Jeanie, she will poo everyday, sometimes skip 1 day. but recently can poo 3 times a day, but 1st 2 poo just 1 piece kind. She got 1 bad habit though, poo while eating solids..:S

recently she also wake up in the middle of the night and wants me to carry. after a while, put her back to bed and pat her to sleep. takes half an hr..felt so sleepy when i wake up for work.

Maybe she feels cold. i switch off the aircon and on the fan, she seems to sleep better after that. or maybe the sound from the fan is soothing, same effect as hair dryer.
 


moscato, maybe she really feels cold. but when you touch her, does her skin feels cold? you send her to ifc or nanny? any particular thing happen in the day which causes her not to sleep well at night? milkstrike for more then 3 days is not good. bring to doc? she poo 3x a day is because she missed one day? if that is, then its ok. if not, must monitor the texture of the poo.

my boy will wake up in the mid of night and cry when he plays too hard in the day..

Storage for food puree

I read that never store frozen food puree in glass that not mean for freezing. Also for easier to keep and measure, i freeze in the milk trays that i bought for bm last time, as well as the food cube. The avent via cup also can if need bigger amount. So far i find it quite good on trays, cube cos i can take them out put in freezer safe ziplock bags and then the cube &amp; trays can be use again.

GG, 6 feeds per day? how many ml of fm? you treat the semi solid as a feed or just supplement?

i fed total of 5 feeds per day. 4FM + 1 semi solid. 200ml of FM each time. min 3hrs interval.

according to my FM tin, it says 4feed of FM per day(200ml). but im not sure does that include semi solid or not.. if i nv give semi solid, i'll give FM. which makes up to 5 FM feeds that day.. im not sure if i've overfed..
 
Jeanie, my mum is looking after her. Everything normal, didnt play too hard. Her hands feel cold since not wearing mittens but she will take her hand out when i cover with blanket.

Dr. Ong told me before milk intake will drop til as low as 500ml..but she drinks even lesser than that. Will monitor &amp; see how. Maybe drop 1 semi-solid so that she will drink more milk.

ivy, how much is the storage cube? i store in the avent cup...but only small quantity of puree inside...

GG &amp; jeanie- Wow! your bb taking at least 5 feeds per day..mine is 4 feeds (sometimes 3 EBM + 1 solid)...and each milk feed abt 200-220ml and i think quite eat drinker he is leh...so i try down if possible the milk ml....

How heavy is your bb huh?
 
ivy, most of us have used those glass bottles from TMC for freezing breastmilk so it should be suitable..

how many times do your babies poo a day? mine is pooing 2-3 times a day.. not watery.. solid but soft kind.. so many times!! he used to poo once a day since started solids, but past week this changed..

moscato, i think baby is very distracted.. why not ask ur mum to try feeding her in a quiet darkened room?

i always nurse in my bedroom all curtains drawn, but my boy still v distracted.. will bend his body upside down to see whats behind him.. then spit up all over me! aiyoh
 
angkuku, that time i saw him trying to meddle with the cables. so first instinct is to cover up! anyway cuz that is the phone cable. so not flickering it.that's why can just cover up.

manu, if your boy is drinking fine, dun down it.. my boy is 8.6kg..

skinneybeenie, my boy is starting to get distracted too! once, he heard my dad sneeze and he stop drinking! but i try not to change the environment because of this cuz i want him to get used to it. if not next time if wanna feed outside, will be difficult. so i'll just walk around carrying him to make him continue..

my boy used to poo once a day. now bout 2-3 times a day. solid.
 
jeanie, my boy is so alert that my hubby walks into the room quietly (cuz we know this boy gets distracted easily) and my boy noticed i was looking at my hubby and then stop latching to look at his daddy!

hmm..she don't drink a lot actually, average 700ml per day, on good days or if she wakes up early, then maybe can hit near 800ml.

ya, she is easily distracted. can't talk while feeding her, if not she will refuse her milk.
will try to feed her in the room later. Used to do that too.
 
skinneybeenie, maybe he saw u looking at your hb, thats why he wanna look at wad you are looking..

similar situation happen, so normally i'll give a quick signal to whoever is approaching or walk ard. but because i give fm, it takes ard 5mins for him to finish, so quite ok. latching takes a longer time tho.. maybe u can signal before anyone comes near..

but my hb always tell me that she won't be in hunger one..cos i always try to make her finish her milk but she will struggle with me if she doesn't want to drink.
 
moscato, for mine, one reason for him to drop in milk is when he feels bloated, some indigestion. ie, when he never poo for one day..

yah, mine will struggle when he dun wan to finish. but i just let it be. dun wanna force him too much cuz my friend's boy got phobia of drinking milk! during the early stage, they keep forcing bm on him cuz they dunwanna waste it. which makes him grew phobia on it. so the caregiver(grandma) can only feed when he's sleepy.. poor thing lor..

there's a period i struggle with my boy cuz the milk flow too fast. makes him dun really wanna drink. keep choking. teats problem. lucky found out soon.. now ok liao.

where got baby not hungry wan.. maybe too much semi solids?
 
ainsley, whenever your bb is ready for solids. start 2 solids only few months after you started the single solid feed.

ie, i replace one solid when he's 4mth. will give 2 solids when he's 8months..
 
ivy, if no milk then drink water. last week, i overtired my boy and he refuse milk. wasted 2btl of FM.. but he gladly drinks water instead..

aiyoh, hope enyu guai guai, no more milk strike..
 
ya..nowadays i will try again after half an hr. if she still refuse, i will give up. For the last feed, usually she will continue drinking after i change pyjamas &amp; let her play in her playpen for a while.

how much cereal/ porridge you give each time?
 
i also give around that much, i'm using pigeon dish bowl, about 1/2 to 3/4 bowl for porridge. If cereal, about 3-4 tablespoon with 70-90ml diluted milk.

my gal is 6.5mths now. i giv her cereal/fruit puree in the noon den evening giv her veg puree wiv brown rice powder. the rest is latch on demand. am i overfeeding? cos u said 1 solid a day? normally after the fruit puree she will latch in 1 hr time too.
 
Carol, I oso give nn purée in noon then cereal in evening. Bt thinking if I m giving her too much solid now... N hor, I v hard to find time to pump for cereal since I m total latch!! Hw u pump for cereal ah?
 
moscato, oic.. i still scare i give too much..

o carol, i give 1 solid per day cuz i replace it with one milk feed. because you latch on demand, its bit difficult to gauge. how many latch per day? how long is the interval? did you set a specific timing for the semi solids? very unlikely overfeeding. when she burp, got puree/congee particles came out? if not, shld be ok.

mine, a typical day,

7-8am milk
11-12pm congee
2pm milk
3pm puree(not daily. prolly once a week. around 2 tablespoon)
5-6pm milk
8-9pm milk

i suppose fruit puree cant replace a feed. i treat it as a dessert. brown rice powder is filling.. how much did you give each time?
 
ainsley, i lazy to pump. i add fm for the cereal hehee..btw,i wana wean her off bm le. so i start to use fm . but hor dis few days she refuse to take fm liao..sianzzzalways change pattern wan lor.

jeanie, sad to say my gal no timing wan le. cos her zzz pattern oso cock up wan. sometimes can be same pattern everyday den sometime dun wan zzz...so normally is latch wen she awake, follow by bath den play play, den the puree...den nap,play ,latch on demand follow by brown rice for dinner and latch to zzz..

gals, for those who dun hav oven at home can try my method. i jus made pumpkin puree to store for my gal. as i dun have an oven at home,i used my rice cooker and it worked well.but i duuno bout the conventional rice cooker,as mine is the "modern" rectangular type wan which can bake cake too... tink dey call it the intelligent cooker for certain brands.can use to cook congee n boil soup wan.i followed ivy's method. put the pumpkin skin down in the pot,den i added a splash of water in it cos i scared it will be too dry den end up "chao da". bake in the pot for 1hr. at first i put timer to 45min,but i find nt soft enuf, so i add another 15min. v easy lor, wen the thing is cooking inside u can do other stuff, wen done,jus use spoon to scoop out n mash den frezze.:>
 
Carol, oic. Aiyo. If I can replace 1milk feed then I can pump la. If nt, ltr pump Liao then she wana latch I oso duno hw. Or latch Liao oso nt much milk left. =(
 
carol, oic.. no routine abit difficult to gauge. as long as she feeds well, poop well and never regurgigates feed out, then wont be too full or overfeed. if she feels bloated, may be signs of overfeed as overfeed may cause indigestion.

u pump la,den u dun use all for cereal ma. the balance u can feed her for nxt feed so nn will have milk dee..cos ceral oni need little milk ma,i giv bout 30-40ml le,cos 60ml is too diluted i find.
 
PD asked me what other foods i let her try when i brought her for 6 mths jab. I said only cereal &amp; carrots.

He asked me to give her more varieties, can start her on porridge too. i let her tried and she likes it. So i give her cereal in the morning and porridge in the evening.

gals u will not belive it~!! she did it again!! i was prepareing her dinner while my hub was napping wiv her. guess wat? i heard her cry .... i went in the room and der she was on the floor again!!! my hub had put her to zzz nxt to him n he fell asleep himself lor!!! die la like tat..keep falling down the bed everyday wait become "gong gong "liao!!!

wanna chk how to add ebm to cereal?
erm, do i add water to cereal 1st, then add ebm?
do i nd to warm the ebm 1st?
gonna start my boy on cereal in 2 wks' time when he's 6 mths old.
or shld i start with fruit / vege puree?

im still at work and sis called to tell me that ryan is down with slight fever... 37.9 deg.. feel so heartpain..
 
ainsley, why not jus pump once in morning when u r full.. or else v busy..

actually i dun pump, i jus latch.. cereal mixed with water.. anyway babies also need water, its good for their teeth cuz there is fluoride.

my solids never replaced milk feed. my boy still can take milk 1/2-1 hr after solids..

my routine is like tt:
5-630am: milk feed (varies according to what time i get waken from sore boobs or my boy make noise)
7am: he wake up play by himself for abt 1/2hr+
830am: milk feed
10am: nap
11.30-11.45am: veg+rice cereal
1230pm-12.45pm: milk feed
1pm: nap
3pm: milk feed
4pm: nap
530pm-545pm: fruits+cereal
630pm: milk feed
10pm: milk feed dreamfeed

so in total still 6 milk feeds.. but still skinny boy.

jus now i brought him out in the lift, a woman told her teenage daughter to come look at my son and said "look, this boy got such big eyes".

so funny.. his eyes jus a bit big.. me and hubby dun think VERY big..so kua zhang..
 
moscato, carrot mixed with sweet potato is very nice :D

yesterday i got fed up feeding my boy banana brown rice cereal cuz he kept playing with the high chair buckle instead of eating properly.. so i finished the last bit of his food.. then he looked at me like v puzzled why mummy ate my food.. i told him too bad.. who ask u not to appreciate good food!
 
Carol, omg.. Is she ok? Not safe to leave unattended.. No high barriers?

Moscato, I tried fish twice but I scare phlegm.. Cuz my boy got phlegm easily.. But I tried pork le.. I put potato daily, alternate carrots. The thing is, I saw carrot in his poop.. Means not digested? Can continue?
 
jeanie, i din see carrot in my boy's poop, but i always see spinach when i give him spinach.. some more i only give like 2-3 leaves.. haha..

fish can get phelgm?

my boy sometimes cough a couple of times in night.. dunno is it saliva or what.. so strange.
 

Skinney, nn will latch at night so morning nt exactly full.. Hard to find time n chance to pump. Sigh~ n my ss dropped since my menses cm bk. Double sigh~ N I duno y v hard to gt letdown via pump. Triple sigh~ nw if I manage to pump then mix ebm. If nt then I jus mix with water. Bt I feel guilty when I jus mix with water instead of ebm..
