(2010/07) July 2010 MTB

ica, springleaf, ya i also heard that you have to avoid chicken for 2 weeks after c-section. so that your wound will heal nicely, no ugly scars, no infection etc.

Ica, babycoco,

Looks like I've got alot of things to learn. I hope my confinement lady knows all these so that I don't have to go find out.

springleaf,

Its also good to avoid ginger if you are breastfeeding cos ginger will cause jaundice to become even more serious. For massage wise, i heard some c-sec cases takes 2 weeks after op. But best to check with your massage lady. She would be the best person to ask [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

ica,

In fact, my massage lady told me a few days after natural birth can massage alr. Its good to start early cos utreus is still actively shrinking. Thus by massaging, it will help in the process and also help us in slimming down while our body is so active.

springleaf,

like Serene said - dun scare yourself ok? relax a bit, enjoy these few weeks before we deliver. whatever the delivery method, just see how things go lor - gynae will ensure we have safe deliveries. my baby also hasn't turned down, still up i.e. below my ribcage most of the time.

ya lor, anything to do with c-section, takes time - recovery process is looonger

Sun_tan,

My massage lady also told me best to start ASAP after natural delivery so can slim down faster. Oh no, that means if I undergo c-sect, I'll be at risk for becoming a fat auntie! Haha

springleaf, a few of my friends went for c-section, so can easily find out from them what you can/cannot do. but the main thing that i've heard over and over again is no chicken for 2 weeks.

no chicken, no seafood such as prawns, crabs (these food will cause wound to itch)and eat more fish so that wound will heal faster.

sun_tan,

a few days after natural birth, can start massaging oredi? okie, will call the massage lady see how it goes lah after birth

springleaf,

you'll learn or rather, gain the knowledge/info as you go along - hearing old ppl talk, googling, etc. but then dunno why ang mohs dun have these pantang stuff, only Asians, and they recover nicely...hmmm...

ica, it's true. angmohs not pantang at all. i was so horrified when i saw my hubby's cousin in the pool with her 3 weeks old baby! and we're not even allowed to shower, let alone dip in pooh, hahahaha.

3 wks old baby in the pool? wow! and to think we have to wrap our babies up in case they catch cold! hahaha! but i remember Mrs. Wong was saying not to let baby swim in the pool until they;'re at least 6 mths old coz you dunno how clean the pool water is

oh! i watched this documentary before, where they threw the babies into the swimming pool and amazingly, the babies know how to swim to the surface and not breathe thru their noses! very cute to watch [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] coz the environment is familiar to them, being in a water world for 9 mths

ica, they were in their own pool, so i guess they think should be clean enough. but honestly, i don't think the baby was enjoying himself. hahaha

ya, i also watched documentary about babies swimming. apparently they remember what it was like in our tummy, they don't breath under water.

babycoco: Wow! Your bb is 2.5kg at Wk 34 and u only gain 2.5kg. So envious! My bb was 1.96kg at Wk 33+ and I gained about 5 - 6 kg so far. Wondering how heavy is bb now. Will be seeing gynae this Sat for Wk 35+ checkup plus doing Vaginal Swab test.

i was reading up on swimming for babies.. babies shud be introduced to swimming before 6th mth if not they will "forget" what its like in the water and tend to be scared of water..

jus like bfing.. bfing shud be introduced within the first 30 mins after delivery if not bb will have prob latching on.. its like.. after delivery, if u put ur bb on ur tummy, bb will naturally crawl to our nipples and start to bf..so remember to remind the nurses that u are on TBF (total bfing) so that they can bring the bb to u asap... [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

as for ginger, same like chicken.. avoiding will mean a nice healed wound..

as for ginger during bf-ing, i was reading a book, theres actually no scientific test whether ginger causes jaundice but if u gotta eat them.. u can take the ginger an hour before bfing [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

if bb have jaundice, bf them more often. bb need more fluid (bm) to flush/expel out the toxic and recover from jaundice [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

serene: The part on bb naturally crawling to our nipples to bf is really amazing! Mrs Wong showed us a video of this during class. Was really amazed!

Anyone has any idea for the marriage cert that we're suppose to bring to the hospital (as part of our hospital bag item), must we bring photocopy or original??

serene,

actually when i was attending my antenatal course, the lecturer did mention that ginger will cause some chemical reaction (forgot whats the name of the process) which in turn will make jaundice even worse in bb. So i think thats scientific proof bah. But better to play safe..haha anyway i also dun like ginger taste. So all the more better, got excuse not to eat too much ginger during confinement :p

mrslong,

Think we need to bring original.

babycoco: If u r going for vaginal delivery, the vaginal swab test is usually done around Week 35 to 36, thereabout. At least, this is my gynae's practice. Not sure about yours. Coz if any infection found, need to treat with antibiotics before we can deliver bb naturally.

mrslong -- yup original de...

suntan -- ooo.. but hor... also good la.. cause first 12 days also no ginger cause of stitches down there wor...

vernie -- yup yup!! thats why our nipples will turn darker when we are pregnant so bb can see our nipples.. amazing right? [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

must I do make up? Because I don't make up...

4 weeks more to go for me! Feeling anxious yet excited = )

Legs feel so heavy like lead these days.. Wanted to go shopping after lunch yesterday but was so tired just from the walk from carpark to mall. In the end went home to take a nap..haha

Serene >> You are really a very sweet aunty. Your niece and nephew are very lucky to have you!

Pris -- shy... keke.. no la.. i always feel that.. we shud be responsible for young lives lor.. if u wanna give birth, u must be responsible to make sure the little one gets proper education, proper teachings and discipline. im quite disappointed in how my SIL and BIL bo chaps at times thinking like my old folks at home.. so i decided to step up and take control instead of letting the little ones grow without a direction but all these will come to a stop when both of them reach sec sch.. cause i wont be a mentor to them by then. i will only be their best friend. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

hello mummies!

i'm very worried coz my fungus infection came bck again n damn itchy... in my 34weeks soon n my gynae appointment will b dis saturday.. shld i wait or juz go dwn to get d medicine for d infection? i did insert it once last mnth but it came bck again.. worried if this continue till my due date then they will opt me for d c-section rite?

I just did a CTG SCAN yesterday coz DR said my bb's heartbeat is abit too lively & fast while doing the ultrasound scan.

Dr left for a delivery to TMC after saying that & left 1 of the nurse attend to my CTG scan for abt 20-25mins, she told me my bb heartbeat is over average which is 110-160. My bb's heartbeat is super fast at 165-168 during the CTG scan but never explain to me why.

Im quite worry & called the clinic today 3 times to speak to dr regarding my CTG scan results, but the nurse kept asking me to call back as dr is very busy.

Anyone experience bb with very fast heartbeat 165-168?

anyways for washing of baby clothes, what brand u mummies using?

was chatting with hubby, tot of buying a play gym for baby, hubby told me we r not getting any play gym, play pen, yao lan, n nothing of sort dat can spoilt her... he scared dat if baby wants to sleep will depend on these things n wil cry if she doesnt get it.... n he said too early for toys too.. but i tot it can stimulate baby's brain rite...?

Aisha: I am using Pigeon brand for bb laundry. The powder version.

Baby cot bumper: Any idea how to wash the bumper? Can throw into washing machine? Also, when do we start using the bumper, pillows & bolster?

hi ladies,

just came back from a wedding dinner. Felt damn full throughout the meal even though din eat alot (3rd course I was already full). Also felt sooo tired. Really being pregnant at our 3rd trimester is taking its toll on us.. all of us are moving slowly and we're tired easily now hor.

Im in my 34 weeks already.. i still have 6 weeks till my EDD. Hopefully baby decides to come out earlier !

Hubby good mood today 7.30pm back from work tell me to change go JB. So i told him can i see the Gynae also just for fun to see BB and do a check up over there? Reached clinic 9pm, 9.40pm my turn i am the last patient. Paid RM50 for the checkup and 1 scan picture. BB head down but not engaged yet.

Baby estimated 32 weeks 2 days , weight 2.377kg.

The gynae told me try to eat more fish and vegetables, cut down on rice and bread. Try drink less milk ..

I was like huh? I dont eat much at all. 1 day at times i just drink 3 cups LOW fat milk. 2 piece bread or 1/2 bowl rice for lunch, breakfast 2 pcs plain biscuit. Night time bread or biscuit.

Hubby told gynae he have to forced me to eat, as i dont eat much.

I told Gynae it could be i follow my dad genes, my dad have Angmoh blood, body size is biglor. Dad side Grandpa is Angmoh grandma is MALAY. My dad is Half half. My mum Side granpa is Pakistan Bugis and grandma is India+Chinese. So i rojak..

This gynae somemore tell me if by go C Section just pay RM3700 including hospital and doctor fees.. I just pretend oh ok thank you for the offer will consider it.

He did not know i am going to deliver in Singapore..

hello gals! Been busy with work cuz my supposedly ML cover was hospitalised! Now I gotta cover her work... sigh

Now 34 weeks, going to Gynae this Sat at TMC then after its a weekly affair liaoz... BB is moving drastically these few days, very uncomfy leh... but I still feel quite mobile maybe thanks to the weekly gym session i have through out this pregnancy...

Yeah! a number of stuff to look fwd to... Maternity PS next Fri and Sun... Setup BB cot and second round washing (must remind myself!). however 2 weeks ago, I ordered BBmallonline stuff and my order has gone MIA. So angry!

Cant imagine i have another 5 weeks to go before my elective C-sect date! Excited? Anxious? Neutral? Yucks!

Good morning ladies.

Although on HL, but still will wake up at 7.30am and can't get back to sleep. I think it's my body biological clock.

Baby pram and Baby car seats arrived yesterday afternoon and hubby set up the pram. I lay a towel inside and ask hubby to put one of my furkids in and test "drive". Dun wan later put BB in and whole thing came crashing down. Very sturdy. I think my girl enjoy the "ride". When daddy bring her down from the pram, she even came to me and stand on her hind legs asking for more, I told her "Cannot. Belong to didi one. One time is enough le".

Baby cot and Baby playpen will arrive this Saturday. I am getting all my things in early cos really scared go into early labour.

anyone in doubts to do c sect or natural delivery? i had my first boy in c sect cos doc says amio fluid is low and placenta kinda "old" le... now my new Gynae also advise me to do c sect due to avoid complications like tearing of the previous c sect wound.. this second pregnancy is exactly 2 years apart...do u think its safe enough to do natural delivery? 4 weeks more to go if i were to do c sect!

and, i did epidural for my first c sect cos i wanted to see my boy in the very first min he's out! but epidural caused me bad headache and itchiness in face nose and hands... thinking of trying General Anathesigia.. don know leh...dilemna...if i do GA then i don get to see my bb first hand...and don know if GA got other side effects or not?? anyone experience similar case? care to share?

Hi ALL MTBs,

I am so tired ... presently in week 31. Everyday like dragging my feet around wherever I walk...

felt so bulky and clumpy too...

Week 31, bb weighs 1.5kg

cant wait to see bb really soon !

Heng: My GF just had GA for her 2nd BB (1st BB natural birth without Epidural)

She gave birth at KKH, she was given morphine to be admintrate herself through a button press herself when she is in pain (attached to her drip)

2nd day she can come down bed and breastfeed her BB. Overall seems ok accept "see stars" hahaha think is normal ...

Heng - I had GA for my myomectomy in Year 2008. Very grogy after operation (done around noon) till midnight... cant sleep well as you are not allowed to take water and nurses keep taking your temperature every hour or so... So if possible I will not opt for GA for my elective C-sect

xbeanniex: thks for the info. but only can wait till 2nd day then breastfeed bb?? i would love to breastfeed immediately... How long after c sect she will wake?

are u considering c sect or natural? hee..

Morning mummies,

So many of my neighbours doing renovation cos my area is around 6 years now, so everyone starting to sell/ move out. Sigh. Baby has been kicking me a lot due to all the drill noises, i suppose. I think I'd go to my mum's place after lunch cos now waiting for my baby's cot arrival!

I was reading about episiotomy earlier. I'm not so scared thinking abt labour itself, but i'm more scared of the effects of episiotomy. Is it true that most Asian mummies will go through episiotomy? Sigh, I worry long-term effects will be painful for intercourse and I dun want that! I read there's even one lady who forego intercourse a year after giving birth cos of the pain she faces due to episiotomy.

I can't wait for my next appt to see gynae also, which is next Monday. My gynae will be doing a growth scan for me. Will be at 34 weeks then. So fast!

One more question, we need to wash baby's clothes twice is it? Once insufficient?

Eliss: i did epidural but i really had very very bad headache..(feel like banging my head!!!!!) so i'm really scared to do epidural again for c sect...haiz....and i wasnt allow to eat or drink for 1 whole day only put on drip...but i literally feel hungry...cos was asked to fast fr mid night onwards the day b4 c sect!!! the hungry also aggravated the headache!!!

however c sect is not as painful as i thought! i was lucky enough that i was able to walk the next day and i did not have to take pain killers at all except to "cure" my bad headache!!
