tell her if dun give chewy bits, next time he only wants porridge. How old is he going to eat porridge till? Worse still, like my son refused to eat coz need to chew. Better start. One year old already. No more baby. Btw, my gal is still growing. Didn't stop at all. Very soon will catch up with your boy. :p tell her it's coz my gal eats solid food and chews. So grow bigger. I think porridge is not enough to keep your boy full, that's why still drink so much and eat frequently.

Hiaz.. my nieces at 7 & 5 still dun wanna eat the stem of vegs coz they always pick out the nicest, softest, tenderest, sweetest leaves for them to eat.

Anyway, me tell her no use one. She will just do things her way. That's y I just wanna give up n go back to work n let her be!

That time I wanted to give Sam eggs on consecutive days. She keeps saying he will get indigestion! WEATHER TOO HOT.. TDY BETTER NOT EAT EGG. posset a bit of milk in the morning, dun eat egg. Veg must be blended! I already pulsed it in the blender till it's finely chopped. She's still not happy to see bits in his poo. Says it's not digested. Shd be blended till watery ten he wun have any bits in his poo! I wanna cry sometimes.

I wonder if u remember how small my gal was. Everyone commented on it at the gathering at babymaking's place. She's now 8.9kg and still putting on. She can gain 400g in a week. Scary. Her growth has not slowed down despite many pp saying will slow down after 1 yr old. Think maybe playing catch up now.

that must be so stressful for u! Your hb didn't say anything? It's normal for kids to have undigested food. Even I still find corn in my own poo. Oops, sorry for being disgusting.

Bring her to our gathering, then we give her some 'colour'. Hahaha. Then can show her how well our kids have grown with a coarser diet. Seriously, to stop growing after 7-8mths can be of concern.

Stop growing? Like stop gaining mass but still growing in length?
For active kiddos, its difficult to keep gaining mass, but should still continue to grow in length. like that also consider growing.

My boy only sees his dad once a month, so naturally will only want him to carry when going out. But if my hb is around, I will totally hands-off, until at night.

Hubs agrees with me lor. But we also talked abt it, & agreed that some things.. just gotta close one eye. Whatever I can control / stand firm, I'll do so. Smaller battles, I'll give it up. O/w I'll lose the war in the end, u know what I mean?

Sam was 8.9kg at ard 6mths? Then after that weight gain was very slow till 10.4kg lor.
 
jul: I think elderly have this thinking that if u keep porridge for too long, will cause stomach upset..

I think a lot of us do this though, keep for 2 meals and our kids are fine... so tell ur MIL it wil lbe fine..

If ur MIL blend up the vegs just so she doesnt see it in the poo, she want to bluff her self is it... if not digested it will not be digested. Just that she blend it up until so fine cannot see... Kids will digest what they need and whatever they dont need they will pass it out!

my friend gave her son purple/ blue potatos that day with milk and his poo came out looknig turquoise!!!

He needs to have bits in the food so he can learn to chew. If she feels he doesnt know how to chew thats cos she doesnt give him a chance too..

I hope u move back to ur own place soon!!!

Hahaha .. ovann's porridge is kept from abt 8+am till 5+pm. Old pple say will have wind if reheat the porridge. Well, i hardly hear ovann farts!

Dat day my mil oso .. passed her stupid virus to ovann and ovann fell sick. Asked her if she's sick she till deny, and went on to carry & hug & kiss ovann. True enuf, ovann caught the bug from her. So blardy angry with her.

ya, I remember Sam was one of the bigger babies here. So he gained 1.5kg in 6 mths? My gal was 6.2kg at 6mths. Gained about 2kg till 1 yr old. I guess bigger babies gain slower as they get older? The 700g was a recent gain in the last month after I let her eat rice and table food. But she still look petite just like me when I was younger.
 
jul, yes its hard to tell ILs what to do when they are looking after the kids. My MIL is a nice person, but I don't always agree with her and I can't change much of that because its her looking after Isaac not me. She has helped me look after 3 kids, so I "kan kai" already. What I do when they turn 2 yrs old, is send them to childcare and away from MIL. So that they start pick up a more strict routine. I'm sure things will be better when you are back to work.

i rem javier's dietitian said healthy growth is abt 200g-500g for their age when i brought him for his check during the 9th month. so i believe anything around there shou b ok..

tink some older generation will have this kind of thinking.. mil told me say they cant digest mee sua, told me to stop giving and meehoon also.. i was like huh??? meesua so soft.. insist that i shou oni feed porridge to javier.. then i ask 1 nanny at my house here, she say ok for baby to eat..

actually my boy cant really chew too.. i tried pasta star with bigger pc of minced pork and that pc of pork can stay in his mouth for so long until he dun wan to eat anymore.. keep pushing the whole plate away.. then i mix with puree, he ok.. haiz..

i see bits of carrot and spinach in javier's poo too even tho i mash the carrot..
 
juz to check whether ur pd check the height and weight? i mean justify the percentile for height and weight together not individually? mine no.. din even know till my friend told me..

200-500g is for how long a period? Per month? I know the growth slows down after one. So how much is the range? Anyway my elder boy's growth slowed to a standstill after one. He was 10kg at 1 yr old. Now at nearly 5yrs old, only 13kg partly coz he doesn't like to eat. Last time he didn't like to chew and will have meats leftover unless I blend everything. So I'm pretty scared my gal will stop growing too.

My pd will only measure height when doing the assessments but weight at every visit.

poor u seems like u havin a hard time at ur IL house... u have ur own flat right? have u thot of takin care of Sam on ur own while u not workin ? at least no nonsense from ur MIL temporary?? my boi also dun like to chew tt y i try to gave him food like rice, bread n biscuit for him durin wkend cos my MIL also like to make fine porridge for him.. like Mich my MIL is quite nice but there r things i dun like n i cant control or interfere esp i need her help as i am workin.. so wkend i will take over fully i decide what i wanna gave him wat to eat n how i wan to handle him... since u r goin to work soon i tink u really gotta close 1 eyes cos behind u ur mil might continue to gave him food from her plate etc...
 
Different people have different parenting styles, even hubby and I have different styles of taking care of our kids. Because of our differences, we argue alot, and with inlaws, it's worse, they too have their own styles.

My SIL loves to give biscuits, potato chips, chocolates, sweets, ice-cream, coffee to my son, even when he is coughing and even before dinner.

Once a month, my son will have fever, could be due to childcare and due to the food he eats without drinking enough water.

Because I was staying with my inlaws, and i could only handle #2, they were helping me to take care of #1. I am grateful to them, but we just have different views with handling my kids.

Well, it was never easy staying with inlaws. I think i had depression - the house was always dirty, hubby doesn't help much with housework, i had to take care of #2, do housework, relationship with #1 grew further apart... i couldn't take it at times and vent frustrations at #1, relationship with #1 got worse... vicious cycle...

well, couldn't take it anymore, decided to get a maid and move to my new house. I couldn't move earlier because #2 was too young and i needed the help from my inlaws to take care of #1. (inlaws doesn't want a maid in their house)

My inlaws still have a lot of say in taking care of my #1, sometimes, i'm the last to know what is happening... hubby listens to his family more than me. Hiaz. Just have to accept it.

i jus return late today but i didn't bring Ethan cos my mom broke her leg yesterday while trying to clean the aircon. she wanted to clean the room to welcome me & my son, now she hurt becos of me. I really feel so bad, now she is on cast for at least 3 months and have to stay in nursing home cos no one to take care of her at home. will go visit her tomorrow morning.

so i will give the birthday bash a miss. i haven't been able to meet all the aug bubs.

my pd will check both the weight and height together(when it's vaccine appt)...
and she will analyze the chart and inform me if they are growing ok within how many percentile etc...

normal time like a visit to the pd for flu,fever etc...she won't bother to take the height lor...

i mean when during their assesment.. she will oni check his percentile individual for height and weight but nv justify his weight for height.. ya, for normal visit, she take weight oni, nv take height also..

my pd do that...weight against the height or height against weight ...to ensure that the growth is proportional..
 
Maybe now we can list out the categories, then mummies decide which event they want to let their baby join. THen we put a list of the pple in that category, then give each person a sticker and they can paste their vote?

i.e. Most sociable baby (yellow sticker)

One a piece of paper, we cna write all the names there and each family given one yellow stick for this category. Then they can stick their yellow sticker to the name that they wanna vote for.

Because not everyone will wanna join one category should be ok bah.. for example, if there is a most sociable baby and the parent knows their baby is shy and not participating in this category, they will then vote for someone else then....

for those obvious categories like heaviest, tallest, best crawler, best bitter, we can all judge for ourselves who is the winner.

But for categories like ,most chatty, mr/ ms congenitality, best laughter, prettiest eyes, best hair style, best smile (all i can think of for now), these can use the voting method that i suggested.

Or we can get one colour of stickers and we put initials of the category on it (i.e. BS= best smile) and the parents will know to use this sticker to vote for the baby with the best smile...

i know what u mean...justify against weight vs height...(not go by mths on the chart)

the last time #2 went for vaccine...
she did that and told me that his weight is not in her desire range of percentile (>50% range)...
but she checked is proportional to the height growth...so no issue..

I'm at my 'money hungry' mode again. Sigh. Coz discovered that our expenses was twice the income last month! Overspent already. And it didn't even include our holiday expenses. Feel so poor! Now wanna sell away things at home and go out and work. Sigh.

Baby height and weight measurement at clinic. Every time we visit the PD, the first thing is measure height and weight. It's the procedure in the clinic. Every baby must be measured. The PD will mark on the graph in the baby book the height, and weight. If it's not an injection visit, PD will not tell us baby's growth condition unless we ask but every injection visit, he will tell us the baby growth percentile. He will also measure the circumference of the baby head only during injection visit.

As discussed with Susan, I will bring along weighing scale to have the result for the heaviest / lightest baby. This would have no discrepancy as the winner is base on facts n not subjective.
So we were thinking to have another race for crawlers / walkers.

I like your idea with the sticker.
Maybe like you say, we will list out all the baby names on a board with columns, for best smile, sociable etc etc....
Then everyone who join the bash would be given a series of colour stars, so by say 3pm, everyone have to cast their votes and we can count the stars b4 we end our event to announce the winner.
What do all of you think of this ?
So which means now i need to get the list of baby names, hope voters wont mix up the names..hahahahahaha
If everyone agree with this, I will go get the necessary stuff to go ahead with it...
