(2009/08) August 2009 MTBs

pegs: since ovann wakes up at about 9am, how about either waking him up earlier and push the nap time back to perhaps 12 and 5pm or let him sleep later and give only one nap?

but as ur mum says, he'll be napping lesser now since he's bigger liao..

maids
get those that can pay by installments or postdated cheques. if anything wrong w maid and u need a new one.. and can't get one frm current agent, less messy to find a new agent.. some agents die oso dun wanna return u ur money if u wanna switch half way, even if, fault is on maid or that there is no suitable biodata

polliwogs
outdoor boucing castle not suitable for 1yrs old..they r not able to climb up the steps onto the slide.. if they bounce at the bottom of the slide.. dangerous when bigger kids slide down.. near the seaside oso.. dirty.. i wouldn't let my 1 yr old there..kept my 1 yr old indoor .. while i climbed up n slide down w the 3yrs old..

Playgroup

Thinking of enrolling Sam in playgroup coz all he ever does is watch cartoons at MIL's. I tried gog to the MCYS childcare link to search for playgroups but all it states are childcare centres.

Is there anywhere else where I can find a list of playgroups? Or do I have to plow thru the entire list & check the centres one by one??? Pls tell me there's an easier way!

jul/ baby s

That was wat my mum suggested also, push his morning nap to early afternoon so that he will conk out by 9 .... maybe i can try this tomorrow

For playgroups, i had the same problem with you oso, all stated are childcare ctrs. So wat i do is to look out for banners hung around my place and found a few. I think Talent Plus and Apple tree are some ctrs which are common in neighbourhood. U might wanna check out:

http://www.appletree.com.sg/playgroup/reg.php?id=21&name=Sengkang

http://www.organise4u.com.sg/TALENTPLUS.htm

pegsfur

Seems like Ovann sleeps less than Sam???

Thanks for the links. I'm looking for playgroups near Toa Payoh tho. Coz need to ne MIL's mah. Now I put Sam there in the am then come to work, & pick him up in the evening after work.

jul

I dun really keep track of how many hours ovann sleeps ... hahaha .. as long as he gets his 2 naps and guai guai sleep at nite .. lol
happy.gif

Oh ya, i forgot sam's at your mil's place. I think appletree has branches at TPY too, can check out. Maybe u can also check with the RCs? Alot of these ctrs collarborate with rc de.

Apple tree only take from 2yrs old onwards.

Talent plus, i called the one enar my office, 18 months onwards, no need to be toilet trained, about $130- $160 something (cna use CDA), excludes uniform and material cost (collected half yearly.)

So far the talent plus one is the only one that meets my needs.

Sunflower playgroup, requires the tods to be toilet trained first. *scratch head* they couldnt answer me when i ask them "how many of your 18 months old toddlers are toilet train by th time they join?"

pegsfur

Oh I'm very obsessed with Sam's sleeping hrs so I aws keep track haha

I saw Appletree branch at Toa Payoh but BabyS says Apple tree takes in kids from 2yrs. I'm looking for 18 mths one. Hiaz..

babys

Huh? If they required toilet trained kids, then their toilet trained kids shd be 100% right? *scratch head too*

pegsfur

javier skip one nap too since months back.. he used to nap around 11+am and 4pm lasting for abt 1+hr each, but now he oni take one nap around 1+pm and wakes up abt 4+pm.. then at nite sleep around 10+pm, wakes up 8+am..

babyS:: hahaha.. prolly u should ask them.. then how many 18mth todds they have in their centre!?!
(wonder hw many 18mth todds r fully toilet trained... so li hai......)

piggy:: we went to LV @ICON on sat le.. hmmm.. Mattea & Keona like the plc la.. they were playing n laughing so loudly.. they really looked like they enjoyed their time there pretty much. but we were there early, so we're the only ones! haha. hb kind of prefer the facilitators there to CH. to me, i tink the environment there wld b better s compared to corporation (evn like the type of traffic around the plc.. corporation there alot of heavy commercial vehicles!) but yup... the fee is a kill. so, still need considerations! oh then agn oso, they said they r quite full, cld possibily end up in their waitlist!

hb's fren said he might be able to get a discount for us for MB, so prolly will wait till 20th nov go c their open hse then make a final decision.

but thnx for sharing abt LV.. cos i prolly wun consider IBP in the first plc de... :)

hello mummies! its been a long time...

pegsfur - ethan nap ard 10+ and 3+ he wakes up ard 7.. his bedtime would be ard 830-9pm; but for weekends he slp ard 9-930 but wakes up ard 730-8...

if u off the light and leave him in the cot alone will he slp?

haio janice.. hw r u?

actually i oso 'interested' to know hw your todds sleep in the night arh?

haiya.. i feel like im really a lousy mummy leh. i used to try to read to them on a few occassion.. but.. YES! i said 'a few occassion' cos..ya..tried afew times.. when i try to read their...they will start to fight with me for the book, then..or..they will fight with each other to have the book!! then, they will bcm more n more jeng xin after fighting!!!! so hor like tat, aft trying couple of times, i totally forget abt the idea liao! whether i hv the room light on or off.. no difference.... they will be so 'busy' for so long before they can finally fall asleep.

i noticed too these days, they r sleeping later le. over the weekends, they totally did not hv aftnn naps! both days! same, sleep abt 9ish-pm..wake up at least twice for night feeds, n wake up 6ish-am!!!

-.-"

jul: thats why lor.. their reason (for the one i called) is that they dont have a diaper changing area. I was thinking, a non toilet trained toddler wearing diapers, is safer than a non diaper wearing toilet trained or in training toddler!! toilet trained sure got accident sometimes too right..

bobo: these few days i've been letting shayna fall asleep in her own bed rather than on mine. Fri and Sat ok. (but i gave her magmag till she fell asleep). I either stand at bed and watch her or sit on my ebd and watch (no patting) Last night, didnt want her to become dependent on magmag, she could only lie down and had difficulty getting to sleep leh.. And together with the meltdown b4 that, she toss and turn till 11plus, didnt work. then i give up (cos i also tired liao), brought her onto my bed..

hi fatbobo...

i hv to rock ethan to slp every nite but i make sure he slp ard the same time everyday ... grab him into e room n drink milk den argue over bedtime den after 30mins he'll ooorrr himself to slp

Putting Baby to Sleep

Haha! My Sam is the ultimate one. He will not want to sleep. So our bedtime routine is to bathe him, change him, feed him milk. Then he will demand to come down from his cot & will run ard the room, taking things out from his cupboards & making a big mess. I will have to close the door to keep him in & on the aircon too coz he can't sleep if he's hot *duh*

Then Hubs will come in after his shower & put him to sleep. He will off the light, put Sam in the cot, & let him roll ard, stand up, put him down, roll ard, etc etc till he sleeps.

Nap time is worse! I will struggle with him coz he will keep screaming to come out of the cot & play. And I will carry him in, carry him out, carry him in, stuff pacifier,... scream scream.. carry him in.. & sometimes it still doesn't work & I will just let him be till he collapses of his own accord! HIAZ!

I'm the only one who put my gal on mattress to sleep? hee, my gal has outgrown the cot. she was on her own mattress since she was 6months old. our cot is pass down by aunty.. so it's the old old type..

my gal can go to bed without patting but i've to be in the same room with her. she would cry if i go out of the room
sad.gif
haiz..everytime miss my fav TV.

bahahahahhahaa~~~~ so cute ethan!!! simi 'argue'?!? bahahahahahhahahahahahaaa~ sam oso la... LOL~

my girls sometimes oso jia lat one! faint! until i bcm angry! cos normally i will try to let them sleep before i go take my dinner... imagine on nights when my hb is not ard.. i will oni b hvg supper n no dinr! last mon oso..they finally slept at 9ish-pm..den hb came hm at 10pm, n brought me out to hv crab supper!! (heee!)

owas like war lar hor.. trying to get them to sleep! bahahaha.. we adults cant wait to be able to be hm to nuah in bed n sleep... they hv so much energy.. evn aft nice shower, milk.. aircon... still lu lai lu jeng xin most of the times!

18 mths to be fully toilet trained really very impressive! :p

haha ya lor babys, you should be asking how many of them since like Jul mentioned all will be toilet trained already :p

bobo

For my gal, she sleep alone since she is born. After her milk, we will put her into her playpen close the door and she will sleep on her own. Sometime will cry and refuse to sleep. We will ignore her and she will sleep eventually. No one can be in that rm if not she will not sleep. She will need her smelly pillow when she sleep. She cant sleep without her pillow.

wow.. SL.. so good.. your gal can sleep on her own alone.

if i put both of them together..alone in the room.. most likely they will be playing or end up fighting for duno how long before they will be real drained n sleep.

there were once or twice, Mattea (i tink) even played till she fell asleep on the floor! bahaha~

last time we used to off the lights n let them sleep de... then dat time..errrh.. when i had so much challenges dealing with them alone.. i had to keep the lights on. ya, prolly i shld start agn nw..to off the lights to signal it's sleep sleep time!

I also need to be with Nat in the room when she sleep.
I usually try to pat her so its faster for her to sleep, then I can go do my things..hahaha..cos if im on my bed, she will want to kpo and come up to see wat im doing.

But if I try to pat her, she will always push my hand away then do the patting herself, even when she is almost drifting to sleep...so funnie..heehee..
Oh she sleep on mattress on the floor since 4+ months..

Procedure is to off the light, will carry her to swtich off the light, let her drink milk then she will toss n turn to find her sleeping position of the night then doze off...
But there are also some nites she dun want to sleep n keep pointing at the door indicating that she want to go out..
So need to let her say good nite to everybody b4 bringing her in to bed, to let her assume that everyone else is sleeping too...

She sleeps ard 10+pm n wakes up 8-9+am on weekend with naps ( ranging abt 45min to an hr )
Weekday will sleep abt 11+pm and wakes 8-9+am with 2 naps (ranging abt 1-2 hrs each)

Now that she is older, when she wakes up and want milk, will come to me and try to pull up my shirt to latch on...hahahaha...

Think aaden only bullies parents. At my mil place he can sleep on his own. Back with us at nite and during wkends, I hav to be with him. Dun really need to pat him but to be next to him. Let him touch my hands, face...but I loved those times. Cos when he grows up, dun think he wants to sleep with mummy and daddy anymore.

Anyway yesterday we Kenna stares from this couple in the restaurant. Aaden was screaming. Haiz...u think I like it when he screams meh? Everytime aaden screams, he would stare at us. Totally spoil my mood.

joycec:: ya lor.. Aaden not u guys la.. he's enjoying the moments spend with u.. n ya.. wana play with u & be close to u..

true like u said... these moments..when the little ones 'sayang' us... really..ya.... they will hardly do that when they're older or grown up liao! hoho.

i was telling my frens.. i actually hv tots to try for 3rd one.. but then, only recently.. after settling the 'issue'..... i feel like as if i just 'started' my relationship my my girls now! im so enjoying it.. although it means late dinr or supper n getting very very fat... but seriously..im loving it! n yes, felt like as if we juz started, n i really couldn't bear to like hv 'another new comer' to 'come in between' us (if u noe wat i mean!!!)... really! so ya, im putting off the planning for a 3rd to a latr stage now!!

bobo

Cos she sleep with the confinement lady since we discharge fm hospital. So we jus let her sleep on her own cos my room unable to accommodate her liao.... Hehehe... Cos #1 refuse to sleep on her own. She is too used to sleep with us. So it gd to let her sleep on their own.

How she fall asleep on the floor? Thought she suppose to be in her cot rite? I agree that why i dun dare to let #1 to sleep with her if she want. Think both dun hv to sleep.

U shd try to off the light now. Cos my #1 v use to sleep with light on until recently she stop it... Haiz...

Dolce

Nat is so cute... Patting herself to sleep.

joyce c

U're so lucky
sad.gif
Sam will never want to lie in my arms or touch me etc. He will just smack me! And if he climbs into my lap, he'll sit there for 2 seconds, & struggle to get off again. I really wonder why he bothers

joycec

Dont know why hv this kind of ppl. Kid wana scream how can we stop them rite. As if we want them to scream. That time i brought both my gal to mcdonald. Than my younger gal kept saying mua mua (wana eat). Than e lady teaching a student beside us kept staring at me. I thought of telling her if u dont like than dun studying here. Piss off....

haha.. Keona oso will owas pat herself.. or smtings pull our hands to pat her. Nat so cute, just pull up the blouse for latching... if outside she will not do that hor? hehe.

SL:: both my girls had been sleeping in their queen-sized bed since they were 1.5mths after our confinement nanny left. their cot had been transformed to their changing counter since then. they oso sleeping in the room themselves. but difference from your girl is.. they r not as guai.. we cant leave them to themselves..alone.. in the room niah. haha. hfta be with them, make sure they're not up to any mischieve..n try to sleep. sighz.

juz last evng.. Keona bite hb's hand.. same spot..repeatly for at least 7-8 times! kaoz..hb oni 'ouch'..n kept laughing..n Keona oso kept laughing aft each bite.. den i scolded hb.. he kept laughing.. so of cos the little girl will tink it's funny n kept on biting mah! pengz!

oh, i dun let my girls touch the switch leh.. although they owas like to switch the lights on n off..cos they owas c us.. but.. like esp my PILs, owas play weird tings with my girls..(duno wat's wrong with them!!!)..open fridge sit them in..teach beer, wine, champaigne..etc..(f**k manz!)..n like swtiches!!!!! kaoz.. duno when their little fingers will be wet..or if there will be a power trip...get them used to touching the switch..n wat if...i mean wat if la.... the little ones suffer or them!?!

ya joycec/SL... i tink kids screaming or shouting is a kids' ting.. hw to stop them? stuff their mouth with char siew bao?!? unless it's like a holy plc, n ya.. silences need to be observed.. but im sure then, parents will know how to control or bring the kid out of the plc de mah.

i tink wat's more irritating r those parents shouting n screaming at kids instead the other way round!

oh sh*t!!! i muz remind myself not behave like that in future!! darn! i tink i will end up like an auntie n scream n shout in public one of these days! oh nooooooooooooooooo~

jul,
most playgroup like appletree and talentplus they oni accept when they turns 3 years old.
some childcare ctr offer flexible care, that is on a daily basis 3 hour programme from monday to friday, govt subsidy is S$110 for working mum. kinderland @ YCK offer such programme.

Yah, not that I like him to scream. If only there is a mute button. The auntie sitting in the next table totally ignored his screams, guess she knows that its common. I also dunno where he got his screaming fits from. But this doesn't stop me from bringing him out.

Bobo, I know what u mean by that. Now with me havin #2 around the corner I really dunno whether I can do this with aaden again. I will try.

Dolce, this brings self service to a new height. Hahah

joyce, wat's more annoying for my case is... my FIL 'taught' or encourage my girls to scream!!!! n i cant do anything!!!!!!! very very irritating n annoying n watnot rite?

many mths ago, when they started to expand their vocal cord n realised they could scream... my FIL would scream back n each scream my girls screamed!!!! bl**dy hell... aint he 'teaching' them to scream even more!!! i cant do anything! i noe sm of u will tell your PILs off or wat.. but..i cant!!!!!! F**K!!!

ystrday my girls oso threw abit tantrum in the restaurant, but luckily it was under control pretty well n fast!! he still bl**dy laughed n said.. "wah u can shout arh!".. i was tinking.. "ya thanks to u lor"....yes, oni able to tink niah..can oni talk back n scold in my heart only!!!

pathetic!!!!

Bobo, I can associate with that. Cos my mil talks very loudly. Sometimes my hb niece would also talk very loudly to aaden when he was not supposed to do something. The next door neighbor kid also scream. Haiz...

There wAs once hb niece was playing with aaden and she started screaming. I dunno why I flared up and told both of them which includes aaden not to scream. Think she scared, quickly went to the room. I will endure most of the time, when I flare up...Cham "quiet dog attacks till u die"

bobo

Oic... thought yr gal is sleeping in the cot and able to get out of it on their own. Hehehe... My gal is no choice. Cos she cant get out of her playpen without any help.

Dolce,

Denson pat himself to sleep too!

but i always hold his hand down, i scare he pat until he more awake..

n YES, at times, denson will kip pointing to the door n insist of going out.. he will cry if i dont bring him out.. i will bring him out to say good nite to daddy n walk him back into the room again.. 1 ultimate nite, my hubby has to switch off all the lights n walk in the darkness b4 he decided it's sleeping time!

joyful, nat

same same, my gal keeps pointing at the door too. sometimes she'll self service, walk to the door, and try to turn the door knob.
she'll keep trying and then i'll grab her back to her bed. haha, evil mum. but funny ah. heheheh

talking abt sleeping habits, can any of your kiddos climb out of the cot?

i only put my gal in her cot when she's asleep but problem is, when she wakes up she will shout and try to climb out of the cot.
though she hasn't been successful yet, but i see like half her body almost out. so dangerous!

her cot is now in our room but we wld like to put it back to her own room. but the worry is when she wakes up in the morning or in the middle of the night, we wun be able to get to her the moment she shouts..how??

when can we convert cot to toddler bed? now too early?

need mummies' opinions here. regarding dinning with baby outside.

do you find it easier to feed baby at home first then give snacks during dinner outside? or bring baby's dinner out to eat together?

i'm still trying to overcome the difficulties of bringing my gal out for meals
sad.gif

she refuse to stay in the child seat.
any tips to share?

Re: sleep
I'm one lazy mummy...my boy has no schedule at all
Normally he sleepa bout 10-11pm, wakes up at 8am...not sleeping thru
Since 4mths one he has been sleeping in between us
Alot of ppl have been commenting it's a bad habit but we just want enjoy the moments while we can...due to work spend v little time with him so compensate by sleeping together
Sometimes wake up in the middle of the nite to find ryan's leg or butt at my face...

Deebee,
I always bring ryan's porridge out during mealtime
He can't sit still for long unless he has entertainment
I will bring toys, books let him play...else give him anything to play like spoon, cup, sugar, straw...also must feed him watever we eat...last choice, iPhone n he will sit still

Joyful,

Really !! Think Denson and Nat really similar leh..I tried that b4 too, switching off the lights to let her think that Everyone else is also sleeping !....

Deebee,
Previously when feeding Nat porridge for both lunch n dinner, im ok to bring it out and feeding her outside...
But now that Im feeding her rice for dinner, with soup, rice n dish, more troublesome to bring out..so will feed her first then we go out for dinner...
Was considering to get the lunch jar so can bring her dinner out..but tats not cheap..
Otherwise think will let her have porridge if have plan to be out during her dinner time...

Sharon,

iphone is also my last resort...
I record some video from BabyTV VCD (just like those pirated CD ) and Nat simply loves them..will be auto dancing and laughing mode once i play those songs...ez to feed her and can ask her to do anything !!

just some random stuff

hair cutting
we have problems getting zac to have a proper haircut and finally found a solution at junior leagues at suntec, he manage to sit through and have a proper hair cut.

playgroup
still no luck in getting a playgroup/childcare slot n my area, wrote to the MP in frustration and the reply wasn't very useful either as the centre he suggested is quite far away. (20 min walk, no direct bus)

#2
think cycle failed, haven't done bloodtest, feeling very despondent.

sleeping
zac is not sleeping through the nights, he goes to bed at 10pm-1030pm, wakes up at 2am and 5 or 6am for milk, wakes up at 730 or 8 or 830am.

he naps around 1230pm for an hr or so only, think he;s not getting enough sleep, but he's stubborn, and protest if we force him to nap (which defeats the purpose of napping)

smurfy, my girl can take 4-5 days between passing motion. Because her intestines are not working fast enough to expel the food she takes. That's the only symptom. There's nothing that can be done except to feed her fiber, vege, fruits etc, according to PD. I have been giving TCM and it helps.

Babymaking, dun give up hope! Will you be trying another cycle?

pegsfur, how about move his morning nap earlier and only allow it to be 30 mins, then afternoon nap is 2-4pm... then he will definitely want to go to bed for the night by 8pm! That's Isaac's routine and it works well for him. By 8pm, I will just put him in the room to sleep and switch off the lights...

Dear all,
Realise really no chance to login or sit infront of my PC at all as compare to at work! SAHM really not a easy job!

Regan was not well for almost 2 weeks, not to sure was it running nose or just sensitive nose or was due to the haze, he got running nose during the day and cant sleep well at nite, bought him to PD, was given nose drop and oral med for sensitive nose to take for 5 days, after that, he still not fully recover so i try YU REN SHENG BA BAO SAN, he seems better and he finally back to his sleeping pattern which only wake up once or twice...mummies that ur baby still not sleeping thru, u r not alone, cos Regan till day also not yet lor! only once in a blue moon!

Re : Sleeping/ nap time

Regan still nap twice a day, 1030am-11am and 2.30pm -4pm, last feed at 845pm he will knock out by 930pm latest.
