tummy yet. .. What is happening?

 
Kat- Cervic is getting softer and it could be the mucus plug fused out.



Always call your gynae when in Doubt cause different people different body reaction.

Cheese, so coincidental! Last night my boy turned vigoriously and I could feel him squeezing into a ball. Then after that he pushed outhard on my tummyand I could feel the different parts of his body protruding out.

Wah, CT, so its natural without epi! Congrats!



For me opposite leh, my boy was very quiet for the whole of yesterday till i was quite worried. Then during my nightly bbplus session, i kept asking my boy to move. In the end, after the lesson, he move NON-STOP and i had problem sleeping thru it..duhz..
