hollow,
Jumperoo is a variant of the exersaucer. An exersaucer provides a baby with different activities to do, while helping him to learn to stand. As I said earlier, a walker isn't really a tool that can help a baby to walk (unless you believe in this). A baby should learn to walk the proper way, ie, first by cruising (walking by holding on to sofa etc), then standing without holding to anything, then make his first move.

And on whether letting baby to stand too early might cause bowleg? You gonna monitor and observe your baby, as long as you don't do it for too long till stress up his leg muscle, then it's ok. I usually let my girl to "stand" for a few minutes only. She can happily play (in standing up position) in her exersaucer for up to 30min or so!

Thanks for ur advise...

Not yet complete "popiah", but i guess it won't be too long!!
I have never solved the mystery of babies stuffing their mouths. But it has been said that their most developed organ is their mouth/tongue, so they tend to use their mouth/tongue to "feel" things instead of using their hands like what we would do.
Cos I'm sure you noticed, their hands aren't exactly mobile!

Re: Walker
I'm against walkers as well. Had one, let Josh use it, but it actually DELAYS the process of learning how to walk.
Cos when Josh kicked off the ground, the walker moves, and he just kept "walking" that way. Totally impeding the actual learning process!

Funniest thing is, he could cruise perfectly fine, but once you put him in the walker, he would do that kick-slide-kick-slide thing instead of walking with his own 2 legs.

In a fit of frustration, we bought him another type of walker – the kind that has a handle for the kiddo to hold, then gotta push it while they walk? Tamade, within a month he didn't need it anymore.
Before that, he was cruising for a whole SIX MONTHS! Never heard of kids cruise for six months still dunwan to let go and walk...

kam> wow. 4.5mths can stand? my boy is oredi 4mths+8days, but no sign like he can stand
sad.gif

kiki> haha. yeah. guess drypers is really value for money. only bad thing is de adhesive stickers. sometimes my boy will jump up at nite =x if he's awake its ok. but i use drypers for day, pampers/mamypoko for nite. so dun affect me =p

bernice> i oso heard abt walker no good thing. so even though i had one when someone give me for bb first mth, i still nv let my boy use it. basically it's rotting there -_-

cookiezz> think u shuld juz get a preloved one. i got one at 20bucks to put at my dad's hm. =p

pamelia> same la. my boy stuffs anything he can find into his mouth. sometimes even my hands -_-

Anyone interested in this rocker?

http://www.flickr.com/photos/shimonsandler/3209621659/

Retailing at 139.90 at KP. After discount.

I was asking about it from someone who has a BN unopened one for sale.going at 100 But my itchy backside father went to buy elsewhere without telling me. -.-

If no one is interested by 8pm I'll tell the seller to let it to someone else.

shelled,
Yes, you are right, babies explore things around them via their mouth, before their hands/legs. So some child experts said shouldn't stop babies from putting things into their mouth, but of course must make sure whatever thing they put is safe lah.

Ya, your Josh a winner, I also never heard of a tod cruising for 6 months before walking! Certainly, the 1st type of the "walker" is really a hindrant than helping. The 2nd type of "walker" helps tod to walk, but not all would make use of it.

can use CB cream on the face ar?? is it edible? my gal will touch her face and put her hands in her mouth leh. i dont dare to put anything on her face, just wipe with tap water most of the time or warm water if i'm not lazy.

i left my sterilised bottles and pumps in the steriliser until i need to use them. no air dry as i tot it will defeat the purpose of sterilising.

kam
i'm ok with people i know carrying her, but not strangers who tend to be the ones touching her hands, tickling her face and chin and even tried to pinch!!

wow ur gal is so cute.. can stand on her legs with u holding her hands.. i've not tried that but everytime i carry my gal under her arms and make her sit down, she tries to push herself up in standing position. Yes i agree with the mummies that it's very tiring for my arms though she dont seem to feel tired at all!!! she likes to stand lor.

flipping
my gal have not made any attempt to flip also. Tmr will be her 4th month already... think she's a lazy gal...

shelled
but wont apple sauce be too sour for baby also? my mum says can give some barley water ar, can? spoon feed or bottle? anyway mil already tried giving her bits of cheng teng! but i'm not going to let her try a 2nd time.. not gd to have sweet food now.

no sterilisation after 6months
really??? i still tot of getting another steriliser at my mum's place leh.

bottle warmer
i also need another one... have been warming with water and changing the water recently as i gave my gal FBM at home. the bottle warmer i bought is at my mum's place.

kicking and rubbing feet
my gal has been kicking and rubbing her feet together lately that her socks keep coming off. My mum says not good to let her rub her feet as they tend to look bow-legged also. very busy now.. gotta stop her putting her hands in her mouth and stop her from rubbing her feet together.

kam
my girl absolutely HATES tummy time. thats why i think her crawling stage will be very slow, if ever! maybe she might go straight to walking i don't know. these days if i hold her up, she will use her legs to 'kick off' on my tummy or try to stand.

jul
i wonder if i was put in a walker when i was young or not. maybe not coz i don't have any baby photos in walker. then again...i have VERY few baby photos.
sad.gif
so sad...

michelle
yes! drypers is very 'loud', i also don't use it at nights after my girl's 9pm feed, afterwhich she will fall asleep till next morning. if not the tape so sticky and loud it will totally wake her up! so at nights i still use nepia lor...even though i find its not such a good fit as the drypers cutting for now.

walker
i don't think i will be getting this too.

exersaucer or jumperoo
am still thinking if i should invest in one of these or not. my girl's head still abit wobbly, can use these aleady or should wait?

Walker> the one I have was a gift frm my bridal studio actually.. If not, dun think we'll buy also.. Have then use Lo.. But didn't know got such bad review on walkers!!

I only heard abt the tip toe part.. Mmm.. Shall monitor rayanne n see how she progress then!!

Thanks mummies for the feedback!!

rach
not bad...i see the orders are progressing fast! hopefully reach min qty soon.

books from book depository
does anyone know how long it takes for the books to arrive? i noticed when i track order. some of my books says 'dispatched' while others are still 'processing'. :/ does it mean it will come in 2 different packages? anyone know can advise me? thanks!!!

Hi mommies,

Have u bought the medical insurrance for your bb? Which agent is better. Anyone done the comparision already?

Heard NTUC is good. I still flickling AXA or AIA.
Any suggestion?

flower4
your son getting better today? aiyo so poor thing..must take good care of urself too. if not where got strength to take care bb.

My son also keep drooling so what i do is constantly wiping his hand ...

Kam
Regarding the Jumperzoo - My son is now 4 months officially hee hee and i thinking to get the jumperzoo . But i heard can seat until 11kg only and my son is almost 8.5kg now, i worry that can sit only for a few months leh.

xmasc,
I don't own a Jumperoo. But I heard one mummies from the Jan08 thread that her 2 years old daughter now still jump/play with the Jumperoo! A Jumperoo/exersaucer is meant to be used for a few months only, cos as soon as they learn to crawl or walk, they might lose interest in the Jumperoo/exersaucer already cos they enjoy the freedom of being moving around than being locked in the jumperoo/exersaucer. Most likely your son will be gaining weight much slowler after 3-4 months. So, at least he can play with the Jumperoo until he is 1 year old or when he starts walking, and if he hasn't got sick of the Jumperoo/exersaucer by then.

Kam,
hmm..thinking should i rent instead haiz since tehre are a couple of website renting out toys...wondering whether would it be more economical hahahaha

Connie,
for medical insurance, its good to get those shield plan that can use your medisave to pay. for eg, my husband and i have Aviva Myshield plans. so my kid is covered for free till he is 20years old. i like Aviva shield plan as there are additional benefits like extra payout for major illness range from $50k to $150k/policy yr, max payout of $150k to $500k for diff plans. Other insurance companies have such plans too...

use the $ that you are able to come out with every mth to get other type of insurance for other purpose for eg. study fund.

drooling
my girl also drooling lots nowadays. when she tries to talk, she will be like blowing bubbles like a hermit crab. lol. these days i notice she likes to put 1 finger in her mouth and keep touching her lower gums. i think perhaps she is feeling her teeth which might be coming out soon?? hmm....

mummies
do u let your babies watch tv? i noticed my girl is very interested to watch tv, when she watches TV (any program) her eyes don't even blink!! so i'm wondering if i shd get some children dvds for her or not. but i remember reading somewhere before that watching tv is not so good for young infants. is it true?

Vivolife (which covers 30 critical illnesses, death and Permanent total dsiability) with limited premium payment term starting from only 10 years up till 25 years is a good whole life plan for your child cos of the low premiums.

Moreover you can also treat it as a savings plan for yourself cos you dun have to pay a single cent once the premium term is reached and your child is covered till age99.

If you are interested, pls let me know. I can be reached at 91789824.

Princess
Both parent covered under AIA now. They don exxtend to bb.

Anyone done comparison before. My colleague told me NTUC premium is cheaper and same function as the rest. Cheaper to get NTUC. I drop email to NTUC but no reply. Notime to go down.

pamelia hehe, she only has 1 Eeyore...a gift from my uncle

michelle Actually, i was quite suprised that she has a preference!! I gave her a golden labrador soft toy (my favourite) but she prefers EEYORE! arghh!!!

hihi mummies,
Can I join u all? I've got a sept bb boy last year and would like to join u mummies in discussion too.
happy.gif

Can ask if ur bbs have learnt to flip already?
already 4mth plus and no signs of flipping.

Connie,
I've done the comparison between Aviva and NTUC before 3 years ago.
Find that IncomeShield enhanced is quite good, as it can cover the 10% co-insurance (or is it the deductible? can't remember) with a affordable rider, which Aviva dun really have at tat time.
But there is a clause in NTUC policy which I don't really like, something about claiming muz go thr their panel of doctors and muz inform 4 days notice before admission. I was like, "huh, how to anticipate hospitalization beforehand."
However I think there has been alot of changes since then, so better check up online or with ur financial planner.

Btw, think in 2008, MOH has published a comparison between all the shield plans online, but no updates after that.
The link is as follows:
http://www.moh.gov.sg/mohcorp/uploadedFiles/Healthcare_Financing/Medishield/Comparison%20of%20IPs_wef%201%20Sep%202008.pdf

Connie> got the Aviva shield quite long ago, that time i felt it was the best after studying diff insurance plans from diff companies....
dont know now...
i think you can get the premium and benefit infos from e diff company websites. :p
i got Aviva bec of the lump sum benefits under 5 major illness(copied from dbs website- heart attack, cancer, stoke, end stage lung disease and end stage liver disease).. so dont need to buy another critical illness plan.
actually there is also additional payout for major organ transplant( 50k to 250k/ policy yr, max policy claim of $150k to $500k depend on which plan)

got for my mum too as can use my medisave to pay for her plan.

actually as shield plans are using medisave, and premiums are paid yrly, you can change insurance company easily provided health conditions are ok.

pacifier
Do we need to change pacifier often/based on age? I'm still using the 0-3 months avent ones...do I need to change them?

prinzess55,
yah but hor, the cash rider not cheap wor...
anyway, got aviva too, cos it covers kids up to 20 years old foc, if both parents got it too.

Connie,
heard from my planner, it's best not to change shield plans cos if *touchwood* got some illness surfaced during the switching of plans, both companies are not liable to pay for it. So maybe u do ur comparisions and decide on one. Think nowadays shieldplans quite competitive, if 1 company changes its policy, the others will slowly follow suit... ha
