(2009/05) May 2009 MTBs

shers,

ur baby is a very good weight
happy.gif
my gynae said my #1 had heavy bones so was born heavier than expected...so mebbe all the milk u drink is really helping with the calcium for the bones! but for my #1, i didn't drink alot of milk, i had craving for beef! this time round, i didn't take beef much, mebbe once a month.

shers,

its the baby's first stool. u know when they are in utero, they practice swallowing? so in the last stage, they shed their vernix (waxy white stuff to protect skin) and their lanugo (body hair)and these get ingested and will be excreted. if baby is full term, they will poop in utero.

the first thing my #1 did when she was delivered was to poop and pee on my gynae! he almost dropped her to avoid stainning his clothes! i think he deserved it coz he called her "ah pui"

audrey,
u very nice to ur mummy, water bag burst in the afternoon is better than @ night...at least ur mum had a good night sleep the night before and had her meals...i had my dinner @ 8pm, then water bag burst @ 1am. i only had lunch @ 2pm the next day
sad.gif

cheekz, thats v interesting to read up.. i didnt know all these.. hehehe..

thats y our bbs stool r blackish in colour esp in the 1st few days.. i dont know abt all these terms..

shers,

imagine if they poop in utero? they will be eating their own shit! anyways, they also drink their own pee when they start to practice swallowing!

cheekz, thats y gynae always say its not good to let bb stay in our tummy once they r 40 weeks.. because they will start to eat their own poo and if poo gets into their lungs, will have infections and bactical??

shers,
i heard about that before. but my gynae has not mentioned it to me...he seemed very certain that i won't be overdue.

i'm so bored @ home now
sad.gif
going out tampines for some retail therapy....

talk again okie = )

Shers, how much did u pay for the massage lady? I trying to get one.. she quoted me $600 for 10sessions.. is this the mkt price?

Audrey, think i get from u during weekends coz dun think i know how to go to ur hse during weekday w/o car.. heehee.. I will PM u my hp for easy contact..

cheekz, my gynae advised me that when i was carrying #1.. my gal was week 40.. but again, because my cervic bone is narrow.. even wait for another week or more also the same result..

ling lim and oki, i opt for 7 sessions at $598. this price is the same as i had 2 yrs ago.. from Traditional & Holistic Postnatal Centre

i booked 10 sessions for #1.. but my massage lady told me that i only need 7 sessions because by then, i have lost 10kg. so this time, i take up 7 sessions 1st.. if not enough, then go for 10 sessions..

Hi Shers, thanks.. then mine is quite within the norms... ok.. gg to book her now. was recom by someone but last year only $500 .. this year increased price..
happy.gif

Shers,
Thats my previous package with them & I have used up and definitely not going back.

So any specific masseur to look out ? Cos am tempted to get from them as well.

ling lim, yrs is considered cheap.. or mine is expensive?? hehehe..

anyway its good to go for pple's recommendation..

Shers
Actually I agree with you, trust your gynae and u will be in good hands.. but again not all gynaes are really trustable. Perhaps just go with the flow, if you are comfortable with one, then just stick with him/her

As for natural, tis time round i hope to be drug free not for the reason of torturing myself, but i heard from those drug free mums, seems quite fun, as I hope to experience once in my life, the real "feeling like poo big piles of stool!" hahahahahaha crazy me.. hubby said, see how if cant endure then take epi :p

Haha.. ya will get her to buy 1 more, as i have 1 opened minyak telon at home + 1 unopened one. I dun really use that a lot, coz personally i prefer minyak kayu putih (eucalyptus oil) when bb is much older, coz it smells nicer!! haha.. I have a big bottle at home for that.
I cant recall what i have asked my mum to buy ler, seems so many things already..

Re: massage
I have not decided if i would go for one, coz I didnt have any massage last round..

Hi Audrey,

I just PMed you my email address and contact no.. Please PM me your account no., contact no. and home address also. I will transfer the $44 to you asap.

Actually, I can also meet up at Bishan MRT if it is anytime after 7pm during weekday. Then I can help you to pay and collect some bags.

Hi Shers,
thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Understand both c-sec or natural requires recovery period.

I think its all up to each individual. Of cos I trust my gynae that's why he is the doc and I'm the patient. But I think I want to have more in-charge of my own body, if situation allows. I am some1 who doesn't just give-in without trying. So I hope I get to have 1-2 weeks of trying to beef up bb before 'declaring as defeated' and go for c-sec.

I do know people who opt for c-sec for all 3 births as she is aware that she herself can't take pain. This, I'll also respect because she has control over her own body condition.

For your case, I think you know your body well so c-sec is the best option due to narrow cervic bone.

I think I'm still young and healthy (although I'm 30 leow .. hahaha!) ... so I want to try natural birth and go through the process.

My 1st child was emergency c-sec as he had passed motion in the womb. These kind of cases, I can accept c-sec because its for the safety of both mom & bb.

Please pardon me if I'm offending any1 ... just my opinion.

Well ... Mothers are GREAT people, we've been through so much just for our little angels to be safely and soundly out ... Hooray!

Shers
dun scare me ler.. milk overdozed baby haha.. wonder how heavy my baby is now :p I am so small sized, so if bb is born at 3 kg i will be happy liao hahaha..
If 4 kg, i dun think it's possible :p

Audrey:
I will try to arrange friday nite to collect the bag from you.. how can I tt you the $?

RC_cola:
my #1 was born Assisted Birth with Epi
#2 was born totally drug free, unassisted birth. The experience is very good, not as difficult/pain as imagine, bearable pain! Healing is so much faster than #1 as well, 'cos no episiotomy (cut), minimal stitch!

Good luck to you.

Joyce,
I also hope to have minimal stitch cos I hate the "cleaning" part and is painful especially the 1st 2 weeks. But well, before my bb full month I am totally recovered.

kerene,

pls share wi me ur experience wi Dr Paul Tseng. i also fix an appointment wi him when i touch down Spore. intend to engage a doula for this pregnancy as well..

the more i read about VBAC, the more i think it's not impossible. agree that most of the gynae suggests way to do things out of their convenience. the birthing experience shd be enjoyable and i do think we have the right to choose the way how we wan it to be, not being manipulated ignorantly and also not doing any decision at the expenses of bb's safety..

joyce,
u visit Dr Paul Tseng also right? can share more on him?
happy.gif

joyce,

thanks for the link!

one of my fren also consulted him.. and i know he's more VBAC friendly doctor. actually i also not sure what to find out more abt him, just wana get a 2nd opinion from him when i back to spore after my consultation wi my current gynae. i wish to let him assess my situation (since my bb's size will be more or less there by then), and shared wi him my 1st birthing experience, and seek his advice on whether am i suitable to have VBAC... not that im insist to have one, but just wana make a more sound decision...

does he perform episiotomy?

Dodo:

I birth my #2 on four, hence, no chance for him to do episiotomy.. & I prefer a natural cut than episiotomy.

I have given him my birth plan for approval & copy has been forward to hospital. Anyhow, I copy another set when I admitted as hospital tent to 'misplace' the birth plan. #2 was born in Mt A.

This current one will be in TMC.

Hi everyone

Wow... this thread is moving really fast... finally finished reading the archives!

Thanks for all the well wishes and encouragement

I was discharged on Monday, but my girl is still is hospital. She's coping well and was moved from out of NICU on Monday to what they call step down unit, which is in-transition to SCN(Special Care Nursery). The PD told us that she can come home after discharge from SCN, hopefully in a week

I have uploaded some photos of her first few days here:

Kerene, I'm the mummy that Dr Adrian W asked to do emergency c-section. For my case, I don't think it was for his convenience or profit as the gynae that did the op for me was someone else. The condition my baby had is called ascites, which is basically excess fluid in the abdomen and can be an indication of severe medical problems. There's a choice of either testing and treating the condition on the mummy or delivering the baby early and and treating the baby directly. The benefit of delivering baby early is that we will be able to find out exactly what's wrong instead of guessing. For my case, since I was nearly 36 weeks and baby was of a good weight, Dr Adrian recommended that I do a early caesarean. Induction was out as baby's tummy was 20% bigger than the head and going through the birth canal may put more stress on her and create more complications. He was also concerned about the cost of baby's aftercare and actually referred me to a KKH gynae, who was the one that did the op for me. Dr Adrian wanted me to do the c-section at 37 weeks initially but after talking to the KKH gynae and doing more scanning, we decided not to delay so as to minimize changes in my baby's condition. Thanks to him, even though I chose to stay in a subsidised class C ward, I had an experienced gynae looking after me and a team of PDs waiting in the OT to take over my baby once she's delivered. However, I think you should still seek a 2nd opinion if you are feeling uneasy

joyce,

oic.. ok, shall go and read up more and talk to him that day, hope will have a more favourable outcome

when's ur EDD? mine will be at TMC also.

tinklesmum, massage works ornot depends on individual.. a gf of mine used the same massage lady, but didnt help much in her tummy and other areas. but for me, it helps alot!

but for engorgement, my massage lady is best in this!!! without her, i think i cannot survive through..

ak, for c-sect, can start 3rd week. but they will not massage on the scar area.. they know their job.

oki, i emailed u!

sei, mother's instinct is always right! u have made a right decision in protecting yr own and girl's safety.

u take care wor.. do update us..
